  1. An older, fatter boy, of brown hair and blue eyes stared up at the larger hall in the distance. He thought of the young boy, and he frowned. He made a promise to himself, then, which would prove to be unwavering.
  2. Young children may struggle understanding concepts of death when they are this age, and perhaps while none my realise it immediately, only when time had taken a further toll upon him, but Andrei's death- for Frederik, it would change everything.
  3. map actually looks super ******* sick, all credit to the team that has worked on this, this looks really promising
  4. finally some giant elf trees.
  5. "Oh!" Tomasz smiled as he read over the missive, "I must extend my congratulations to Louna." He hummed idly to himself as he carried on with his day, before making preparations to send a letter to the new Baroness later.
  6. The hours passed after the battle in Reinmar had finished, Tomasz, paced around the Aleksandrplatz of New Valdev while licking his wounds. But he could not rest yet, he could not think yet. For all of those who now meandered aimlessly around the square or the hospital of St. Amyas, none of them were Evelina. And so time passed as he paced endlessly. Until a call was heard from beyond the gates, “Baron Valkonen! I bring your wife!” A man in armour sat atop his horse, with her on the back. “Tomasz, I’m here.” Her voice trembled as she reached her arm up weakly, her exhaustion and pain evident. Swiftly, he made his way to the gatehouse, opening the gates to let the two of them in, and they took her with haste to the hospital. Brief words were exchanged between the two men, an offer of gratitude for the mercifulness of returning her to the city, rather than taking her with the rest of the captives to Númendil. Eventually, they parted ways once more, but he would not forget the name of the man who had shown them this kindness. In spite of this, despite everything, they would welcome two children into the world upon this eve. Issued by On the 12th of Tov and Yermey, 573 E.S. It is with great pleasure that the Baroness and Baron-Consort can announce that the future of the House of Valkonen is yet secure, with the addition of not one, but two members of the family. Thus, the House of Valkonen can proudly announce the birth of the heir apparent to the Barony of Karoswald, who has been joined by a twin sister. The two were born upon the eve of the 11th of Tov and Yermey, 573 E.S. Despite the stressful circumstances leading up to their birth, the elder of the twin girls were a simple affair, though the babe has been wailing since her entry into this world. The younger of the two were born some time later, after an arduous labour, accompanied by an eerie silence. Both girls share the features of their father, with golden hair and pale blue eyes. MILENA CECILYA VALKONEN (@liz) MAGDALENA ANASTASYA VALKONEN (@Phersades) A private baptism shall be held for the Valkonen family within the near future, so these two additions to the family may be welcomed properly into the world. THE HONOURABLE, Baroness of Karoswald. HIS EXCELLENCY, Lord Palatine of Hanseti-Ruska, Baron-Consort of Karoswald.
  7. Issued by the LORD PALATINE OF HANSETI-RUSKA c. 9th OF VZMEY AND HYFF, 573 E.S. A MISSIVE FROM THE LORD PALATINE ON PRINCIPLES OF GOVERNANCE VE ASSERAN UZMAE NOVD, Three years ago, when I served as Lord Regent of this Kingdom, I released to the public three documents. The Edict of Obergrad, the Royal Decree on Fair Trials, and the Royal Decree on Appropriate Criminal Punishment me. In doing so, I intentionally made the distinction between what I considered to be Edict, and that which I considered to be Decree. These words have often been used interchangeably in the long history of our Kingdom. However, it is my intention to create a distinction between these, both in an effort to make it clearer what these entail, and also in the hopes that this distinction may allow the various Offices and Institutions a greater freedom in governing themselves. Edicts are the simpler of the two subjects to be touched upon, for the concept of the Edict is, in truth, rather unproblematic. Edicts have, since the time of the first Haurul Caezk in 340 E.S., been the method by which the Crown (or in some cases, an Aulic Councillor with the express consent of the Crown) to amend the Haurul Caezk. I do reaffirm this historical stance on the nature of Edicts. The Haurul Caezk is the all-encompassing law code of the Kingdom, because of this, it becomes increasingly prudent that there are options when it comes to rewriting and adapting the law, as otherwise we would be left with an ancient law code, hardly fit for the society we have today. Therefore, we have two ways to amend the Haurul Caezk: firstly, through the aforementioned Edicts; secondly, through legislation passed in the Royal Duma. It is clear that by their nature of being one of two ways to amend the Haurul Caezk, that an Edict should only come directly from the Crown itself, or, as has been done often in practice, with the clear consent and approval of the Crown. The integrity of the clear consent and approval of the Crown should be stressed, as otherwise it may cast the legality of the Edict into question. This practice has allowed the Aulic Councillors to make changes to the Haurul Caezk when necessary for them in their reforms, as otherwise they would have had to petition the Royal Duma to pass bills pertaining to these reforms. Decrees are where the matter becomes more complicated, especially owing to the historical tendency for all documents issued by the Crown, a member of the Aulic Council, or an institution, to use the terminology of Edict. A tendency that we do not fault them for, for the matter is complex, and there has not prior been made an attempt to distinguish Edicts and Decrees from one another. A Decree is a binding document issued by the relevant head of an institution. Institutions must in this case be considered broadly, as to understand that this could range from the Crown itself to the Hospital of St. Amyas, meaning there is a broad selection of people who possess the privilege to issue Decrees. It must furthermore be stressed that a Decree shall remain within the subject matter of the institution, though it is possible that institutions can make joint decrees. For example, the Surgeon-General cannot singlehandedly issue a Decree that the Treasury shall provide funding for replacement limbs to soldiers of the Brotherhood of St. Karl. However, the Surgeon-General, the Lord Treasurer, and the Lord Marshal may jointly issue such a Decree. Only the Crown may issue Royal Decrees that pertain to the subject matter of any institution. A Decree is written with the intent of clarifying or establishing a practice of the relevant institution, in such a way where it either builds upon the words of the Haurul Caezk (for such are often vague) or fills in any gaps that may have been left in it. A Decree can therefore not amend the Haurul Caezk, for that is what Edicts are. As such, they may not contradict the Haurul Caezk. While principally, a Decree is in effect until stated otherwise, or until conditions written into the Decree are met, they are easily rescinded as they are written. The head of the institution that issued the Decree may, if they see it fit, rescind it with immediate effect. For joint Decrees, it is enough for the head of one of the institutions for it to be considered rescinded wholly. The Crown, furthermore, may rescind any Decree, if it finds it to be against the values by which it wishes to govern. For examples of recent Decrees, you may see the Royal Decree on Fair Trials[1] and the Royal Decree on Appropriate Criminal Punishment[2] issued during my time as Lord Regent. Furthermore, you may see Lord Speaker Sigmund Ludovar’s Ludovik Decree[3], establishing policies regarding how His Excellency wishes to conduct sessions of the Royal Duma. This, however, may give the impression that only things titled Decree are Decrees, but by definition, a lot of other publications by heads of institutions are, by their nature, Decrees. My publication on the reorganisation of the Office of the Lord Palatine into the Secretariat of the Lord Palatine[4] is, in accordance with the principles outlined above, a Decree; a Decree that establishes practices on the structure of the Palatial Office. Various documents issued through time, titled as Edicts, would also be Decrees rather than Edicts by these principles. As such, there remains some work in combing through the legal history of this Kingdom and determining the legal status of various Decrees written in the past, something that I intend to rely on the Aulic Court for. It is my belief that Decrees, just as the Edicts and the Haurul Caezk, must be subject to intense legal review to ensure the legality of them. 8. For reasons unknown to himself at the time, Fat Freddy Kortrevich cracks a wide smile.
  9. "Forever in faith, never in state," Tomasz continues to be the third person to speak that word, but in a slightly different way. Afterwards, he falls to his knees and signs the Lorraine cross over his chest, both in celebration of this faithful brotherhood, but also in mourning of the Haeseni hero, Barbara Heidyr, an inspiration to all commoners.
  10. 559 HAESENI SNAILULA ONE CHAMPIONSHIP CHAMPIONSHIP CONCLUSION INCLUDING NOVKURSAIN AND LESANOV GRAND PRIX SUMMARIES Issued by THE HAESENI FEDERATION OF SNAIL RACING Naf zwy 2nd hag i Tov ag Yermey i 572 E.S. NOVKURSAIN GRAND PRIX RACE SUMMARY Our final venture outside of the New Valdev took us to the lands of Novkursain, home to House Weiss, though some “circumstances” involving their keep meant that the race was instead held by the local lake. The exhaustion of the season had been hitting the snails and their racers hard, and only eight were able to make a start for us. It was pole position for Tomasz Karoswald and Snail Slowuel Slimegio, who commanded quite a lead in the championship, with 31 points down to second place. Dima Kortrevich and Mozzasnaila qualified second, and Robert Ludovar with Turboculosis (V) would start third. An interesting start to the race, as Snail Slowuel Slimegio and Mikhaila Colborn’s Carlos Snailz ducked in for an early pitstop largely unprompted. But with the exception of Anaksandr Amador and Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff, it was tight at the front for the lead, switching between the likes of Snail Slowuel Slimegio, Robert Ludovar and Turboculosis (V), Carlos Snailz, and Mozzasnaila. King Joren and Exalted Slugismund would also make an appearance, though they arrived late and would go on to play catchup for most of the race, though this would matter little to the determined snail, for they would not finish last in this race. Around the halfway point of the race, Snail Slowuel Slimegio, who had been one of the most consistent snails of the season, with an average finish of close to third, and yet to not finish a race, spun out some time after a pitstop, ending in the barriers, and crashing out for the first time this season. This meant that the remaining Championship contenders of Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff and Carlos Snailz needed to capitalise on this race if they were to bring the fight to Snail Slowuel Slimegio in the finale. After a long safety snail, the snails were pretty bunched up behind it, heading into the final zig-zag part of the track. And it was Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff, who had managed to catch up during the safety snail, who managed to cross the finish line first, for a third consecutive race, just as Mozzasnaila crashed out. A second safety snail came out, and after its conclusion it was Turboculosis who would take home second place, making up for their previous streak of crashes. Carlos Snailz brought it home in third, marking another great result for the S-Ladies. Queen Nadya had a pretty anonymous race, though she would yet manage a fourth place. Ser Andrei and Snaile Earnhardt somehow, and we at the HFSR are not quite sure, finished sixth, which meant he was overtaken by Exalted Slugismund, who had shown up late, and took home fifth. With these results in mind, only Snail Slowuel Slimegio (113 points) and Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff (105 points) are in the championship fight heading into the final race. Carlos Snailz (86 points) is assured of, at least, third place. The Teams’ Championship will not be contested into the final race, for the S-Ladies (191 points), consisting of Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff and Carlos Snailz, have created such a gap to second placed Snailderia Crowsari (139 points), consisting of Snail Slowuel Slimegio and Lightning McKoenas, that it is mathematically impossible for them to lose the Teams’ Championship. LESANOV GRAND PRIX RACE SUMMARY The final race of the season, the King or Queen of Snailula One would be crowned, and what more fitting place for that to be concluded than in the very throne room of the Kastell Lesanov. An intense championship would see its end here, Tomasz Karoswald versus Anaksandr Amador - Snail Slowuel Slimegio versus Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff. This would be the grand finale. Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff came off of a three consecutive wins, while Snail Slowuel Slimegio had crashed in the previous Novkursain Grand Prix. Yet, it was Snail Slowuel Slimegio who showed their winning intent first, qualifying on pole position. Behind Snail Slowuel Slimegio would qualify Queen Nadya and Elizaveta Cargot in second, and Dame Dima raced a brand new snail …Frederik Otto Kortrevich…? (this contestant is currently under investigation, due to suspicions raced by teams that this may indeed have been a human baby) in third. After qualifying, however, Dame Dima was indisposed due to a diplomatic meeting, and racing was handled by the Beautiful Barbara Heidyr. Snail Slowuel Slimegio had a terrible start to the race, which saw them immediately dumped to a battle for last place against… Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff. It seemed that the two championship contenders had decided to have a slug off. Beautiful Barbara Heidyr took a fairly dominant lead on behalf of Dame Dima, though they were tailed by the returning Sosina Colborn and Goomy (the HFSR cannot express in words the joys of seeing Sosina Colborn return, she was always a favourite of ours). Snail Slowuel Slimegio and Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff scrapped behind in an intense and ruthless battle to not finish this race last, while the rest of the grid pulled ahead. Then, suddenly, into turn three, Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff carried too much speed into the corner, and crashed into the barriers. Their first crash of the season, and at exactly the wrong time. There was now nothing that could be done, Snail Slowuel Slimegio would become Champion, regardless of where or whether they finished this race. Three long safety snails allowed, in fact, Snail Slowuel Slimegio to catch up to the rest of the pack, or what remained of it. Mikhaila Colborn and Carlos Snailz, who had been in the fight for the lead, crashed on their way out of the pitstops immediately after a safety snail release, which had been caused by a crash from Elizaveta Cargot. Goomy would take a triumphant and dominant win in their final race of the season. Despite their poor start, Snail Slowuel Slimegio, the eternal second place, would take home second once again this season. And Barbara Heidyr led Dame Dima’s snail to a third place finish. FINAL STANDINGS As it stands, the Snails’ Championship Standings are as follows: 1st - Tomasz Karoswald and Snail Slowuel Slimegio - 131 points. (CHAMPION) 2nd - Anaksandr Amador and Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff - 105 points. 3rd - Mikhaila Colborn and Carlos Snailz - 86 points. 4th - Princess Milena and Snailvan VIII - 82 points. 5th - King Joren and Exalted Slugismund - 48 points. 6th - Dame Dima and Frederik Otto Kortrevich - 46 points. 7th - Princess Nadya and Elizaveta Cargot (III) - 44 points. 8th - Robert Ludovar and Turboculosis (III) - 43 points. 9th - Sosina Colborn and Goomy - 37 points. 10th - Prince Aleksandr and S’Nail var Slimaki - 27 points. 11th - King Karl and Lightning McKoenas - 26 points. 12th - Sergei var Ruthern and Slimealicious - 25 points. 13th - Ser Andrei and Snaile Earnhardt - 24 points. 14th - Nóruiel and Slimelda the Swift - 19 points. 15th - Patriarch Alaric and Escarsepsis - 18 points. 16th - Azerdel and Fluffy - 18 points. 17th - Daisy and Snuddy - 15 points. 19th - Thorim and Drorg - 15 points. 20th - Kazimir Weiss and Breakneck - 14 points. 21st - Sophia and Ikur Seregon - 12 points. 22nd - Mieszko and the Cursed Creature - 12 points. 23rd - Isurus and Vallei - 10 points. 24th - Princess Isabel and Swift Foot - 10 points. 25th - Vasilia Barrow and Madame Mucinda - 1 point. 26th - Alric var Ruthern and Herobrine - 0 points. 27th - Olyena Ivanovich and Parrot - 0 points. 11. Issued by the LORD PALATINE OF HANSETI-RUSKA c. 11th OF VZMEY AND HYFF, 571 E.S. RESTRUCTURING OF THE PALATIAL OFFICE VE ASSERAN UZMAE NOVD, I have to start this by thanking you, the people, for receiving my appointment as well as you have. As well as the Regency that I had to supervise until the untimely death of his Royal Majesty, King Karl IV. I will forever be grateful to him. I must also thank his Royal Majesty, King Joren, for his continued faith in me to serve as Lord Palatine and Chancellor of the Realm. I have taken it upon myself to prioritise examining the Office of the Lord Palatine, what I wish for it to be, and how it currently functions. Lord Palatine is a truly unique position upon the King’s Council. I am his second-in-command, I am the head of the Aulic Council. The work that I do is not like that of any of the other positions upon the Aulic Council. The Lord Treasurer, for example, has ample reason to hire plenty of stewards to help him collect taxes, sell houses, manage our national shops, et cetera, it would not be possible for the Lord Treasurer to do it all alone. But my work is about assisting the Crown and guiding His Royal Majesty’s Aulic Council. It is a rather personal thing, to be entrusted as Lord Palatine. Despite this, the Lord Palatine has not only been expected to be second-in-command and head of the Aulic Council, but also to maintain an Office of the Lord Palatine, containing Kommissars, Palatial Scribes, Palatial Liaisons, and such other positions throughout the years. I think of this as a sort of remnant from the early days of Haeseni Independence, during which we attempted to establish our own bureaucratic institutions, to make up for the Orenian ones we were no longer a part of. This was, of course, well-intended, but has ended up creating roles which are either unfilled or ineffective. I wish to eliminate this ineffective and unnecessary bureaucracy within the Aulic Government, and therefore I am restructuring the Office of the Lord Palatine into the Secretariat of the Lord Palatine. Many of the positions of the former Office shall cease to exist, as I wish to instead deploy the manpower to the other Aulic Offices. I still hope to carry on the tradition of the Lord Palatine taking wards. My own generation is soon to marry and have children, and I am looking forward to taking in my own group of these as wards. I wish to create capable statesmen of them that would be of value to my own position, and to any other position within the Realm. The Secretariat of the Lord Palatine is the office serving directly below the Lord Palatine of Hanseti-Ruska, the Chancellor and second-in-command of the Kingdom. The Lord Palatine holds great importance within the Kingdom, and as such the Secretariat lends its gentle hand to all matters and aspects of government. As a part of the Secretariat of the Lord Palatine sits the Deputy Palatine and the Palatial Secretary, in addition to the Palatial Wards. It is possible that additional positions may be created within the Secretariat in the future, should the times deem it necessary; if such is the case, this document shall be dutifully updated. The Deputy Palatine is the right hand of the Lord Palatine, and may act on their behalf in their absence within reason. They provide a great deal of administrative support, such as aiding in the drafting of Edicts, Decrees, and other documents of importance to the Realm. In the light of their lack of specified duties and responsibilities, the Deputy Palatine is a most versatile role that may lend its aid wherever necessary. There is currently a vacancy for Deputy Palatine. We are not seeking to appoint a Deputy Palatine at the moment. The Palatial Secretary is responsible for managing and coordinating the schedule of the Lord Palatine, as well as taking notes and keeping records. The role is therefore essentially in ensuring that the Lord Palatine is able to upkeep their desired level of transparency with the public. The current Palatial Secretary is Caliope Colborn. The Palatial Wards are the future of the bureaucracy of the Kingdom, coming from a variety of families and backgrounds from the Kingdom, these young people are taught, educated, and granted various tasks by the Lord Palatine, in the hopes of making them suited for government in their adult future. There are currently no Palatial Wards. VE EDLERVIK, MEA LIFST AG MEA ZALIBA OVARE DLUM TEAM, HIS EXCELLENCY, TOMASZ VAN VE KAROSWALD LORD PALATINE OF HAENSE.
  12. It was not like Tomasz to cry, but even then, men of glass could only be so persistent. It would, of course, be dishonest to say that he and Milena had been particularly close. He had grown up far away from the halls of the Lesanov and the bustling streets of New Valdev. So Milena’s stern eyes had only cast their look upon him when he had reached his teens, but he had come to respect her greatly. Perhaps it were circumstances, then. First Karl, then Milena. All something which he had had to manage, a time where the responsibility over the entire Kingdom had been placed on his shoulders suddenly, and for naught. When things had settled, he would’ve hoped to speak to Milena more, hear her experience of holding the Golden Bulava, both for Marius and for Karl, but now it were not possible. He did not know who to blame for these circumstances. It were either Karl, who had introduced him to the city of New Valdev and its people, then he had become close friends and eventually Palatine for. Or perhaps, were it Milena? She were, after all, the one who had infused her own ambition in him, and now it would stay with him forever, alone. He could only hope that Milena had come, or would come, to respect him as much as he respected her. She was a good Lord Palatine, and a mighty woman. And time would not erase the memory of her.
  13. A day had passed, then another, then another, and those days became weeks, and they would too become months. The throne room was alight with music, song, dance, and merriment. The grand finale of Lifstala, the day of Courtship. Tomasz van ve Karoswald handed off his final card, and reached instead into his own pocket. There was his own card, Adegar, the Divine Cupbearer. It were a great irony to him, that of course the Royal Cupbearer received the card of Adegar. Somewhere, someone in attendance, would too hold Adegar, and they were chosen to dance together. He held no high hopes for who his match may be, after all, it were in the cards, and he would surely not reveal, not even to his own thoughtstream, how the recipients of each card had been chosen. The Lord Palatine’s office had remained dimly lit since the arrival of news from Nilbud, and the Palatine himself had scarcely been seen by any of the Kingdom’s denizens since then. The faint flickers of light from the candles granted one only vision of the Palatine’s desk; whereupon very little remained, instead most of his belongings had been packed up into boxes, hidden in the darkness. Venturing into that throne room, filled to the brim with shouts of different figures within the Haeseni Mythologie, and the band, consisting of Aldrik, Barbara, Bogdana, and Arjen (they would later go on to shorten the band's name), had begun playing many of their classics. Carefully did he navigate into the room, peering between his card and the gathered attendants. If you were none the wiser, perhaps it was about now that you had expected the journey of Tomasz van ve Karoswald to near its end. That if he could not be at the side of Karl, then perhaps he would simply cease to exist, that the fields once more called his name. After all, his life so far had been carried by the efforts of that one man. Of course, he knew who had received Adegar. Though, if it were not for the fact that he had met her some hours prior, while spectating a session of the Royal Duma, then he likely would not have known her name. For a moment, he considered chickening out. After all, Lifstala were an event for the nobility to mingle, and he could not say that he felt at home in it, therefore his commitment to hosting rather than participating. But it would not be so, such efforts could not bear to go to waste, and he had grown his own roots, deeply implanted in those who surrounded him. But he didn’t. Instead, he prodded carefully, “Ah… Prevja, Evelina, was it?” The hint of a nervous smile on his visage, though she did not seem to notice. Instead, Evelina Irena Valkonen turned towards him, dignified as always. “Prevja, Tomasz!”He drew his card then, pointing it in her direction, “You have Adegar too, right?” So Tomasz Karoswald sat in that dark office, at the desk whereupon very little remained. In the center of his desk were one thing, a card depicting Adegar, the Divine Cupbearer. The card had faded some with the years, having been carried around his pocket for about half a decade. But, in this moment, it seemed as though a light reflected off of it, and only he knew that he needed that light more than ever. It is the utmost pleasure of Evelina Irena Valkonen and Tomasz van ve Karoswald to cordially extend an invite, not only to close friends and family, but to the entire people of Haense, to attend and celebrate their union. The hands of the couple are to be joined in holy matrimony Basilica of St. Joren and the Broken Chains. After the ceremony, the final race of the 559 Haeseni Snailula One Championship, the Kastell Lesanov Grand Prix, shall be held in the throne room. Who will be crowned as the Champion of Snailula One? 14. PROCLAMATION OF 571 KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM Issued by the LORD REGENT Naf zwy 10th hag i Wzuvar ag Byvca i 571 E.S. VA VE EDLERVIK, A dark time is upon us, On the eve of the 6th day of Wzuvar and Byvca, a letter arrived from the distant land of Nilbud, delivered by a foreign courier. It had been some since I had last received a letter from His Royal Majesty and his entourage. And so, it is with heavy heart that I must announce that His Royal Majesty, King Karl IV, our Pious King, has passed away while travelling abroad in hopes of finding a cure to his ailment. As His Royal Majesty and his entourage set sail from Nilbud, continuing their travels westwards to pass through the Thousand Isles, a heavy storm descended upon the oceans. With the fury of the skies upon them, HMS Amyas made an attempt to return to port. Here the King’s health deteriorated further and the final rites were administered before he passed on that very evening into the arms of our Lord. King Karl IV was only a young man, graced by GOD with a natural aptitude of leadership deserving of a Monarch of our Kingdom. And yet, he has been taken from us unexpectedly and far too soon than any of us would have ever dared to think. I shall mourn him forever, for he was my best friend, and I know that all of you reading this shall mourn him too. In line with the Haeseni Laws of Succession, I must proclaim that His Royal Majesty’s eldest brother, His Royal Highness, Joren Manfred, the Duke of Alban, shall ascend to the Haeseni throne. Invitations for a funeral procession shall be sent to our allies and the public as soon as possible. Even in the darkest of times, remember this: I would have perished had I not persisted. KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM VE EDLERVIK, MEA LIFST AG MEA ZALIBA OVARE DLUM TEAM HIS EXCELLENCY, Tomasz van ve Karoswald, Lord Regent and Palatine of Hanseti-Ruska
  15. ROYAL DECREE ON APPROPRIATE CRIMINAL PUNISHMENTS KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM Issued by the CROWN Naf zwy 10th hag i Tov ag Yermey i 570 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, With the recent publication of the Edict of Obergrad, overseeing the reform of the Aulic Court to a form where it shall consist of the Boyars of the Royal Duma and the Crown-appointed Jovenaar (henceforth referred to either as simply ‘the Aulic Court’, or as ‘the Jovenaars’ for simplicity - A Boyar of the Royal Duma is a Jovenaar through virtue of being a Boyar of the Royal Duma, thus any mention of Jovenaar in this document shall include them), this Royal Decree is intended to come alongside it, and establish guidelines to the Aulic Court on the matter of administering appropriate criminal punishments. This Decree shall outline what the Crown views to be an appropriate punishment for the various crimes within the Jura i Krima, though it does simultaneously acknowledge that the circumstances may call for a punishment that falls outside of this purview, in accordance with Ch V.IV. of the Jura i Kongzem. 16. ROYAL DECREE ON FAIR TRIALS KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM Issued by the CROWN Naf zwy 10th hag i Tov ag Yermey i 570 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, With the recent publication of the Edict of Obergrad, overseeing the reform of the Aulic Court to a form where it shall consist of the Boyars of the Royal Duma and the Crown-appointed Jovenaar (henceforth referred to either as simply ‘the Aulic Court’, or as ‘the Jovenaars’ for simplicity - A Boyar of the Royal Duma is a Jovenaar through virtue of being a Boyar of the Royal Duma, thus any mention of Jovenaar in this document shall include them), this Royal Decree is intended to come alongside it, and establish guidelines of the Aulic Court on how to properly hold a fair and just trial. Given that the Aulic Court now consists largely of the Boyars of the Royal Duma, whom majority thereof are either Peers of the Realm or members of a House that holds a Peerage, it is important to ensure that we maintain ourselves with a dignified system in which no doubt can be cast on the just nature of our trials. This Decree shall be binding for the Aulic Court until such a time where it is explicitly rendered invalid, or until such a time whereupon it becomes obsolete. ON FAIR AND JUST TRIALS I. When petitioned for a Trial by Plea, the Chief Jovenaar shall assemble at the earliest convenience as many Jovenaars of the Aulic Court as possible. II. A Trial by Plea shall be conducted by an uneven number of Jovenaar, though at minimum three Jovenaar. I.a. The Crown may permit, if the situation deems it strictly necessary, for a trial to be held by less than three Jovenaar. I.b. In an instance where two Jovenaar cannot come to a verdict, the trial shall be suspended until such a time where a third Jovenaar can join them. I.c. In an instance where one Jovenaar is granted leave by the Crown to conduct a trial alone, the Aulic Court shall allow greater leniency in allowing the parties to appeal the verdict to the Crown, in accordance with Ch. V.V. of the Jura i Kongzem. II. A Jovenaar must recuse themselves from conducting a trial if it concerns: II.a. their House; II.b. their immediate family; II.c. their subjects; II.d. their vested interests. III. If a Jovenaar is found to have conducted a trial which concerned their House, their immediate family, their subjects, or their vested interests, can be punished by the Crown as follows: III.a. through a reprimand, if of a mild nature. III.b. through temporary suspension from the Aulic Court, if of a moderate nature. III.c. through permanent suspension from the Aulic Court, if of an extreme nature. IV. The Aulic Court shall allow sufficient and suitable leniency in allowing the parties to appeal a verdict to the Crown, in accordance with Ch. V.V. of the Jura i Kongzem. V. The Aulic Court shall publish their written verdict to the public within a reasonable time frame from the date the verdict was issued. ON FAIR AND JUST LEGAL REVIEWS I. When petitioned for a Legal Review, the Chief Jovenaar shall assemble at the earliest convenience all of the Jovenaars of the Aulic Court. II. A Legal Review may be conducted by any number of Jovenaar, though at minimum three Jovenaar. III. A Jovenaar is not required to participate in the conducting of a Legal Review, and may recuse themselves from such at any time and for any reason, as long as at minimum three Jovenaar remain involved. IV. The Aulic Court shall deliver Legal Reviews within a suitable time frame from the date the Legal Review was submitted before the Aulic Court. V. All Legal Reviews must immediately be published to the public upon the time it is delivered. 17. EDYKT I OBERGRAD EDICT OF OBERGRAD KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM Issued by the CROWN Naf zwy 10th hag i Tov ag Yermey i 570 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, The Aulic Court has historically been one of the main institutions of our Kingdom, co-existing with the Aulic Council and the Royal Duma as one of the few with powers over legal matters. The Aulic Court did see its glory days in the early days of Haeseni independence, where a larger degree of legal matters needed settling than is the case today, and despite various attempts from previous governments since those days to reinvigorate the institution, such as by King Georg through the Edict of Staalgrav (466 E.S.)[1], or more recently through the efforts of then Lord Palatine Erik Kortrevich through the Krusevian Reforms (547 E.S.)[2]. We are nevertheless led to the conclusion that the institution of the Aulic Court, existing as it does now within the Kingdom’s government, is no longer one that the Kingdom can actively support. The amount of trials held is largely dwindling, and there are generally few who study the ways of the Jovenaar, leaving behind an inefficient and sluggish institution which sees little use. That is not to say, however, that the Aulic Court should cease to exist outright. There is still a need for justice within the Kingdom, and there must be those who are not only granted the ability, but the duty, to administer it. With this in mind, it is our goal to ensure the safe transfer of these duties to a suitable group wherein we find it meaningful to grant these. [1] HRM, Georg Sigmund, King of Hanseti and Ruska, the Edict of Staalgrav, 466 E.S. [2] HE, Erik Kortrevich, Lord Palatine of Hanseti-Ruska, the Krusevian Reform, 547 E.S. THE EDICT OF OBERGRAD The duties and responsibilities of the Aulic Court shall be given to the Boyars of the Royal Duma: these being the Peers of the Realm (or their Representatives), the Grand Maer, and the Royal Aldermen, who shall all serve as Jovenaar as an extension to their status as a Boyar of the Royal Duma. Furthermore, in addition to these Jovenaar, the Crown shall maintain the right to appoint Jovenaar outside of the Boyars of the Royal Duma whenever it deems it suitable and necessary. The Aulic Court shall continue to exist in name, despite its de facto membership consisting primarily of the Boyars of the Royal Duma. It shall not become part of the Royal Duma, nor shall the Lord Speaker hold any influence over the Aulic Court, nor shall they be considered a Jovenaar, for it would be a great overstep of the balance between the Aulic Court and the Aulic Council to do so. One may note that the Royal Duma is already responsible for the writing and passing of bills of law, and therefore have the best ability to interpret and administer the Haurul Caezk and the Law of the Realm. Furthermore, the Boyars of the Royal Duma, being predominantly the Peerage of the Realm (though also those entrusted to serve in elected positions by the People), are well-educated people, both in law and history, but also in morality and the spirit of our people. The Aulic Court shall be headed by the Chief Jovenaar, which shall be selected from amongst the members of the Aulic Court through a majority vote of the aforementioned members. Furthermore, the Crown states its intent to publish a set of Royal Decrees on matters of interpretation of parts of the law, so that the newly reformed Aulic Court is not left without guidelines to administer the Law of the Realm from. AMENDMENTS TO THE HAURUL CAEZK AND THE HERZEN HAURUL The following amendments shall be made to the Haurul Caezk: To the Jura i Kongzem: V.I. The Aulic Court shall be the judges of law of the Kingdom, and it shall consist of the Boyars of the Royal Duma and the Crown-appointed Jovenaars as the foremost judges in the realm. V.VI. The Crown may appoint Jovenaars to sit upon the Aulic Court alongside the Boyars of the Royal Duma. V.VII. The Chief Jovenaar shall be in charge of overseeing the Aulic Court, including, but not limited to, arranging trials, publishing judgements and legal reviews, and so forth. V.VIII. The Chief Jovenaar shall be selected from the members of the Aulic Court by the members of the Aulic Court through a majority vote, though they may not be a member of the Aulic Council. The following amendments shall be made to the Herzen Haurul: To the Herzen Lusz: Ch. II.III.ii, which reads “The privilege to confirm a member of the Aulic Court (Eulyik Kort) as Jovenaar” shall be removed. 18. 559 HAESENI SNAILULA ONE CHAMPIONSHIP KOPPÁNY GRAND PRIX RACE SUMMARY Issued by THE HAESENI FEDERATION OF SNAIL RACING Naf zwy 2nd hag i Tov ag Yermey i 570 E.S. Our second venture to a vassal of Haense tok us all the way into the Aestmarch, to Koppány, where the House of Korvacz resides. There, around the Saintswood, did our snails engage in one of the most dramatic snail races of the season. Nine snails would start the race, but only three would finish. Dima Kovachev announced that herself and Shelly Duval would not be present for the race, excusing themselves for reasons of “saving the world”, the HFSR will investigate the truth of these claims, to see whether the decision to not attend the race was rooted in illegal match-fixing activities. A returning Prince Aleksandr and S’Nail var Slimaki put in an excellent qualifying performance, taking pole position. Prince Joren and Exalted Slugismund took second. They were followed by last time’s race winner, Anaksandr Amador and Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff, in third. Off the line, it was Exalted Slugismund who took the lead, but either the circuit of the Saintswood were too difficult for them, or the snail had too slimed much too slippery before the beginning of the race, for they immediately slammed into the barriers with some force. This caused an early safety snail, where all snails bunched up behind it, essentially allowing them a second chance at a race start. However, many were in the pits, and were released disjointedly. Only Tomasz Karoswald and Snail Slowuel Slimegio, as well as debutant Olyena Ivanovich and Parrot, were out of the pits, before a new incident. It was a disaster in the pits. The pitstop crew of S’Nail var Slimaki had recently been fired, so Prince Aleksandr was forced to tend to it himself. This caused the snail too be slimed to a much higher degree than was needed, and they plunged straight into their SR Galaharing teammate, Princess Milena and Snailvan VIII. A stray piece of shell was launched onto the track, and took out Princess Nadya and Elizaveta Cargot (III). A truly royal flush, as every participating member of the House of Barbanov-Bihar had been eliminated within minutes of the race starting, only the five remaining snails of Snail Slowuel Slimegio, Parrot, Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff, Robert Ludovar and Turboculosis (IV), as well as Mikhaila Colborn and Carlos Snailz. It was on and off for the race lead, which switched hands between Snail Slowuel Slimegio, Parrot, Turboculosis (IV) and Carlos Snailz, while Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff lurked some ways behind the rest of them. The race was not yet done with its incidents, for Turboculosis (IV) came into some trouble while on the long straight of the circuit, spinning out and hitting the barriers. This caused another long safety snail, much to the dismay of Snail Slowuel Slimegio, who had begun to pull away from the rest of the pack. With the safety snail blocking Snail Slowuel Slimegio from taking their first win this season, the snails behind began their attempts to catch up. Though only Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff managed to get leveled with Snail Slowuel Slimegio. Parrot crashed out during the safety car, and Carlos Snailz were some way back. Off the safety snail restart, Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff would take the win from Snail Slowuel Slimegio, overtaking superbly and winning their second consecutive race. Snail Slowuel Slimegio would take home second, though not unthreatened by Carlos Snailz, who took third. The championship is beginning to narrow down, and now only the top four snails stand a chance of taking home the 559 Haeseni Snailula One Championship at the end of the season. The fans awarded Snail Slowuel Slimegio with the Snail of the Day Award, to make them feel better. As it stands, the Racers’ Championship Standings are as follows: 1st - Tomasz Karoswald and Snail Slowuel Slimegio - 113 points. 2nd - Princess Milena and Snailvan VIII - 82 points. 3rd - Anaksandr Amador and Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff - 80 points. 4th - Mikhaila Colborn and Carlos Snailz - 71 points. 5th - Prince Joren and Exalted Slugismund - 38 points. 6th - Princess Nadya and Elizaveta Cargot (III) - 32 points. 7th - Dima Kovachev and Shelly Duval - 31 points. 8th - Prince Aleksandr and S’Nail var Slimaki - 27 points. 9th - King Karl and Lightning McKoenas - 26 points. 10th - Robert Ludovar and Turboculosis (III) - 25 points. 11th - Sergei var Ruthern and Slimealicious - 25 points. 12th - Nóruiel and Slimelda the Swift - 19 points. 13th - Bishop Alaric and Escarsepsis - 18 points. 14th - Azerdel and Fluffy - 18 points. 15th - Andrei Kortrevich and Shelldrei - 16 points. 16th - Daisy and Snuddy - 15 points. 17th - Thorim and Drorg - 15 points. 18th - Kazimir Weiss and Breakneck - 14 points. 19th - Mieszko and the Cursed Creature - 12 points. 20th - Sosina Colborn and Goomy - 12 points. 21st - Sophia and Ikur Seregon - 12 points. 22nd - Isurus and Vallei - 10 points. 23rd - Princess Isabel and Swift Foot - 10 points. 24th - Vasilia Barrow and Madame Mucinda - 1 point. 25th - Alric var Ruthern and Herobrine - 0 points. 19. 559 HAESENI SNAILULA ONE CHAMPIONSHIP ST. KARL’S BARRACKS GRAND PRIX RACE SUMMARY Issued by THE HAESENI FEDERATION OF SNAIL RACING Naf zwy 1st hag i Tov ag Yermey i 570 E.S. A scheduling issue with the House of Weiss resulted in the postponement of the Novkursain Grand Prix, instead replaced by the St. Karl’s Barracks Grand Prix. The HFSR shall endure to ensure that the Novkursain Grand Prix does take place, or that a suitable replacement is made for it. Pole position was taken by Anaksandr Amador Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff, who had been having a poor run of form, coming off of two missed races and a pointless 11th at the Alban Grand Prix. Behind followed championship leader Tomasz Karoswald and Snail Slowuel Slimegio, with championship challenger Mikhaila Colborn and Carlos Snailz in third. Carlos Snailz was the better snail off the start, taking the lead ahead of Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff and Snail Slowuel Slimegio. However, it mattered little as an issue for Dima Kovachev and Shelly Duval, who had not tightened their shell properly, included in their immediate retirement from the race off of the start line, causing a safety snail. Off the safety snail restart, it was pole sitter Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff who managed to get off to a better start, eventually creating quite a gap to the snails behind, who were rather bunched up, though Carlos Snailz remained in second, and made it look likely that it would be a first S-Ladies one-two for the season. But it was not to be, because the streak of crashing had come for Carlos Snailz once more. Overspeeding around the oval track of St. Karl’s Barracks caused them to slam into a barrier, and another safety snail would come out. Even then, the second safety snail would do little in terms of diminishing Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff’s lead. Indeed, it would be the third safety snail, which came out after the crash of Robert Ludovar and Turboculosis (III) that finally allowed the snails behind to catch up to Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff. An incredible performance from Princess Nadya and Elizaveta Cargot (III), who managed to go side by side with Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff towards the end of the race, and right up to the finish line. However, Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff would not budge, and their dominant performance was converted to a dominant win. Elizaveta Cargot (III), however, could not endure to take second. Indeed, Snail Slowuel Slimegio would jump past, taking second once more. Ser Andrei Kortrevich and Shelldrei had a surprisingly good race, jumping into third. To make matters worse, even Princess Milena and Snailvan VIII managed to skip past Elizaveta Cargot (III), taking fourth. Only fifth could be mustered for Elizaveta Cargot (III), despite looking like they were on to challenge for the race win for some time. It was a slow day for Prince Joren and Exalted Slugismund, but he did take an uncontested sixth place. The fans awarded Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff with the Snail of the Day Award, for their dominant performance around the oval of St. Karl. As it stands, the Racers’ Championship Standings are as follows: 1st - Tomasz Karoswald and Snail Slowuel Slimegio - 95 points. 2nd - Princess Milena and Snailvan VIII - 82 points. 3rd - Mikhaila Colborn and Carlos Snailz - 56 points. 4th - Anaksandr Amador and Shellnon Slugaine de Snailstaff - 55 points. 5th - Prince Joren and Exalted Slugismund - 38 points. 6th - Princess Nadya and Elizaveta Cargot (III) - 32 points. 7th - Dima Kovachev and Shelly Duval - 31 points. 8th - Prince Aleksandr and S’Nail var Slimaki - 27 points. 9th - King Karl and Lightning McKoenas - 26 points. 10th - Robert Ludovar and Turboculosis (III) - 25 points. 11th - Sergei var Ruthern and Slimealicious - 25 points. 12th - Nóruiel and Slimelda the Swift - 19 points. 13th - Bishop Alaric and Escarsepsis - 18 points. 14th - Azerdel and Fluffy - 18 points. 15th - Andrei Kortrevich and Shelldrei - 16 points. 16th - Daisy and Snuddy - 15 points. 17th - Thorim and Drorg - 15 points. 18th - Kazimir Weiss and Breakneck - 14 points. 19th - Mieszko and the Cursed Creature - 12 points. 20th - Sosina Colborn and Goomy - 12 points. 21st - Sophia and Ikur Seregon - 12 points. 22nd - Isurus and Vallei - 10 points. 23rd - Princess Isabel and Swift Foot - 10 points. 24th - Vasilia Barrow and Madame Mucinda - 1 point. 25th - Alric var Ruthern and Herobrine - 0 points. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, Dear people of Haense, this is not a letter that I pen to you with the joys that I had hoped. Alas, it is one that I must write regardless. His Royal Majesty has fallen ill with an unknown, yet serious disease. He is in immediate need of treatment, and thus His Royal Majesty and an entourage consisting largely of his personal physicians has started enduring a trip to the lands of Ba’as, where they shall seek famed healers and physicians in the hopes of making a swift recovery. In the wake of these travels, the governance and administration of the Realm must continue while the King is incapacitated and away. It therefore falls upon me, as Lord Palatine, to take the mantle of Lord Regent of Hanseti-Ruska until such a time when His Royal Majesty has returned to Kastell Lesanov. We wish His Royal Majesty a swift recovery. I would have perished had I not persisted. 22. 559 HAESENI SNAILULA ONE CHAMPIONSHIP KAZAN GRAND PRIX RACE SUMMARY Issued by THE HAESENI FEDERATION OF SNAIL RACING Naf zwy 4th hag i Tov ag Yermey i 568 E.S. Our first venture beyond the comforts of the Crownlands for the 559 Snailula One Championship came today, as the grid travelled south to Kazan, where the House of Colborn resides. The 425 Snailula One Haeseni Racers’ Champion was Adrian Colborn and Snickelsen, while the Teams’ Championship was the joint Colborn-Vyronov venture of SNAAB Ultra Speed, with teammate Rudolf Vyronov and Snairlwind. It felt appropriate then, that our first vassal-hosted Grand Prix of the 599 Snailula One Championship be in the honour of the previous Champion. A bit of a sluggish qualifying session today, the exhaustion from the long season starting to show. Eight snails made appearances today (with Princess Nadya and Elizaveta Cargot missing qualifying), though it was Mikhaila Colborn and Carlos Snailz who would take pole position at their home Grand Prix. Behind them were Princess Milena and Snailvan VIII, followed by Robert Ludovar and his new snail, Hanzo. A moment of silence was held for the deceased Turboculosis, one-time race winner, who passed away following an accident at the Alban Grand Prix. With the snails released off the line, it was the two frontrunners Carlos Snailz and Snailvan VIII who battled for the lead, however an early mishap for Carlos Snailz, almost spinning out, caused many of the snails to have an early pitstop round. Notably, only Tomasz Karoswald and Snail Slowuel Slimegio, as well as Prince Joren and Exalted Slugismund avoided the pits. During the early parts of the race, the earth rumbled, and a great voice proclaimed that the home of House Colborn would be attacked and destroyed by some otherworldly force as soon as night fell. The HFSR eventually decided, in accordance with the wishes of the present racers, to continue the race. With Snail Slowuel Slimegio and Exalted Slugismund at the head of the pack, that race momentarily settled in with Snail Slowuel Slimegio in the lead, and Exalted Slugismund pursuing. Carlos Snailz pushed intently behind to make it a win on home soil for the Colborns. However, about the halfway point of the race, Carlos Snailz had been pushing too hard, spinning out and crashing into the barriers at high speed. With Carlos Snailz out of the race, the Safety Snail came out. The Safety Snail came out ahead of Snail Slowuel Slimegio, allowing some of the snails further into the grid, like Shelly Duval and Snailvan VIII, to catch up. Though as the Safety Snail was released, it looked like it was either going to be Snail Slowuel Slimegio or Shelly Duval who would take the win, while Snailvan VIII and Exalted Slugismund lurked behind them. Prince Aleksandr and S’Nail var Slimaki, who missed a couple of races in the middle of the season, was once more struggling to regain their form, and lingered around the back of the grid. Indeed, if Elizaveta Cargot had not been late, and started the race some ways back. While Snail Slowuel Slimegio and Shelly Duval battled intently for the lead, Hanzo had an accident involving a rock suddenly on track (the HFSR has yet to rule on the matter, as it was raised by the KTSR Kvaszian Turbo SR team, that the rock had been thrown by Ser Joakim Colborn). The Safety Snail once again came out. Snail Slowuel Slimegio and Shelly Duval both ducked into the pits once more, giving Snailvan VIII the on track lead. But as the Safety Snail released the snails to race once again, Snail Slowuel Slimegio and Shelly Duval quickly retook the lead, duelling as they headed towards the finish line. It seemed, however, that Snail Snowuel Slimegio had not been slimed up properly during the pit, and fell back behind Shelly Duval, who would take home their first ever win. A great performance for Dima Kovachev, who was recently adopted into the Scyfling culture. A home win, in our eyes! Snail Slowuel Slimegio would not take second. Indeed, Exalted Slugismund swooped past, taking home second place. Snail Slowuel Slimegio could only muster third place, a disappointing end to a promising race. Snailvan VIII would take home fourth, followed by teammate S’Nail var Slimaki in fifth. Despite being some ways back, Elizaveta Cargot would come in sixth. As soon as the race ended, the otherwordly forces, having waited patiently for the race to finish, immediately attacked. The fans awarded Shelly Duval with the Snail of the Day Award, for their excellent race track in bringing home a Scyfling win in Kazan!
