  2. Morgan’s Rifles Teams of Republican troops move throughout their newly won sector, celebrating. Though they mourned the death of the 3 Riflemen, victory had been achieved. Morgan had personally led his troops on the field. In a vicious firefight, their tactics and skill proved superior yet again. And the growing amount of Reaver corpses in the mass open pit attested to it. And with it came the spoils of war. The troops were combat tested, and ready for more. As the Riflemen consolidate their new gains, Morgan is already moving on. With the victory under their belt, the River-Dale and Riflemen units shift their attention back to the next major objective. With all bridges secure, the Northeast along the river and their frontier was a glaring issue. And so a concentrated push is made this [turn] to secure the ‘East Side’. 3. Morgan’s Rifles The grunting and exertion of dozens of workers can be heard throughout the din of construction. As before, the Colonel and his hand picked team surveyed their new land. They liked what they saw, firm ground to hold in a fight. The marshes and swamps were rife in this area, and boggy. However one particular ridge dominated the landscape. High above the water and marshy planes, it offered the Riflemen a perfect view. And it was here now their efforts are being focused. Standard regiment forts are being raised, as Morgan stakes out his new real estate. However he kept looking further east, towards the river.... *Because there a [redacted] amount of Riflemen were operating their newest mission. Under the stern command of Lieutenant Du Faunte and the engineer Ivan. Their goal was to drive for the river along this quadrant, and root out whatever they find there. This was in line with the already growing defensive live. It was clear that Morgan’s Rifles were staking their claim on the water system in the locale. Scouts would precede the advance, and constantly maintain a line of communication with the home base. Any interruption or alert would rally the entire garrison which is put on standby. In other news five bewildered Riverdalians are taken in as comrades. They are shown around, and given a feast. However the next day they are introduced to life in the Regiment. Every person works, down to the elderly and young. Above all else in the Regiment, the maintenance of the Riflemen was paramount. Ever last solider and staffer is valued. The five Riverdalians are welcomed, and temporarily armed like a Riflemen. They join the efforts of fort building, watching these Advanced ways of doing things. 5. Morgan’s Rifles Arrayed around the Colonel were the best of his regiment. Veteran Sergeants from the Raider war, Lieutenant Du Faunte, Anastasia, Ivan, Private Penny-Bottom. Their reason for being here was the situation of their location. An already hostile entity to their east had tried a foolish crossing of the bridge. It was feared they would be back, and in greater number. But now with another group to the west, the Riflemen would be stretched thin holding both flanks. And so they argue into the night over how to go about this chaos. Many wanted to strike out at the Raiders, but the cooler heads argued the point. Finally, the Colonel followed young Penny-Bottom’s advice, and sent him and ten civs west as a peace delegation. As for their far more dangerous eastern neighbor, events were heating up. The eastern approach to their dock base was dangerously exposed. Only forts and a few warehouses marked their easternmost land. There was no guarantee, the Raiders would be blocked by the river forever. And so Lieutenant Pierre and a [Redacted] amount of Riflemen head off to the eastern sector near them to solidify control. Mainly marsh and ridge, it was more a sector to add to defense, rather then improvements. 6. Morgan’s Rifles Colonel Joe Morgan lowered his Rifle, and sighed heavily. Events that just transpired could hardly be called a battle. Some Raider meat heads and their ring leader seemingly lived right next door. They had tried to demand tribute from the Regiment, clearly not knowing who they were. No European Commonwealth solider would ever hand stuff over to typical Raider scum. And as predicted, they tried to take the tribute anyway. Dozens had charged over the small rail bridge, shouting in anger. What followed was a classic ‘Fox Hunt’. The Europeans calmly scything the Raiders down before they even reached the wall. The Battle of Morgan’s Bridge shall live on for decades in stories, showing how seventeen good Riflemen can kill over one hundred enemies. But Colonel Morgan had a sick feeling this was just the prelude to a much harder fight. Their leader though wounded was not found amongst the dead, and it seemed he had bodies to spare. As the Riflemen wearily trod home, the news comes with them. The Regiment takes it rather well, up to the challenge. It seemed the battle for the Bridge had spiked their morale. With a clearly identifiable threat to their east, the Regiment now has a focus for their survival. Bands of Riflemen backed up by armed citizenry will roam their end of the border. Sticking to their forts, they will make sure no enemy can just cross over their land again. The Bridge is earmarked for a heavy garrison. The other open spot to the east is the Marshes and ridges east of the docks. Here the naturally defensible land is also scattered with fortifications and garrisons. At home matters are much duller. The only point of note is Colonel Joe Morgan sending a scouting party west to forge past the Reservoir. They controlled a lot of water, but it was seemingly stagnant and radiated. With control of the Facility itself though, who knew what the Regiment could do with this bounty. Other then that the ever growing metal yards continue to churn out their yields. This raw material is taken by the Forge masters, and refined into things really good at killing raiders. 7. Morgan’s Rifles Colonel Joe Morgan and his squad cautiously walk along the docks. Though the Regiment had established itself here, the Colonel wanted a feel for the new land. Their main base had been set in the warehouses and storage tanks just off the docks. From what they could find, the Reservoir protected most of their base. However that could mean nothing, or anything. The Regiment knew very little of what was around them. And with all their gear broken or inept, no scouts could be risked in this seemingly dangerous place. Reaching the end of their circuit, is a bridge leading into the unknown. Colonel Morgan looks at it with a bad feeling, and waves his troops home. “Home” was a hodgepodge assortment of scrap huts, tents, and retrofitted rooms. The Rifle Regiment was small in number, but they were of pure Commonwealth blood. Their European heritage and training had led them this far. Joe Morgan and his Platoon leaders were the stuff of legends. They had survived the great crash of their ship. Fighting off scrap scavengers, rad mutants, and even worse. He had led this Regiment across the eastern wast and mountains, to this place. And now they were here to stay. With little options left, the Regiment plants it’s roots. The first glaring issue was a lack of Metals for just about everything. After weeks of groaning, Lieutenant Pierre du Faunte is granted the resources he needs. He begins to select the best troops of the Regiment, to form an actual Fire Squad. As an actual Riflemen corp is formed, the rest of them focus on collecting more Metal for this big undertaking. Elsewhere the Colonel himself leads crews to build forts for the new HQ. Using the Reservoir system to their advantage, they are able to fortify key points to guard any potential crossing into their zone. Volunteers will maintain the forts as scouts, though they lack any sort of weapon.... 8. Application: Faction Name: Morgan’s Rifles Civilization Type: ADVANCED [Former European Commonwealth Culture] Faction Backstory: A contingent of several different European militia, mercenaries, Riflemen, ecplorers, and much more ofthis weird Commonwealth party originated all the way back on Europe. After escorting a Commonwealth merchant vessel went astray, the soilders and citizens found themselves beached on a forgotten continent. With little to do but survive, they soon realized the coast was a death trap. Massive rad-mutants and Eastern nations ruled in full supremacy. And so, they were forced deeper into America, not away from it. Eventually after so many years, they shed their old Unit name, that any Commonwealth solider would call himself. Instead they chose to be Morgan’s Rifles, under their dashing commander Joe Morgan. Eventually these Riflemen had spent years fighting in the rad wastelands, relying more and more on their skill and survival techniques. As they reach Mud-City, they ascend to the Over City itself........ Characters Character 1 (Leader): Joe Morgan; Colonel of the Morgan’s Rifles. Technically leader of Commonwealth Minutemen Chapter. Character 2 (Custom): Anastasia; a Russia lady who over sees the quartermaster role of the Riflemen. Many know very little about her. Character 3 (Custom): Doctor Pierre Du Faunte; Joe’s second in command. A relatively ugly and irritable Frenchmen who generally leads his men from the front while Joe handles the commanding aspect. No one knows why he calls himself a doctor. Character 4 (Custom): Ivan; The explosives expert of the group and quite unironically Russian. Tends to be the trouble maker, and buck against authority from up top Character 5 (Custom): Charles Penny-bottom; Just your average Riflemen, but perhaps with a uncertain fate ahead of him.
  9. Modern Nations; 2020 The year that begins it all is hardly important. The people on earth in 2020 are changing, adapting. The human world is always growing, climbing to new heights. But they’ve all been taking great leaps, gigantic strides. Before the industrial revolution the global population was nothing. Nothing compared, billions upon billions of humans. The world grew smaller as humans rose. Nations are always at one another, striving to be victorious. The twentieth century proved just how deadly war can be. Weapons have grown even further, always becoming more deadly. Who would of thought the atom bomb was just the start? However with all this new power came more fear. Fear of the end of it all. Some are blind to that, some will see their own ways, and some plain don't care. But the good of humans could see war could lead to their destruction. Sadly nowadays however, nations find ways around total destruction. Before being disbanded, the UN had made great strides in nuclear disarmament. But the world has grown too complex, too independent to submit to a higher council. Modern nations are a complex mix, but war was still in the picture. Weapons of mass destruction are set aside, nuclear bombs disarmed or hidden. Such a massive wall blocking them gone, the way opened. Diplomacy, trade, war, politics, they are all sides of the same coin. Though the world was connected, things are breaking down. Perhaps not in any sort of chaos, but in relations. Trade was important, but it was becoming harder to accept other nations agendas. The times of nations like the United States collecting foreign military bases is gone. Nationalism is rising, in some cases not for the better. All across the globe camps are being made, lines drawn. It's not all descending into war and chaos, however. It's the modern age, and more complex then that. To form groups was to survive, to have a feeling of security. It could also lead to far worse conclusions. Some nation states will be flames, to which many are drawn. It is not all about power anymore. Small states can come to prominence if they can follow the world's currents. In fact many larger states are far from ideal. It was becoming hard to administer so many people, govern so much land. It also however presents a large pool of supplies to use. Too paint a picture of the global landscape nation leaders finds themselves in, it all begins in Europe. As a testament to the souring relations across the globe, Europe holds the prize ribbon. At the start of the global decline, the European Union had taken too many steps backward. So many different views and factions, all trying to achieve their goal. Refugees from the Middle East wars, and a decline of currency sealed their fate. Now Europe’s a mess, and divided. Mainland powers like the French and Germans have kept to their own borders. Their economies are collapsing, as trade breaks down across the mainland. Smaller nations are better off, though they find themselves surrounded by potential foes. In the UK the English are better off. Keeping to the pound, and thanks to their brexit they had rode ahead of the economic storm. However it did not mean they were not affected. They find themselves alone on their Island, with a hostile mainland. Their focus is in politics, against internal independence factions and abroad. With Europe in everyone's minds, the Middle East is in a similar yet different state. Syria and Iraq are still a hotbed of action. Terrorist have until now been beaten back, and calmed. A U.S led coalition had destroyed ISIL, a resounding victory. But now there was no global coalition, no peacekeepers. Power was waiting in the heart of the Middle East, for any who would take it. Iran, Saudi Arabia, and others like them are far better off. Oil was still booming, and the magnates were still rich. They have developed, though they still mainly rely on an uncertain [but still rising] oil trade. Now it was a competition amongst the oil giants, a quiet struggle. For now. Contrary to the global climate, Africa has seen a bit more prosperity. Unification movements were strong, particularly in the south. African states were just now developing, tapping into [in some cases] vast reserves. If they could rise to prominence, it would be through becoming modern. Other states are still different. States like Morocco and the Congo, where their military has become much stronger. It is important to note that these states are already undergoing development. It would be nearly impossible for a warlord to grab power. Africa is a filled with diverse and powerful nations. In Asia, nationalism is strongest. However states are keeping to what they have been following. Not many would submit to an Imperial sovereign. It is instead all about trade, and who's with who. China, the sagging giant, still maintains a grip on its borders. Rebellions against their government are at a high. Though the army remains loyal. They could contain it, but at a cost. Other states like Japan and South Korea are more stable. Their economy is on the rise, and political goodwill still hopefully remains. Japan's agreement with the U.S had been ended however. Japan stands on a crossroad. To re-make their constitution, to rebuild the Japanese army. To have an army, or the money? The United States is in a far worse state then China. The elections are coming, and various factions are at each other’s throats. The two party systems have been shattered, after too much inaction. The U.S has an uncertain fate. More importantly now in the west, is the Latin Revival. After some stable states finally developed, they hit an economic boon. Small states like Panama are on a steep rise. Mexico's republic has been fixed, and they began to deal with internal strife. South America is in the same growing state, though it is divided into camps. States like Brazil or Argentina could find themselves blocked by coalitions. The world is changing, will people change with it? I hoped everyone enjoyed a little back-story to paint the picture! I decided to make a modern nation frp because it's been a while. It has been discarded, but I intend to bring it back in Terra. What I hope to do that will make it worthwhile to commit and keep posting is simple. A responsive mod team, to actually commit. Think how much fun it would be if you had a mod to answer you, to even make side events and respond to what you do with events. It has been done before and quite well, but it works both ways. To apply and begin posting is to commit. I will always make sure you have a reason to post, some event or response. Of course any and all who wants to try a hand at making events and responses [a mod if you will] can contact me! Keep note the actual Frp may not launch until I feel enough players and mods have committed. I won't play as any nation, purely a mod/event man. Though there is a slight picture painted, this FRP is by no means locked to the past. Things can be changed, and do not always have to follow history. Do what you want with your nation, and see what happens. I'll keep the OOC short, and can expand it if people have good questions or points. 10. Galaharian League *Lorenzo Barbaro grits his teeth as he looks across the sweeping planes of the Passan Isthmus. He stood upon the strong walls of the Storm Keep, which towered in the horizon. But where this Citadel reached for the skies, the forest nearby loomed squat and ugly. Like a certain Duchess he mused. The Passan Commanders, League Captains, and his personal staff had all agreed. Though their position was sound, they were far too exposed. Giovenco had learnt of the forest long ago, on his adventures in the Passan cities. With more and more missing, he could not ignore the problem any more. And so his orders had been for his son to prepare as he sees fit. Reinforcements will be slower to arrive however.. A weary column of Leagues-Men escort slaves and worker farther south of the Storm Keep. Stiffened with some Heavy Infantry and Lights, a similar column marched parallel to theirs. Though still in League land, it now had an ominous tinge to it. None wanted to be far out of the Storm Keeps reach. But they were doing just that. Black Barbaro and his personal cavalry retinue screened the columns, ensuring eyes were kept on the forest. This would be a tedious year, one of building outpost for troops to better watch and defend the perimeter of their Citadel. - In the Capital the Duke after careful preparation reveals his plans for all to see. The Senate had over the past few years been swayed to the Barbaro cause. House Sforza and the Ravari Guilds though vastly richer, had their power far more dispersed. The Senate was a tool and housed in Batista’s Landing, also the ancestral seat of House Barbaro. Ormanno Sforza was far away, as were all his other influential lieutenants. Meanwhile Giovenco had counted his allies carefully. But in the League and especially with a Barbaro, there was no true violence. Both Houses bought up mercenary bands in the cities, that led to inconsequential skirmishes in the catacombs and alleys of the vast Capital. But soon enough the City Wardens cleaned up the scrum, and the Duke moved in with his personal levies. Ringed by Bankers, Senators, Generals [Including Flavio and his Fey Captors], Admirals, Scribes, and all other sorts march behind him. They pour into the senate building, and fill it’s halls. There the last session of the League’s senate is held. In a Legal takeover, the Duke had won the Senate over, and used their own system to pass the edicts with legal authority. The Senate will here by dissolve, and all former members be ousted from their seats. A new form of government will be forged with the help of people like the Duke, Danwentii Senators, Bankers, Merchants, and land owning citizens. They will follow the inspiration of the parliament system in Ruhn, which had led to that nation’s stability and good morality. A interim government is formed with Giovenco Barbaro at it’s head. He forfeits his Ducal powers, though retaining rights to his Ancestral and political holdings. Sophia Sforza is invited to represent her house. Together they will oversee a campaign for any parties wishing to take part in this new experiment. **In other news further measures are taken to improve the Capital. Batista’s Landing is a sprawling metropolis, with scores of nations having denizens there. However this was leading to a lot of transportation and housing problems. And so Guilds and Bankers will oversee the financial rejuvenation of investment into the city. The first project is transportation fixtures. Walkways, street plans, and even underground sections to quickly transport citizens, and freight. The Capital will ideally start to have a well planned and efficient grid work of public transportation. - Population; 10,278,656 Income; 256.5k Total Mod Actions *Building 2 Keeps/Patrolling South of Storm Keep -20k [Sending 300 Heavy Infantry T3, 400 Leagues-Men T3 as reinforcements] **Capital transportation plans -16.5k [29.5k Invested in Overall Capital Improvement] [!] Offering Blackmarrow and Libraries trade via Trident route. 11. Galaharian League Duke Giovenco Barbaro paced his court room, brooding. Only dark news came out of two forest now. But one seemed far more dire then the other. He himself had spoken to the Passan of the potential darkness to their south. If what his Captains and the Passanese Lord Commanders reported, they trouble had only just begun. But suspicion of a few sentries missing was hardly grounds for radical action. The Duke is also too busy in his Capital, with unfolding events in the League. For now the garrison is put on high alert, the 6,000 or so men [fewer now with all those missing] and the Passan contingent diligently guard the Merchant Road, and Storm Keep. “Black Barbaro” Giovenco’s illegitimate son, is dispatched with some small reinforcements to lead the Storm Keep garrison. In Batista’s Landing, events that have been boiling within the League for a long time had come to a breaking point. Many factions and levels of Government operated in the League. Though the Duke was the head of state, the senate, guilds, and local governors all had power of their own. This was proving a recurring problem for House Barbaro. Lord Jovani of Storm’s Way had proven this, as had the potential threat of House Salvanzo with Leonessa as it’s heir. Though Ormanno was a fast friend, House Sforza was still it’s own dynasty with it’s own goals. They supported the old way, old money, slavery. Giovenco had increasingly been pushing for stability and order within the League. The Guilds and Ivory Bank supported their Duke, a massive boon to his political machinations. Long ago in his youth the Duke had foolishly tried to end Slavery from afar. It had almost sparked a civil war, and was denied. Giovenco would not contest it, it was too firmly entrenched in Galahar’s history. But he had learned from it. Sforza and the conservative faction had used the Senate to overrule the Duke’s commands. But now they were abroad, while Giovenco ruled the Capital. As the year progresses, the Duke uses his considerable reputation and coffers to sway many Leaguesmen over to his side. Lord Salvanzo and his considerable army, fleet, and city of Throatavilla also backed the Duke alongside Ivory, the financial heart of the league. All want peace, an end to the possible wars that never seem to end. One other party is the thousands of wounded and maimed soilders from the dozens of conflicts. Millions of Galaharians lived in peace, while they bled for foreign goals and ideas. And so the votes continue to pile in for this years Senate elections.... As far as the H’Wong could tell, they were they only ones out there..... In more droll news the H’Wong economy continues to churn out the ever growing pools of credits. But with so much expenditure, the growing economy was only just keeping above H’Wong science and military demands. But this delicate balance was policed by the Nation as a whole, every person had their say. For now the main political parties continue to guide voters into their goals. 14. H’Wong Nation Across the world of Temshu, the drumming of boots rings the streets. Vendors open early in anticipation of the crowds, clamoring for good spots. H’Wong on balconies in their tenant buildings eagerly awaited. And eventually the crowds swelled to hundreds, then thousands, and finally millions. The bustling Capital was the bastion of scientific endeavor in [as far as they know] the galaxy. To celebrate this, a parade was being hosted on the streets around the Hive. The Hive itself this year was being renovated with even more research facilities, to expand the frontier of knowledge opening up like a book. Every year progress is made in astounding leaps and bounds. On the ground level, 100,000 H’Wong composing the Citizen Volunteer Corp, and a further 20,000 odd Police and Garrison troops marched in splendid order. In the typical utilitarian Greatcoats buttoned up the side and trousers, these troops were marching to an armory. There they are symbolically handing in their ‘outdated’ Kinetic rifles. They are promised the Nation will instead provide them something far better next year. Most of these troops after being kitted out were soon to be deployed to their local commands. 16. Galaharian League The Duke appraised Throatavilla from his mount as he crested a hill in Bourdeleaux. Vineyards surrounded him and his host, a common scene in the region. And at long last, the Giovenco and his host return to Galahar. He worried about his wife, fearing what became of her in the far east. There were men with the strength of hundreds, and rumors of mist and mindlessness. How could one women survive in such chaos? Regardless, Sforza and his host were on their way to find or. Or so he hoped, rumors of the Eadni war troubled him. But there was no concrete news yet, all he could do was wait. And for now, the sight of Throatavilla greeted him. A fortress and the Reception Palace dominated the horizon, alongside the various merchant quarters. Everywhere troops march, waiting to be shipped off to war. At the sight of Barbaro banners, the city breaks into celebrations. The Duke was horrified to find what he was coming back to. Wracked with guilt, he looked at Galahar. Throatavilla was Galahar’s third most important city, and wealthy to boot. Governor Regatta Salvanzo was the best administrator in the League. And yet ever since the tragedy of Leonessa, House Salvanzo had drifted over to the side of Senate and Sforza. Indeed, as Giovenco’s agents reports filtered in, it seemed almost everyone had. The Duke has spent his entire life abroad, traveling from country to country. But now it was apparent he must assume his mantel of rule. His host was loyal, and the garrisons were busy with the threat of wolves and trees. Before departing for the Capital at the end of the year, he orders preparations be made for a small diplomatic expedition to the Fey to be arranged. - Far to the east Galaharian nobility were still on their expeditions. Arraign Barbaro for over a decade now has been following her personal pursuit of Auderic. Having fought him once, he had gotten the best of her. It has left her grievously maimed, and all the Knights [With Gilbert being the last] dying to his blade. But she had turned the odds, and captured him after others had sought to do the same. But that was all in the past, and a fever dream. The Mindless were in her memory. More immediate concerns call the Duchess back to her duty to House Barbaro. Arraign, the exotic and wonderful Fa Xian, High Priestess Morraine, and Captain Salvanzi sail for the Eadni Capital. They are careful to avoid the regular water routes. Instead using their Nuncio and Magi’s skill to navigate further out to sea. The crack of lightning announces the beginning of Lord Sforza’s plan. Magonels and Ballistae add to the barrage, all pointed at one object. Rows of Infantry and Crossbowmen wait behind their own wall, chewing on wads of Green leaf. A Leage luxury, it didn’t come cheap this far east. With the crackle of the electric shock, the League and Eadni officers sound their trumpets and drums. Climbing over the ladder, they waver their men over the top. As further artillery and arrow barrages scream overhead, the troops scale ladders, and drop onto the bridge to form up. They advance, and can see Antigonid troops scurrying admits the cloud of dust that had been their wall. It was clear the League was launching a major thrust at the Antigonid defenses within the Capital. The handless Charles Fauchexion commanded and urged the men on from the rear, with two temporary hooks for hands. – Population; 9,688,620 Income; 163k [!] The League garrisons the border with the Greenthroat in force this year. 17. H’Wong Nation The promises the Ha’Wun drive offered were unparalleled in recent H’wong science. It’s discovery and subsequent research has yielded a whole new array of potential. Across the Capital scientest are gathered at the Hive in Temshu to add their knowledge. The first ever model will be built right here. And will be installed in a new ship. It will launch an entirely new breed of Star ships that can travel faster than light. In other more domestic news crowds of H’wong have taken to the delicate sport of racing. Be it gasoline or fusion, official race tracks are seeing increased admissions. It would seem the possibility of such unparalleled speed paired with a recent H’Wong action racing movie has led to quite the stir! In other news the H’Wong navy is taking their next serious step forward in operation. In the chaos of the economic collapse, someone had managed to order two Frigates built. Two years later, and the H’wong finally could stop wincing at the price. This paired with the potential Ha’Wun Drive, Deflectors, and soon to be far more upgrades. The Admiralty can be seen moving back and forth, the Brass having constant back door meetings. It would seem with economic stability, came back the ever present realization of how much needed to get done... The average H’Wong citizen isn’t much focused on where their fleet was pioneering, or what colony had been planted where. They lived simple but luxurious lives in their multiple communities. In the Capital, the citizens, scientist, goverment officials, and troops all mingled in democratic harmony. It was the gem of their Nation, and where all the voting and government process is held. Further out lay the numerous H’wong colonies and mercantile worlds. There the credit of the Nation is three times more then anywhere else. But just as important was the colony pumping out industry for the Nation. Here however conditions were abysmal, and many wanted better mining equipment or robots. 18. Galaharian League [!] Admiral Ormanno Sforza appraises the Republican troops as they pour out of the city. Here in Tzaria, things seemed rather isolated. The people believed in the Republic, even though loss after loss filters in. The Duke had dispatched Sforza east at the start of the year, and he had decided to port here for supply. Using the Bank in the capital, he spends a goodly sum of gold on Danwentti guides, supplies, and doctors. The Galaharian host and fleet accompanying him were getting their last day or two of peace and bliss in. This new campaign had a very uncertain ending in sight. Duke Giovenco has dispatched his Admiral to go find and if needed rescue his wife. They feared the Duchess was lost in the sea of very troubling rumors pouring our of Ulyadi. They have received no concrete news on the matter. As soon as they are ready, the fleet begins it’s voyage east. Their next stop, the Eadni capital for a brief supply restock, and to honor a contract with an old friend. *At home the lady Regent Sophia Sforza rules the Galahar in tandem with the Senate. Their main concern has to start paying off the rampant bills their leaders spending have accumulated. The League was more and more in a constant state of small scale campaigns across the known world to them. However closer to home spending is focused on a new garrison system for the entire League. Starting in Throatavilla, a grand road will eventually reach all the way to the capital. It will protect the land trade route, and Galahar’s border with the ever dangerous forest. A system of Keeps has already been built over the last few years, and stocked with a roster of troops for Garrison. Now roads will start to connect them to better move troops and merchants. – Duke Giovenco after a series of frustrating skirmishes is forced to pull out of his civil war. His men were tired, the slaves malnourished, and the horses lathered. They had already served a hard march and campaign in Numeria. Shovia was supposed to be a brief stop, then onwards through Bourdeleuax to home. With the burning of the bridge near Moreva, the Duke is forced to concede to his captains. The demoralized host heads back to Shovia to rest and resupply. And then, the long march home.. In the marvelous city of Throatavilla, things as always are in constant motion. Governor Regatta Salvanzo [bless his weary heart] has been busy helping Princess Sophia rule the League, as well as manage his border with two other Great powers. As always though the Fey and Bourdelaic allies are always welcome in the city. Tens of thousands of their population lived and intermingled with the League here. The city is even busier this year, as construction can be seen of a mighty fort, being raised north of the Reception Palace. Elsewhere columns of troops march around, preparing for one or the other of the League's numerous wars. Shipments of Bourdelaic Black Iron armor arrive this year, a generous donation to the League. 19. H’Wong Nation After quite a tumultuous time, the H’Wong Nation has finally stabilized it’s flagrantly mismanaged economy. The military spending had been curtailed, and the funneling of valuable Credits into other non needed projects slashed. The Nation though technologically powerful, was feeling the hurt of not enough funds. And so the state of austerity continues. However it is no longer a mad dash to bail the economy out. They are now on the path to recovery, and even expansion of their previous highest point achieved... In other news the need for a faster way of space travel is ever present. A new colony ship being built this year will hopefully mark the last of these basic drives. It’ll take years before the new colony is established. But with this newly proposed FTL drive, sector to sector travel will be much easier. This will also give the added boon of helping the Nations fleet in their space exploration. 20. Imperial Province of Egypt Liudolf Merovech pondered the past as usual on his cushioned throne. Though he had not left the Capital in years, his power spread far wider. It was unfortunate recent events had disrupted his and Dagobert’s plans. The fearsome general was fuming at the missed chance of glory in Athens. But illusion was vital to their plans. The General and his host remain in their desert camp. Though not ready to invade, they could at least surprise any potential Libyan invaders. But in far more interesting events, Egypt is forced into an Athenian intervention. The Macedonian Kingdom had wantonly invaded the smaller state of Athens. Alongside a subtle subjugation and manipulation of Epirus. Wielding so much power, and in such a fast manner, was unsettling to Lord Merovech. In a daring response, he gives permission for an expeditionary Legion. As the Legion marches to war, diplomats follow. Egypt sends five thousand Imperial coins, and an offer to full military alliance. In the name of war against Macedon. Life in the Province remains normal and prosperous. The Nile’s bounty is vast in it’s wealth. Egyptian cities flourish on the trade route. Peasants and nobles alike farm their land, or are strapping on their swords for war. More and more Imperials are called forth to the Legion. With ever present threats, and an overseas war, the military drive was high. 21. Galaharian League Though on the surface the League lived on, below the waters matters were different. Across the eastern half of the world Galaharians and their allies roam. Some on righteous quest like the Duke Giovenco Barbaro. Numeria had left a sick taste in his mouth. Though he would support his ally and the Black Army, it felt wrong to him. But now he raced through Danwent, on his way to a new war. This one filled his chest with pride, and joy. He sought to keep together the world’s brightest Republic. Sfora fought alongside the Duke but for nothing so brilliant as political regards for democracy. He was more pragmatic, alongside his officer cadre and veterans. They simply sought to keep their ally alive, and their rival pushed out. Heading further east, other heroes of the League continued their glorious deeds. The Duchess, Arraign Barbaro, has survived the confused chaos of Auderic’s vile actions. Though she had failed, she was alive. With time yet to continue her personal war, she sadly drops her last hopes of heading home. Matters were growing complex, and the Orcas hungry. The only survivor of an entire navy and army, the biggest seen in the Word since perhaps before the Ruination. They didn’t even get to fight. One instant they watched in the mist, the next, confusion. The Nuncio and it’s crew share the horror of the events. But not a word is shared to world, nor could it be. The ship does not make port in Ulyadar. Instead it sails further south from its position near the mind cage. South, to a last hope. At home General Flavio Cattamori Svore emerges from the Greenthroat victorious. Him and his tattered army had spent almost a decade or more in a protracted war. But they had sent home tens of thousands of slaves, and won great victories. Most of the troops are kept in the Capital to rest and celebrate their massive effort. The Fey are personally congratulated by the League’s senate and Rulers. Flavio however finds himself promoted yet again by Lady Regent Sophia Sforza. While the Barbaros and Sforza officially can levy any troops they need for their adventures, General Flavio will be promoted to the Storm Warden. Officially the top rank in the army, he will lead the main Galaharian army in official wars. This was troubling, as Galahar has almost never declared war. And he finds himself packed off to Throatavilla, where a League host is still rallying. 22. Imperial Province of Egypt Storming out of the palace halls of Alexandria, Dagobert Thurginson was quite the sight. A massive brute with supposed Swedish king blood from the long distance past. It certainly showed with his bushy orange hair, and muscle. He was encased in segmented plate in eastern fashion. A Long-axe was strapped to his back, and a eastern dagger on his hip. It seemed he was quite mad, as he stomped down the stairs. Tiered rows of Veteran Legionnaires [Of the 1st ‘Nile’ legion] awaited him. His personal retinue, and officers in times of war. Barking out an order, they wheel in perfect order, and march out of the palace. General Dagobert had just been exiled from Alexandria, and ordered to march his army somewhere that’s not here. The man who ordered his exile, was hardly a impressive sight. Not anymore, with his wife dead. Once he was a Crown Prince, one that could of perhaps inherited the Empire itself. Who knows what would of happened. Five decades ago, yet it still brought a pain to his heart. Liudolf Merovech, a forgotten member of the Imperial Family. Cousin to the old Emperor, and now Governor of the rich Egyptian province. Long ago he had been far more healthy, and renown in battle. His cousin and then Emperor had sent him and his Legion to assist the Egyptian province. Back then Persia seemed hardly like a threat to the entire Empire. But their rapid advance through the Imperial East startled everyone. Despite his best efforts, Liudolf was but one Legion amongst many. Eventually so many of the higher ups died, command was thrust in his hands. As a distant Imperial member, he took the role with great vigor. Though they still suffered defeat after defeat, Liudolf kept the army together, and fighting. Finally Perisa pulled out, after negotiating with Merovech. But this was just the start of his troubles.. With the Empire in such chaos, Egypt was forgotten, alongside Lord Merovech. His Legion was all but wiped out, and replaced with local franks and greeks. The battered Imperial army was spread out, and incapable of doing anything but holding. And then the revolt crisis led to complete chaos. Four decades ago the Libyan Christians and Jewish in Judea denounced the Empire. Egypt had been kept far more stable under Liudolf’s grip, and remained loyal. At first Lord Merovech tried to rescue the scattered garrisons cut off in both lands. This led to multiple battles, and yet more died. And it was vain, as like candles in the dark, the garrisons flickered out one by one. And for forty long years Lord Merovech has held Egypt together through his iron will, council, generals, and wife. The Empire had abandoned him, but he has not abandoned it. Remaining loyal, Egypt is a shining beacon of light. It’s trade and grain make it rich, and their army is on the rise to great heights. 23. Nation applying for: Egypt BREIF History of your Nation: Centuries ago proud armies of the Empire have descended on a realm in the far corner of the known world. ‘Egypt’ was under the Ptolemaic dynasty, and had a proud Greco-Macedon heritage. That all changed as the Empire descended on them in droves. Over a few decades the war raged. Egypt was powerful, but terribly mismanaged. The Empire was in their peak power. Eventually, they won by way of pure numbers. But now the Empire grows weak, and Egypt is cut off from it’s Rulers. Emilio Fauchex now rules as a reluctant Governor turned some form of King. Though he would not dare proclaim an actual Kingdom, that’s essentially what Egypt has become. Cut off from home, left to its own devices. Governor Fauchex was a former Parisian born solider for the Empire. He was one of the last Regiments to arrive in Egypt, barely sixteen. But throughout the turmoil of the Libyan and Jewish successions, he had earned serious acclaim as a commander of Heavy Infantry. Now almost seventy, he finds himself alone. Leader(s): Governor Emilio Fauchex [Iberian mother, French father, born in Paris.] Heinrich Von Steuben [German born Imperial General] Maximillian ‘Storm’ [Egypt’s top ‘Quartermaster’] [More to come in Rp!] Egypt
