Like all Alduu'uuranean, they lived freely in space. Massive ‘Lounge Ships’ were the start of all life for Clans. A highly coveted prize, and many found themselves serving on them. As this circular history continues of these pirate species, the Groukoxxot Clan slowly has come into play. The Groukoxxot were not quite the Pirates plundering the galaxy like some of their kin. They have lived on the fringes of civilization, in fragmented factions. Most spent their time mining, and scrapping. Artefacts, bounties, and cargo hauling were also common. But like most Alduu'uuranean, there was always more potential. Many saw this amongst the many different factions. And so they banded together to form the Groukottox Clan. One of many different splinters coming together. Hundreds of years before the present, this fearsome Clan came from humble roots. Over the decades these simple miners were becoming increasingly wealthy. The combined Clan efforts proved a big boon to their small economy. As decades turn into centuries, more and more the Clan looked outward. Supplying other more militaristic Clans, the Groukoxxot became increasingly involved in piracy. They grew and adapted with it, casting aside most of their menial mining roots. As time leads up to the present, the Clan has long since shed their roots. Now in their twin Lounge Ships they roam the stars, seeking prey and riche
  2. Westerfield Federation For the past year the new Federation was busy on complete internal reform. The hundreds of tiny provinces and autonomous zones has been tamed. Now Westerfield is mapped with state borders. Each state will have it’s own government, bound to the central Federal government. With centralization like this well underway, things had turned more to elections. State and Federal government were fully open. The new states and voting districts prepped and ready for voters. Turn out rates are expected to be huge. Citizens of the old Confederacy were always active in their democratic governments. Now they were all guaranteed the vote. There were several parties that had been formed over the past year for this. The biggest was the Federalist party headed by Levander Bixby, Joe Brayden, and dozens of former senators. They held the most connections, trust, and power in the old Confederacy. They had largely kept together, stepping from Confederation to Federation. They represented the status quo, and the strongest supporters to the Pact. Their two biggest opponents were splinter groups from the old guard. Kalinina Olena Yemelyanovna and other more hardline conservatives broke into their own faction. The Conservative and even slightly monarchist National Front was in fact a large power base as well. Ironically their power stemmed from the three states in former Ozan. Former Royalty, Nobles, and Governors all ran for election in their states. Besides the odd fluke, they had secured most of the seats in Ozan. The far weaker Conservatives and Monarchist in Westerfield proper saw their chance and aligned with the growing Ozani factions. The smallest faction, but perhaps the biggest threat to both, was the People’s Party of Sarida. Headed by Lieutenant General Kazim Hussametin, they were known fascist. They also were firm supporters in the Sardian Pact, most having served in the war. Though almost universally despised by the average Democrat, they were important enough to garner support from Ozani and hardline Westerfieldans. As Election results roll in, a rough line is drawn in the sand for the parties. The Federalist as expected made large gains in the Central Government. Perhaps surprisingly to some, they also took a majority on the state level. Every Westerfield Confederate had been a democrat, and still were. They supported total freedom, and the chance to live and vote like this. The National Front made some gains in the Federal government, but nothing notable. However in Ozan they were quite popular, and had the majority for now. The People’s Party of Sardia was relegated to a back seat, with almost no seats on a Federal Level. On a State level they were beaten or chased out of town. There were also several other parties scattered on State and Federal districts. 1897 Income; 265,400 Population; 78,304,885 26 AP Mod Actions Armed Convoy Barracuda once again sets out from their base of operations at Baresh at the end of storm season. 3. Westerfield Federation Across the burgeoning Federation were the new States of the Federation. The storm has calmed after a year of politics and voting. The Confederacy though founded on sound ideals, was flawed. Every little power and acre of land had it’s own mayor. Factions could hold up hundreds of acres of land to their discretion. What President Levander Bixby was calling for was complete Federal reform. And with the support of the Army, especially Brayden, and the Senate, things seemed good. Westerfield will never give up it’s core of freedom. But the time had come to regulate and officialize their great nation. States will be formed out of the local regions in fair manners. Each state will have the rights to regulate and make policy within their boundaries. But all will inherently answer to the new Federal Government in Rork’s Ridge. Votes are expected in an entire new round this year. State and Federal government seats were fully open. President Bixby got what he wanted, but now it was anyone’s game on the road to Federal power. In far more simple terms Lieutenant Kazim Hussametin arrives at the Pact colonial city of “Emmeria’s Shame”. General Brayden had personally requested he came to the city to lead. Bedecked in T-90 armor, the General was a fearsome sight. He and a coterie of officers and quartermasters are soon establishing operations in former Emmerian barracks. The local population was rather simple, but still a pool of manpower. Likely candidates amidst the men and even women will be drafted into arms. Hussametic grimly promises freedom, training, and a place in the glorious Federal Army. As thousands of raw recruits march in circles around the city, weapons of war are built within.... General Kalinina Olena Yemelyanovna is on a far more uncertain mission. Her expedition last year had actually managed to find land. But it was a frozen Arctic tundra. Regardless it was claimed in the Pacts name, but seemed fruitless. For now she leaves behind a detachment of Troops and Scouts. They will be left to build a small outpost. Kalinina has her eyes on what she could of possibly missed on her travels. Armed Convoy Baracuda will return home from the Artic this year. 4. Westerfield Confederacy Field Marshal Joe Brayden and his Gunslingers chomp on cigars, and spit phlegm and tobacco onto the ground. Fully armored in T-90 power armor, they feel invincible. The Valdenian army was just witnessed fleeing right past Joe. They all shared a good laugh as the sullen Yoeck drove by. The two general stared at each other, giving small nods. Due to twist of fate they were now neutral. Joe and his men had been itching for a fight. But it seemed there was no need, victory had already been secured. The Empire of Valdek was gone, and to door to Ozan wide open.... At the borders of Ozan they rapidly tried to go above Field Marshal Brayden’s head. The Ozani tried to surrender to Carnelia and the Sultan. But they were duly informed Westerfield was the authority in the West. Now the Ozani Royals are forced to deal with these power armored men. A fug of tobacco hangs around them as they victoriously march into the capital of Erzurum. As negotiations begin, it is clear Ozan has reached the end of it’s Monarchial ways. The old Caliphate is to be democratically incorporated into a newly formed Federation. President Levander Bixby, and both houses of Government, are calling for Federal reforms. The volatile nature of the Confederacy is now too unreliable for such a massive Nation. There is need to turn each province into it’s own self managing states. Ozan particularly was in heavy need of reform. Though the aristocracy is kept, their titles cease to mean anything besides honorifics. They are allowed to run for government, just like the poorest Ozani can. This year is all about voting and growth in Westerfield. Will the Confederation evolve into a centralized Federation? 5. Westerfield Confederacy The War in the West has erupted this year. For long enough the Confederacy stood and made ready. Sardia is torn in the flames of war, and needed sound heads to heal it. And so General Joe Brayden is authorized to take the Westerfield Army on an offensive action. As reports filter in, he is already liberating Nazr. 6. Westerfield Confederacy President Levander Bixby sighs wearily and sits down with his cabinet. Alongside a General with Brayden’s report, the day promised to be tiresome. Arrayed around him were the people keeping the Confederacy running. Generals like Brayden and Yemelyanovna were shaping an army out on the prairie. But here the cogs of Government churned as always. On everyones mind was the Klendari-Carnelia war. Though already involved, life continues normal for now. But in the Common House, emotions were flaring. Many wanted total peace, or the opposite of total war. Others cautioned neutrality. But it was clear the Senate and Cabinet were committing to war. As news filters in of great battles, the Confederate steel begins to harden. The Old Powers of the world were all backing this shameful war. One meant to put down Sardian independence for good. The very same nations who conscripted millions of Westerfielders, were now backing a nation intent on subjugating them. The people of the Confederacy came to this land to escape the Old World. But with it now knocking on their door, choices had to be made. Westerfield will pour her economy into being able to defend herself. Recruits rally in every town, and Politicians lead fiery speeches to the masses. Meanwhile General Joe Brayden continues to form the Confederate Army. While guarding the border, he also is busy forming a proper system. The army is modernized, and Corps are formed. Already more and more men pour in. 7. Westerfield Confederacy The vast open prairie was a stunning vista for all new comers. Usually they could see herds of cattle and horses ranging on all the grass. Hamlets and small towns littered the land, many populated by even just a dozen. Ranches and farms took up acres upon acres, and where many newcomers would end up. Generally the trains were for the rich and military. Most travelled by wagon, horse, and their own feet. General Joe Brayden speculated the Ceylon conference and watched the other occupants of his train car. Many were businessmen and pastors of powerful churches. They had taken Westerfield’s offer just like any other class. All sorts of nations were represented in just this one cart. Eventually the train reaches the capital of Rurick’s Ridge. The capital was a proud testament to Westerfield’s roots. The city hosted a vast population for the prairies standard. It was all situated along the spine of a large ridge spanning a few miles. The gently sloping sides of the ridge formed to a gradual flat and level top. It was an odd sight in the otherwise flat land of grass. And it was an odd engineering feat indeed. It had been artificially made by a prospector of the name Rurick. What was truly unique about the place is it overlooked a massive battleship graveyard. Westerfield was host to many vast air-fleets. Many recruitment ships to suck up manpower from the land. The largest battle had taken place right over the now sprawling Capital. As Joe Brayden takes this all in, he steps off the train stations platform. His business for now was not in the Capital. President Bixby and the cabinet knew about the failures at the Ceylon Conference. His new task was in front of him, camped in a large pasture near the city. The Confederate Army was a small but proud one. Full of firebrands and veterans of the Great War. Many did not want to fight in that terrible undertaking. But now they volunteered to serve the Confederacy. However a order from the Government and Secretary of War had a tall order. General Brayden and his staff are prompted to begin a complete overhaul. 8. Westerfield Confederacy President of the Confederacy Levander Bixby sighs and sinks deeper into his chair. He flicks a match on the table, and promptly lights his cigar. Mr. Bixby was a big man, one with an appetite. His top hat, and black dress suit were crinkled and tattered. Suede patches covered the worn out elbows, and his tie was hand made from the prairie. But one could not say he was a poor man, he was humble. His fortune had been carved out of the prairie, and it’s people. Levander was a man of the people, one everyone could trust. Sadly Mr. Bixby could not say the same for the men arrayed around him today. Westerfield was a volatile land, and one that had only recently become a true Nation. Many people were fleeing from their past. Millions flooded in on the promise of land and a future. And they were being handed one piece by piece. All were welcome, and their word treasured. Every town and hamlet had its council. Committees were formed to resolve issues, and the people on it came from all walks of life. But as one went higher up, the risk became greater. The risk of power and greed. The new Government of the Confederacy has certainly raised the stakes. No longer could different factions sit in their little plot of land. They were all bound together. Now law and power was decided here, and everyone wanted a representative. What resulted from the formation was a simple system. The President and his cabinet formed the executive branch. They were in place to finalize the bills that the Chamber would vote in. The Chamber of Ordained was the elite and rich of the Confederates manifesting their power. They ran the various organs of the Confederacy that made it run. However they were kept in check by the massed ranks of the Peoples Council. The largest branch by far, every single settlement was allowed representatives based on their population. Every Westerfield citizen had the right to vote, and they eagerly did so. Nationalities were from across the world, and ideologies varied. But out on the prairie their culture had blended, and neighbors looked out for one another. This great democratic experiment on the frontier of the known world was a peculiar one. With no elections coming up, the Confederacy was in a turbulent time of policy making. They had stayed aloof of foreign affairs for a full two decades. Busy times of forming Westerfield, it’s military, law, and everything else. But more and more the world proved to be too connected to ignore. Plenty of wars and fights had erupted. The south itself was a tense place, one of posturing Sultans and savage raiders. For now the various branches of government can all agree, Westerfield needs more internal reform. But friends and trade partners were needed. Envoys are sent out to begin Westerfield’s entry into the global politics. *In other news Westerfield’s open arms immigration policy continues. 9. Name of Nation: Westerfield Confederacy Type of Government: Confederacy History/Culture: The history of this sad land is a quick and volatile one. Tucked away in the rolling planes and desert of the South-West, it is a desolate land. One where few have ever tried to live. The land is mainly home to the roaming tribes and nomads of the deep South. Few live on the edges of this great grass ocean, but none have dared to delve right in. But in a testament to human industrialization, this was fast changing. More and more these vast swathes of open land were being looked at with ambition, not fear. And this is how the early years of Westerfield begin to take shape. This was a lawless land to begin with, one of rampant violence and failed fortunes. People came in trickles at first, then more and more steadily. Ranches and Plantations were set up in the vast range of prairie. There was so much land neighbors could be measured miles apart. Towns sprung up on the routes leading ever inward to this open land. As more people came to this land, so too did big business. Rail-lines were forged as arteries for the cities fast growing. Enterprise, mining, it all starts to pour in. Over the course of a century this land has been growing in fits and starts as technology allowed living here to be more feasible. However this was a fractured land of dozens of cultures and languages. A place where many from across the world saw opportunity and took it. The scattered companies and towns running Westerfield did not discriminate. Any was welcome, and there was always room for more. As time went on each generation of immigrants formed their own power blocs and homesteads. The growing shape of this land was one of inclusiveness, any were welcome to settle. This melting pot of civilization was what was thrust into the 1800’s. A wild land, bursting with potential and energy. Where one could buy a pistol for cheaper then a meal and board. As the modern era was truly reached, Westerfield was becoming more then a blistering mass of humanity. It was taking shape into an actual group of people, as different as they are. The land and work had brought them all together, and their welcoming arms always allowed more to come. The various families, big business, forts, homesteads, all the various factions, were more and more linked. And so this fledgling land enters the jaws of the Great War. A time of great woe and death for the people of Westerfield. Hundreds of thousands of people were conscripted by various nations. Nations who sent vast recruiting fleets, tearing the people from their homesteads and ranches. With no official Government, the people fleeing from all over the world brought the world with them. As the Great War progresses, more and more people call for more action. Always quick to oppose “centralization” the different factions are slow to embrace this. But as the War rages on, the need for action is confirmed. And this is where the official Westerfield Confederacy is born. From the fires and ambition of the Great War, a multi-cultural Confederacy of people’s on the frontier of the modern world take a stand. Westerfield joined the Anaraein Confederacy, and saw the war through until its end. After the war the people of the land were changed forever. The need for some form of Government is immediately agreed as a need. Westerfield continues to reform it’s Confederacy. Joe was on the wrong side though when the Westerfield Confederacy formed, and declared war on the Free Provinces. But Joe was stuck in the armies, and could hardly escape. 11. Gwangnan Dominion With the start of a new year marked a very rarely seen event in Gwangnan. A succession crisis, several wars, and an unstable regime has led down a treacherous path. For centuries the peasants and Imperial Family had lived in harmony. The Tetsuo clan were born administrators and diplomats. Years of training and Imperial upbringing brought each new generation into the mantle of rule. In stark contrast was the lesser Yukiko clan. Many of them were generals and officers, skilled to fight and maim. They had always served under the yoke of Imperial rule like every other clan. Their one claim was their ancestors had married with the Tetsuo clan, forming Gwangnan. But the Great War showed outdated notions barely survive in the test of combat. With a changing world, the Dominion had remained stagnate. While other monarchies reform, the Yukiko clan has been repressing and killing. The culmination of all this has led to the Imperial Assembly of 1889. The Yukiko clan was aware of their lack of enough power to truly seize it. And so they are forced to call for a Government meeting. One allowing even the lower classes. Though the IGN was loyal under Miyoshi, the IGA was dubious. Karwarkami Adachi had led them, though perhaps not well. But they were a hotbed of trouble and revolutionary ideas. The Kandistani wars had proven that. Every night men died, or were captured. Many had exchanged news and goods, perhaps even ideas. The Military all together, even if loyal, was insufficient for the task. Gwagnan is a nation of millions upon millions. The Aristocrats were a more complex matter. Some were all together done with the Tetsuo/Yukiko rule. Great Lords and small alike eyed the empty throne. Some even were growing in support, and strutted into the Conference Halls in full pomp. Many others still were hardline loyalist. Either to the dead Tetsuo clan, or the Yukiko Generals. But a troubling mass were in the middle, or against a continue Imperial rule. With this on all their shoulders, they file into the Chambers. Last, considered least, but in the greatest mass, were the Gwangnanesse on lower rungs of society. Few had any noble blood, or were of mixed blood. But excluding the Priest, Nobles, and Imperial Family, they called for most of Gwangnan. Business and Factory owners, Rich business men with no nobility except for gold. But there was also their employees, and masses of workers. Many farmers and tenants from the rice fields also formed a good bulk. Though the peasantry lived on very low rungs, the cities and towns were mostly educated. Though dirt poor, Gwangnan valued its’s Education and Aviation above all else. Many had formed small parties, or pacts. With this swirling mass of representatives from all provinces, comes chaos. The Nobility and Imperials box themselves off in comfortable high up seats. Above the roiling mass of Peasantry in the central chambers and benches. The Yukiko clan in their entirety lined chairs facing them all. Though Gwangnan was historically hardline monarchist, many parties have been festering. Especially after the horror and defeat of the Great War and Mountain war. By and far the largest opposition was two very different parties. The GCP [Gwangnanesse Communist Party] was a giant amongst the lower rungs of Gwangnan. But many liberal students, thinkers, and farm tenants were learning quick from the 1st Internationale’s creed. Though they lacked a true universal agreement on Communism, many leftist and socialist agreed on the basic principals. They all wanted land, peace, and rice. Their opponent is the White Lotus party. It is comprised of several lesser Yukiko and aristocratic families. They opposed their more expansive cousins trying to seize the Throne. They instead idolized Corvin and his power in the former Free Provinces. The Communist were their natural enemy, but they also wanted the Yukiko ruling to go down with them. The middle and democrats were largely divided, lacked focus, and were being bought off. The parties big and small convened on and off for over half the year. More and more the different classes and ideologies were butting heads. Prominent members of all the parties were rising into the spotlight. Shiraishi Moriko of the GCP was a stunning actress in the capital. She performed operas and plays with her peers. But she was a avid activist, and amongst the inner circle of many revolutionary thinkers. Many times she stood against men like Shibata Yukiko, and preached equality. Hiroshimo Miyazaki of the Lotus was their own “Little Corvin”. He tried to emulate a mannerism of a Imperial conqueror. But he was a small man, with squinty black eyes. His ruthless streaks in the underworld and military had solidified his true power however. The Yukiko’s like Shibata and Miyoshi represented their families interest. But as the arguments wore on one thing was clear. With the Tetsuo clan gone, the Yukiko’s reign of autocracy and repression had caught up. More and more they were sidelined, or swayed to change sides. The GCP and White Lotus continued to grow and expand their influence beyond the conference halls. Eventually the political debates came to very heated points. Shibata Yukiko ordered the halls cleared, and the conference closed. Due to no progress, the Yukiko’s in a final bid for power order the talks over. They will rule as they have been, allowing for a new government to be drafted in five years. The IGA is tasked to clear the Hall and secure the Capital. But as the massed crowds of angry men and women struggle against the troops and police, a pistol shot rings out. A police officer had been wrestled to the ground, and his weapon taken. Shibata Yukiko is hit in the stomach, slumping into his chair. A bold GCP man continues to advance, lining the pistol up. In that time as a last resort, Shibata pulled a gun and fired hastily. A massive roar spilt the chamber, and the bullet sailed over the assassins shoulder. The person it hits head disintegrates, falling with a dull thump. Pale faced, the assassin is swarmed in a mass of his fellow members. IGA troops start firing blindly into the crowd and GCP, while other try to help or even return fire. In the chaos everyone pours out of the hall, their ears ringing from the shots. After so much, Gwangnan had finally been tipped to the point of change. As the Yukiko clan crumbles under the loss of their leader, and the animosity of everyone else, new powers rise. The White Lotus rightly cast the blame of Shibata on the GCP’s doorstep. They retaliate he was about to seize power, and expel both parties. But words were quickly becoming not enough. Firm leadership from the GCP, and prepared organization, gave them a massive head start. It was suspected from the start the Tetsuo clan was catering to the masses, in a bid to contest the Yukiko’s old grip of power. Many revolutionary thinkers had been patronized, and trained. Others had gone abroad to Kandistan and the USP, or even further. Most were educated, and knew how to cater in turn to the massed peasantry. These enlightened thinkers wished to usher in a new and modern age. One where the classes were erased. The White Lotus though full of toughs, former Yukiko members, and aristocrats, was highly fractured. Many lords stick to their little mountains and land, fearing the peasants. The troops they do have are demoralized IGA remnants, or radical militia groups prone to slaughter and terrorize. They practically have to force peasants to farm and behave at gunpoint. This fear, distrust, and hate, sparks a quick and decisive series of skirmishes and fights. The more disciplined GCP launch preemptive strikes on the White Lotus. A string of assassinations, beatings, and attacks begins. Bands of troops launch strikes into Lotus armories and garrisons. Millions upon millions of peasants also rise up in revolt. Centuries of misrule has led to deeply bound hate. A red wave begins to envelop Gwangnan, as the GCP announces it will hold a Convention at the start of the new decade, 1890. 12. Gwangnan Dominion This year marked the end of a successful five year plan for the economic sector. At the end of the Great War the Dominion had been reeling in defeat. Millions of their finest troops had died. Hundreds of airships, rice fields, and towns burned to ash. As the new decade rounded, Gwangnan was poverty stricken, barely even able to maintain a navy. But thanks to investment and planning, they had more then doubled their economy. But to the Yukiko clan’s horror, it seemed the Dominion was still for all intents and purposes a backwater. And current events had thrown the entire leadership into confusion and hostility. Word has filtered throughout the aristocracy and elite. The Emperor had been declared officially dead. This rose several immediate problems for the Empire. The Gwangnanesse royal family had always been from the Imperial Tetsuo Clan. Though the Yukiko clan held power in their hands, it was through force. For centuries their family was a lesser branch, meant to serve. They had always done their duty as Generals, Administrators, and Provincial Governors. But as their power grows, so to does their authoritarian dogma. They more and more became the power dominating every other class below them. While Tetsuo figureheads like Shintani and the Emperor himself catered to the masses. But with both of them dead in very dubious and unconfirmed manners, public resentment is bubbling. However with both dead there is no surviving Tetsuo family left. The Imperial line of Gwangnan had been terminated in a twist of brutal luck. Naturally the Yukiko clan was left to completely dominate every facet of the Government. The sole opponent left to them, the disgraced Kawakami Adachi, is relieved of duty. He disappears, rumored to have fled the country with a small band of loyalist. This left the army and IGN as a tool to the Yukiko leaders. Tiptoeing against full scale civil strife, they issue a mandate. Every province and City will send representatives from the aristocracy to convene in the capital. Under Yukiko tutelage they will seek to determine the Empire’s path in lieu of this Tetsuo disaster. It is a move to placate the ruling classes from outright revolt in support of a Tetsuo cult springing up. Somewhere in the Free Provinces former Lance-Corporal Tank continues his arduous trek. Initially pursuit was light. But as his former master fully realized the situation, danger had intensified. Trekking through the mountains was a large task. But one experienced Imperial Guard had some luck in the matter. Days were spent hiding in caves, listening to the clean drone of IGN corvettes. Nights were spent half blindly scaling mountains, and descending the other face. Local farmers were coerced for food, but avoided when he could. With all this at his back, the tattered soilders crosses the border dressed in clothes bought of a Gwangnanesse peasant. 13. Gwangnan Dominion Events abroad were coming to a major point of concern for the isolated Empire. Generally they ket to their vast mountain ranges, while the outside world kept out. But the Great War had changed that. The Empire had set out into the world for years, slaughtering all they could. Their own mountain ranges were invaded. In savage back and forth war the shackles of the past are gradually broken. More and more Gwangnan is becoming an interconnected piece in a global facade of avarice and power. And what the Yukiko clan saw around them was more upsetting then anything. Though the Republic of Emmeria was seen as a friend and partner, the same could not be said for many others. Kandistan was still prancing around, gloating of their easy victory over Kawakami Adachi. But this year marks a turning point in Gwangnanese history. Thanks to a large investment, Shibata Yukiko was able to speed up his plans. Already the Empire was making preliminary designs on dreadnoughts. But that is becoming increasingly clear to be a mammoth task. Instead he is forced to backtrack. At the behest of many family members, they urge a more realist perspective. The Empire desperately needed more funds, and better ways of mountain combat. The industry had to be grown eve further, and city growth encouraged. Things were made hard with the lack of easy travel. But perhaps with the advent of the radio, at least words could travel fast. *With this in mind, General Adachi is ordered to continue the IGA expanding doctrine. Scientist and Veteran Officers from the war are contracted to assist. They will take the lessons learned from the Mountain and Great Wars. 14. Gwangnan Dominion At long last a peace has been concluded to a pointless war. Though the communist nations were deplorable, the Empire was in no state for another Great War. Pozharin seemed the same, with their teetering economy. After a Voltesse ambassador cleared the air, the various nations could come to a peace agreement. At long last the IGN could be recalled, and the IGA could try to save face from their humiliation in the war. Already new infantry equipment was pouring in. Modern state of the art pieces such as shovels, bags, etc. The IGA had a long path though if they sought redemption. In other news a vast quantity of revenue pours into the Clan Yukiko coffers. 15. Gwangnan Dominion The tremors of war and terror are felt throughout the Empire. 1883 marked a drastic change in the way war is conducted. No more can the Great War be relied on so fully. Kandistan had become a true enemy to the Empire. The assassination of the gloriously radiant Shintani Tetsuo is placed firmly in their lap. And their continued victories in the field were making a mockery of the IGA. Grand Admiral Miyoshi and his fleet were not exactly breaking records. But on the home front matters were far different. Orders directly from the Emperor are sent to General Kawakami Adachi. He is made certain that the war must be changed. With Imperial pressure, he enters this new year. And for a third time, he and the General Staff change tactics. Who knew what horror would come in the mountains this year. With the assassination in the capital worrying many, law becomes even tighter. The average Imperial Citizen is being rallied to assist in the fight. As always a careful eye is kept on food supplies. The Rice must always flow, to sustain the Empire. Gwangnan is gearing towards total war, after such humiliation. Everywhere sergeants tend to flocks of volunteers. Given funds directly from the treasury, the IGA is given the reigns to try and achieve some form of forward momentum. The expansion and improved armament of the infantry will be paramount. Next year the Empire’s premier infantry rifle will hopefully also grant a keen edge. The death of Shintani was also a loss of the Empire’s Head of the RnD Department. A replacement is quickly ushered in to continue leading the multiple teams. Sakuma Yukiko is quite opposite to her predecessor. Squat and frog like, with eyes almost slit into her face. She failed to shower much, or brush her hair. Many suspected it was to nest the birds, who thought she had a hollow head. But she was sharp, perhaps smarter then the Tetsuo dog who had strutted around like a doll! Shibata had secured the role, skillfully placing yet another family member into the top ranks. The Yukiko level of control was almost unrivaled now. Only the Emperor himself, and General Kawakami Adachi were of their inner circle. And one was hardly out of teenage hood, the other disgracing himself on the battlefield. As for the Emperor he mourned the loss of his aunt. She was the last role model to him. And more importantly of his small political faction. They sought to enlarge the middle class, and bring about industry. 16. Gwangnan Dominion Massive crowds flood the capital streets as Admiral Miyoshi Yukiko readies his precious Navy. The IGN was the pride of the Dominion, and an elite force. They put on a show for the crowds as they depart north. The Battleships surrounded by the smaller ships fly by in formation. A single volley is released in salute of the Emperor. A sullen brigade of IGA soilders sit in the Freighter, few fans of their accommodations. The fleet heads off to the Tsardom to continue the promised fight against the USP. As the cogs of war churn, it becomes apparent things are becoming more dire. For as the IGN leaves for glory, at home trouble strikes. The odious Kandistani regime in their mountain holds was forever a thorn in Gwangnan’s side. And now with USP urging, they had become a knife. General Adachi of the IGA is tasked to hold the line with whatever units he can patch together. As the fight grinds on, across the Dominion Imperial officials are put to work. They begin to better administer much needed funds directly to fledgling Dominion companies. This growth will be the start of a resurgent Dominion. With war erupting on all fronts life can be far from normal. The Dominion under the Yukiko regime keeps a very tight grip. Order and Law must be preserved, and the indoctrinated masses kept fed. The Emperor of the Tetuso Clan continues his mediocre rise to teenage hood. Spending little time in his palace, he instead tours the hundreds of small Dominion towns and hamlets. A peculiar sight, the Emperor arriving in simple IGN garb. The Yukiko cared little for his moves, especially if he was seen groveling with peasants. But he was an earpiece for the Tetsuo clan. 17. Gwangnan Dominion Miyoshi Yukiko and his entourage stood at perfect attention. A middle aged man, he regardless held himself with great control. Miyoshi was not a man to be trifled with, and radiated control. A prime member in the Yukiko regime, he helped this lesser branch of the Imperial Family take control. As a reward he was given what he ever truly wanted; a Navy. It was he who had ensured the full embracement of Airships. The crews were trained to peak performance, the training programs brutal. As The Great War began, the young Admiral Miyoshi entered it with gusto. Throughout the countless wars, he kept earning more and more victories. Using Airships in cunning ways, and the power of his men, the IGN was seldom defeated. They flew above the blood of the trenches, and earned glory next to the stars. And yet things had taken a turn for the worse after the War. Though alive, Gwangnan as a whole was battered. Vitramite productivity had dropped to basically zero. The IGN watched as Shibata and other prime Clan members argued over the IGN. Many were hearing rumors that the fleet was going to be mothballed. Miyoshi himself was furious, but kept his reservations private. He would trudge on as loyal as ever to the Dominion. But it stained his pride, to see his elite crew making preparations to put the Airships to rest. As they stand watching this all, a messenger in Imperial livery hurries up. Bowing to the Admiral, he offers a scroll. Taking it angrily and opening it, the Admiral reads the letter. Then blinking his eyes, he reads it again in disbelief. Mothball procedures are cancelled. With a burst of energy the Crews start reversing their work. They begin to prepare their Airships for once more glorious combat. As the months roll by it becomes apparent why. IGA troops start to arrive in the airfields, guarding large shipments drawn by serfs and ox. Freighters as well help with a more modern touch, dropping their cargo off into massive warehouses. It would seem though they lack their own, Vitramite was flooding in from somewhere. Emperor Kanemoto Tetsuo signs an official declaration of war, many months after April 16th. In a show of solidarity with their northern monarchial neighbor, the Dominion will join the war to stem the Red Tide. 18. Name of Nation: Gwangnan Dominion Type of Government: Empire History/Culture: What one from [our] world would call Japanese in appearance, the Gwangnanesse as hunter gatherers roamed the vast continent. However they were small and fractured even this far back. Other tribes and even predatory animals were killing them off one by one. With little option left, they flee to a vast mountain range to settle and grow. The people of Gwangnan had for centuries had kept to their agrarian roots. Cities were small, and often isolated on mountain tops. While the more numerous serfs worked the valleys inbetween. The population was never vast. But over time it did begin to grow with agriculture improvements. As mankind took its first steps to civilization, Gwangnan went with them. Soon these various mountain tribes and princes were past purely surviving. The Gwangnanesse shared similar looks and language to one another. But at this time few had any real identity of their race as a whole. Instead service was owed to the local Warlords, who kept the fertile valleys safe from raiders. A proud people, fights were often ceremonial. But when it turned to real wars, their was very little mercy. For centuries these tiny Clans and Families kept tenuous grip on their segments of the land. But near the 1500s technology and ideas were flowing in faster and faster. With more supplies and troops, Princes could now conduct campaigns past seasonal limitations. Entire Mountain Holds will fall now, where it would have taken years. With less need to farm, warriors were now also becoming true soldiers. Expert fighters, who served in the service of greater Lords or Houses. Entering into this scene was Kimoto Tetsuo. His Clan was a small and insignificant one. Tucked into a single city, deep in the Mountainous heartland. However Clan Tetsuo had many of these newly formed Soldiers. All loyal to Kimoto, they were an ambitious group. A neighbouring Warlord of the Yukiko Clan had two daughters, with no direct heir. Using this, and their power, Kimoto managed to arrange a marriage. The shrewd Lord knew a succession crisis would be worse than marrying off a daughter. But he had just set great wheels in motion. After the passing of his step-father, Kimoto Tetsuo-Yukiko claimed inheritance to both Clans. However his wife's younger sister was married to a cousin within the Yukiko clan, and their family forever granted the Princedom within this Mountain Kingdom forming. With the forging of these two powers in a time where alliances were slim, all had changed. However Kimoto was a clever man, and cautious. He instead set out to win his conquest by first paving the way for it. It’s at this time a form of national identity is formed. Instead of referring to the two Clans, they instead form the Kingdom of Gwangnan. Based off the small city belonging to the Tetsuo Clan. They see all the various tribes as belonging to it. With the shared culture and language, the Kingdom sets off on a massive propaganda campaign. A decade later, and the middle aged King begins the Age of Blood. With several sons, and nephews from the Yukiko branch, he rides off to war. Many had already been maneuvered into sharing this Pan-Gwangnan identity. The Kingdom and its vassals, allies, and spies, had fought half the battle behind closed doors. But staunch resistance from more traditional Clans vehemently opposed this union. Ultimately it took the rest of Kimoto’s life, and his son’s. But the various Warlords though powerful, never had the shared unity of the Tetsuo-Yukiko Clan and their confederation. In less than a century, the Kingdom of Gwangnan has secure total victory over the Mountains and Valleys of its people. It is here and in the next few centuries that the total integration of the state takes way. Clan Tetsuo and it’s heirs raise themselves to full blown Imperial status. Clan Yukiko joins them, serving as Crown Princes, Generals, and other secondary roles to the Royal Family. The people of Gwangnan are taught and forced to see themselves as part of a whole. Old history and tradition is eradicated in the name of securing a centralized state. The army is an instrumental tool now used against its own people. The death of the old age is announced when the last Bandit Warlord surrenders his sword. Now Industry and Technology consume the new Imperial family and their allies. With total control, and vast mountain ranges, mining operations begin. The populace is forced to slave away. Below the mountains mining, and between them farming. All the while the warrior caste of the Empire rule above. The Mountain Forts and army ensure total control, generally led by Yukiko born Generals. As we near present day, it is clear the Gwangnan Empire had risen above petty infighting. Perhaps through a brutal police state, but a semblance of order is in place. As such, they grow with most nations Industrially. Always one to educate it’s upper class, and seize the initiative, the Empire embraces the age of Gunpowder and Steel. The biggest hallmark, is the advent of the Airship. With all these tools now in hand, the Empire had set out up to now to revolutionize it’s military. However a long ago made mistake had finally caught up. The Yukiko Clan forever serving as Princes, Administrators, and Warriors, had gained considerable following. This ambitious lesser branch of the Imperial family had ingrained themselves in it’s society. Shitbata Yukiko, a famed General, was the final nail in the Tetsuo coffin of power. In a time where the Tetsuo Clan could only field a boy Emperor, Shibata was a seasoned leader. Through years of intrigue similar to Kimoto of old, Shibata seizes the reigns of power. Using the Boy Emperor as a figurehead, Clan Yukiko rises in prominence. This coincides with the start of The Great War. Something that will wrack the Empire into almost destruction. The Gwangnanesse were always eager to war, and did so time after time. Year after year armies poured down from the mountains. Serving to fuel the bloody and endless war. Trenches became homes, and death a friend. As the war advanced, the eager embracing of newer and deadlier technology rose with it. The Dominion studied the war, and used it to improve their army. Killing became easier, and across longer distances. It became easier to subdue their own people. The rise of Vitramite changed everything. Using their mines, and labor, a new age is entered... As a show of power after the devastating war, the Gwangnan Dominion is formed. Though still an Empire, Clan Yukiko now rules the government. Hopes of the ordinary citizen are soon crushed. This Clan is even more repressive, and authoritarian. In a massive purge, the Clan uses the loyal army to secure control. Sadly for them, the army then becomes the biggest threat. They too are purged, leading to the new Dominion Military. Full of zealous troops, dedicated to the Yukiko Clan, and Dominion. We reach present day, where Kanemoto Tetsuo, the former child Emperor, has come of age. Still a figurehead, he is under firm Yukiko control. Shibata has retired, handing the reins to his numerous Clan family. Starting Points: Size 6 Aviation 10 Education 10 Army/Navy 4 Notable Characters: Emperor Kanemoto Tetsuo [Shogun] Mihara Yukiko [Grand Admiral] Miyoshi Yukiko [General] Kawakami Yukiko [Top Scientist] Shintani Tetsuo More to come in RP! National Idea: 1 Civ Industry allowed per .5 instead of .75 Unique Units; Dragoons; Veteran troops picked from the NCO ranks at early ages. These men are selected for their physical and mental endurance and skill. They are trained for years to fight in a new way. On Airships, and in modern war in general. These Dragoons will excel in Airship operations, from boarding enemy ships, to assaults on ground targets and beyond. This elite caste is meant for the growing war in the skies. Combat Engineers; A new term, for a new age. These troops are skilled in the mechanics needed to keep the Dominion’s vehicles and equipment functioning. Typically staffed on Airships as well, they add a keen edge in preparing and operating modern equipment. They can also when pressed serve as an actual combat unit, using the latest modern technology to fight. They are handy in taking over enemy vehicles and using it against them as well. Typhoons; A new breed of Airship. Similar in size to a Heavy Cruiser, but with an entirely new purpose. These ships are heavily up armored, and given powerful engines. However their use in combat is almost negligible. Their sole purpose is to launch boarding parties on other Airships, and conduct operations on ground targets. Proof that you read the rules; Ireland eats raw potatoes.
  19. The Scarlet Order A strange year for the Order, one of simmering anger. Across the island Forges were growing cold. Once vast plumes of black smoke had suffused the air. Now Forge-masters angrily sulk while their apprentices try to blend into shadows. For the serfs of the Order little changes. The large tracts of fertile farmland still needed constant attention. On the mainland near the Castles, the Order quietly waits. Rumors fly of the Lord Commander meaning to call the banners. Couriers are flying back and forth across the border with lyon. It would seem something was up, but where it would lead none knew. Assembled in front of Lord Commander Lennert Cornelis was the might of the Order. In a council chamber deep within the Citadel of Kalias, they have all been summoned here. Cornelis sat in the towering Lord Commander’s chair, looking over a few rows of stone benches. His three Lord Captains sat front and center, directly under his eye. These three; Lord Dervaux, Lord Walravens, and Lord Damiens held the three principle Castles in the Order. Dervaux commanded the defenses and Knights of the island of Kalibas. Lords Walraven and Damiens held the two Castles on the mainland. They split rulership in two, with a western and eastern contingent. Between them all they managed the day to day affairs of the Realm, and it’s Knights. Other such members were the Master of the Navy, Admiral Colin Bonte. Lord Bonte had long ago given up a steed for ships. His Knights and Men-at-Arms were warriors of the sea, and tended to the large Order fleet. Besides him was the Master of Horse, Maxime Van Roy. He cared little for the Order politics, and simply tended to his vast herds. He was also responsible for the Quartermasters of the Order, and keeping it supplied. Given some form of honor were the human representatives of the Order. The Squire’s daring commander Paul Martens. He led the fearsome contingent of Human Cavalry considered worthy enough to ride with the Roche to war. They were the elites, and relied on for their speed over pure power. Master of Arms Hendrick De Sorten sits by the Squire. This man alongside Roche Battle Captains led the more numerous Human Men-at-Arms. A few other humans and Roche of less repute filled the benches behind all this assembled Power. “You know why I called you all here” The Lord Commander barked out. Instantly the low murmur of voices ceases. “The Forges have stopped, as Lord Van Roy has been pointing out for some time” Cornelis gives Van Roy a sympathetic nod. Who for his part sits there brooding as always. Across the bench, Lord Walravens is quick to stand up. “It has been coming for some time and we all know it! Yet again I propose we take what we need. Allow me the Banners, and we will carve out all the resources we need” At this a few cheers are heard, mainly from the lower Roche officers in the rear. Lennert Cornelis simply stared at Walravens with fury in his eyes. The age difference here was palpable amongst the Roche. Where Cornelis and the Officer caste had mostly seen the fall of their Kingdom, and the long centuries of war, some did not. Walravens was of the newest generation of Roche. Battle tested; but young and brash. As more of the Old Guard died out, these firebrands were filling their boots. Again the Lord Commanders voice fills the hall. “Sit down Lord Walravens. As I have told you before, your men will not fight the Lyonesse. You will find that words and vows of honor go farther then sticking your neighbors with a sword.” The Knight sullenly sits down, only for another to pop up. It was the Master of Horse Maxime Van Roy, and Admiral Bonte. Together they waited for the clamor to died down. Bonte started. “Lord Cornelis, allow us to interject. The navy has also felt the pains of this lack of any true resource. Maxime agrees that we must put it to use before it rots.” Looking to Van Roy, who nods in support, Admiral Bonte continues. “Allow my men, and the Quartermasters, to sail out far and wide. We shall peruse other nations, and find any we can work with.” Cornelis eys them, them simply ask. “What will we pay them with?”. At this Lord Van Roy speaks up. “My Lord, though we may lack in coal and wood, we have plenty of fodder and grain. Surely the large harvest of the Order, and it’s skill in crafting, will pay for the raw resources we need. Leave it to me.” Standing up, the Lord Commander simply nods and walks off. As he leaves, the various factions all eye each-other. Some with venom, some with ambition. *And so the Order navy will split off into various groups. Mostly pairs of Cogs and Galleys, they will sail to the known nations of the Order. Once there, they will drop of Order Quartermasters, and scribes. If no mutual language can be found, they will simply try to express and visualize the trading of goods. Where they can speak, the orders are simply made. The Scarlet Order will sell it’s excess harvest, and Crafted goods, in return for raw resources such as Lumber, Coal, and Iron. Lyon is looked on particularly, since they share a border. Tariffs are reduced to encourage the flow of trade into the Order. The Carracks will patrol the waters, to try and ensure open trade routes. **In other news a brave and perhaps foolhardy Knight convinces others of his Banner to join him. What will perhaps become a legendary quest in his eyes has drawn others in. Sir Damon De Valck and nine other Knights abandon their job of Border duty in Lyon. Leaving behind a note promising to return heroes, they ride eagerly through Lyon. Their ultimate destination, the grand North-East border of Lyon. There, they will seek to help in any fights that erupt from raiding Brutes, and earn renown in the battles. Actions *Sending the navy to go and find trade deals with any willing Neighbors/Increasing military patrols to secure trade lanes. **Ser Damon’s Quest [!] With talks increasing between Lyon and the Scarlet Order, a sore issue has been rectified. Lyon’s southernmost town to the east of the Order lay directly in their path of expansion. In return for pledged military support in case of war, the land is ceded to the Order. The Lyonesse population is given the option [and encouragement of the Lyon Lords] to leave. Those who wish to stay will be incorporated into the Order, or deported back to Lyon if they lack the skills the Order demands of it’s people. [!] Continued work on the newest Carrack of the Order. Though complete, the Roche seek to mount catapults on the deck of the ship itself.
  20. The Scarlet Order A somber song of the Lost Kingdom Kalibas dominated the eye when one was on the island. It was a large Citadel built decades ago, and standing strong. It was the heart of the Order and it’s logistical center. From here power and provisions roll out to the various fiefs. Its walls were a dull grey hewn in large blocks. Scaled to the size of the Roche, everything was larger then what a human would be used to. The gates were broad affairs, the wood not as good as one would like in these grassy lands. The Roche’s attention to metal working was apparent in the portcullis, a double piece of solid craft. The towers were blocky, and bordered the walls regularly. A new innovation had forward ravelins jutting from the walls. Supported by Bastions on the flanks, these craft covered more angles for the human archers. The Knightly Order that called the Citadel home are a faded one. The Roche had long since fled from their homes and Kingdom. Many had even lived through those days, and carried it with them ever since. Lord Commander Lennert Cornelis is the current leader of the Scarlet Order. Having seen the fall of the Roche himself, he had been a part of the mass migration away from the chaos. Though the centuries Lord Cornelis had earned more and more renown in the many wars. For the past century he has held the Order on a steady course. He knew more the most their precarious postion. Cornelis himself towered above most Roche, eight feet and up. He was a vast Roche, a mountain amongst any other Knight. Even the famed Roche horses could not bear his weight. Older then most as well, his hair was grey going on white. Not many Roche had died of old age, and perhaps Lord Cornelis felt this keenly. Though he had vanquished all foes, to end his history dying in a bed reeked of cowardice. As he slips even further into old age, a cloud swirls on the edges of his mind.... Serving the Lord Commander directly were the Provincial Commanders of the three fortresses. One being Kalibas, and the two mainland castles. These three managed the daily affairs of their administrative regions, and cared for the Knights in their control. Directly under them were Order Captains. These lords took a more direct approach, leading their banners of Knights in battle and peace. Below them were the Lieutenants who ensured orders from the top flowed down to the common rank and file of the Roche elites. The common Knight of the Order was also largely independent, not sticking to their banners all the time. All in all the Roche stuck tight to an officer system that demanded discipline and rewarded those that show initiative. Almost all Roche are great riders on their massive steeds. Though ponderously slow if armored, the Order in war was a fearsome sight to behold. Those to massive to ride like the Lord Commander simply walked. Their armor crafted from the experts in the forges of Kalibas itself. The more human Men-at-Arms made up the farm more numerous contingent of the Order. They were all drilled on standards akin to what the Roche themselves faced. Life in the Scarlet Order was never easy, or dull. No true nation or state, these men were all in a Military Order, and acted as such. They were also well equipped, and organized. The logistical and light arm of the Order, most Men-at-Arms were expected to merely support any Roche action, not act on their own. One coveted rank in the Human Ordermen was the Squires. These humans were allowed to ride the younger pony Roch steeds. Taking great audacity and skill, this elite Human branch of the Order led the regular Human yeomen cavalry, and sometimes joined the Roche Knights in a charge. Some Roche were forced as punishment, or volunteered to, lead the Men-at-Arms in pitched battles as officers. -- *As the Scarlet Order continues to organize, and stabilize, their priorities are simple. The Forge-masters are expected to continue churning out the well made equipment dominant in the Order. The year is spent ensuring the continued smooth flow of supplies. The largest priority being given to the production of arms and armor specifically. It would seem the Lord Commander was readying his Knights, and even the Men-at-Arms, for military operations. More reasonably, it was apparent the Order needed to be ready and strong, to face the myriad of close threats. **While the Forges have their task cut out, a growing need is that of the Captains leading their various ships. The Roche fleet though modern and capable of artillery, were still mostly slow and ponderous ships. Having to accept this for now, the Shipwrights focus on continuing to build more of these war ships. These newer models can hopefully be fitted to hold more complex forms of artillery then small pieces. Mod Actions *Continuing the status quo of Arms and Armor production, alongside general equipment. **Attempting to build more war ships Diplomatic Actions [!] A Knight of the Order is sent to travel the lands of Nao Zhu and Nao Phyn. With not much known of these states besides their falling from grace, the Roche see a similar story to their past. However they also see a potential threat. This Knight, Bram Fremault, shall simply go to learn what he can of the people. A further retinue is sent to Lyonesee. They are offered to participate against the Roche in a friendly tourney on the border
  21. Discord: You have it Civilisation (Name): The Scarlet Order Capital (Name): Kalibas Government: A militaristic Knightly order coming from a long since faded Kingdom. Led by the last of the Aristocracy and Knights, it is a top down system without much upward mobility. The main way even a simple commoner can rise is simple. Through martial skill and bravado. Racial Distribution (Primary Race, probably minorities?): ‘Roche’ These creatures are not quite human, but similar in nature. Far fewer in number and birth rate, it becomes apparent why. The Roche are large and dominating species, going as high as seven to eight feet. Their life spans are far longer, most dying in combat rather than of age. Their skills are solely with combat, riding, and other Knightly aspects. This aristocratic elite used to fill every hold and castle. Now only the very last hold any sway, through sheer ferocity and power. ‘Humans’ The largest sect within the Order. Long ago in the times of the Kingdom humans were hardly even recognized. They were seen as weak and inferior cousins. They lacked the skill or strength to ever rival a Roche one on one. But as the Kingdom bore on through time, the cracks and seams grew deeper. The constant war like nature of the Roche between each other has always led to death and famine. This has led to a now very present need for a strong working class. And thus the ordinary humans make up the most populous race in the order. Racial traits (as needed): ‘Roche’ – Very Proficient in combat, riding, and war. Though their life-span is longer then average, their population is very slim, and does not replenish fast. Religion (Whatever you prefer, you may be creative): Though the old Kingdom worshipped a strict set of Divine gods, that gave power to the King, the old system is shattered. The Order prefers to worship ‘Canbrai’. A god renown for being a patron of Blacksmiths. Most however believe the power within themselves. Most are not very pious, but keep motifs and devotions to their patron. Technology & Arcana (that is notable; have you pursued magic? Be fair and remember to do tradeoffs):Never exactly focused on the pursuit of Arcana, or enlightenment, the aggressive Roche were focused on more immediate and pressing pursuits. Though they lack any true piety or faith, as well as magic, they make up for it in their own skills. Forge masters, armorers, smiths, simple craftsmen, they all pioneer and innovate newer and efficient ways to make war. Where there should be temples and churches, there are instead forges and workshops churning smoke into the air, and weapons into hands. They have also begun pioneering in ranged pieces. Some they plan to even be more then a catapult or trebuchet. Things that can belch great clouds of smoke, from a volatile powder. The more domestic side of their technology follows the line of current feudal systems. Description (Culture, history, politics etc): Though aggressive and war like, the Roche follow a strict set of common decencies and agreements. They show honor where it is due, and rule with a benign hand. With the reduction of a Kingdom to one Knightly order, things are far simpler now. The Aristocracy acts as a ruling class, dictating policy and wars. The underclass of humans fill out the more essential task of actually keeping the Order alive and industrious. Geography & location (As detailed as you wish, with a note on the map below as to where your realm would be in existence): The Island of Kalias. A fertile and hilly isle dominating the Gulf the Order sits in. It’s main defense lies in the Order defending it. The isle itself is not particularly a natural defense. It however is good for supporting life, and trade. The small strip left to the Order on the mainland is more of the same. Rolling pastures, and lush farmland. However though not naturally defensible, the Roche have worked on extensive fortifications. Castles and outpost dominate the landscape in between farms, protecting them. On the isle itself, a large Citadel that houses the Scarlet Order dominates. The ports and isle exterior are ringed with less impressive forts. Size (Tying in with racial distribution, as well as geographic location. Be just, the map is only that big): Very small, the Order is a shard of a once great Kingdom. The small ruling caste of Roche dominate a much larger Human work force.
  22. [Klagenfurt] Mercantilist Confederation Across the now sprawling realm there were many sorts of people. Gone were the simpler days of farming just to survive and move on. Though the Great Plague had ripped away many souls, they had survived. And anywhere where there is some level of finance, there is merchants. The Confederation had formed gradually over decades. Ruling out other factions, buying in others, and possibly even killing the worst of their competition. In Klagenfurt itself the League keeps a dominant base. There they whisper in the boy King’s ear, and also the Dukes. Spread across the entire realm, opinions wildly varied. But elected as “Chancellor of the Confederation” one thing was certain. Sophie Brasseur and her vast wealth and loyal faction were the leading element. Her story is one shrouded in mystery and scandal. Not from the Realm, she was a sailor from the southern oceans. Rumored to be a pirate, but officially she was an explorer. She had met her husband, Ormanno Sforza, at a brief stop to the capital of Klagenfurt. A rich man himself, he was a prime member of the Confederation. His power bloc was small, but stable and lucrative in their business. Mainly dealing with navigation and charting of the coast and water ways. After years of courting, the two married in the capital. Becoming a Klagenfurtan, Sophie and Ormanno complemented each other in many ways. She brought a lot of ships into the ‘Sforza Guild’. With so many ships and experienced troops coming from Sophie, the Guild was at a strong position. Though slandered for Sophie’s now openly revealed pirate past, her and Ormanno were still well respected. As the years passed, the Guild expanded operations monthly. Mainly internal, they focused on winning seats in the Merchants Council, and furthering their status in the Confederation as a whole. The Guilds big break came with the onset of the Plague. Already a prime guild in the M.C, Sforza and his Guild profited off the deaths. Their Guild and Family were relatively in tact, and their competition was dying off or selling out. Eventually Sforza was elected Chairman, and their Guild dominated the vast M.C . Tragically though, Ormanno also succumbed to the plague. Taking her original name, Sophie Brasseur was not to be daunted. Though personally devastated, she kept the Sforza Guild running. Her deft handling of the crisis in the later years of the Plague won her the Chairmen seat. Though a women, her wealth, influence, and power, and former husband’s status meant she had all the credentials required. Now at the head of a mostly loyal Confederation of dozens of guilds, Sophie was here to stay. The vast wealth and influence of the Confederation were finally stable, and under proper leadership. They could now turn from their internal bickering, into external profit and policy.
  23. H’Wong Nation With the coming of a new year marks a new milestone in H’Wong history. Their burgeoning Nation has been on a meteoric rise for over a decade now. Their ships have come a long way from their basic ancestors. Now advanced weapons meant more lethality. Their shields and FTL drives were state of the art. Officers led from the command station, able to stand perfectly fine in artificial gravity. Teams of troops patrolled the corridors, state of the art Laser Rifles in hand. On the new colony, thousands have already migrated. The harsh and freezing temperatures the perfect grounds for training troops. More and more barracks will spring up to assist a growing full time army. *But the military was not the only growing asset of the H’Wong. The barons of trade and commerce have already begun to allocate funding to the new colony world. Not only to raise troops, but to research. Some of the Nations top minds are being rushed to this new gem. Ha’Wun drives ensuring they arrived in a timely manner. And so they begin to prospect and study this new crystal. Not risking their own hides, miners and geologist are sent to actually try and harvest some of the crystal. From there it will be taken to a makeshift lab to be studied by the Scientist. They look to find out this crystals chemical makeup, and if it has any unusual properties. 24. Morgan’s Rifles Joe Morgan angrily walks through the remnants of his command tent. The damn raiders from across the river had finally pulled a decent stunt. While his Regiment was abroad, they had stabbed hard for the bridge. A noble ally, but perhaps not as capable, the River-Dale Company delegated to garrison could not prevail. And now his Regiment had to sift through the ashes, and salvage what they could. Though a slight delay to production, Morgan’s Rifles were still growing at a very steady clip. Learning from their mistakes, the newly minted 3rd and 4th Platoon are sworn into Regimental service. Properly equipped, these units will work in tandem with the more Veteran 1st and 2nd Platoons. Together these four Platoons will form the first official Company of the Regiment, 1st Company. The prize of leading this is given to now Captain Pierre Du Faunte. The Regiment now focuses on maintaining their tight grip around the Reavers. Every bridge and crossing point will have a strong Platoon keeping an eye on things. 25. H’Wong Nation For years now the oligarchs and growing space trade barons had been keeping a tight grip on political policy making. Keeping the scientist happy and busy with projects, and the masses with peace and isolation. Profits have begun to flow in at large percentages, but things were to change. In perhaps a recurring drama, the Government and Military wanted access to the growing funds. Having fulfilled their promise of not sending out troops without proper equipment, and ships without proper shields, they wanted to go further. The new colony being established this year will prove testament to this policy. It will be a military world, filled with barracks and training grounds. From here the raw numbers needed to increase the navy and army will fill the ranks. Prospective recruits and younger H’Wong are already being sent there en masse. Also this year will begin the retrofitting of the H’Wong navy, and expansion of it’s army.
