  3. I'm in for it. EDIT: Oops. All my names are Distuth (Including MC username), except for my skype, which is dissonant.harmonics
  4. Personally, I'm more in favor of a more GM/Event Team involvement. I'll admit I might be slightly biased in that regard. However, I'm a little confused as to why the two need be separate in the first place. There is absolutely nothing stopping a player from creating their own events, without the event teams help. I'm not sure why the question is phrased as if the choice is between players creating events and GMs/Event Team creating events. It seems to me that a better question is "What do you expect from events? How would you prefer events to happen?"
  5. No. Just...No. This is what happened with towns in Asulon. All they had to do is get some schmuck to write up a charter and some other schmucks to sign it and they had a whole town all to themselves. Problem was, most of these guys didn't know how to run it. By the time the map file went down, most of those were abandoned, or so sparsely populated they might as well have not bothered. This is a BAD idea.
  6. ....Yeah, you know what, sleeping is overrated.
  7. Seems alright so far. I'm not so sure about the tick part though. There's going to be issues with that. It'll cause a lot of death just because there aren't that many caves out there that they can find safety in. I don't know if its possible, but could we set up a "windchill" sort of thing, making the ticks only start if you've been in the region too long? That way, when they find a fire, they can go back out? That would let us control what areas are open to them, as all we need to do is create more fires or caves. Oh. I've also got something of a guide up. I'll show it to you next time I get a chance.
  8. I'm happy to work on whatever needs doing. I'm not so great with building things like drake skulls, but I'm quite good at terraforming, and generally making things natural. I'm very good with ice, in particular.
  9. Can't figure out how to change my forum title. Sadness download complete.

I'd just like it to say "Paradox". Except. Without...you know, the quotation marks.

  10. We aren't giving up on the Event though. Its just...delayed.
  11. This already exists. http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/42676-the-asulon-tournament/
  12. I believe the proper phrase for this situation is huzzah. I'm glad my app was accepted. I'm looking forward to working with you guys. Heres to (hopefully) not strangling each other during the inevitable arguments!
  13. Uh....one problem. Weren't slimes removed? So how is the playerbase going to get slimeballs in the long run?
  14. True enough. I just did a bit of a comparison between the two...And then went through about 3 years of forum roleplay where everyone and their mother (who, no matter the setting, somehow had a Japanese name) was using a katana to slice through full platemail like butter. So I might have been slightly antagonistic towards that weapon. I'm glad to know theres at least a basis for their use other then "OMG I'm a ninja guys!" (Most of the people using katanas called themselves ninjas. It only added to the hate.)
  15. I was talking more weapons like a "beaked" (Is that the term? for a hammer with one end pointed?) warhammer. ...Theres a video around somewhere about it. Used some sort of gel thing to represent flesh under the armor. The armor had a massive dent in by the end, and the gel...well...no one was getting up after the state it was in.
  16. Well I'll be damned. The research I did was on the heavier plate. What I read was that the katanas of the time they were most heavily in use were designed to cut through wooden armor and flesh, but didn't do as well as heavier weapons when it came to full plate. I just assumed it was similar for all metallic armor. My mistake.
  17. Actually, thats incorrect. Japanese armor mostly consisted of wood, rather then metal. Katana's can't do anything at all to metallic armor. You'd be better off using a shovel against armor then a katana. At least the shovel can be used like a makeshift mace. All a katana can do is look cool then break if you hit your opponents armor too hard.
  18. That seems a little excessive. I mean...even well built stone tools are pretty simplistic. Its odd to me that those would be so complex to master that only a master blacksmith could create them.
  19. I have to admit. I'm a little concerned for the new players. I mean...they don't have access to the same resource stockpiles many of the older players do. And with even level 100 players messing up tools fairly routinely...normal players are going to have a great deal of trouble.
  20. We're at rank 69 people. Keep voting until its past that mark. I'm an immature idiot and can't stop giggling. ...Please help me. I need to sleep. Vote.
  21. Vote completed. Face knocking still in progress.
  22. One thing that doesn't appear to have been considered with this whole idea. I've noticed that most of the ideas involve condensing everyone into a handful of cities. This is great for Roleplay, but it does have one big problem. Resources. With permissions as they currently are, resources like redstone, diamonds, gold, etc, etc is going to be a little harder to come by. VIPs will fill part of that need in the wilds, but without at least some method of renewing things, there is going to come a time when resources run low enough that the playerbase starts to notice and demand action. And if when that happens, there isn't a plan in place, someone is going to go off half cocked and do something stupid like opening the wilds down to bedrock (Presumably on purpose this time). So. Whats going to be done about resources? Regeneration was tried before, and didn't go so well.
  23. Heres the problem. Slowness is still a major issue. This doesn't really fix any issues. It just makes them take slightly longer to resolve. Looking things over, I'd have to agree with CrackerJack, for the most part. I don't think people in iron or diamond should be able to really sprint. If they do sprint, it should be half speed, at least. But having an accelerated hunger bar would help a great deal. Sure people can eat in combat to deal with it, but while they're eating, they aren't really moving, or swinging a weapon. Eating in combat is a good way to get killed. This combined with your armor concept might do the trick. And maybe immobilizing archers for a little bit after they fire. Three seconds or so. They can still shoot while immobilized, but they can't move until 3 seconds after their last shot. This makes kiting very difficult to manage, even when the other guy isn't able to sprint around.
  24. ((I get the feeling part of the problem is that "Dread Knight" sounds a lot cooler then "Militia". Militia brings to mind images of a bunch of civilians who stumbled across a supply of guns and decided to play war hero. Dread Knight...well, just look at the name. Surely it isn't possible that something with that name could be anything other then some sort of implausibly-large-sword wielding badass. ))
