    Would be cool if leather and chain had a little bit of speed drawback, because then people wearing no armor are still useful in battle. The same with leather, if chain has no speed reduce, leather is useless to use in pvp.

      Yeah, but iron isn't that hard to get after a few hours of mining. There would just be no need for leather if chain mail wearers have the same speed as leather wearers and more protection.

      Yes they do Bael. They reinforce the armor heavily. They make it more secure in general.

      I still think leather armor has value. Easier to mass supply, easier to obtain. While bigger armies can easily get a full army of chain and iron, smaller armies benefit from leather while also not overpowering them. Chain isn't heavy.
