EDIT: I looked it over and realized some lore-wise things were missing. So I edited the list slightly. That's what I was thinking, too. Okay. Any ideas for the Major Spirit shamans-- well, that's up to Mog, I guess. So: ELEMENTAL: Tier 1: Burning Hands: (Ignite things with your hands w/o flint & steel.) Tier 2: Lightning Strike: (Derp. Based on the spirits of Storm, Air, and Fire.) Tier 3: Stoneskin: (Either innate or spell-activated. The skin becomes hardened, granting a slight increase in defense ((equivalent to a full set of leather armor, or maybe chainmail)) Maybe Druids could get a Barkskin equivalent, while Mages and Clerics get a Magic Armor. They would still get smashed in PvP, but might have a slightly better chance of survival while traveling or working the first-aid tent, it would also help defend against mobs while traveling. Based on spirits of Earth and possibly Metal.) Tier 4: Balance of Life: (LifedrainSpell—SLOWLY drains life from target into self. Based on spirits of Energy, Death, and Life.) BATTLE: Tier 1: Meditation: (Equivalent to Prayer. Replenishes personal health regardless of hunger and speeds up regeneration, activating after a cooldown. Must remain absolutely still. Any action or reaction, other than emotes or speech, cancels the spell.) Tier 2: Ancestral Blessing: (As healing hands, but with chances to fail and harm the individual (the Ancestors are displeased with them). Fail chance diminishes based on shaman's individual prowess, however never fully goes away (reflects Ancestors more likely to make exceptions for a devoted shaman, but some people just really piss them off).) Tier 3: Quiet Storm: (Provides the user with a Damage Buff and Damage Resistance buff (potion based). This would be an advanced skill that requires much practice and devotion to the skill to master. If possible (I am not sure how difficult this would be to program) but there could be a system where those who have not mastered it end up with one of two effects. Both effects reflect the caster's inability to perfectly balance Rage and Serenity. They could have a 50% chance to have too much rage, causing the damage buff but reducing damage resistance by twice the amount they would have gained and a 50% chance to have too much serenity, providing the damage resistance but reducing their damage by twice the amount they would have gained as a bonus.) Tier 4: Krugmar’s Wrath: (Force Push which also turns the surrounding land into sand. 5x5 diamond-shaped wall of cactus ((8 cactus total)) that forms around the player. Must be on sand for the cactus to spawn. The cactus disappears after the spell’s effect wears off.) MAJOR: Up to Mogroka ALL SHAMANS: Tier 1: Daze: (Allows you to perform a powerful blow with your staff that dazes your opponent. Must be entirely unarmored and have staff in hand.) Tier 2: Spirit Walk: (Blink—Take yourself out of the physical plane and teleport through the Spirit World for a short moment.) Tier 3: Feast of the Flesh: (Life Drain, but regaining hunger rather than health during combat. This would go well with an increased hunger debuff for orcs, essentially you’re staving off the hunger by satisfying the lust for the blood.) ALL SHAMANS, CONJURATION: Tier 1: Form of Wolf: (change into a wolf, unable to interact with objects or use armor/weapons, but does as much damage and is as fast as a wolf, along with visuals) 70% chance of success / If failed, slowed by 20% for the amount of time the buff would have lasted and 1 heart of damage Tier 2: Spiritual Balance: (ReachSpell) 65% chance of success / if failed, unable to place/destroy blocks for the same amount of time the buff would have lasted Tier 3: Chant of Krug: (transforms surrounding blighted area back to its normal state) GROUP: Summon Storm: 70% success rate depending on the amount of shamans / If failed each shaman gets hit by a lighting bolt. -

See? Shamans > Druids. Anyways-- Yes, Blaw, Ned, I agree completely. The certain types of shamans (Battle, Elemental, Major) would all start with certain spells. I'm guessing the tiers would start like this: ELEMENTAL: Tier 1: Lightning Tier 2: Mental Corruption (Nausea splash potion effect on enemy, ConfusionSpell) Tier 3: Balance of Life (LifedrainSpell) BATTLE: Tier 1: Meditation (see Ned) Tier 2: Quiet Storm (see Blaw) Tier 3: ??? MAJOR: ??? ALL SHAMANS: Tier 1: Daze (see Ned) Tier 2: Stoneskin (see Ned) Tier 3: Feast of the Flesh (see Ned) ALL SHAMANS, CONJURATION: Conjuration: Tier 1 : Spirit of Wolf (buff to speed) 60% chance of success / (20% debuff to speed) 40% chance of failure Tier 2 : Form of Wolf (change into a wolf, unable to interact with objects or use armor/weapons, but does as much damage and is as fast as a wolf, along with visuals) 70% chance of success / If failed, slowed by 20% for the amount of time the buff would have lasted and 1 heart of damage Tier 3 : Spiritual Balance (ReachSpell) 65% chance of success / if failed, unable to place/destroy blocks for the same amount of time the buff would have lasted Tier 4 : Chant of Krug (transforms surrounding blighted area back to its normal state) GROUP: Summon Storm 70% success rate depending on the amount of shamans / If failed each shaman gets hit by a lighting bolt. -

Yes, but as I /said/, they need certain tiers to work! To unlock the magic, you have to go through certain tiers. You cannot learn the next spell in the tier without knowing the previous spell! It's supposed to be balanced like that. -

I like those ideas, but we can't just allow all the shamans to have all those spells; each shaman needs to part of a certain "tier" of spells. Maybe each shaman has their own, since we all specialzie in different things! But the thing is, we need tiers. Maybe for a certain element, maybe for elements altogether, maybe for major spirits.. i'unno. -

I kind of wonder how something would change a person into a block. It's easy to change the skin and size of something, but why make it a block? -

I was thinking, for the Elemental shamans, something like this: Tier 1: Spiritual Waterfall(GeyserSpell): Creates a geyser of water that sends a player or mob into the air for a short amount of time. No damage. Based on the Water spirit, which is one of the easiest to learn. Tier 2: Chaos and Order (ConfusionSpell + Splash Nausea potion effect, including on self): ConfusionSpell, from the plugin Respiren linked, makes all mobs around you confused and attack each other. Nausea, which is a natural potion effect stored within Minecraft, makes a player's screen wobbly, like if you're in a portal. Nausea would be a splash effect, along with ConfusionSpell, but Nausea would ALSO AFFECT THE CASTER. Based on the spirits of Chaos and Order. Tier 3: Balance of Life (Drainlife Spell): SLOWLY drains health from a player/mob until spell is interrupted (maybe a certain amount of damage taken, or maybe "casting" the spell again just cancels it, or both options are viable). Based on how all things must be balanced (if you take, you give) and spirits of Life. -

Shiftnative, would there be able to be a subsection of Shamanism? Like, for example.. It would be like, say.. There's shamanism. Within shamanism, there's three groups- Elemental, Ancestral, and Major Spirits. Each of these would be allowed to use the Group and Conjuration spells, but also would be allowed their own Tier 1-3 spells that the rest of the shamans could not use. -

Oh, /wow/. O: Thank you! So, in that case, I was thinking about something like this for the all-shaman "conjuration" spells: Conjuration: Tier 1 : Spirit of Wolf (buff to speed) 60% chance of success / (20% debuff to speed) 40% chance of failure Tier 2 : Form of Wolf (change into a wolf, unable to interact with objects or use armor/weapons, but does as much damage and is as fast as a wolf, along with visuals) 70% chance of success / If failed, slowed by 20% for the amount of time the buff would have lasted and 1 heart of damage Tier 3 : Spiritual Balance (ReachSpell) 65% chance of success / if failed, unable to place/destroy blocks for the same amount of time the buff would have lasted Tier 4 : Chant of Krug (transforms surrounding blighted area back to its normal state) Group: Summon Storm 70% success rate depending on the amount of shamans / If failed each shaman gets hit by a lighting bolt. -
So, recently, Respiren started a thread about a new "Anima" magic system. The link is here: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/49673-anima-magic-system/ This is an amazing topic, but there's a few things I found most important about it. I, of course, knew this could be great; we finally get magic! The thing is, unlike the other groups, /we/ get to choose what spells we get, as long as we don't become overpowered. I know that there are the three types of shamans-- Major Spirits, Ancestors, and Elementals. I, personally, was thinking that we could have sub-sections for the shamans-- each shaman would have to choose one of the three to use, and of course, we'd have to think of spells for it. This is our job to figure this out! We should all collaborate on our efforts here to get us the spells, or else we'll be left with nothing. EDIT: REMEMBER, these spells are "base" spells-- we can have combinations of spells, so it could be like a buff and a debuff at the same time.

Lex'Lur looks at Blawharag, nodding in agreement, but his face is in the slightest grimace for a moment. He then makes his face expressionless, and begins to speak again: "Ah. Latz make good points, brudda. I agree wit what latz have to say. I gruk dat da races can nub, nub yet, understand the spirits. That is why I wish to teach dem of da spirits. I am one of dose "exceptions", as latz say. . . I understand da spirits as much as lat do. I wish to spread da knowledge of the spiritz, as I already have been doing. None have been successful, yet.. but I will keep trying. Anyways-- I understand what latz have to say, and agree. But, also, az I was saying-- We need ta share our knowledge of da spirits. If ash of us dies, den da rest will not gruk what dey gruk. I do not dink we should write down or record, for books can be easily stolen, but what we can do is teach each other for further generations. Do latz agree?" -
((Damn I wish this clan war could've waited until the server was updated >_>))

Lex'Lur paces within Krugmar, deep in thought. He's realized a lot in a short period of time and needs to figure out what the Shamans need to do. He believes them to be discordant lately, and he knows not of a place for them to meet. He simply summons them to the oasis in the middle of the city, sending out his darkness spirit messangers to tell them. When the majority of them had arrived, he would begin: "We 'ave been separated for too long. As da races, including the Uruks, have grown technologically, mentally, and border-wise, more mages have come into Asulon, races have fallen into da shadows and brought to da light, da Shamans have remained idle. It be time for us to help. First of all, we need to learn from each other. Blawharag knows most everything dere is about the Major Spirits and Ancestors. Mogroka knows about the Spirit World and da elementals of things like emotions, disease, war, etcetera. Nel'thok, while absent, is probably da master of Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. I'd like to think m'self to be a master on da spirits of dings like Time, Space, Life, Death, and Darkness. We all have sumtin to offer, an' we need ta collaborate. More importantly is da relationships with Asulon and da races. Personally, I believe dat-- maybe, jus' maybe-- we could help.. expand Shamanism. We are a force dat, while rooted deep with da Uruks and shall always be part of dem, I believe dat da Shamans cannot be fully part of any race. We need to help da balances of da world. We must force, but not force any one race instead of another. I personally like no true affiliation with a race. I have only affiliation with the wonders of Life and civilization, the flow of Time and its effects, and the Spirits in general. I would like ta hear all of latz's opinions on this. Latz might want to klomp me for this statement; I can guarantee not a skahin' ding. Banish or klomp if latz wish. I simply have brought to attention what I find to be da future of the Shamans. Da spirits have shown me the way to greatness. I see da Path. Da true Path to figuring out Life. I'm already on my way. Everywhere I follow it, it brings me to where I need to go! So I followed it to dis oasis. And I knew what I had to do. I had to tell latz all about da future of Time. I know dat we need to seperate to get to our full potential, to help the world to get into full Balance, and to force all da right things onto the world. Please, do dink about this, fellow Shamans. I see the Path. Follow me and help the Shamans prosper."

((Wait. This.. this was /serious/? ..what?))

What are you going to do for Shamanism? From what I've seen, each shaman has a (slightly) different lore system, and all for different parts of Shamanism (Blawharag covers the Major Spirits, Mogroka covers the Spirit World & The "Emotion" Elementals, Nel'Thok seems to be specialized in Earth, Fire, Water, and Air, Brevias seems to cover the elementals in general, and I focus on the more specialized elementals.) I don't think there's much Ancestor lore, really..
