Character Race: Mountain dwarf Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:When Clabar was a young dwarf, he lived deep in the eastern swamp with his two parents. He was an only child, and he enjoyed gazing westward, wondering about the Cloud Temple he had heard about from a traveling monk. His parents had never told him about it, and he wondered why not. He was about to find out. The day after his 16th birthday, his father took him to a cave. The inside was lined with obsidian, and his father ordered him to bow down to a statue of a scaled monster. He was horrified. The traveling monk had also told him about the worshippers of Iblees, and Clabar now knew that his father was of their ranks. He fled from the cave. His father was too startled by his son's reaction to pursue immediatly. However, Clabar knew that soon he would be followed. He sprinted home and started to pack food for a long journey. He knew that he could not continue to live with his parents. He avoided his mother - no doubt she would detain him. With a heavy heart he set off for the Cloud Temple, where he hoped to gain shelter. The next three days were horrible. He had barely any head start on his father, so he traveled off in a totally random direction before doubling back to confuse pursuit. When he crossed his trail, he could see his father's tracks beside his own. Frightened, he doubled his pace. He knew that he could find haven in the Cloud Temple. During the days spent recuperating in the Temple, he changed his name to Kivish Regiden. He grew his first beard, braiding it and draping it over one shoulder, and stopped shaving his eyebrows. He removed his childish mustache, and donated all of his old clothes to charities. A fortunately timed growth spurt further altered his appearence, allowing him to pass for a short human. He blamed Iblees and all of his followers for the loss of his parents, and hated them for it. He has learned to think about everything coldly and rationally and to exert a granite will over his thoughts and feelings. He does not gain friends easily, but all of his friends are deep and true. He overestimates his fighting prowess. He is overly grim for twenty years old. I hope this biography isn't stale, like the last one was. What are your characters ambitions?: Kivish wants to destroy the worshippers of Iblees. He hopes to find his parents and convince them that they are wrong, although he realizes what an improbably dream this is. Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here: Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: Nothing that I can think of. Open-Response-Questions Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short. Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? If I met a struggling shopkeeper, then I would probably try to give him some advice on how to get more business, money, etc. If I had no experience as a shopkeeper, and no knowledge of how or where shops could be most profitable, then I would offer some physical help, such as running errands, or helping him advertise. You’re in the Cloud Sanctuary late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. The only present monk is fast asleep, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? Not wanting to disturb the monk, and considering myself fully capable of resolving the conflict on my own, I ask the orc to quit that. He snarls something at me, then turns back towards the dwarf. Bad move. With the dull end of my axe, I conk him on the back of the head. He falls over forward, the dwarf stepping out of the way of the hefty orc just in time. He thanks me, and I go to ask the monk to help me move the orc to the infirmary. I'm sorry if I am still powergaming in this scene. If I am, than I don't know what powergaming is. Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?: I help him up. Using my axe, I cut a new walking stick for him. Then I stuff the minas back into the hole in the bag and find some way to tie it shut, or transfer the minas to another bag if I have one. Then I ask him the question I was going to ask before the walking stick snapped. If he is going my way, I help him with the bag.
Lita 677 Share Posted September 16, 2012 Your second ORQ does still contain powergaming, in the aspects that a dwarf is not nearly tall enough to hit an orc on the back of the head, and it would not knock him out in one blow. Your ORQs are bland in general. They do not show much about your character. If you wish to make a truly excellent ORQ, throw in things from your bio and ambitions. Please remember to wait (24) hours before submitting your next application. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to message me.
