  2. Galaharian League The forest was ever present in this strange land. Ever since the end of the short Numerian war, the Galaharians had been adrift in an ocean of trees. Duke Giovenco Barbaro himself led the host, alongside his illegitimate son Batimo Storm. Numerian rangers led them through this ocean, ensuring they didn’t get lost. And finally the Duke and his war-host had stumbled out of Numerian territory. They pointed him in the direction of Shovia, a Danwentii city close to the border. The Duke had originally planned to rest his host their and meet his old allies. But as always times were shifting to war and chaos. Dodgy news and scouts reported the city was in turmoil, in flames, or rioting, or a variety of other false tales. What was clear was Danwent was in the middle of a civil war, and the Duke was poorly informed. Calling a war-council, they plot their leg of the march home for the next year. Elsewhere Admiral Ormanno Sforza is busy in his occupied city. After being basically emptied, the city held little value to the Republic or him besides morale. Already his merchants were offloading more supplies, more food, from the transport ships. It was clear Sforza was not one to wait idly. The troops and magi are rested, as well as the officers. Though bloodless, the fight for the city had been a long and tedious grind. But here Sforza stood, temporary owner of a city, with hardly a solider buried. - In Galahar itself the League is quite busy preparing for another voyage. New materials, ships, and troops are acquired. It is rumored the League was intent on finally settling the Aulem Peninsula in force. Though they protected Danwent’s portion, the men of Aulem seemed more hostile. Though nothing is confirmed or mad official yet, men are issued war weather gear for the tropical campaign. The most useless cold gear is diligently transported to Throatavilla. There the port is busy as the focal point of churning out ships, artillery, and new levies of troops for the adventure. 4. Qing Empire Emperor Kangxi sat in his throne, overlooking the royal hall. Hundreds had come to the palace today to witness the new turn of events. The Emperor’s adversary have been temporarily halted. Though the situation was not sustainable, some time had been bought. Days ago news had reached the court of a grand victory. The Green Standard Army had secured a fast and efficient victory in Sumatra. The revenues and spices from their tribute would bring back an entirely new market for the Empire. With such a grand victory, the end of Taiwan, and Kangxi’s temporary measures, the time has been deemed ripe to keep Qing centralization rolling. -The first edict announced is the scaling down of the Qing army. Several European attaches sent to serve the Emperor had all agreed. The hundreds of thousands of Chinese troops barely had spears and shields, let alone equipment or training. To balance this is the formation of a entirely new Army. One where the most elite of the Empire will serve. The Imperial Banner Army will be a multi ethnic army, to serve directly under the Emperor. A great honor, all soilders and officers are allowed to apply from any army. The Emperor himself, European advisors, and his top generals will run the screening process. This year focuses on finding 10,000 veterans for the Imperial Banner Army. They are chosen by way of experience/skill, and loyalty to the Emperor and Qing government. Meanwhile 50,000 troops are charted to be released from the army, given rebel land to farm in the south and a yearly stipend. This will hopefully also help a ‘yeomen’ class of loyal Qing in the south grow. -With the Imperial test in full swing, the Emperor has been gathering skilled and intelligent bureaucrats. They have formed the basis of the Emperor’s new centralized government in Beijing. With the south already ravaged from the civil war they were relatively weak. The Warlords had been quelled for now at least. And so now the Qing begin to extend their influence. This year the Officials will travel through the provinces to tally taxes and enforce the law. Local magistrates will be built or expanded upon to handle each local town or city. Governors of provinces will be kept separate from generals, and must answer to Qing law. The magistrates will be backed up with the power of the Empire. Han and Manchu generals loyal to the Emperor will respond to any armed revolts, while diplomats respond to any vocal complaints. The loyalist Generals had just spent three decades fighting rebels and Warlords, and the resentment ran bone deep. This would ensure the reform policy had power behind it. -With relative peace the Qing begin their next project. In the bustling ship yards of Taiwan, they will be an expansion program. Assisted by English advisors, the goal is to modernize the shipyards. Though nowhere near ready to build ships of the line, minor improvements are sought after. Reforms such as giving the workers proper training and lodging, and small adjustments to the junks. Things such as the capability to make triangular sails, and better types of wood combination. The overall goal to modernize the process. -With control of Sumatra in the form of a tributary state, the revenue begins to flow in. The island has granted access to the rich and vibrant trade of Indonesia. Qing Merchants begin to accumulate these goods, and sell them to the growing market of European merchants. The prices of these in Europe are checked, and adjusted for when selling these goods. Most Europeans will only be able to afford small quantities, but each sale will bring the Qing more silver on top of what was gained from the tribute. / In military terms the Qing respectfully refrain from occupying troops. However work begins on coastal forts at the northern tip of Sumatra, and down her western islands. The troops massed there will trade their spears for shovels. Tens of thousands set to work with Ottoman advisors helping, to build as ‘modern’ of fortifications as they can to cover the coast and Sumatran straights. Actions -Demobilizing army/Forming Imperial Banner Army -Continued Centralization -Expanding Ship Yards in Taiwan -Sumatran Market Opens/Sumatran Forts [!] A force of some 25,000 Cavalry under a small General cadre are tasked west. They will travel the route of the Silk Road portion under Qing influence. They seek to instill stability, and root out bandit nest to ensure the trade flows smoothly. [!] After a year of travel, Qing military observers reach the Russian army to witness the war.

  6. l l l Galaharian League *Just in the distance looms the ever present Greenthroat. The forest has earned quite a fearsome reputation in the League. They respect the woods, and consider it home. Neither Narosi nor Arosi, Galahar is a proper Greenthroat nation. Just near the Wet-Throat Ravine, tens of thousands of slaves toil away. Governor Bordatoni of the prosperous port city of Ovest oversees it all. They were staring an actual road system for their stretch of the Greenthroat Land passage. The tree roots were proving quite difficult. But in respect to their Fey allies, none would be cut. Instead the trees and roots would be taken into account and incorporated. This growing road is a blend of humagi and nature. Elsewhere Ormanno Sforza finds himself quite busy as Lord Regent. The first ships had arrived today, laden with expected goods. As promised, his Step-father had sent the fabled Black Army battle armor. This armor however was stylized with storm clouds on the cauldrons, not suns. A few other slight variances overall changed the aesthetic but not origin. This armor was all well and good, for the growing League army. With war on every side, and such a distinct Mistreaver and internal Fallen One threat, tension is high. A grand army of well armored and supported troops begins it’s foundations. Dozens of Banners of troops begin sailing to Galahar’s city of Fortuna to the east. 7. H’wong Nation And so a new world begins under a glorious beacon of democracy. Millions of new citizens inhabit this world, and get to work! The Nation is in urgent need of cash to bail out the various rampant projects. The Navy alone was accumulating the budget of several nations from historic past. However in this modern age scale was ramping up yearly. They could, and would, accommodate for the growing cost. A cosmopolitan world of commerce and finance grows, fueling the research districts. In planned breakthrough, the army eagerly continues their testing of handheld laser weaponry. Promising their troops proper kit and weapons, the scientist continue to toil away. The basic model will be a standard issue laser rifle. The focusing lens and energy clips will be simple, alongside the weapon itself. However the deadly bolts of light will introduce an entirely new era of war and possibility. *Seeking armament of their own, the navy begins their own arms plan. Instead of focusing from complete scratch, cost are reduced. With so many other demands, the navy for now will focus on reworking their Kinetic based weapons. Scientist will work on more proper primary battle canons, capable of shooting bigger shells at further ranges. Testing will also focus on using kinetics on deflector shields, trying to build the guns around countering shields. 8. Qing China Emperor Kangxi’s procession stretched out for many leagues. At the head was ten thousand Imperial Manchu’s. In heavy armor on great war horses, they mad for fearsome troops. Behind them was row upon row of carriage, wagon, ox carts, and other transportation methods. Tiered rows of Korean Matchlock soilders and Han Spears flanked this massive flock of nobility and merchant. In the center, the Emperor’s elephants and Kangxi himself riding one. Ever a fan of these smart and noble creatures, he had taken to riding them at an early age. And behind them all was the longest line by far. The supplies, gifts, and equipment of the mobile Imperial Court. To guard the most important prize was the elite units drawn out of the Eight Banners Army. Loyal Manchus, Mongols, Koreans, and others. *The point of the Emperor moving his court quite literally is multi faceted. The stated and official reason is to tour the length and breadth of China after a victory of a four decade long war. To witness the regrowing splendor of China, help it’s people, and lift up it’s lords. This will help spread the growing Qing control, while not overtly making it look like such. The other primary reason is for Kangxi to sort out the local provinces himself. The Qing and their loyal Green Standard Army of Han had just won a war that cost them dearly. They would not let a resurgent crop of local warlords and officials grow again. But they will not use Imperial muscle. Instead one by one the Emperor and his court will visit these miscreants on their tour. The Majestic Emperor will use his personal power and charisma to either win these lords over, or dispose of them. **In a further act to disperse and dispose of these local warlords, the war in both North and South continues. In another deeper move, the Emperor offers several Generals and War-Lords of his opposition leadership positions. To balance it loyalist Generals will serve hand in hand with them. Many are sent to lead the frontier forces with Russia, where peace is being drafted. Their men will be sent south in larger part, to fuel the growing campaign. This however is all honorable and high ranking task. To refuse these ranks of command would be to insult the Emperor, and forfeit ones rights. – Sumatran War The Dragon rises to the challenge of a glorious campaign in Indonesia, mandated by heaven itself! For too long the natives near and around Sumatra have ignored the Orient’s greater picture. These muslim opportunist were content to fight each-other on their ships, and sell the riches of Indonesia from the lucrative isles further east. The Emperor himself has blessed the Southern army, and given it his best Generals and Troops from the Green Standard Army. The Eight Banners troops have paved the way, alongside the Tributary States. A smooth winter march has deposited a war host and fleet in ‘Singapore’. They have been busy preparing for a oceanic invasion. Tens of thousands of tents litter the coast, and over two hundred ships comprise a grand fleet. Phase I; Ideally the Muslims of Sumatra did not anticipate this was the Qing’s true purpose. The first signs of war would be when the advance elements of Admiral Shi Lang’s [victor of Taiwan!] fleet cross into Indonesian waters. The lighter and more agile ships, these were meant to take on the Indonesians in their comparatively small and weak coastal ships. The two sides will play games of cat and mouse, the goal to stop the Indonesians from harassing the main fleet. Crossbowmen and Swordsmen will accompany each ship, to assist in boarding and close up actions. They may even have to land at smaller villages and bays to instill control. [50 Lighter Junks. Roughly 25,000 Sword/Crossbowmen] Phase II; With the vanguard in action, Admiral Shi Lang, the General staff, and main fleet will begin the first true move. In three separate battlegroups of roughly sixty-six ships each plus troop transports. They will follow up in the chaos of the initial skirmishes, to take advantage of the lull in security, and calmer summer weather. The heavier Junks will move to secure the straights of Indonesia, and secure the troop landings. IF there is no naval opposition, the three battlegroups will splinter further. The purpose here is to avoid the supply drain of massive host on foreign shores. Instead an even spread of Qing troops will begin a full scale invasion of Sumatra’s northern coast. The war truly begins! [200 Junks, 20k Eight Banners, 55k Green Standard Army] Phase II.v; For the landings themselves, it’ll most be standard procedure. With the Junks and lighter ships pinning the smaller Indonesian navy, the more medium ships will escort the various troops transports up to the various beaches, harbors, and bays. Then row boats will begin the laborious process of carting all the troops off the ships onto land. The first to arrive are typically the veterans, to clear and hold the beach head. In most areas little resistance is expected. But in populated landings, many more troops and ships are committed. Priority is to avoid head on beach assaults, and use smaller more discreet forces to land elsewhere, and flank. All canons that can be scraped together are given to the best Junks, and tasked to help crack tough coastal fortifications. [All Forces] Overall the Navy and Fleet will pursue as much gains as they can achieve during the summer. As it turns to autumn and winter, the army will fortify whatever beachheads and land they hold. The Navy will assist and protect a constant ferrying of supplies to the army. The Tribute States of China will not be required to furnish this all, the Court sends it’s own funds for the army and it’s supply. [!] The Muslim Isle of Sumatra is offered the chance to become a Tributary State, in exchange for their continued way of life and religion. This offer will be made after the initial moves where surprise is needed end. – ***Elsewhere several lucrative deals are signed with Europeans. The Imperial court begins to go about inventorying and transferring all gunpowder weapons to armories to later be processed. But the most important factor is the revitalization of gunpowder production. The Han had several caches and factories, having been superior to the Qing in technology. Thus it is there the first matchlock and gunpowder factories of the “modern” age will be built. Preliminary work is relying purely on the Europeans skill and old Han knowledge. Funding won’t be an issue, as the Imperial Treasury donates lump sums made off the Christian trade and tax, and any extra funds needed will be procured. – Actions *Emperor begins tour of China to stabilize Empire after recent Civil War victory. **Giving several troublesome War-lords the honor of leading frontier troops in Russia, etc. – Sumatran War! [War Plans] [They are given offer of peace] ***Matchlock factories.
  9. Galaharian League Celebrations erupt across the entire League. News floods back from the west. Duke Giovenco Barbaro and his Coalition Army had been victorious. Rogue Human powers were halted on their path of expansion. Hakkan the Undying, Chosen of God and Master of Skies and his people will live on, guarding the crucial junction of Hungry Sea and Revar. The Duke had orchestrated and led the entire campaign. In fact he had not balked, and even fought in the front lines. In tow with him were two thousand ‘Freed-Men’. Former slaves who had earned their rights through the trials of combat. This grand fleet arrives in Batista’s Landing with much fanfare, but the Duke comes back to a changed realm.... His liberal policies being fostered had been squashed by iron boots. Slaves were now more then ever watched and worked. The Senate had actually found a spine, and formed a Conservative majority. Always one to try for mediation and optimism, Giovenco did not try to tear down these foundations. But the joy of his victory had turned to as much ash as the Field of Tears. Even now his Freed-men were being debated over, with a likely vote in favor of enslaving them and their families again. With his Duchess gone and seemingly in favor of the senate, Moraine with her, and Sforza a staunch ally of the other camp, the Duke had no allies in the higher circles. However two events lead to his rapid departure. News of his best friend Reggato Salvanzo’s daughters Fallen One worship, and the League’s preparation for war with Numeria. *Hearing bleak reports from his allies in the field, Duke Giovenco musters as fast moving host to assemble. The three hundred Fey Greenthroat riders promise to join the Duke yet again for campaign. They are given gifts and promises, Giovenco knew their true worth. Rallying in Throatavilla, the Duke begins to amass his powers. Proud columns of Stormriders thunder in on their ferocious mounts. Long columns of League knights and their squires drift in from their various holds. Lighter infantry, slaves, the Duke’s ‘Freed-Men’, they all start to arrive. Using his personal finance, Giovenco also deposits a large amount of gold to horde mercenary bands to the promise of a Numerian campaign. Much gold and time had been put in fostering strong companies in the League. **The primarily cavalry force will head out with the Duke leading them to glory. Heading for the Roots of the World, many extra supplies, horses, gold, and everything else needed is brought. The men and horses will have heavy blankets, wagonloads of dry lumber, and Scouts hired to guide them. Using their former scouting knowledge, they’d also have a slight inkling of how the passing is. The main focus is to keep the Horsemen and their mounts ready for battle on the other end. The march begins...... – ***In the League itself Lord Ormanno Sforza is allowed to continue his Regency. Batis Barbaro and Ori Sforza were coming of age, and being groomed for great things. As Sforza and his comrades trained the next generation, domestic policy roles out. 10. H’wong Nation The plotted expansion of the H’wong Nation’s space ambition continues. Even now their Light Cruiser is escorting a colony ship to the frontier. In desperate need of finance, this colony was high stakes. With a full naval and army compliment, it’s as safe an operation as they can manage. Also under the umbrella of the Capital’s Fort, hopes were high. As the colonist disembark, work begins at once to ready the colony for true profit margins. At home increasingly more complex laser technology is developing. Generals are having a grand time trying out the new weapons to a mass of soilders and cameras. Looped across the Nation, it is a great source of pride. And there were far more steps needed to be taken. The Navy science branch is officially scaled back as the scientist are needed elsewhere. To coincide with the new Colony, improved Civil Infrastructure is promised. That alongside development of hand held lasers was sapping the Hive of any excess research power. With the Light Cruiser completed, it marks the start of a new era. One of Naval projection, but in space. More and more cadets enlist, and volunteers flood army centers. With so many willing candidates, the one issue was resources and cash. But with a growing pile of excess, more liberties are to be taken. While the army plays games with their lasers, the Naval Admirals hold office in their orbital fort. 11. Galaharian League Duke Giovenco Barbaro rode on his horse wearily. Surrounding him was the massive stretches of forest on the foothills of the Sacred Mountains. Hakkan peasants were few and far between. Most of them had long fled, or been enslaved. Rogue bands of soilders after the Field of Tears had roamed in packs. What the Karel didn’t burn and enslave, the outcast raided and foraged. The Coalition Host was also a shade of itself. Many nations had lost interest, and stopped sending men. Hakkan the Undying, Chosen of God and Master of Skies was content to roost. And so power lay at the feet of The Duke. Commander of the Coalition Host, and leader of the infamous Adrian’s Army. Giovenco’s work was truly cut out for him. After weeks of marching, the Host was only a few leagues away from where the Field of Tears had taken place. Some swore they could still smell the stench of scorched flesh. The Fey and Galaharian outriders had kept a very careful eye on the Karel host, tracking it’s every move. The Duke had carefully let the far larger Karel host approach Hakkan land yet again. But this time things would be different. They would not stand and meet the Karel shield to shield. Instead the Host will make a fortified camp just off the edge of the forest. In an attempt to lure the Karel host, the Coalition waits in ambush..... - Elsewhere Duchess Arraign Barbaro valiantly leads a massively growing fleet. From Hilmedhi all the way to the Eadni, nations had sent their help. Galahar’s core naval group and army leads the way into an uncertain war. One entirely on water, with what the League vaguely defines as “stakes on a grand scale”. Emboldened by somewhat fresh tales of northern raids, the fleet keeps tracking their foe. The Caravels and Carracks strike ahead, screening the fleet. The core group stays under the protection of the League’s Nuncio, Magi, and Adepts. The net is continued to be tightened. The next stop; Ulaydar. - At home not much of any note filters out to the world. Sforza keeps peace in an iron rip, letting the Senate, Bank, and Guilds do what they’re made to do. The League’s officially austerity plan begins this year. More and more funds will be allocated to be put back into the League itself. 12. H’wong Nation This year marks the true start of any real Naval presence. The glorious Light Cruiser of the H’wong was nearing completion. This sleek, deadly vessel will prowl space for decades to come. The first of many to serve, it’s a true marvel of engineering. Burnished orange, with copper trim. Armed with standard kinetic weaponry, it was typical galactic armament. But the ships launching has coincided with the advent of ‘Deflector Shields’. Still being refined, they will be adapted for ships by the end of the year. Next year the H’wong Cruiser will enter the galaxy, shielded, and ready. While the navy had caught the scientist eye for years, lobbying had swayed opinion. The army felt neglected, and outdated. Whilst the navy had shields capable of deflecting hits, the Infantry had standard issue gear. Picking up where they left off, the newest project is mandated. Military Grade infantry lasers are the next priority. The troops need to be outfitted properly for potential galactic threat. Pairing them and ship shielding will ensure frontier security for years to come. Elsewhere the H’wong domestic front churns ahead as always. With no radio transmissions allowed out of home worlds, things were rather quiet. The people all preferred it this way. Whether life existed outside or not, it mattered little. Life will continue in it’s splendid isolation. Every year more and more educated citizens join the workforce and improve it. Even now a whole new wave of colonist is planned for a third world. It will be one of cosmopolitan splendor and domestic goods. In desperate need of cash, the Government was pining it’s hopes on the latest colony. 13. Qing China Music Far to the east, and then east some more lays a great Empire. One of silk and silver, power and tribute. Many in distant Europe only hear of this place in passing. Embellished tales of palaces of silver, and hundreds of millions. Perhaps once the Aztecs or Maya could have rivaled it in size and splendor. By glorious China now stands alone as a true Great Empire. Their ruler, the righteous Kangxi Emperor, is mandated by the divine to rule. Through them, and earthly power, Kangxi is fast on the rise to China’s greatest Emperor to date. The Qing Manchus were nearing complete and total dominance. Even now a final holdout is falling... Off the shores of the fabled island of Taiwan, a great war fleet lays in anchor. Over three hundreds Qing ships comprised one mass of the fleet. They were glorious in their numbers and detail. Each ship was a work of art, curtailed by it’s Captain. One could tell it was more a mass of ships then fleet. Flag signals and mirrors flashed in communication, and barefoot sailors lounge in the sun. Their duty was over, for now at least. Anchored opposite to them was their previously ships of the Kingdom of Tungning. The fierce Admiral Shi Lang had defeated Kangxi’s rebellious grandson in a truly grand naval battle. Now the two fleets were one, and Taiwan is ruled by the Qing. *Word filters back to the Imperial Court in Beijing. Emperor Kangxi himself had been quite busy on the home land. With news reaching him of Taiwan being subdued, glorious feast is held. After a few days, the proper letters are written out. The Emperor’s commands roll back out to his Generals and Admirals. With Taiwan secured, the immediate Russian threat to the north can be addressed. The Cossack settlers in Albazin had been increasingly bold in their raids and settling. With no further option, their town had to be purged. The Eight Banners army, in it’s faded glory, is mobilized. Fifty thousand soilders shall muster in Beijing, then march north towards Albazin. Their intention is not too engage the Cossacks in a battle. They instead are used for their best talent now-a-days, logistics. These troops begin to clear the way and prepare for a much larger host to advance. However it is rumored some Cossacks had come to Kowtow to the Emperor, and negotiate. **With Taiwan subdued, Kangxi also looks south again. The tributary states in Indochina had by and large remained loyal to the Qing. They paid their due, and honored the Emperor. Taiwan for many had been a final hope of Ming restoration. But the Ming armies were Qing loyalist, dead, or long gone. The Green Standard Army was led by experienced Generals, who paid homage to their Emperor. To test his Tributary subjects, and Generals, Kangxi lays a task upon them. A coalition force of Han Generals and their men will march south to the peninsula of Singapore. Needing only military access from their tributaries, the army pays for what it takes. And yet again the Eight Banners army paves the way, to secure a logistical route of advance. The Imperial Fleet no longer tied down in Taiwan will sail to meet them. [30,000 Eight Banners, 70,000 Green Standard, 250 Junks] – In more domestic affairs the Emperor had devoted all of his attention. The Qing were now in a state of dominance over the Entire former Ming Empire. The Manchus ruled from Korea and their land down to the far south. For years now rule has been increasingly centralized in the Imperial Court of Beijing. Kangxi did not fall for the Imperial trap of opulence and ignoring the outside world. He has already led several campaigns, and secured rule. Edicts that continue to this day are of increasingly important matters. The [Edicts] list such as; -The Standardized Testing of the past is continued to be implemented. Extremely difficult test from the Imperial Court are offered to any who can afford it and are intelligent enough. Many spend their early life in savage schools, for education is all consuming. This ensures the government officials are entering based off their merit, and they are up for the task required. -With peace secured on the mainland and islands, the Green Standard Army not deployed is returned to garrison duties. Many generals and troops are rewarded with pay and plunder. But the Qing will not make the same mistake of lending power and rule to local warlords. It had just gotten them into a four decade long civil war. Now Generals will answer to Imperial Court, not local magistrates and generals. Generals will also not be based locally for extended times. Generals and their banner host will rotate with one another to different provinces, to keep them from establishing too much in one area. -The decrepit system of foreign trade the Ming employed is abolished. The Qing will begin to restore China’s importance on the Asian market. However the Han were the biggest traditionalist. To kill two birds with one law, the Qing focus their attention on their homeland of Manchu. So as not to upset the status quo in Han lands, but to also help improve the wealth of the Imperial core. It is rumored a few European monarchs are invited to send envoys to Kotow to the Glorious Emperor. Christians will be allowed increased trade rights and permits in Coastal cities. To balance such lucrative rights being handed out, the religious tax on Christians is doubled. The increased trade opportunities will help balance out the higher tax. – Actions [Sorry for this many, but it’s the first post!] *Russian War Plans **Sending a Host and Fleet to muster in ‘Singapore’ Refer to the 3 Edicts
  14. Galaharian League Wheels churn throughout the maritime empire of Galahar. In every city rich merchants grow richer, and slaves toil in their thousands. Whilst the League’s nobility is flung across the world on galant adventures, the home remains quiet. As it should be, peace and trade dominate Revar. With nothing of passing interest, little is marked in the history annals for this most drull of years. Behind the curtains however, the show goes on as always.   16. H’wong Nation Another year of progress and research in the Republic. With every passing year the Hive grows and adapts. A nexus of learning, deep in the inner areas of Temshu. The Capital now boasted a sister colony, to govern over. Even now this massive influx of labor was boosting the efficiency of the Republic. Proud soilders continue to garrison the two sectors, residing in the half finished sector forts. Other then that life continues as it always has. Peace and Democracy reign supreme. And construction of a Light Cruiser continues, ensuring H’wong supremacy in their local space. No stories or large undertakings happen this year. Merely a a peaceful status quo.   17. Galaharian League Music Duchess Arraign Barbaro stood in the crows nest of her personal Nuncio. A ship that had fought Mistreavers before. They had painted over the burns, in Barbaro blue and silver. But the scars remained underneath. On this very deck the Duchess had taken a previous wound. Ever since she wears a bronze mask, imaged like the Being that had once given her a powerful vision. Two adepts and three others sat in a ring around her. Summoning a wind every once in a while, the League vanguard speared ahead of the Coalition. The other three were merchants, representatives of the Ivory Bank. All were eager to make port again. Though they had no need for water, food supplies were down to hard tack. “I trust we all know our duty by now?” The Duchess cooly queries from behind her mask. The retinue all nod, knowing she was not one for speaking back. “Soon enough we will reach Worsicani, and the rest of our forces. The true hunt will begin, and you all have your part to play.” At this the five nod, and leave the Duchess to ponder from her roost. In a few days land is dighted, the League’s island as expected. Waiting for them are the Coalition’s proud allies, the Danwenti. Their war-fleet and troops were docking in the League’s newest city. Mingling with the Hilmedhi and Galharian fleets, the three become one. The Duchess is placed as their overall commander, while the other two nations choose Admirals to represent and lead their contingents. *From now on the fleet is on complete look out. Their main task is to hunt down the trail the Mistreavers have been leaving. Picking up troops from their island, the League’s contingent of troops is almost doubled. Whilst they had a different job, the main army will stay with the Coalition fleet as far as Eadni. In fact the entie fleet will now be sailing for Eadni waters. A long time ally and trade partner, the League and Eadni were on cordial relations. They also both worshipped the Deep One. It is the Coalitions intent to enlist the Eadni fleet’s help in the hunt for the Mistreavers. Galahar more personally offers troops and aid in the Eadni war with Mongrellia. The Duchess will personally ask for a parlay with the Eadni leadership. – Reaver-Admiral Ormanno Sforza’s rule has been far from cozy. The whisperings of Slave rights and Democracy had been utterly squashed. Cloaked mercenaries and soilders belonging to lord Sforza roam Galahar at night. No one is safe, and many disappear. Ironically Church and State both endorse this move. Giovenco Barbaro’s progressive party was being outnumbered in both resources and senate seats. A conservative opposition had grown, then surpassed the Barbaro senate. In a further stroke of irony however, this led to the reversal of the league’s liberalization. The Senate and Capital is put back under order, and the status quo retained. League rule will remain absolute, in the hands of the Noble and Rich. Slaves will remain where they belong; in chains. **In more official matters of state, Sforza and the Senate continue to reform and enact their ambitions. The growing Mercenary quarter in Batista’s Landing is continued to be allowed to grow. However Sforza will quietly alter it’s growth from behind closed doors. Continued settlement sponsors and state subsidies are granted to these growing Mercenary Companies. But the League will now endorse those more inclined to support Galahar. Some of the more outspoken Captains against Galahar [Though using their City for connivence] even disappear. Captains and men raised to Captains in Companies who are loyal to the League receive the funds, and more brutal help needed. This is all in a move to start a growing pro-Galahar sentiment in the various Merc. Companies in the Capital. ***The Ivory Bank also continues to ramp up the scale of their involvement in the Passan City-States. For an entire decade now Galaharian merchants and nobles have settled in the passans. They have become completely interwoven into the passanese economy. From the shadows they had even begun to support and foster Passans loyal to the league. Passan soilders and war heroes had even served with the Duke. The Passan Guardians had even joined the League in arms, defending the Storm Keep, to keep the forest of darkness at bay. led by three illustrious passan commanders, they were considered allies and friends of Galahar. ***With all this in mind, the Bank enacts a new wave of policy. They begin to become more firm in their actions to secure friendship to the league. Using their deep connections, funds, and local merchants, the Bank begins to subtly begin to garner support from each Passan City. While some cities were more backwards, like the rural tribes, other cities were becoming cosmopolitan and mercantile. The overall phase of this new plan is to begin and rally the scattered support bases. They will see how much support each they can get from each City and Passan Tribe. And begin asses just how much the League’s investments have paid off for a decade of work. – Giovenco Barbaro, Duke of the League, Lord of Batista’s Landing, Commander of the Adventure Company, Warden of the Storm Keep, and the League’s first Explorer stands proudly in his war tent. A faint mist enshrouds the tent, and is ringed by Leagues-men and Freed-men. Around the tent was an entire war-host. After the Field of Tears, many of these stood empty. But what remained of the Coalition was stronger for it. They have fought numerous wars, in different regions of the world. The Hakkan still stood tall, their army intact. The League proudly trumpeted and marched about. The Fey cavalry kept to themselves in their camp ringed by trees. The Bourdelaic Knights and foot sparred with any they could find. The Hilmedhi drank and caroused with all, new to the company. The Passan soilders sulked about, foraging for the army. ****Hakkan the Undying, Chosen of God and Master of the Skies had personally prompted the Duke to march. Assessing his Host, Giovenco was far from certain. Even before the Field of Tears they had been a small army. Now, well it went without saying. The wounded and dead pile up. But he would never refuse such a order. The way he went about it however, would be far from straight forward. As the army marches on Karel, Hakkan and Fey outriders are launched in numerous bands.   18. H’wong Nation Music This year marks a moment of true history within H’wong Nation. For entire generations upon generations, Temshu has been their home. A City-World of technology and democracy. What they had thought to be a sole bastion in a dark galaxy. But science and logic have been taking the place of superstition. Once H’wong had shunned the stars, and kept to their burrows and small lives. But as always a society must progress or die. Bright minds and strong hearts prevailed over the inept and old. And now dozens of years later, in the present, the H’wong Nation was expanding out of their sole home. Last year a colony had been established, closer to the galactic rim. Opportunist, and regular citizens mostly. It soon became apparent what their purpose on this world was to be. Engineers and Scientist land alongside the colonist, and set to work. In order to feed the ships and equipment needed, an industrial hub will be built in the world. This most basic industry will see to the everyday needs of the growing Space power. And already Scientist study the factories themselves. They will get to work on making them more efficient. On Temshu the daily life as always prevails. Peaceful citizens in their millions live their lives. There was some excitement in the upper city this year however. A military parade had been arranged by the Silver Cloak Guild. Their new ‘1st Frontier Regiment’ was a proud assembly of H’wong warriors. Resplendent in their uniforms of various colors depending on their designation in the Regiment. Banner-men carry a panoply of geometric designs on their flags. Their parade is in celebration of the first H’wong ship of war. A glorious Light Cruiser will be built to patrol their territory. For now the ships have no shields, and the troops ballistic weapons. But it is promised they will have superior equipment in under a decade. – Population; 5.15 Billion Income; 21.5k C, 4 L, 3 M, 13 S, 17 R, 19 T Actions; Building 2 Basic Industry Factories on colony world. -20k Starting a Light Cruiser -3 M [3/9] Research into T1 Basic Industry -12 R [12/25] Continued T1 Shield Research –5 R [12 Total] Income After; 1.5k C, 2 L, 0 M, 15 S, 0 R, 19 T -- Sorry Forgot to show colonization map last turn;
  19. Galaharian League The ports of Batista’s Landing this year are especially busy. Two of the League’s towering Nuncios dominate the horizon. Anchored beside them is a panoply of carracks, caravels, cogs and galleys. The glue to any naval power, something Galahar knew well. Their fleet had suffered a humiliation from the mistreavers power once. But it would not be so again, Galahar was prepared this time. Long columns of merchants, slaves, soilders, adepts, clerks, lords, and all other sorts are making their way to the ships. Ormanno Sforza leads them in all his splendor. He wears a suit of black armor, stylized into a snarling wolf. Behind him are his renown Wolf Slayers, and row upon row of heavy infantry. However as Sforza approaches his Nuncio, he sees someone else is waiting for him... Duchess Arraign Barbaro used to be a beautiful women. Some may still say so, her husband included. But the truth was her face is hideously scarred. Short a nose, ear, and eye, she has a gash through half her face. And so Arraign takes to wearing a bronze mask, in the image of the Being. It serves it’s uses as well, hiding her emotions. It served to reming Leaguesmen of the more firm side of Barbaro rule. Coincidentally, the Duchess was doing just that this day. As Sforza arrives at the docks, he dismounts and kneels. Arraign picks him back to his feet, smiling behind her mask. “My lady, I did not expect to see you here.” Sforza begins, looking bemused. “I thought you had a League to rule, don’t let the likes of us detract you.” Arraign’s grin grows broader. Always one to enjoy the discomfort of Sforza, she states in a rather monotone voice. “It has been decided differently. You are the one with a League to rule. Don’t let me detract you from that Lord Sforza.” As expected the burly Admiral begins to bluster, quite angrily. “The command is mine! The Duke has prompted me to sail east, we all heard his mes-“ The Duchess icily cuts in “Giovenco is not here, and he has given the ultimate command to me, overriding yours.” A few clerks and scribes murmur their assent. They were sticklers for the rules and protocol after all. “It is personal, Sforza. That mongrel did this to my face.” She takes off her mask, showing her wounds. “He killed my men, spat on my family’s name, and slaughtered many innocents. The Hilmedhi fleet will follow me better, and the Danwenti senators praise House Barbaro. I am sailing east.” An so she does..... *The Galaharian fleet under the stern command of Duchess Arraign Barbaro head along the Revar coast. Stopping to meet some Dourdelaic merchants, they continue down to Aulem’s port. Finally, they arrive at the Ivory City. There they pick up gold and supplies for the final trip. It is also when the grand Hilmedhi fleet meets the League’s. The Hilmedhi greet their long lost Princess with joy, and the two navy powers become one for a time. They make a final joint sail to the League’s easternmost outpost, on the Island off the Aulem peninsula. There they will also meet a strong force of Danwenti galleys. Expecting the voyage to take the whole year, the fleets focus on sailing. But a net is gradually being cast to catch the Mistreaver..... – Leaving a sulking Sforza behind to rule proved most useful however. His personal guard kept order in the city, and senate. No talks of freeing the slaves or democracy are tolerated. Though Duke Giovenco to the west is spouting the new creed, the League overrides him. It was however a delicate balance. Barbaro power will be maintained, but monitored. Neither side can be allowed to go too far, thus putting Sforza right int he middle. He focuses on doing what the League does best, being busy. **The Lord of this mercenary fleet is invited to make way to Batista’s Landing for employment. He is however the first of what will hopefully be thousands. Sforza and the League will start to turn Batista’s Landing into the home seat for all Mercenary regiments of renown. What can be offered is their own district in the city, next to the ports. There Mercenary Captains can make their offices, to recruit and conduct business. It will also give them access to making connections with over twelve different nations arriving in the Capital to trade. The Captains will be given free reign to conduct their business, with no tax. The League simply wants to have them based in their Capital for the prestige it entails. Monetary incentive is also offered to base units in the League’s Capital. ***In other more exciting news Sforza finally gets around to the Wet Throat expedition. A few Banners of his best men are selected for the mission. They will hire Fey living within the League to assist in the march. Their goal is to sail to the Wet Throat, near the League’s newest and westernmost town. Basing there to gather supplies, they will then head right to where the roots meet water. 20. H’wong Nation The Colony ship proudly sat in it’s berth, the final work being done. As the ship is staffed, the first arrivals show up. The Capital-World of Temshu was highly coveted in the Nation. It was all their home, and has been for centuries. But the need for more material, more of everything, has mandated a need for expansion. The more rural and poor of the H’wong have been given a one time chance. To start their own lives and houses on a new world. As all these beaming souls load up, the ship begins to charge it’s engines. They will be close to the Capital, and yet so far away. More close to home, on Temshu, work continues into the divinity of Science. Faculties even now have taken on the newest and brightest minds. Clustered around the Hive spire, they all confer with Government officials. Though it was a daunting task, Shielding for their ships was indeed tangible. Confident in their skill, and resources at hand, the Government green lights continued research. The ultimate goal to make the H’wong nations navy and naval staff safer in their expeditions. Telnor Krahn of the Silver Cloak Guild however had other ideas for the Nations allocated skills. He was the rising star in the growing H’wong Expedition Force. He argued focusing solely on Naval shielding would leave them underhanded in other areas. His troops were working with ballistics, a lack luster rifle in his eyes. And his influence has spread, gaining support form several political factions. Ultimately his plan works, and scientist are sent his way. They will confer with soilders and researchers alike, to study their laser mining equipment. They will try and find a way to refine this tech, into a portable Infantry Rifle. In other news Temshu continues it’s glorious rise as a Capital-City World. Even now it’s shipyards, city, and faculties are expanding exponentially. 21. Gaharian League Word begins to filter back of the tremendous war to the East. The battle known as the ‘Field of Tears’ will live in infamy within the League. Having named the battle themselves, as tears and the salt within them were of significance to the Galaharians. Duke Giovenco Barbaro has earned himself great glory, but also great enemies. And not just foreign. Word is filtering back of him seemingly freeing the slaves attached to the army. He had promised them freedom, and they had spurned him. But in the height of the battle, he had earned their trust. These ‘Freedmen’ were now fanatically loyal to the Duke, and converts to the Deep One. Back at home however, the Guilds denounce this motive. They head to the Senate, a archaic and corrupt officials that leads to stale mate. The Clerks and Guilds clamor for reform, and a Danwenti Senator present offers his neutral but democratic opinion. All changes when Sforza docks in Batista’s Landing. Cogs of the League and a few war ships come into the harbor bleating away merrily with trumpets. Sforza rides down the plank on a massive war horse, a gift from the Emperor. Behind him come hundreds of hardened Leagues-Men, each bearing a black wolf pelt on their shield. Bands of his mercenaries and slave catchers follow them. Sforza rides up to the palace, and meets his wife Sophia, and their twin children. Reunited for a bit, Duchess Araign beckons them to council. Though High Priestess Morraine had been avoiding courty, court with her son and adept, the rest attend. What is clear was regardless of what the Duke said, the Guilds move for reform was a threat. Until Giovenco could send word back himself, order must be restored. Sforza and his men confer with local police, and clear the dissenters. Slaves are put under watch, and penned up. The Danwenti Senator is whisked out of the capital and graciously given a tour of the Revar coast, meeting many and more of Galahar’s allies. *In other news Galahar begins picking their best men from mercenary bands. They will be the very first instructed in the ways of heavy infantry. However on a more interesting note, the League makes use of it’s influence. Using their far flung network of trade and diplomacy, word is spread. The League is offering chest of gold for any mercenary companies willing to embark on campaign with them. 22. Music H’wong Nation Chancellor Malax of the Orange Cloak Guild strides down a series of increasingly dim tunnels. Below the Capital of Temshu, things were quite different. Above millions of denizens of H’wong lived their average lives. Police kept an eye on the streets. Vendors with dyed fur crying out their wares. Groups racing around in increasingly new and dangerous cars. The smells of the city were that of nature, and technology combined. The growing “Hive” was becoming more and more of an energy node in many senses. It’s there the bright minds assembles, and the only reason the Nation has ever reached space. From there now continue broad ideas and innovation. Right next to it is the Government Chambers and offices. Hundreds of elected officials all gathered there. Rightfully elected, corruption was low in the higher echelons. Citizens performed directly with the government and voting through an interface in the data sphere of the Nation. But more importantly for now was what lay at the end of these tunnels. Accompanying Malax were many other Senators, Scientist, Generals, and Guildsmen of the political factions. The City itself was nestled in and amongst a large range of mountains. And while the top of the city crowned the mountains and dotted the valleys, the H’wong preferred to burrow into the hills themselves. Thriving communities and entire neighborhoods littered the underground. And below it all was the Government’s most valued chambers. For here the Chancellor and his entourage go to meet the scientist on their latest project. [Recruitment Poster of soon to be H’wong Fleet Commands first vessel ever, enlist today!] As the Government begins to build and research more great projects, normal life continues in the Nation. The peaceful H’wong kept to themselves on their sole world, and had always stuck to their tight knit extended families. But entire worlds were needed for this industry. Likely souls are asked to volunteer for the H’wong’s first ever settler expedition. Following this growing outward look is the need for internal protection. Not quite war like, the H’wong preferred peace and prosperity. However a small peace keeping force is needed to police their newest territory; space. The Shipyards will be expanded, to better stock the H’wong fleet. 23. Application Form Ideas and Suggestions?: Perhaps a bit more explanation of mechanics. Nation Name: Redon Empire Race: Red dar Imperiad. History: The city-world the Redons call home is one of fertile valleys, and deadly jungle and mountain. Much as humans would call it a “City-State” this Redon planet was their home, capital, and only sector of space. However the noble Redons lived in prosperity, never having needed to expand. The Redon and his inner circle rule from the proper city along the equator. Nestled along a thick belt of jungle and volcano, it was a large and deadly place. From aristocrats from across the world pay homage, and visit. Barracks bristle with soilders, and coliseums and fighting rings litter the landscape. Coming into the Space Age, everything had changed. The Redon as Emperor had ambitions beyond just their home world. Their world was filling up, and Lords were increasingly subdividing their lands as more and more are born. Many rich merchants and explorers also clamor for expeditions. All in all, the Empire is looking outward, after centuries of isolation. Map location: Sent ? 24. Galaharian League A pall of anger hangs about the city of Batista’s Landing. What should be a year of celebration, has turned to dust. Duke Giovenco Barbaro had finally returned from his ventures in the west. He had left operations in the Banks hand, and his Passan allies to guard the Storm keep. Somber crowds welcomed him back, as he inspected his ragged fleet. The power of Revar’s Gulf it was said. Until one thing and its serpents had tarred that image. And yet the wealth of the League flows in, and the Capital is a jewel of the land. This year a Church is being erected to commemorate the Being that had briefly touched them all. After visiting his wife, the Duke resume his rule of the League. It would seem his pet projects could wait, other matters had taken precedent. *The most unsettling of all was the troubles plaguing the Hakan. They were a valuable trade partner, and friends ever since the Duke’s wedding. With only vague reports coming in, it seemed the Karel had started this whole accursed war. The western beacon for League merchants, the Hakan were great for stability in Revar. This external threat would not be tolerated. A force dozens of banners strong is mustered in the capital. Mainly Barbaro household troops, they were experienced and well armed men. They travel by sea. **In other news is the Duke’s main reason for coming home. With the west under way to stability and prosperity, it is time again to look to the east. The League’s profitable city of Ivory, and the Ivory Bank’s capital, was just that. One city, and a thin strip of coast. The Aulem were trade partners and friends to the League. But it was clear they could not feasibly settle all that land. And so the League moves to occupy what has laid unclaimed for years. They seek to settle a very strategic island, straddling the trade routes. From there Leaguesmen would set up a proper headquarters for the east. The raids of a certain band of Misty buccaneers had proved the Galaharian fleet had a long way to go. Though not rivaled in size and power, no navy was ever truly safe. And so several more ships will be constructed. The fleet will be repaired, and grown past it’s old size. This goes hand in hand with the growing armament and organization of the League’s scattered mercenary bands. Though the Hakan are receiving help, a true force is mustered in the Capital.
