  1. Pharazôn sent flowers to the Emperor, for his triumphant victory over his illness. Oh, wow!
  2. The Dauntless Charge modification seems like the most interesting in this amendment pack. A horse-themed spell which pushes Templars to be part of the vanguard/engagement force rather than sitting in the back to prepare a spell is solid. I think this also fits with the Fervent Flare change being [2] emotes now, allowing someone to actually utilize it in battle. Allowing Javelins to be applicable with Bound Armament and Furious Flames is also good though I think blurs that line of what a Templar's role in battle should be. I've always viewed them as a melee-combatant first and foremost. However, the increased range to Bound Armament would still be something I'd be happy to see given that the spell is otherwise pretty rare to even use and useless. I don't care for the banner change because the Valiant Banner will always be the most meta-option. I do not say this as someone min-maxing (I have the two other banners on my two Templar characters), but rather because changing it to be more useful against Deadbreath is still situational enough that I don't think it'll make anyone choose that banner over another in particular. You'll pick it for the flair/aesthetic or you'll pick the Valiant one to maximize value. Vigorous Blows change seems the most contentious on paper. I could take it or leave it. I don't think giving it parity with other magics which share that ability is necessarily a bad thing but I also know that people are prone to clutching their pearls at giving Templars a buff like that. However, for the magic that is all about getting up close and battling it would be cool to see their most powerful spell not be something that they have to sit in the back to prepare before casting and instead something that they could reasonably wind up mid-battle. In regards to the comments others have made about bad Templar players I'd just say that vague posting w/o direct examples seems fruitless. DM the person you disagree w/ if you don't want to make a public spectacle or make a report if you think their power-gaming is egregious. All magics spread about a very large group will have players who do not teach their spells thoroughly, power-game, act in bad-faith, and break their own redlines. Nothing is enforced if it is not reported. Templarism, as a magic, is spread very wide across varied player-bases/communities. You'll find that in the Empire alone there are like three or four disparate groups with the magic all wandering around and then there's the Idunians, the Norns, the Oyashi, and some Elves. Having interacted with many of these different Templar players I can say that they all seem to have different approaches. Disliking Templar players does not seem like a valid or worthwhile critique of a Templarism amendment pack.
  3. THE ROYAL COURT OF IDUNIA Issued in the Year 285 of the Second Age In the name of His Royal Majesty Tar-Pharazôn Arthalion People of the High Kingdom, esteemed allies of the West, and all denizens of the realm: We are convened here under the sacred authority of LORD GOD for the fifth Royal Court of Idunia. We shall make evident the structure of our High Kingdom as we continue our march amidst this period of prosperity and peace-times. Even so shall we continue to make evident our vigilance for enlightenment, for learning, and to convene our efforts in scholarly prowess. ON THE MATTERS OF THE REALM, THE CROWN DECREES: The structure of the Harren Court and the High Council shall be elaborated upon, with requirements candidacy for open positions being announced and those eligible being evaluated. The Sanctum of Avaleir shall have its ethos further refined and announced, with those interested in pursuing the talents of the arcane having guidelines to endeavor such. Too, shall the practice of Clericism be further emphasized and elaborated on. Warriors who have been properly assessed and have shown that they are worthy of their keep shall be elevated to the status of Knighthood. In this regard, they are to be branded with the Ring of the White Tree to boast of their martial-earned titleage. The traditions and artifacts of our High Kingdom shall be expanded upon, with the Oath of Tar-Númenatâr reaching its two-hundredth swearing alongside other similar announcements of our venerated heritage. Beyond these principal points established, further subsequent announcements are to follow within the Royal Court. It shall be a demonstrably crucial gathering and the people of Idunia shall have their moment to petition to the Crown therein. “The twenty-first year after the fall of the holiest city, the Lord’s Aengul Artifai descended before Harren and spoke with him. The Aengul said ‘Harren, you are chosen for the vocation of your father. Come, and receive the Lord’s prophecy.’“ Book of Scattering, 31 - 32 Signed, HIS ROYAL MAJESTY, Tar-Pharazôn Auranion Harren Arthalion, By the blessing of Aeradar, High King of Idunia, Chief of the Númenedain and the Tribe of Harren, Defender of the Númenaranyë, Sovereign of Alduun, Prince of Númendil, Templar of Saint Michael the Archangel, Knight of the Realm, Master of the Sharadûn, Protector of the Adunians, Ascendant of Orodaeglir, Trailbearer of Tar-Númenatâr HER ROYAL MAJESTY, Tari-Ashael Malôs Harren Arthalion, by the blessing of Aeradar, High Queen of Idunia, Chiefess of the Númenedain and the Tribe of Harren, Defender of the Númenaranyë, Sovereign of Alduun, Master of the Sharadûn, Protector of the Adunians, Knight of the Realm, Ascendant of Orodaeglir, Trailbearer of Tar-Numenetar
  4. The Black Templar was a perversion of courage, a stone amalgam of hatred which sought to cleanse the rot he saw within Malchediael’s brood. He had slain six Templars of meek resolve, believing them unworthy. The strength of their blessing was compared to that of his own, which to him when he had captured the sanctified blade of golden gem-steel. Yet, those slain were in the groves of druids, elven pretenders who knew not the dogma of the Aengul against any other. He had heard many times now where the courageous truly burgeoned. In marching within the lands of the Templars, the Eidolon thought there would be no different outcome to the wars waged prior. Yet it was Elerríon who proved defiant to the stone-lord’s charge. He had raised the banner of radiance to dispel darkness, brought divine-flame upon his stony exterior, and invoked the Aengul’s name to radiate a courage otherwise unseen by the accursed Templar until then. Against his holy light did the Black Templar realize that there were, indeed, worthy agents of Malchediael within the realm. Reduced to dust and fragments, the menhir-craft was forced inert in the cinders of silver. The weavers might one day reform him, yet his own courage had been shaken. If ever he would rise again, he knew not his purpose. A scourge of the blessed had met his match against a true Templar.
  5. This looks really interesting and as someone who recently played a Pale Knight with someone else and was successful enough to raise both of them to Pale Lords within a short few months, I think it definitely needed a change. The wave of buffs/nerfs that came recently did not really solve the issues that Pale Knight had, though it was definitely an improvement. This overall rework of Eidola into Dreadknights, and the inclusion of Blood Magic, is something I'd commend though. However, I do have a few concerns and because of them I'd have to -1 since I think they're enough that they should be tweaked prior to the acceptance of this CA. Firstly, though there are a lot of aesthetic differences between the Blood Magic versus Mysticism variants but I would have liked to see more actual mechanical differences because otherwise it comes off as simply cosmetic and takes away, I think, from the Dreadknights. One example of this might be to have variant-locked Augmentations with the current six Augmentations being the ones allowed for all of them (and maybe require that one of the variant versions is picked?). An augmentation that allows Dreadknights to use spells (with restrictions) from their variant-choices would be interesting. I do also think that there should be more augmentations to pick from and (unless I missed it?) I think there should be a way to change your Augmentation choices, even if it is costly (like making you vulnerable for a bit, or requiring Mystics/Blood Mages to assist). Lastly, on that specific subject, I think that the Mystic/Blood Mage variants should have their own minor passives. Eidolas had an interesting interaction with waters due to their phantasmal waters and seeing something small like that would be cool. My main concern, though, is that there is an eventual lack of progression after you have your 2-3 Augmentations, taking 9 weeks total. Though this is fine for a CA, I feel like that grind from Pale Knight to Pale Lord was really interesting and something which motivated activity. Having to take a Lesser Augmentation to help my Mystic friends collect Souls feels a bit unfortunate, as well. I'd also think there should be some way to connect Menhirs to the Mystic-variant (and definitely something similar to mirror that of the Blood Mage Variant) so that that structure is still given some more use than simply a soul-storing device (as Pale Knights are birthed from it, for example and can create their weapons/tools from it). And, on the topic of weapons/tools, restricting the Oathblades into either a Greatsword or Titansword is an interesting choice but overall one that I disagree with. Even if not fully a free-choice, I do think there should be more choices for which weapon one chooses to fight with unless there's a strong justification for that, otherwise. Also, not being allowed to kill things and Rusting if you do feels a bit limiting to the roleplay. Unless these CAs are intended to exist alongside Pale Knights (which feels strange) I don't understand why there would be a mechanic to limit their roleplay of killing. The Vigorbank augmentation, at that point, feels a bit strange. Why would a CA that doesn't want to kill people be fine with harvesting their souls (which are addictive according to the Augmentation?) and using them for evil occult rituals? Overall, I just feel as though Pale Knights and Pale Lords are rather strong right now and a change is needed, but I think this solution in particular needs a few more modifications to make it something more complete. However, it's definitely moving in the right direction.

  9. Issued in the 281st Year of the Second Age by the HIGH KING OF IDUNIA On the matter of constructs, the laws below shall take effect within the Royal Capital of Alduun. A construct is defined as a man-made creation styled in any variation of homonculus, golem, atronach, automaton, or other such artifice. 🟆 No construct is to pass independently into the Royal Capital of Alduun unless accompanied by its creator, maker, or guardian, who has control over it. 🟆 Constructs may be granted a Writ of Leave and Sanction should they wish for independent travel within the High Kingdom. This may be granted at the discretion of the Master of Alchemy or, otherwise, the High Council. 🟆 Constructs granted a Writ of Leave and Sanction must have such readily available within the Royal Capital and must display it when requested by an agent of the realm. 🟆 Constructs in violation of this law may be denied entry, forcibly removed from the realm, detained, or otherwise submitted under lawful measures deemed necessary to expel or banish them. 🟆 Constructs, especially those considered homonculae, shall be required to don and maintain suitable attire sufficient to conceal such artificed or inhuman deformities that may give rise to alarm or disturbance. Signed, HIS ROYAL MAJESTY, Tar-Pharazôn Auranion Harren Arthalion, By the blessing of Aeradar, High King of Idunia, Chief of the Númenedain and the Tribe of Harren, Defender of the Númenaranyë, Sovereign of Alduun, Prince of Númendil, Templar of Saint Michael the Archangel, Knight of the Realm, Master of the Sharadûn, Protector of the Adunians, Ascendant of Orodaeglir, Trailbearer of Tar-Númenatâr HER ROYAL MAJESTY, Tari-Ashael Malôs Harren Arthalion, by the blessing of Aeradar, High Queen of Idunia, Chiefess of the Númenedain and the Tribe of Harren, Defender of the Númenaranyë, Sovereign of Alduun, Master of the Sharadûn, Protector of the Adunians, Knight of the Realm, Ascendant of Orodaeglir, Trailbearer of Tar-Numenetar MASTER OF ALCHEMY, Jeffrey de Wees
  10. Pharazôn looked upon the chronicle fondly, knowing well that the newest generation of Knights was perhaps the greatest that Idunia, and Númendil, had ever seen. Such a volume would not have seen the light of day without the High Chancellor’s tireless work, who had endeavored and led the project bravely. “Of remarkable valor and chivalry, are the new breed. I will suffer not the meek to hold such a title evermore,” mused the King, thinking aloud. “But those of old shall be remembered, too. Their contributions are numerous, and immeasurable.”
  11. Pharazôn accepted, with an immense gratitude, the bounty of the baronial House. “They must send their children to the mines in endless cycles,” posited the Arthalion, considering then whether his children might wish to ward under them for those very reasons.
  12. The Prince remembered the both of them being illuminated by the pyre-light, the Magister speaking fervent yet bereft of redundancy. Countless times they had argued and bickered within the Temple. Doubtless was Pharazôn now, that there was anyone as tethered to the faith as he. Eyes had drawn to the flames, then to the bristled mustache, and finally to the Bishop entirely. “So, it will be done soon...?” That was nearly a decade ago, perhaps, but he was still no less overcome with joy to see the completed work! Of the many candles within the temple of the faithful, none burned as brightly as the Wick.
  13. THE ROYAL COURT OF IDUNIA [276 S.A] Issued in the Year 276 of the Second Age In the name of His Royal Majesty Tar-Zôrzagar Argelion People of the High Kingdom, esteemed allies of the West, and all denizens of the realm: We are convened here under the sacred authority of LORD GOD for the fourth Royal Court of Idunia. This unprecedented path for our people is one which we shall shepherd towards prosperity through the conviction of our aims. In the settled foundation, this Royal Court shall be one which sets clear expectations for the future of our realm and honors the heroes who have triumphed. ON THE MATTERS OF THE REALM, THE CROWN DECREES: The Harren Court, and the upper High Council, shall be expanded with new appointments and the positions and roles therein refined to best serve the realm in our new and coming age. The elaboration upon the station of our many esteemed noble families and vassals, in regard to hierarchy and privileges. This, in particular, shall lead to the ennoblement of new Houses within the High Kingdom who have proven their tact and alignment. There shall be an advisement on the matters of the abyssal darkness which encroached upon our lands, informing upon the recent circumstances and response by our Templars, Verdants, and Mages. The announcement of new traditions in veneration of our founders as well as the honoring of the iconic figures in the history of Idunia, and its predecessor Kingdom, Númendil. It is through the commemoration of those who had given much of themselves to this Kingdom, from any vassal or organization, that we are inspired. 14. The House Arthalionath COA made by @milkyi:)
  15. Pharazôn could only recall of Aureliano that he was a steadfast leader, mettle tested in every manner of challenge one may find in statecraft. Whether it was handling scandal, warfare, or revelry it seemed on the exterior that he braved the storm with conviction. If there was hesitance in his decisions, or uncertainty in his capabilities, it was unknown to the Crown Prince. Issues are to exist anywhere, but in thanks to the efforts of him and his council, Virú became home of the wayward, of the true-hearted, and of the unyielding. "Well done," regarded the heir to the High Kingdom. "Until the next time."
  16. CONSECRATOR OF THE EMBERREST As plague fed like glutton and prayer went unanswered, deliverance was sought through any means. Attuned to the accursed autumn, this mace heralds silence to its thralls and thrum of its ghastly poison. Name of the Artefact: Benediction Effects of the Artefact: As even the heroic succumbed to the darkness, malformed and tainted by the touch of the Emberrest, those that remained within its land sought a new path of liberation. In want of altering the curse, too would their morality be made malleable. Folk from the hamlet laid down their lives, bartering with the fates that their blood would fulfill purpose and bring sanctity to the isles of autumn. “It is a wretched thing, this land; we must be alike to cleanse it…” The offered vitality was utilized in every facet of its creation; whether it were the quench of reddened steel, the imbuement within the metal, or the occult ritual to empower the implement itself. Unorthodox as it was, the weapon’s head was formed from the skull of a captured and sacrificed vampyr, the feral-beast acting as both trophy and warning against those that lurked within the fog. It was a last gasp for the living against the island’s thralls; an immolation to beseech everlasting peace. In wielding its boons, one would be vulnerable to the darkness which lurked at the edges of their mind. Each searing flame rendered forth threatened those who would invoke such a bemired weapon. Sanctity | Passive From the polluted lands would accursed altars form, beckoning the weak and enfeebled to find succor from their wellsprings. If broken through mundane means, the earth would regenerate the structure and enwreathe them with its own wards and guardians. In retort, this morningstar was capable of holding the sunder of the structure for a longer period, settling the darkness in abeyance if it were used to destroy it. Redlines: Self-teach Corcitură sites within the Emberrest that have the capacity to be destroyed and reform are unable to be restored for [5] OOC weeks if this Artefact is primarily utilized in its destruction. If used at event sites unrelated to the Emberrest, it is at the discretion of the related Event or Lore Team overseeing the site as to how significant an effect, if any, is imparted. Revelation | Passive, Active Lurking throughout the expanse of the Emberrest would be a low fog, blanketing the ground in its obscuring form. In the night, one would become weary of this characteristic feature of the land, knowing that it would veil its thralls and herald their ambush when it billowed. To serve as beacon, the morningstar passively rebuffed at any naturally-formed mists lingering within [5] meters as the eyes between its skull flared with a dim crimson in such a presence. If one believed themselves to be subject to ambush, the morningstar could be risen to extend such a range and rebuke those that would disguise themselves through illusory means. This act would require [3] emotes wherein the wielder would first raise the weapon, then mutter forth a plea of sanctuary, and then finally expel a flash of crimson light to a range of [10] blocks, revealing all within its proximity. This exposure would last until the Artefact is stowed, used to attack, begins to cast a different ability, or up to [5] emotes elapse (whichever comes first). Redlines: The cleansing of nearby mists and fog would only affect that which was natural to the land. Effects created by magical or alchemical means such as Deadbreath or Smoke Whispers are not affected by this ability. When casting Revelation, the wielder cannot move or be mounted unless their concentration is broken or they willingly cease its casting. When casting Revelation, concentration could be broken by one being struck, losing consciousness, becoming incapacitated, or otherwise becoming stunned. When casting Revelation, the spell would render invisible entities (such as Ghosts, Corcitură, etc) visible to the naked eye. This said, its utilization to check for invisible creatures can only be done if there exists a reasonable explanation for one to be suspicious. After Revelation is cast, if the effect is decided to be held, the wielder may move though is unable to sprint or be mounted. After Revelation is cast, it cannot be cast again within the same combat scenario or until [1] OOC hour has elapsed if cast outside of combat. Penance | Passive Upon being drawn, the morningstar shall set aflame with a red-black flame that sheathes the weapon’s skull-head in an unnaturally shifting blaze. The accursed inferno pulses as if a heart-beat, streaked with vein-like crimson patterns amidst its scorching pyre. In the presence of anti-magic, such fire would be snuffed instantaneously though would passively return if still wielded when the anti-magic was out of range or its effect had concluded. The true heat of these flames would require an emote of contact for every degree of burn intended. For example, whatever made contact with these flames for [1] emote would receive a first-degree burn, then second-degree burns at [2] emotes, and so on. Redlines: The Artefact’s flame cannot be used to melt other weapons, whether of mundane make or otherwise. The Artefact’s flame may be used to light flammable inorganic objects like pyres, campfires, or corpses. The Artefact’s flame could not be concealed or discolored through other spells or abilities, though the otherwise non-aesthetic facets of such spells or abilities would still be maintained. The Artefact’s flame could inflict burns up to third-degree over up to [3] emotes of contact upon unarmored flesh. The Artefact’s flame cannot be quenched in water, only reduced through Anti-Magic. Anti-Magic would include effects like Thanhium, certain Kani spells, or other similar abilities. Malevolence | Passive, Active In having the morningstar on one’s person, whether wielded or otherwise, an intense distaste for vampiric beings would be held. There would be no recourse for such beasts, even if one was capable of being cured. The rot must be expelled by force, and the wielder would find it impossible to stop themselves from harming one they know to be of vampiric origin, though was not mindless and could otherwise flee if outnumbered or too injured to battle. Too was the accepted burden of the weapon so great that they would find it impossible to ever depart with the Artefact willingly. Too, is the hatred for the accursed so great that one would succumbd to weakness if they shirked their responsibility in ridding the realms of it, the crippling debilitation taking form over the course of many years until they possessed merely the strength of a voidal-mage. This enfeeblement could be avoided by simply bringing death to the dark-thralls of the world with this weapon's use. In simply wielding this relic, one becomes attuned to the blood-ritual of its creation. This said, there is an exacerbated effect caused by the slice of Azhl upon one’s unarmored flesh. If such was to occur, the wielder of the relic would fall into a state of frenzy, becoming what they serve to destroy over the course of [3] emotes as they begin to transform. Their fingernails would grow into elongated talons, the canines of their teeth growing into fangs, and they would otherwise similarly transform in the same fashion as a Corcitură might. In this state, one would be bereft of reason and viewed none except vampires to be their ally. The effect could only be concluded by being knocked unconscious or slain. Redlines: The wielder of the Artefact would hold a heavy dislike towards Vampires which could be roleplayed either as disgust, hatred, or an otherwise negative outlook. The wielder of this Artefact may decide whether their dislike extends to those cured of Vampirism, too. The wielder of the Artefact was capable of acting strategically and with intelligence, the dislike towards Vampires not being so significant that they must act irrationally. Too, does this allow them to flee in the event that they are outnumbered or far too injured to battle. The wielder of the Artefact must slay at least [1] true-form Dark CA every [4] OOC weeks in order to avoid succumbing to voidal mage weakness. Event Creatures are not applicable to this ability. For purpose of parity, the permissible Dark CAs are the same as those capable of being affected by the [T4] Templar spell Trophy as well as Eidolas, Spectral Entities, and Corcitură. In order for the injury caused by Azhl to be sufficient enough to initiate a blood-frenzy, it must be of a puncture into their flesh. Due to the passive element of Malevolence ensuring a dislike of vampiric beings, they cannot willingly initiate this blood-frenzy by stabbing themselves with Azhl. In the case that the wielder falls into a blood-frenzy, they would consider no creature except those of vampiric nature to be their allies. For the duration of the blood-frenzy, they no longer hold a dislike towards Vampires. In the case that the wielder falls into a blood-frenzy, their transformation would include all of the regular tells of a Corcitură’s Transformation boon with the first and second emote relating to their talons and fangs. The wielder's blood-frenzy could be ended by being incapacitated or being disarmed, though they cannot do either willingly. The third emote of the blood-frenzy transformation is imparted so as to allow some creativity in the aesthetic of their blood-frenzied state, though must still settle within the confines of the Transformation boon’s redlines. The wielder of the Artefact does not garner any other abilities from the Corcitură feat upon Malevolence activating, only borrowing the transformative elements. Vampires would include all manner of bloodthirsty creatures such as Corcitură, Moroi, Ravyns, etc. Offering | Active In parallel to the creation of this relic, so too can the act of sacrifice destroy it; a final act to fulfill the purpose of cleansing the accursed. Over the course of [3] emotes, the wielder of this morningstar may forfeit their soul to the Blood Crystal to wield a modicum of its power, first kneeling and making to face the skull of the vampire set upon the haft’s apex. Thereafter, one would seal their fate away and declare loudly the forfeiture of their being as blood would stream forth from their mouth, eyes, and nose. In their final act, the owner of the Artefact would stand and bring the weapon to rise, its red-black flames erupting in a pyre as their life was given in service of its hallowed calling. In the same instant as the morningstar was risen, the flames would burst forth and immolate its wielder, unmaking them into cinders and ash. Too, would the relic face its own ire, shunted into darkness and fog with this concluding, calamitous act. All those within [12] meters of the wielder would be ruptured by a maelstrom of blood-red flames, a conflagration that would sear against plate and through its crevices to mark flesh with its vicious intensity. The intensity of this blast would be more forceful the closer one was to the caster. Redlines: When casting Offering, the wielder may only cease their concentration willingly prior to the second emote, otherwise locked into the spell if that emote had already been reached. When casting Offering, the wielder may not move or be mounted and remains stationary. When casting Offering, concentration could be broken by one being struck, losing consciousness, becoming incapacitated, or otherwise becoming stunned. When casting Offering, one’s declaration during the second emote must be done in #rp or #s and cannot be vague, stating plainly that they are surrendering their life. Once Offering has been cast, those within [12] meters of the caster receive first-degree burns and are roughly shoved back [2] meters. Once Offering has been cast, those within [10] meters of the caster receive second-degree burns, suffering a moderate wound, and are violently shoved back [4] meters. Once Offering has been cast, those within [6] meters of the caster receive third-degree burns, suffering a major wound, and fly back [6] meters, then falling against the ground. Once Offering has been cast, those within [3] meters of the caster are burned alive in the maelstrom of flame and force, grievously injured and assuredly to die if they do not receive immediate and appropriate medical assistance. Armored targets and shields do not possess immunity to this fire, unless stated by the material’s redlines for cases such as Rokodra or Dracanium. They will still take damage and feel pain from being directly struck by fire, as the flames are more than capable of inflicting searing damage through gaps in their armaments. The casting of Offering is treated in the same fashion as a suicide, meaning that it is an irreversible PK. This said, there is no afterlife for those who utilize this ability, their soul siphoned into the Blood Crystal. The casting of Offering destroys the Artefact. Redlines of the Artefact: The Artefact, though imbued with additional properties listed above, would otherwise act as a mace wrought of mundane steel for the purpose of regular attacks in combat. The Artefact's flames are considered magical and, for the purposes of abilities like Penance and Offering, only affect creatures that possess genus. Creatures that do not have genus are not burned by the flames, though may still be bludgeoned by the mace itself. Otherwise, this circumvents general immunity to fire when making direct contact with unarmored flesh. Explanation of the Artefact: This Artefact’s purpose is to serve as the mirror against The Sanguine Touch which would be primarily utilized by the darker forces that have claimed their reward from The Emberrest. Unlike the aforementioned Artefact, this morningstar is a weapon with a calling for those seeking to dispense calamity unto the many thralls of the autumnal lands. It is a weapon of conflicting morality, that of sacrifice and darkness though with intent to be used for salvation. Moreover, it acts to elaborate upon the lore of those who inhabited the Emberrest prior to the settling within Azuras and displays the gruesome desperation held by those attempting to fend off the blood-plague. Though most of its abilities are likely to only be useful within The Emberrest (such as Sanctity, Revelation, or Offering), it still maintains some applications in other environments, in such cases acting mostly as a mighty weapon to exert its purifying flame against all foes of its wielder. 17. The Crown Prince stared in awe at the great bounty which had been left before him, a gawking gaze before flashing a grin towards Bârathân. “Wondrous it is to have your pride on our side,” remarked the Arthalion.
  18. Issued in the 271st Year of the Second Age by the CROWN PRINCE In the aftermath of my father’s Edict of Radiant Pursuit, I had found myself granted the honor of witnessing the magecraft of the many wizards in our realm. Many had evoked fiery spectacle, some had twisted the winds to their preference, even a pebble had risen before my eyes to confront me with its presence. However, she who had impressed the most was a mage who not only provided her philosophy and knowledge, but also acted with haste to the protection of the High Kingdom. Her intuition of wrong-doing and plots threatening the stability of magehood come from an experienced mind, yet one still hungering to learn. It is because of her courageous effort that I would seek to appoint, under my father’s shared approval, the archmage known as Vivien Aen Tarem as the High Wizard of Idunia. May it be that we see much come from this fruitful partnership and that the arcane arts are one which may be carefully studied and hereafter continued to be explored within the High Kingdom’s walls. Too, shall we embrace the tradition of our mages donning pointy hats and wizardly robes, a facet which has been of high importance to my father in these times. Glory to Idunia! Signed, HIS ROYAL MAJESTY, Tar-Zôrzagar Argelion Anorion Harren Arthalion, High King of Idunia, Prince of Númendil, Chief of the Númenedain and the Tribe of Harren, Defender of the Númenaranyë, Sovereign of Númenost and Alduun, Knight of the Realm, Slayer of the Gilded Queen, Master of the Sharadûn, Protector of the Adunians HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, Pharazôn Auranion Harren Arthalion, Crown Prince of Idunia, Templar of Saint Michael the Archangel
  19. Terror lurched towards the hallowed grove of Illivira, the Knight of Stone heeding the call of the greater horrors which called upon his servitude. Yet he did not make pursuit of this for virtuous cause nor personal dogma; bereft of dreams, the Eidola had departed with sentiment when he was petrified a decade ago but now, too, felt the death of conviction. He was a remnant, not revenant. Whilst the herd of demonium ascended to make ashes of the trees above, the Pale Knight settled at the lowest chamber. It would be his task to rend and stall those who would seek to halt them, beginning with two small-folk who had nestled into the brush. His maker stored their souls within his cradle, and his statuesque gaze watched as they were devoured thereafter. Suddenly, the gates opened and another rushed within. Perhaps they had noticed the embers and smoke rising into the winds, but they had made the mistake of coming alone. The figure was agile, though misfortuned with hesitance. His cudgel cracked into their legs, then skull, and wrought a fragment of the Dragonfly’s vitality into its maw. Another of Malin’s brood ventured an attempt to ascend, but was crushed under stone. It would prove a Sisyphean task to rescue the sanctuary which immolated overhead. Yet still, they endeavored with futile effort and were felled time after time against the oppressive force of the darkness. Then, the bells rang and the gates rose. A small army charged their way into the grove to seek deliverance of their sacred woodlands. It was only the Knight of Stone and The Primarch, his brother ascended, who would stand to stall their effort. Their forces split, half seeking ascent whilst the rest sought to rupture an end of the Eidola. With so many, a direct confrontation would prove a wasteful and unnecessary effort. The beings of stone slid into the nearby pond, deep enough to conceal their form as a miasma of black-fog expelled from them. And so did the ten or so warriors make a perimeter of it, watching and wasting the precious seconds that their blades could have afforded to those above. When it was opportune, the titans emerged and charged upon them with an unyielding onslaught. One had stood too closely to the edges of the darkness, only realizing they were being attacked once blood was spilling from their head. Dread had been instilled into the warriors, many of them immediately making to flee expeditiously. Yet one remained, unwilling or unable to turn his back on his enemies. He stood rigid, a weapon enwreathed in flames of divinity, with a four-pointed star upon his armor. A shockwave of radiant fury was unleashed from him and unto the Eidola. Caught unaware, the Knight of Stone was impacted and sent off-kilter from the courageous surge. Even so, it did not grant him his triumph. Though he had mustered more strength than the rest, the troublesome Templar was felled thereafter. “Was this the extent of courage?” pondered the Pale Knight. “Was this all their blessing could evoke?” The tides would never shift in favor of these druids. Those who had come to defend Iryalen would be made to seek escape in panic, clutching the weapons that they had once held so fearlessly as a swarm of demons descended from the now-burnt grove to devour them. Two warriors donning illustrious armor and wielding weapons of impressive quality seemed the slowest, seemingly burdened by their relics. He was ordered then to bring them to slumber, and intended to do so. His quarrel was with one wielding a blade of golden gemsteel which scratched upon his stone exterior. The Templar knew he was to die and fought with a viciousness to extend his mere moments left. Radiant light engulfed his weapon, rebuffing a strike, yet he could muster only so long before exhaustion overtook him. The Knight of Stone pierced through his lethargy and crushed the steel of his helm inwards, a squelch resounding from the slain. Perhaps it was the soul of the Templar that wished for a demon to clutch the artifact, yet the Eidola took it in his palm instead. Providence it was, that such an act would grant him the enlightenment and purpose he sought. In simply wielding this blade, the Eidola was met with a surge of emotions he had not felt even whence he was of mundane birth. Courage. Unabashed, brazen, and zealous. It was this that was the Aengul of Courage’s gift. How had the recipients of his blessing shirked such beauty? They had made mockery of him by being craven, coated in the cowardice of their inability to stand tall against the darkness which encroached. The Templars did not deserve such a blade. It was granted deliverance through his hands of stone. Purpose had been delivered to the Pale Knight. He was to ascend, as his brother had, and become the arbiter of courage. The mettle of Malchediael’s chosen shall be tested, the extent of their ability brought against a horrifying force. He had freed one relic of his new patron from the unworthy, and now sought to cull those who did not deserve his gifts. In his victory, justice shall be wrought. And of the blade? His master found purpose in blessing it in the darkness. The steel had been tainted by inferior warriors, and was now surrendered into the demon’s mighty claw. No longer would courage be stained by those who could not stand brave in the face of their demise. The Black Templar had risen with a new purpose.
