Josef prefers the office of the Church caretaker now. It is cold, yes, and drafty. But the torches gave a warm flickering light, and it was quiet. So quiet. The office in the slums was always loud, always oppressively hot. And the people always kept coming. Here, he was at least somewhat isolated. The silence was something he missed now, something he had often felt while younger. Back then, he would go off for weeks, wandering the lands of Aegis. It always seemed so... peaceful then.

So it is with a small amount of annoyance that he stands to open the door. The man is finely dressed, coiffed and stands at attention. Josef smiles tiredly and asks his business. He responds with a scroll, explaining the significance. Josef nods and takes it, thanking the man and sending him off. Peering over the writing by the flickering torchlight, Josef can see it is a claim to noble status. He reads it carefully, his nose nearly to the parchment. Good... he thinks. This will certainly help. Standing, he leaves the office and steps into the archives next door. Finding the correct shelf, he leaves the scroll there amongst the dozens of others that provide claims for legitimacy by other nobles. Sitting back down, he returns to writing his Will.
