@Vaq, I've read numerous places it is possible to trace a DDoS attack (even while it is occuring). If that is possible, would it be reasonable to be able to block such connects, or am I not understanding this correctly? (More of a software geek than networking..)

It hurts to see someone you respected become someone you are dissapointed in and get banned. At first you don't believe it, perhaps the GMs made a mistake, or they are being cruel. But the GMs are the most responsible, mature, and careful people here. Their decsions are made for the betterment of the community. We can't just say they're wrong because the person wasn't like that before.
