  1. When he received the letter, again, John was alone. A courier walked in, carrying a yellow envelope. John knew it was not good news. Whenever the couriers trudged in, silent and cold, it was not good news. He simply took the paper, and sat down. He unfolded it, and read the first paragraph. He read the note directed to him. The man had no reaction, not at first, at least. He simply stood up, and started walking. Courtiers would see him pacing around the Novellen Gardens. He was oblivious to their greetings. Oblivious to their calls. Some smiled, and tipped their hats or curtsied. Others knew what had happened, and expressed their condolences. Neither heard a reaction. He paced through the gardens, head bowed. Eventually, he found himself by the royal orchids. He stopped there, eyes fixed on the stems and dead flower blossoms at their feet. He stood there a long time. He didn't know how long. Minutes or hours didn't matter to him. Another fallen comrade. Another pulsing stem between his heart and his mind withered. "How much more will I endure?" He finally spoke. How many friends, comrades, teachers, parents, must I lose. He thought back to a sunny day in Novellen. He remembered Jahan's wrinkled smile. He remembered the Knight's mouth moving, another story. Another moral lesson. If only he'd listened. He saw his grandfather's face. He saw his mother's face. He saw Peter Amadeus, and Henry Marshal. His mouth tasted like blood. There was blood. He spit, red dousing the fallen flowers. He touched his lip. He'd bitten through the flesh. He walked home. That night, wails echoed through Trissingham.
  2. John Charles was sitting alone in Trissingham when the news reached him. He had no words. Henry was the man who taught him what he fought for, the man who recruited him to the ISA. The man who trained him. While he sat there, alone, tears came to his eyes. When Peter Amadeus died, he’d taken up a sword. When his grandfather died, John hadn’t cried. When his mother died, John had held his head high, knowing what his people needed to see. When Henry died, he didn’t know who to blame. He didn’t know who to fight, he didn’t know what he had to do. Henry was a mentor, a soldier, a living embodiment of the soul of the nation. John had spoken to the old man, a few days before the election results had been published. Henry told him that he knew his life was nearing its end, but that he had unfinished work with the commons. Unfinished work. That is what John remembered now. He wiped away the tears, and moved to the window, looking out toward the cathedral. He saluted the Major.
  3. Providence Harvest Festival _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ As the people of Oren settle in the new land Almaris, we have overcome great struggle in beginning our lives anew. We lost many good people to the inferi, and the long journey across the sea. But as the people of our country have rebuilt their home, we have much to be thankful for. Just over a year ago, our architects finished the construction of Providence. In a few months time, the industrious farmers of the country will have completed their first full harvest. In celebration, the city administration shall host a Grand Festival. The Festivities shall include: A Parade for all stall owners in Providence. The entrepreneurs may design floats that showcase their products and businesses. Next, the administration shall host a Pumpkin Pie competition in the square. Each contestant may enter one pie, and a board of three judges shall pick a winner based on flavor and presentation. The winner shall have their pie served at the feast in the Palace. After the competition, twenty saint’s minutes shall be allocated to shopping at the various stalls and businesses surrounding the heart of Helena. After the shopping is complete, attendants of the festival are invited to attend a harvest feast in the Palace. 4. John Charles bows his head as the emperor slips away. He had no words, simply reaching for the hands of his siblings, seeking some comfort on this sad day.
  5. When John Charles hears the news his eyes grow hot with tears. He’d known Sir Rylan since he was a boy, when Rylan would watch him in the absence of his parents. Lately it felt like all his childhood friends were disappearing. He moves to the Novellen Chapel, and bows his head in prayer. After a few moments in that position, the young man rises. “Thank you, Sir Rylan Swint, for watching over me.”
  6. The Duke of Furnestock read through the Pacta Conventa, and the ballots of his peers. Before long he delivers his decision. “I, John Charles, Duke of Furnestock, cast my vote in abstention.”

  8. Ensign Helena reads the missive where it’s posted in the bastille. He provides a resolute nod. “Xan’s our man!” He confirms, nodding in approval of the general’s words. “The ISA stands firm.”
  9. Prince John Charles follows the convoy down to Korvassa, loaded crossbow in hand. He sits alongside Edwin Winter atop a war cart, eyes scanning the desert. He murmurs to his comrade, hope in his tone. “No sign of demons yet. There’s still hope for our brothers down here.” He shifts his weight in the seat uncomfortably. “It’s hot down here.” He blinks a few times and wipes his brow, sipping some water. As they arrive in the Korvassa, he releases a relieved sigh. “God save us.”
  10. “For god and country” says Ensign Helena upon hearing the speech, his face flushing red. “God save us all.”
  11. “Good save his soul,” murmurs John, as he reads of the heroic Martin. “We will leave no descendent behind.”
  12. John Charles reads the missive from his desk in the Novellen library. “Well written,” he murmurs to himself, upon setting aside the document. “I must speak to the Vice Chancellor. The lies of the enemies of the descendants cannot go unanswered. We must dispel the utterly criminal behavior from this sellsword and liar. And then, we must defeat these demons.” He huffs, and sets to work penning a response.
  13. John reads the missive and simply states, “Justice for Peter Amadeus.”
  14. “Justice for Peter Amadeus,” says John, furrowing his brow in anger as he reads the lies and equivocations.
  15. “Justice for Peter Amadeus,” John says, upon receiving the news in Novellen, a sad smile on his face.
  16. “An end in sight,” states the Red Prince, as he reads the declaration in Novellen. “This conflict is older than me, and my parents. End it with honor.”
  17. John receives the missive where he stands, amidst a few ISA officers outside the Bastille. The boy frowns as he reads it, thinking of his lost friend. “Peter Amadeus, we will deliver justice.”
  18. I just don't wanna get banned for my pistol duels with @yopplwasupxxx
  19. This poll is poorly phrased and should probably be discarded. Ppl read read firearms and may not understand that it means simple flintlock guns, not revolvers or anything more advanced. In role play it makes perfect sense to begin advancing the setting. It provides new and interesting role-play, that does not need to alter peoples experiences if they want to avoid it.
