I also enjoy the teamwork it takes to have a good rp experience. Have you read and understood and agree to the rules?:Yes I have, And I do. How did you hear about the Lord of the Craft?:I was searching for a widely known roleplaying community with a good reputation. Definitions In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is:Roleplaying is a more complex and in-depth variation of gaming. It can be historically accurate or completely fictional. Usually, it embodies elements of any widely known "RPG" by providing the user with uniquely immersible game concepts. It also gives players a chance to have more control over what their individual experience is like as well as how they effect the experience of others. In addition, roleplaying is a specific style of gameplay that lets people take the role of a character and live a life through their eyes. It’s absolutely wonderful. In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is:My best experience with metagaming can be described as using sources like wiki's and game booklets to "enhance" my experience or simply provide me with more background information that I'm unable to receive during normal gameplay. Meta-gaming is obviously illegal here due to the fact that it brings the user "out-of character." The rules specifically state "• No power-gaming or meta-gaming will be tolerated. • You must keep in character • You must always play in character as this is an RP server" Meta-gaming takes away from decisions you make in-game by allowing the user to react to situations in a different manner than his character would. Basing decisions on your character's life-story is very important when roleplaying. In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is:Poweremoting can almost simply be labeled as roleplay taboo. If I were to take action upon another user without his/her consent, I would forfeit their chance to react. This is unfair and really brings the quality of the roleplaying experience down. I'm really glad to see that this application brings this up. In-Character Details Character Name:Mardigan Harbreed, Mard for short. Character Race:Human -- Southeron Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:I'm a young man of cunning intellect and cognitive superiority, a charismatic Southeron whose only aspiration has been that of social prowess and strategical fame. As a young child, I've been influenced greatly by tales, told to me by my grandfather before his passing, of the mountains of Al'Khazar, as well as the architecture. Having such an interest sparked many influences into the heart of my desires and ideologies. I've always looked up to my, now faintly rememberd, grandfather's description of the old world's Al'Khazarian guards, admiring their dominant confidence, although I view myself as being separate from them, almost as another breed. Those stories were passed onto me when I was a young boy. After my grandfather’s passing my father inherited the responsibility of sharing with me these stories. I was raised by my father and my father only, his name was Thom Harbreed. He was a man of simple pleasures and he taught me to take joy in the small things in life; the blooming of a tulip, the rise of the moon, and the colonies of ants beneath the ground. He enforced his values on me as if he were trying to strengthen me to make up for the painful memories of my mother’s untimely death. Her passing effected me greatly, wounding the deepest recess of my soul. As the years passed it festered and one day might lead to the unfolding of horrid events. I was born in Asulon, as a mere commoner with big dreams, and it’s here that I plan to die; perhaps in battle, treachery, or assassination. I've always been a tower among my peers; light brown skin tone with a default of an almost placid look of emotionless analysis. A small scar sits on the right side of my neck in remembrance of a fishing accident that taught me that pain was nothing to fear compared to the fear of pain itself. Wit, used as a weapon hot and sharp enough to cauterize as it glides with stealth-like precision into men's thoughts. A tower, though seemingly sheepish and quaint; a tower drenched with silken robe as if it were a waterfall from my shoulders. At the ripe age of early adulthood I rise before my destiny with nothing but greatness before me. Sadly, my downfalls can easily be struck. Arrogance plagues me and will often cloud my mind preventing me from making the best decision. Hand in hand, I use my arrogance as a weapon against those whom oppose me, many times to fail. I recognize my shortcomings and try to turn each failure into a learning experience hoping that one day I’ll be as wise as my grandfather was; living just old enough to pass on my experiences to a younger generation. What are your characters ambitions?:I aspire not to become supreme ruler but to spread my political and economical influence to the furthest reaches of Asulon. I will one day rise to the ultimate challenge, behind me will follow great minds and enlightened travelers. Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here: Is there anything else you would like to say about your character:I rise to specific challenges but am wise enough to know when to accept defeat. Open-Response-Questions Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short. Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?I see this situation, as many others, as a possible prospect. I approach the dwarf, indirectly. I stand adjacent to him and simply ask what wares he is selling. After giving advice on how to price his goods I continue conversation in short demanding questions. "What clan are you from and why are you here?" *says with gruff disposition; his expression slapping the Dwarf in the face with subtle disgust. A disgust not based on his race but based on the seemingly poor life decisions he has made up to this point. *analyzes him, only enough to gain the information I'm after, as he stares at me in exhausted disbelief. I'm rude, but my intentions are not. I wish to help this Dwarf but his responsibility to me will be binding. You’re in the Cloud Sanctuary late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. The only present monk is fast asleep, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?At first I completely ignore the situation, until the Orc's voice becomes an escalated shout. I grin with uneasy disposition at the thought of events to come. I imagine the Dwarf's skull, cracking under the weight of an Orc's callused heel. Before such events actually occur, I intervene. Holding a raw pork chop I entice the brutish Uruk. I redirect his attention,* slices him with a deviant glance. I stare directly into his eyes and offer the bloody meat as a peace offering. If he accepts I will use him to my own advantage. If not, I will surely retreat. Upon retreat the Orc's attention would surely fall on the Dwarf again, whose fate I am not concerned with. Let the Monks have him. If he survives. Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?:Subconsciously, I count the coins, but keep my focus on the elder. I meticulously assess the situation; the wind direction, the stick and what it's made from, his clothes, his physical stature, and his demeanor. I look down at him, eyebrows lowered as if a concerned thought is troubling my alert mind. At this time my emotions snap like the sound of sea water mixing with lava. I drop my guard and stare at him blankly as he struggles to return to his feet. He reminds me of my father, during the last days of his lowly existence. I attempt to help the man to his feet and hold him upright as I utter one simple phrase, a phrase my father once told me. "A man is not as strong as the wood he rests his weight on, but the idols he rests his faith in."
