  2. ((While this app is for a specific milita role, if you feel I'd better fit any other role, feel free to toss me in there.)) RP name: Ferlian Graw MC name: Distuth Why do you want to be on the attacking side? Frankly, I'm tired of the war conflicts been going on this server lately. Most of the attacks I've seen occur consist of three lines of roleplay, and then everyone goes and beats on each other until one side stops moving. Then about half the combatants (generally those on the losing side) form up to post a massive ban report on whoever they felt applied improper beatings. I figure it'd be nice to be part of something that sounds likely to have more roleplay then PVP. What RP would you bring to this war claim (I'm not looking for PVP skills... I'm looking for RP.) I'd actually planned on using a character that isn't the strong soldierly type. He's capable of fighting, but his overall skills leave something to be desired. His job is more in the realm of blood gathering. As it happens, blood is kind of tricky to get out of the human body, at least in quantity. Sure, they'll gush blood for awhile, but once the heart stops beating, the rest of it just kind of sits in the corpse. And getting it out of the corpse after that is just an exercise in frustration. So, to maximise the amount of blood, its generally best to have a skilled specialist do the "butchering" in question. I figured that'd be a nice touch to Blood Mage roleplay for this event. You know, a practical side to the magic. Do you agree that your character is a one off and can't be used after the battle? Of course. I'm not expecting to be welcomed into the order for this. Do you agree to provide good role play to all who take part on the opposite side? How are you going to do such? Yes, and by actually developing the character into a realistic personality.. What Ferlian does is a very messy business, seeing as people have to be alive. Keep in mind, Ferlian wouldn't be the guy on the frontlines, going in and dragging people out into the street. His job requires him to be around his equipment. And, if the blood mages have developed to the point where they have equipment like that designed, and people to work it, odds are, Ferlian's been doing this for awhile now. To him, its going to be just another day. I figure his workman attitude towards the whole event will add a subtle sort of horror to the whole thing. Do you agree that if you commit an act that is outside of the rules in any way whatsoever that we are not liable for you? (Though in wars certain actions are relaxed, but you are still governed by OOC rules and a few RP rules) Agreed. I'll be abiding by the comfort levels of anyone around. Ferlians work is likely to be rather gruesome, but if it bothers someone, it can easily be toned done. Other then that, I'm not sure what major rules I can break while maintaining character. And I won't be breaking character for any reason on this. Its...kind of a personal sticking point. Do you agree to follow orders and not go off to do your own thing (which wouldn't make much RP sense) Well of course I do. Ferlian isn't going to leave his equipment behind where some absentminded idiot can damage it. And if the time comes when he needs to fight...well, he doesn't exactly have the option of running away. I get the feeling the blood mages don't take too kindly to deserters. Or, for that matter, anyone who questions their orders in the slightest.

  4. "I..." Distuth paused, clearly frustrated. He glanced down at Eryndir, then shook his head violently. "No. No! this isn't...Bah. Eryndir. Find one of the guardsmen. Its...Their decision to make, not mine. I will ensure the dark elf does not...well. Doesn't leave, I suppose." He glared down at the dark elf, his knife arm shaking as he spoke. "You are right. And yet wrong. I am not a high elf. I do not reside within this city. My actions are my own. And Haelun'ors reputation will remain untarnished, in...all likelihood. But...Its their decision. Not mine."
  5. "You're being foolish, both of you." Distuth said, raising his voice so it Eryndir could hear it from the street. "You're going to let a potential spy sit around and scout out every defense the city has? To let her learn how the high elves guard their city? Does that seem wise to you? She's going to come back with an army. Perhaps even an orcish one. For all we know, that army is on its way here now. We can't let here stay here. It just doesn't make sense!" Distuth jumped to his feet, unsheathing a long iron knife. His stance, however, was more that of a boxer then any swordsman. The knife itself was poorly gripped. It was obvious that he could use the knife. It was equally obvious he couldn't use it well. "I'm not a citizen of Haelun'or. If blame falls on someone, it'd fall on me. The crazed paranoid wood elf. The high elves wouldn't be held responsible for the actions of a lunatic."
  6. "Thats a lie." Distuth said, shuffling forward in his crouched stance until he was blocking the sunlight. Harder for the dark elf to aim, if it came to that. "You aren't exactly in the best of positions, you realize. Wouldn't it be better to simply tell me what I want to know, rather then put yourself at risk?" ((Gah. Writers block.))
  7. Distuth didn't turn to address the high elf. If the Dark elf attacked, he wanted to be ready. "I just explained it. If you gain a reputation for killing outsiders, then sooner or later, you'll have an army at your doorstep before long. And I don't think either of us wants to see Haelun'or destroyed."
  8. "To be quite honest, I don't. My actions weren't to safeguard you." Distuth said, dropping all pretense of friendly nature. "Haelun'or is not well regarded in Asulon. The last thing they need is a reputation for murdering those who sit outside their city. My actions were for the sake of the High Elves, nothing more. But now, you've returned. Not the action of a rational being. Unless that being has a job to fulfill." Distuth crouched down, watching the dark elf's collarbone. Any aggressive movement would start there. "So then. Who exactly sent you here?"
  9. Distuth frowned. Not exactly what he'd expect a spy to say. This one was either very bad in their field of work, or very good. "Is that because no one there has tried to murder you? That isn't exactly a healthy attitude to cultivate." He said, his frown appearing on his face once more. "And what about Alras? I've heard its lovely there. And you're rather less likely to be executed." Distuth glanced back towards the rest of the city. No real attention had been directed at this rooftop yet, but it was only a matter of time. Spy or not, the dark elf didn't deserve a sword through the gut. Well. Probably not. He knew little about the elf. Maybe they did. But more to the point, Distuth didn't want to spend another night in the badly locked jail cell the high elves used. The last occasion had likely created a rather fierce enemy.
  10. Distuth eyed the dark elf, a frown starting to crease his face despite his best efforts. This was not rational behavior. It didn't fit. No reasonable person would deliberately put their life at risk for a simple bask in the sun. So, that couldn't be the real reason. The dark elf was hiding something. It was the only thing that made sense. And the fact that the elf just happened to roost at Haelun'or suggested her true purpose. Spying. And if Spies were being set on Haelun'or...It wasn't too much of a stretch to assume they'd develop at Ceru too. Distuth's brow burrowed deep between his eyes as he thought. After a moment, he realized, with a start, that he was still being watched. He quickly reapplied the false smile. A little information would do good. He'd just have to ask carefully. "So," He said, keeping his voice bright and perhaps just slightly too cheerful "What brings you to Haelun'or, rather then another city? Haelun'or is grand in its way, but other cities can match it. What makes Haelun'or special?"

  12. "You'd think you'd have learned from the first time." Distuth said, leaping to catch the edge of the rooftop. With a grunt, the wood elf pulled himself up onto the roof, his platemail loudly clanking against the colored stone. He immediately rolled to the side, one arm lashing out to block the expected blow. Oddly enough, it never came. Distuth blinked, and looked at the dark elf, who hadn't moved during the entire event. Probably not an assassin, then. Any assassin would have taken his apparent moment of vulnerability while climbing the roof. Unless...Unless the dark elf knew how Distuth used armor. If they'd been spying on him previously, they may have noticed his methods of deflection with it. They might just be waiting for him to turn his back. They were going to be disappointed. Distuth never turned his back on a possible threat. "So." Distuth said, forcing the suspicion from his voice. "Why are you here again? They nearly killed you the last time." Distuth's face was set into a welcoming smile, made simple enough by the centuries of practice. It'd take a rather attentive individual to notice the forced edges of it. He knew. He'd practiced to make sure of it.
  13. *The next response is very tightly packed together, as if the author is trying to use as little space on the paper as possible. Judging from the clear amount of open space beneath the response, this may be more from habit then necessity* Kolyat's actions are his own. While he is a part of Ceru, it should be strongly noted that he does not represent us in any official capacity. Nevertheless, I will be available to discuss any issues regarding the alliance and any stains thereof. -Distuth Thruill

  15. Huh. So it wasn't an assassin after all. Unless...the poison is inside the letter itself. Distuth carefully placed the letter in his pocket. Probable assassin or not, the letter had to be read. But how? Steaming it was no guarantee of readability, and the poison that was likely in the envelope may well react to the heat. Thick gloves would do nothing to protect him if the poison was airborne. But the letter couldn't contain very much poison, even if the entire envelope was filled with it. The hidden workroom might do the trick. With the problem solved, Distuth walked back into Ceru's gates. ... Distuth carefully affixed each end of the letter to a clamp. And Bofric thought these clamps were a waste of time. Distuth thought, restraining a chuckle. A hidden room did no good at all if you started cackling like an idiot, after all. With the letter firmly in the clamps grip, Distuth headed to his workbench, and picked up a pair of thick leather gloves. Once he had the gloves on, Distuth picked up his crude contraption. While technically a spear, it could be more accurately called a sword tied to a long stick. Reaching a reasonably safe distance, Distuth slammed his sword-spear into the letter, ripping it in half. Odd. No plumes of dust, he thought, eyeing the two halves of the envelope. must be a contact poison, then. If a contact poison was all it was, he was safe enough here. Distuth crossed the room and picked up the letter, aligning the two halves as best he could. It didn't take all that long to read the little note. He tossed the letter into a small pouch, and sealed it in place. Suspicious. On one hand, if it was an assassination attempt, was a poorly thought out one. The letter wasn't nearly long enough for him to be at any real risk from touching it, even with his bare hands. And yet, Larien would have told him of a wedding. Probably. Well. Perhaps. She'd never been much for words. Quiet. Distuth left his workroom, carefully sealing the door behind him. He'd ask her in person.
  16. For some reason, I can't post images in the off topic section. Anyone else having that problem? Or is it a "you haven't posted enough" kind of thing?
  17. Went to a D&D game. Turns out I'm an evil bastard. We started beating up a drunk man for giggles.

  18. 1 by 1s to the top of the map! ...Then I can roleplay as a birdie. It'll be amazing. In all seriousness, this is pretty great. My citys on a mountain, and this'll let us build on top of that mountain. 200 is more then enough room for that. The only real reason I could see for going above 200 on this map is a floating fortress. And that seems somewhat silly on this server.
  19. Lookie! Its a City Charter! Minas would be appreciated. ~Done : Robin Drake
  20. ...This kind of spam seems more likely to piss off minebook then to make them support us. I mean, we're literally going over there and drowning the entire site in LoTC propaganda. Is this really such a good idea? I mean...we hate spam here, but we're going elsewhere and producing metric **** tons of it. Anyone else conflicted about this?
  21. 8/10 Its like a stuffed animal that you can't snuggle on without having to register as a sex offender. But, still, adorable.
  22. Did you uh...not read the exceptions part? Edit: Ayup. You've still got a chance. Just means the app needs to blow their socks off. And maybe other articles of clothing too, if you're feeling frisky.
  23. I don't think apps are up yet. It might be part of the application to make your own app.
  24. Well...Thats not entirely true, but at least I'll treat you folks to dinner first. Anyway. Application. Few more questions before I get started on it. 1. Do our hours have to sync up with the online times of other people? Like, for example, if I'm swamped with other work, and can't get online until, say...midnight, central time. If I'm able to get on after that, is it possible to still use that time? 2. Who are we working with in terms of lore? I realize there isn't any way to be sure of who exactly is getting the Lore team spots, but who are we "reporting" to in terms of lore? 3. What constraints are we working with? Are we limited to Lore on the wiki pages, or will we also be creating lore in game? 4. How do average players factor into this? Lore can't really exist in a vacuum. All the pretty backstories in the world doesn't do much if we don't get the playerbase involved. 5. Are we allowed to "specialize" to any real extent? By specialize, I mean, to write more exclusively for one area, say, lore on the ruins of the land, or language, or even a specific race? If so, how far does that go? Are people allowed to write exclusively on one area, or will it be more in the realm of side projects? 6. Does this Loremaster role affect our characters, or is it a purely OOC phenomenon? 7. How many people are likely to be on this team? To what extent are we going to be collaborating? In other words, are we doing this lorewriting in groups, or going lone wolf style and just hoping all the lore matches up somehow?
  25. Heh, Damn. I'm one month short. Otherwise l'd already be pestering Vaquxine. Hmmmm. Quick question, for the benefit of anyone who does qualify for this. What type of writing style is being looked for in this? Simple Narration of events? Historical document style? First person viewpoint, with a heavy character basis? Third person omniscient or limited? Something else? Or all of the above?
