Shield Constable of Training

Inside the Shield Fort in Solace there is a table with four books and several weapons on it. Standing beside it is Constable John Smithing, feet together, and hands behind his back. His face is serious as he calls all Shields to attention.

Hail Shields. I am your new Constable of Training, John Smithings. I will try my best to turn you all into efficient and effective soldiers of Salvus. To start you all off, I want each and every one of you to read these four books. These books will give you knowledge about the Shields. How we are structured, work, and train are separated among them. Each one of you will read these four books. These can easily be found in the library.

John places his hand upon the stack of books. He then looks at every Shield in line to make sure they are watching. After awhile of observing the line, he steps slowly past the books to the series of weapons placed on the table. For each one he speaks of, he picks it up to show to the Shields with care. He places it back down several moments after speaking for it to sink into the Shields.

These will be the weapons that each and every one of you will learn to use under my training. The Salva, being a short sword and good for close up fighting. The Salvian Kiteshield which is a strong shield to block incoming attacks. Finally, the crossbow for piercing heavily or light armored enemies at a distance. All of you will be required to carry these weapons on you. These weapons can be found in the armory.

After John finishes speaking, he places the crossbow down and stands tall once again. He looks upon the line of shields, pacing back and forth, getting a good look of all of their faces. After an intense few moments of silence, he speaks once again.

As a Constable of Training, I will obviously be training you. Every elven day we will have training. Every day you will be drilled before going on patrol. Once seven elven days have passed(Saturday 4 - 6PM EST), there will be a full of training which will test everything you have learned. If I deem that you are worthy enough, you will advance to Footmen. Be warned though, my standards are very high and most of you will most likely not pass in your first one or two tries. The next elven day (Sunday 3 - 4PM EST)there will be military exercises to test how well you know formations and how well you can work together. That will also be a test in your rise towards footman. Dismissed.

John stands at attention and salutes the Shields standing in line, dismissing them. John slowly walks back into the Shield headquarters to plan the training carefully.
