Definitions

In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: Roleplaying is the act of changing one's personality and behavior to fill a certain role, one that is made up on the spot or one that is already set. You eat, sleep, and think like that person, leaving most aspects of yourself behind, or incorporating part of one's personality into the character.

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Meta-Gaming is when a player allows outside information to influence their character's knowledge. Say Tom's character Melvin is one of your character's enemies, and the other day he told you that Melvin's worst fear is snakes. You then use that information to torture Melvin. Basically, you used the information that Tom gave you outside of the game to use against Melvin inside the game.

In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: I can best describe Power-Emoting by giving an example.

Example of Power-Emoting:

David cast a fireball at Gayle, causing his arm to burn in flames.

Proper Example:

David uttered a small chant, causing a fireball to blast at Gayle.

Power-Gaming is a very similar offense, except it mainly focuses on the player. It's the act of giving your character traits that are usually not found in mere mortal characters. You basically give your character godlike or superhuman abilities. Power-Gamers also tend to now stick to the game's lore, and disregard any forms of laws and restrictions while creating the character.

Power-Gaming Example:

Keg is the strongest Orc in the realm. His strength has never been bested, and opponents melt at his glance. Nothing can ever hurt him from his steel skin that was graced to him by the Daemon Uglor. He shoots fire out of his nose, and can fly with his dragon wings.

Proper Example:

Keg is a Brute of an Orc, and can be considered one of the strongest warriors in his tribe. He is never without his steel armor, which he has had blessed by his village's shamans. He wields a flint and steel at times, and loves setting things on fire. Aside from that, his fists are his only true weapon, as he enjoys pounding everything to dust.

In-Character Details

Character Name: Calanon (Working on a Surname)

Character Race: Elf (High Elven)

Character biography: Calanon was born in the Princedom of Malinor, a few miles south of the glorious city of Normandor. His Father was a prestigious Vanguard for the city, but retired to spend more time with his newborn child. His Mother was not as charming or as social as her husband, but spent much more time studying the ways of Nature. He grew up with the ideal childhood; two caring parents, lots of love, and his parents made sure that he was never without anything. He didn't always have the finest or the most expensive clothes or weapons, but they did their job. And he was content with just that. From an early age Calanon was taught all of the values that a strong and just Elf should, and the couple added a few of their own as well. Arrogance was a huge part of the High Elven culture, if not one of the most important factors in their social system, but he was raised with the ideal that everyone was of equal value, that no one was better than another, just because of their race or blood.

Everything else went along pretty normal, but he found a lot of solace in his weapon of choice: The Bow. When that piece of wood was in his hand, nothing else seemed to matter. All of his worries washed away, and he fely like a totally different person. Besides that, he didn't study much else until he reached Adulthood, and then he embraced Swordsmanship with as much prowess and enthusiasm as he did the bow. Nothing other than that has happened in his recent years, but after mastering the art of the Blade, he set off, wanting to experience the world before he made any serious choices.

What are your characters ambitions?: Calanon, like all Elves is graced with the ability to live ages longer than any of the other races, and since he's just started his journey as an adult, he wants to roam the world for a while, see the wonders that he's heard so much about in his recent years. After he's finished his wandering years, he'd love to study at the College of Haelun'or (mainly for his love of magic) or improve his skills in archery and swordsmanship. And this is just at the beginning of his life!

Is there anything else you would like to say about your character? Calanon is tall, even for an Elf. He stands at a monumental 6'6", and looks down on many of his kin, physically of course. He has Blonde hair that runs down a small distance down his back, and piercing, green eyes. He is incredibly muscular, but not the bulky bodybuilder type, and has more of a lean and athletic look about him. His tendons are strong, mainly from drawing back the Bow hour after hour.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

i]Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

I was taken right away by his friendly smile and charisma, and walked over to his mediocre stall. He was selling what appeared to be some of the finest jewelry I've ever seen in my life, even by Elvish standards. The Dwarf introduced himself as Thoryn, a retired miner from Kal'Alras. He came to Arethor to earn some quick cash to send back to his family, who were struggling to meet their monthly rent back in their homeland. Feeling sympathetic for my new found friend, I took an immediate interest in a beautiful jade necklace. In a few months, my Mother's birthday was coming up, so I thought that such a thoughtful gift would bring joy to the woman's face. She didn't have much money to spend on herself, mainly because her husband was living the life of a hermit, which was all the more reason to treat her with the gem. Praising Thoryn for his skill in jewel crafting, I tossed a bag of gold on the counter, and gave the Dwarf a smile. "Keep the change." I said, and was off on my way, feeling like I made a difference in the man's life.

You’re in the Cloud Sanctuary late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. The only present monk is fast asleep, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? I would assess my opponent straight away, and size him up as I ducked behind a wall. Drawing my bow, I'd fire a few arrows at the Orc, and start yelling for the Monk to wake up. After the Orc was wounded, I'd call for a few more men of the Cloth to help us restrain the Brute, while checking to see if the Dwarf was hurt. Much to my surprise, the Orc ripped the arrows out of his torso, letting out a bellowing roar that echoed through the Temple's grounds. Readying his bow again, I'd shoot some more at him, and then try to dodge his oncoming charge. The arrows didn't stop him, but at least they slowed him down long enough for me to draw my sword. The Greenskin started to stagger towards me, his fists ready to attack me again. With out even breaking a sweat, with one swipe of my blade his arm was severed to the point where it is barely hanging. He let out a yell, but it was cut short as I plunged into his back, stopping him from hurting anyone else. I'd then walk over to the Dwarf, and see if there was anything that I could to help the pour soul. Seeing that he was fine, I bid farewell to the fellow and the Monks, and continued on my way.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?: Right away my parent's voice kicks into my head, telling me exactly what to do. I'd then rush to the Elder's side, checking to see if he was injured during the fall. Seeing that he was in a mass amount of pain, I'd set him against a tree, making sure that he was nice and comfortable for the time being. Wielding my sword, I'd slice through a branch like butter, enjoying the sound as the steel penetrated the wood. After whitling down the branches, I'd split the top of the branch, making a proper walking stick for the man. Setting the stick aside, I'd tend to the man's wounds as best as I could, and then escort him to the nearest town, finally asking my question as I helped him along the road.

For the most part you improved on everything I asked, but you're still missing two questions in the Out-Of-Character section. Review the application format to see which ones and then edit them in with your response. If you can do this within 12 hours you will be accepted. If not you will be denied.

Pending, awaiting necessary changes. If you have any questions feel free to send me a PM.
