Definitions

In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is:The act of assuming the life of a character other than yourself, and using that character in a fantasy world.

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is:Meta-gaming is using information from the OOC world to influence your character's decisions and actions in the IC world. For this server, meta-gaming information could be obtained from the forums and the wiki as well as from a minimap. This would also include meeting an OOC friend in game and referring to him by his OOC name.

In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is:Power-emoting is bringing about situations that another character can not counter or do anything about. For example, *He/She suddenly begins to feel a pain in their chest. Before they can react, the heart attack renders them helpless."

In-Character Details

Character Name:Faendal Elberoth

Character Race:Wood Elf

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:Faendal Elberoth was born in a tiny loggers hut high above the floor of the Malinor farms. His father was a skilled woodcutter, his mother a wheat harvester. During the day both of his parents were out of the house, and little Faendal quickly became quite independent, roaming about the city, completing chores assigned to him by his mother. Before long he developed a curious infatuation with archery, and within a few weeks, scraped up enough minas to purchase a bow and tiny quiver. For days he practiced and practiced in his free time, from the window in his hut he would shoot at targets floating in the water, soon developing a deadly accurate shot. However, during a later attempt to string the bow, the string snapped in half and cut him across his face, leaving a large scar across his right eye.

Despite their situation, the Elberoths were a very proud family. From a young age Faendal's father taught him the importance of pride and integrity within a man, that without them an elf was nothing but a beast, a lying, cheating animal. After a long day's work he would sit little Faendal up upon his knee and teach him about character.

One day, when Faendal was but seven years old, he and his family were traveling over sea to the human city of Arethor, his ship was attacked by a group of bandits. Sensing their imminent doom, Faendal's parents instructed Faendal to jump in the water, and set him out to sea. For seven nights Faendal floated alone across the waves, but on the eighth day he came to land on a beach near Levanthus. Wandering, Faendal came upon a Druid who was returning from the Cloud Temple to the Mother Grove of Elandriel, near Faendal's home town of Normandor. The Druid covered him in a robe, gave him food, and gracefully escorted him to an orphanage.

For thirty-five years Faendal grew up among the unholy throngs of juveniles, learned the skills of the nearby forest, donned a camouflaged green cloak, and provided for himself with his trusty bow. And on the day of his forty-second birthday, he was released back into the world, eager to create an exciting new life for himself.

What are your characters ambitions?:Despite constant urging from the Druids to pursue a life of pacifism, Faendal always had a yearning to join the military. He plans to first establish himself as a successful townsperson, but after that he hopes to maybe become a famous scout or archer for any army that will take him.

Is there anything else you would like to say about your character?Because of his intense sense of personal honor, Faendal is quick to accuse others of threatening his integrity, and in dire situations even challenging men to combat if it means he will retain his virtuous reputation.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?Finding myself in dire need of a job, I approach the dwarf.

Faendal: "Hello sir, I am a weary traveler looking to settle down. Have you any openings or chores that you wish me to run? I am very handy with a bow."

Dwarf: "Aye, you are just the boy I need. I am running low on pork and steak, if you can get me twenty of each I will pay you well worth your trouble."

Faendal: "Thank you for your kindness sir, I will do as you tell me."

I return later with the specified amount of goods.

Faendal: "Here you are sir, the meat you requested."

Dwarf: "Thank you kindly traveler, here is your pay." *hands me 20 minas*

Dwarf: "This will do justttt fine," he says as he turns around and stores the food. In the corner of his room he opens a trapdoor, which seems to lead into a dark cave, and tosses a piece of steak inside. From within I can hear some peculiar screeching, but it is quite faint. I decide to steer clear of this man from now on.

You’re in the Cloud Sanctuary late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. The only present monk is fast asleep, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?To intervene violently would be fatal, as my close quarters combat skills are not so good. Deciding to create a fantastical distraction before I wake up the monk. I yell to the orc.

Faendal:"Orc! Take heed! A dragon is bearing down upon you!"

The orc whirls around, looking into the sky as I awaken the monk and alert him to the situation.

Monk: "What is the meaning of this? You are defying the sanctity of the Cloud Sanctuary!"

Orc: "Thee dwarf took the iron from me chest 't me 'ome. 'Tis only right I should be 'n da verge a violence."

Monk: "Dwarf, what say you? Are these accusations true?"

Dwarf: "Alas, tis the truth."

Monk: "Come along little man, a prison cell awaits you."

My good deed done for the day, I return to my business as usual.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?:I take pity on the old man, remembering my experiences as a child when the kind Druid rescued me from my pitiful state. I pick up the fallen Minas and help the man to his feet.

Faendal: "Are you alright, wise man? There is a tavern not far from here where you can eat and rest, I will take you there."

Man: "Thank you son, I was afraid you would leave me there to wallow in my pain."

Faendal: "No sir, I would never do such a thing" I say as we approach the tavern.

I sit him down in a bench, and purchase him two loaves of bread, and am on my way.
