Apologies, I go to Ireland often and my cousins always call it Gaelic rather than Irish. Are they two different languages, or are they the same thing under two names?
I'm actually interested in learning this so I don't make an idiot of myself again. :P

Irish Gaelic is pronounced ga-y-lick. The Scottish Gaelic is pronounced Ga-ah-lick.
