The Aegean Academy Learn the way of Aegis by professors and teachers on the Academy campus *You pass by the bulletin board and read the biggest poster* The Aegean Academy is a project that involves learning the ways of Aegis. You can find professors and teachers on all kinds of subjects, ranging from archaeology to botany and from blacksmithing to cooking. The academy is soon becoming finished. The city is located in the city of Aeriel, and a map with direction can be found further down. If you are interested in being either a student or part of the staff, as a professor for example, see the bulletin board just right of this one. When you finish a course or a subject you will get some sort of recognition. As we speak, what this will be is currently unknown, but it will be something like a digital diploma maybe. This part of the project still has great room to be evolved and extended. Current curricula Basic course one how to live and thrive in Aegis - by Zyn 1. Criminal Law: A course that will discuss in details the laws of Aegis, such as anti-griefing, Villainous acts and restrictions, RPing a kill, Metagaming, etc. - Purpose: Keep players from staying off the ban list 3 days after they get accepted to the server. - Teaching Reqs: None, just someone with a clean record. 2. Mate, this is not a business, it is education. This is not for personal profit. So how should they "run us out of busniess"? This greatly proves that you got this whole thing totally wrong.
-
I'm just saying, you are making too hasty deals. I don't think we should be "owned" by Tac & Co, for example. Also, I do not think you have a big enough plot for us. Seriously, we need a BIG plot if the support we have will keep up. How big is that plot?
-
Wolfie, I see that you did not make any new, good updated first post, so I take that in my hands and do that. I honestly believe you talk too much without any real action, so that's why I do it. This idea has too great potential to be thrown away and if I am given or seen by the students/supporters as a "leader/headmaster", then I so be it. I will not stop to take over, rather to see this idea to go away because the headmaster is disorganized.
-
Welcome back! I hope you had a good time, running with weapon in hand ;) Lovely to hear about the server development as well. That is something I dearly hoped for to hear about soon.
-
Not too be rude or anything, but which city is your city? *smiles* How many sqaure blocks can you provide?
-
I think you should leave this server if you don't get that this is ALL about Roleplay... 'nuff said.
-
I am aware that it is not finished, but it shouldn't be finished in Sunspear, since it will look ugly with that sort of architecture, and we couldn't take in all our students thoughts and wants when placing the academy :P
-
Mate, why are you going and making hasty decisions? An academy in Sunspear (yes it is not Kramoroe, it is Sunspear nowadays) is not a good location. We should have the academy in Alras or Ravenhold, as we discussed yesterday. A Sunspear academy will look UGLY! And how big is this place? If it is within the town, it will be way too small for what we need...
-
Remember that this area will have to be quite big. I want everything VonEbs listed, at the least. I wonder if Alras will want to accommodate us with that space. I know that if we put it forward in the right way, we will get a place in Ravenhold, which I think would be a great place as well.
-
Yes, that is most likely the case. Will be very interesting how this turns out. I think we are in an era of knowledge right now, rather than war and battles. I think we should name this time in the History of Aegis. We see libraries coming up and flourishing, an academy being built, archaeology and lore is getting more attention. Most interesting I must say.
-
NOT Kramoroe/Sunspear. It will be the ugliest architecture and smallest space for an academy. I know a couple of strings I can pull to maybe get another investor, and we can buy a bigger plot in the wilds, maybe not too far from King's Road...
-
Wait now. Who is our investor? And Kramoroe/Sunspear is not a very good place to do this at. It's very cramped and wouldn't look too good. If we made a plea to the Wandering Wizard or Officials in Oren, we could rent a big plot not too far from King's Road. Sunspear architecture is not cute at all and would not fit an academy, imho. I want cobble for this/stone!
-
Talking about architecture: Here is a start to my contribution to something that could be our academy. I think, it shouldn't be much bigger. It would feel good if it is small and cramped, instead of having lots of empty space. To the right there will be some sort of tower, so it will not be totally symmetrical, though as you can see, I love symmetry. I never roleplayed as an architect, but I know I am a good one, though see for yourself ;) I believe that the middle row house will have teacher offices, and left and right hand rows will be classrooms. The tower I'm talking about will be part of lore/history class tower where astronomy is part of the teachings. There should also be some basements, where people maybe can study stuff like undead teachings (obviously not supporting teachings). This is obviously created in 1.8 creative mode, which I totally love. They have done some misses in it, like not having water blocks and water buckets goes empty on use. Kinda made me dumbstrucked thinking "What the heck?". But yes, I love the new stone brick block, which adds alot of texture to buildings. I would love to use brick, but as I know we wont get any brick in-game, I stayed away from it. What do you think should be added to this? What should be changed? Obviously WIP and I am not saying "we are going to use this". I just wanted to try out creative mode and thought I could do something that could be an academy for us.

I think this whole idea could be great if we make it organized and well thought out. Right now I feel everyone says: lets do this, lets do that. I believe we need a good first post, either Wolfie fix it, or I can take care of it.
-
Nowhere yet. Only plans right now.
-
Diplomacy should definitely be within the academy, since there are so many of them.
-
I can be somewhat of a co-headmaster. I don't have much in-game time right now, but I do lurk the forums all day. If you wish, I could take care of the forum post to keep it organized with all info we have. With that said, I also sign up as history/archaeology teacher. This will work for me, once the academy is built in-game.
-
I'd say that would fall into Archaeology, but of course, that should definitely be a class.

Minecraft 1.8 Information
Tegrof replied to Deleted User 009's topic in News & Announcements Archive
Indeed. I am not one of those really, but it would be a shame for all those who played the longest on the server. Only stuff that maybe should not be moved is cities. I'd say bring the grandest buildings from cities over, and fit them in on the new world. Again, I think we should really make a big upgrade of the lore. I think we should appoint a team to do this, and seeing I'm already on it somehow, being archaeologist, I could volonteer to start the work. -
RE: "World Reset" w/ Vaquxine
Tegrof replied to Deleted User 009's topic in News & Announcements Archive
I seriously hope that this will take less than a month. I think we need a fresh and bigger Aegis, that is rid of all those random abandoned buildings. We really need the bigger space to enhance travel and exploration... -
Minecraft 1.8 Information

Indeed. Those who played months on a character can't lose it all. But I would say that those who want to should be able to get a "free" register and lose everything and simply start over... -
Oren Guard is not as it seems...
Tegrof replied to 。◕‿‿◕。 Hawk Whitestorm's topic in Aegis Roleplay Archive
Oh please get rid of that signature. It is waaaay too big and takes more place than all the text :s On topic, I think the guards are not at fault here. It is the organization above that has to be fixed. No matter how much a guard captain says that everything is fine and dandy, this topic comes up more often than I hear about undead attacks, which must mean that it carries a seed of truth. As Oren is the barricade against the undead, I think the leaders of Oren really have to reorganize the Oren Guard. Maybe take away the current Captains and take in new fresh people to organize it.Sometimes you have to take away the chiefs of an department, to make it good, not the "low workers", and that is what has to be done here I think, when this issue has been so long... -
I would say it is a wise decision. A plain thief guild does not work. But being a highwayman would work splendidly, seeing how few there are right now and how many travelers you can find on the roads. If I wasn't an archaeologist right now, I would probably try being a villain. It is sad how permissions does prevent you to be a full fledged villain though...

Very good work. I will see if I can get in touch with some contacts and see if I can get some more of the issues of The Aegis Times.
