Forgotten. There was no better word to describe the decrepit state of the Indochinese Confederation. Over the past decades, as war raged on in other parts of the world, the peninsula had managed to mostly stay clear of the chaos of the new world. That did not mean progress, on the contrary, technology and culture had stagnated as contact with the outside world decreased and space travel was limited to a single, flimsy and outdated freight transport. The Confederation had been founded on democratic principles, and had somehow managed to adhere to them. The official language was a mix of Thai and Vietnamese, known simply as Lokt-Polt. Over the fifty years or so of it's founding, Lokt-Polt had been instructed as the only language in schools, all other dialects and language being strictly prohibited. As a result, the new generation which would come to make up the bureaucracy and army were a cohesive whole. The recent elections had resulted in the success of the Progressive Party, which advocated taking an active role in global affairs and increasing internal infrastructure. The majority of the population agreed with this view, Indochina deserved to become a global player on the world stage. The Main Cabinet is made up of Premier Diet Nyang (Male, Viet) serving in an executive role, Vice Premier Tet Hol (Female, Thai) as chairperson of the National Assembly, Louis Carnot (Male, Caucasian) as Minister of Defense, and Ho Chi Lith (Male, Khmer) as People's Commissar of the Interior. Diplomatic ties were altogether non-existent, and the government agreed that it was time to open up to the outside world. As a result, envoys are sent to the following nations: ((AMERICA, GERMANY, BRITTANIA, THE REPUBLIC OF AFRICA, SOUTH AMERICAN FEDERATION, AUSTRALASIAN FEDERATION)) with diplomatic packages including: Brief Overview of the Nation's history Governmental organization and functions Economic status (Potential Powerhouse/Open to foreign investors) Brief Overview of the People's Defense Force (Armed forces) Technological Level (Poor compared to most) Plans for the South East Asia region: Consolidation, expansion, and opening up to foreign markets. Proposals for economic cooperation. The foreign nations would be impressed by diplomat's knowledge of their countries, it seems that there education had been catered towards history and local information. The old and unable officers are replaced by younger and more energetic troops, mobilization plans improved, armament updated, but the reforms will take a while. ((2 pages)) Minister Lith proposes a restructuring of the industrial capacity of the nation, ordering more heavy industry and building new capital. ((2 pages)) The Vice Premier plans to push a Social Reform act through the National Assembly, although as of now not many know what it consists of. Premier Nyang continues giving massive rallies and speeches, his face seems to be everywhere on the Indochinese media. The capital of Singapore is plastered with images and sound bits of the man, as are Bangkok and New Saigon. The Indochinese Confederation reacts almost passively towards the new threat of Hera, delivering only some ambiguous messages about "Our mother, Earth" and humanity's need to protect "Our home land". The reserve regiments are not mobilized.

Personally, I don't believe that you can train elite units and that they're made elite by their experience in actual battles. Still, most people say from 5-7 pages. Just remember the Imperial Guard of the Second French empire was "elite", but got crushed by Prussian conscripts.

Indochinese Democratic Republic Grievous destruction was the best way to describe the state of the confederacy. Millions upon millions dead as well as all those wounded and the destroyed infrastructure. Never again, though, was the best way to describe the state of the citizens. Shock and sadness gave way to an insurmountable rage. Someone would have to pay. With war erupting in the Korean peninsula, the air mobile division and an additional two armored divisions are shipped to aid the South Koreans, a long standing ally. The first to arrive would be the 2nd brigade of the 5th airborne division which would make a jump near Seoul, and a warning is promptly sent to the South Korean government. ((1 page before rest of troops arrive)). It is asked that the Indochinese receive word before any naval activities occured, so as to provide aid. A weapon also needed to be tested. The occupation of parts of Southern China continue. An additional 1,500,000 refugees are caught, and the remainders of the IX Border Corps surrender to the Indochinese forces, which also seize a major arsenal at Nuax-Jhuanki. Accommodations are being made to house the refugees and such. The overall operation is considered a military success. The Premier welcomes the Emperor and his retinue to Singapore, the most luxurious accommodations being made available to them. All the goods and vices of the city are laid at the disposal of them. During a conference, the Premier asks that one or more members of the Indochinese government be made part of the Imperial Indonesian retinue and not just be some smaller sort of government. Two additional Glory class submarines are commissioned for the Navy. Diplomacy and Foreign Policy -The government thanks all the nations which provided aid immediately after the nuclear attacks. -It is again asked that officers be attached to METO forces in order to observe the ongoing conflict with the Caliphate.

Well first you decide what tech you'd like to be researching and make a small description of it in your post. Then, you decide how long it would take you to complete it and denote is as ((3 pages)) or however many are needed. It's encouraged that it take 2+ pages unless it's something small like mobilization of some men or a new optic sight or something.

Ever since the Sino-Vietnamese war, the entire peninsula had been laced with underground family shelters, but that was mostly in the countryside. Some 3,000,000 refugees are stopped by the army as well as elements of two divisions which surrender en masse. The remaining parts of government are relocated to Singapore, where they set up an emergency session.
