At a young age he took an interest in military tactics and combat in general, he began to learn both by the book and by the sword, although due to his slim and weak build he was never able to wield large swords and was restricted to using smaller, lighter swords. After leaving home he sought work in minor military organisations as a tactical adviser and sometimes in dire situations, another sword on the field of combat. He spent his late teens and early twenties seeking further employment as a tactician.
