Definitions

In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: Roleplaying is when you take the persona/form of a character and act as them.

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Meta-gaming is when you use out of character information when you are in character. For example, meta-gaming would be if you were talking to other people out of character and they were planning a raid on your store, then your roleplay character cannot know about it.

In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power-emoting is when your character does actions that are unrealistic or overpowered without letting the other players have a chance to react.

In-Character Details

Character Name: Beren Nénmacil

Character Race: Silvan Elf

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:

Beren stands at 6'4, with a slender, lithe form. He has cold blue eyes and a stern face, with unruly light hair running down his face. He is very quiet, and when he does talk, he is grim and morbid.

Beren was born in the lands of the Silvan elves, son to the Tree Master. He was trained in a prestigious college, where he learned to master archery and throwing weapons. Beren was very bright, and has a vast knowledge of Asulon. He left his homelands at 64, to go to Normandor. Whilst there, he met Resina, a beautiful young elve. They became friends, and after four years, Beren and Resina were wed in the Malinor tree. They lived happily for a century, and 23 years ago, Resina was heavy with Beren's child. During childbirth, however, Resina died, and Beren was left to care for the child, christened Elrohir. Beren was deeply saddened because of Resina's death, and rode to the Sanctuary to find someone to care for Elrohir. However, his carriage was attacked by goblins, who beat Beren and kidnapped Elrohir, running into the Cloud Forest. Beren was unable to find his son, and has been searching for the last 22 years.

What are your characters ambitions?: To one day find his son and reunite as a family.

Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: He is 364 years old, and above all else, has an undying hatred for Gobbos.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

Upon seeing the small dwarf, I feel pity upon him and walk up near his shop. As he asks me if I am interested in purchasing his fine pottery, without speaking I throw him a couple of Minas and walk away. I do this because, I know this dwarf has nowhere to go no one to stay with and I understand what he is feeling.

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?

While walking down the Oren Road late at night, I hear commotion up ahead. Without being detected I sneak up and witness the large orc bullying the small and defenseless dwarf and I tell the orc “You should back off” I warn the orc. the orc laughing continues to threaten this dwarf and pays no attention to me. I give him one last warning to which he simply turns to me and laughs. As he lifts the dwarf by his shirt collar chuckling as he does so, I draw my bow and calmly fire an arrow directly into the middle of his chest. The orc gasps in pain and clutches his chest running away into the night, dropping the dwarf as he does so. I sheathe my bow, my expression indifferent. I walk over to the dwarf and he shivers in fear instead of attacking him, I extend my hand to help him up. As he dusts himself off babbling and thanking me, I walk away as if nothing happened.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?:

When the old man’s walking stick breaks, I quickly stride to his side. Collecting his Minas I help him up and hand him his bag if Minas. I put my arm over his shoulder and brig him to the nearest house. I ask the owner if she can help the old man, as she tends to him, I leave the old man setting his broken stick next to the door and go home.
