  1. "Well, I kicked their ass once. Hope I can kick it again." Samuel would think to himself upon seeing it.

  3. Samuel Starling, A Voice of Prosperity An Introduction: I am Samuel Starling. An immigrant who came to Haense nineteen years ago. I have lived in the city of Karosgrad, achieved fame with the BSK since my arrival, and became maer a session ago. I have already stated my personal accomplishments before, but now I am going to establish my accomplishments politically. I promised farm reform and did such, such as removing the poor quality potatos and replacing them with wheat, increasing production significantly and bringing in valuable wealth to the people of Karosgrad who use the farms to pay their bills through the markets. I also attempted to hire advisors, however none were willing- even when inquired due to their background as such- to lend their voice for a time. I felt satisfied with my conversations with the Court Chamberlain to expand upon events, and Karosgrad has seen higher merriment due to their efforts. I voted on critical bills and actions in Duma, especially during the family feud that occured during this session. I was active in making sure the office was not trampled upon by other offices, but also worked alongside those who were able to do what I could not. I also helped those who reached out to me fix any lost keys or rightful property. I will admit my administration was not the best, but I did attempt to achieve all of my promises and achieved the prosperity reforms I said I would. I would never lie to the people of Haense or lead them astray, and hope those who supported me last election are satisfied with my prior term and wish to see me win another. Problems I plan to solve through Duma: I reformed the farms as I promised, however I do wish to expand the farms even further for greater bounty by the end of my next session, if you'll have me. Another issue I have been accused of is lack of maer hosted events, which I will rectify this coming session if elected. Again, I did decide to let the Chamberlain and other officials handle such this prior session. I will attempt yet again to have citizen meetings, if the people are willing to give it another chance, and may hire advisors if any are willing. The final issue I have been accused of is transparency of my actions. While I assumed the results would give proper validation for my position, I see now that I have to be far more scholarly with my actions and mark every letter, every note, every conversation down so that when others act upon my words, it is known it was acted upon because of my words. On Her Ladyship Zoya vas Ruthern: Do not belittle my administration or prior maerships without giving the courtesy of dropping names and specifics at least. If you had wanted further change, you should've sent a letter offering to advise me on such matters. I cannot be everywhere at once. You also did not consider that I or any other maer before me simply was not public with many of the actions behind the scenes such as meeting with important figures and sending letters to those of prestige. I will keep this in mind next session to write down every action I take and stamp them to a board in the assembly hall, so thank you for inspiring me to do such. Starling's Promises: To reiterate my promises and solutions to the problems of Karosgrad. Further Farm Expansion and the Increase of Wheat Production. More Events and Prizes for the People of Karosgrad. Transparency of the Maer Office and another attempt at introduction of Regular Assemblies. Another attempt to hire Advisor(s) to help the Maer where he may not have the sight to see issues at first glance. The first of which going to Her Ladyship Zoya vas Ruthern. Together We Prosper. Vote Starling for Grand Maer. Thank you for reading.
  4. I feel like after two years a man can change plenty. Besides, if they haven't done anything wrong since their return, and you are so adamant on him being a horrible human being, then wait for him to screw up again and kick him out. Even IRL companies don't immediately fire employees who mess up when it comes to harassment, they just log it in their personnel file for eternity and tell them to never speak with the victim unless it's related to work. They rarely fire people unless it goes up to HR, which is dependent on the stance of the victim to how severe the case was. In other words, on a server as big as this, I doubt you'll even need to rp with the guy if he's that disgusting to you, and can avoid them. Or you can continue to bring it up to higher authority to keep him banned, but if the admin team unanimously accepted them back into the fold, I highly doubt whatever they did was beyond forgiveness. Otherwise... Well, we wouldn't be having this issue. Again, if you want justice, just wait for them to inevitably screw up again. Unless they truly have changed, which is a likely possibility considering the admin team's response. And if it is the latter, then why stomp on a man who isn't the same as before? Rehabilitation is punishment enough.

  6. Samuel Starling, A Voice of Prosperity An Introduction: I am Samuel Starling. An immigrant who came to Haense thirteen years ago. I have lived in the city of Karosgrad and ran for maer twice in the past two elections, achieving an admirable amount of votes. Since then, my views and philosophy have grown exponentially with Haeseni culture in mind. I have also made a name for myself in the tourney grounds, with many of my fans calling me The Rook when they see my presence. I have also participated in more battles than I can count over my thirteen-year-long tenure with the BSK, achieving the rank of Armsman for my service. I have fought just about every major battle in the war against Oren. I led cavalry at the first battle of Southbridge. I struck down Banjo. I stood with my brothers and sisters even in the face of death and defeat at the second battle of Southbridge. Of course there are many more things, but such can be asked in person. Problems I plan to solve through Duma: I have been living in this city for a while now and I have seen some issues that haven't been fixed. The first and foremost is one that still affects me the most, the farms. Eight years ago at Duma, the potatoes being harvested were brought under scrutiny for their lack of use and poor quality. I intend to reform our farms so that we are producing foods that are of far greater value. Most notably, wheat. Wheat is far more storage able than potatoes, thus I intend to expand Karosgrad wheat production to rival the manors of Oren. Another issue I have seen is the meagre amount of events in this city. Not enough melees to make use of the arena, not enough plays to make use of the theatre, not enough jousts to make use of the tourney grounds. If voted Grand Maer, I intend to fix this even in these times of war and bring prosperity to the city through these avenues of entertainment. I intend to work alongside the Court Chamberlain in order to bring these plans to fruition. A minor issue on the table still is not having keys to places one should have keys. Such as access to certain buildings, or even one’s mailbox. Thus, I shall make sure to help those who need assistance with their rightful belongings. I also wish to have the Maer post as transparent as possible with as much citizen contact as possible. I intend to hold meetings to make use of the assembly hall to connect with those who wish to see things done in this city that I cannot think of. Speaking of which, as Maer I intend to hire Advisor(s) to guide me in my post. Starling's Promises: To reiterate my promises and solutions to the problems of Karosgrad. Farm Reform and the Increase of Wheat Production. More Events and Prizes for the People of Karosgrad. Transparency of the Maer Office and introduction of Regular Assemblies. The hiring of Advisor(s) to help the Maer where he may not have the sight to see issues at first glance. Helping fix issues with property. Together We Prosper. Vote Starling for Grand Maer. 8. Samuel Starling, A Voice of Prosperity An Introduction: I am Samuel Starling. An immigrant who came to Haense seven years ago. I have lived in the city of Karosgrad and ran for maer six years ago, achieving an admirable amount of votes. Since then, my views and philosophy have grown exponentially with Haeseni culture in mind. I have also made a name for myself in the tourney grounds, with many of my fans calling me The Rook when they see my presence. I have also participated in four battles over my seven-year-long tenure with the BSK, achieving the rank of Armsman for my service. I fought at Southbridge and led a cavalry charge that crippled the enemy’s flank. I fought at Urquan twice to defend our dwarven allies from the Ferrymen and ISA, striking down Banjo himself at Stonetower. I then fought for this very city, helping route the Imperials back to their turf. Problems I plan to solve through Duma: I have been living in this city for a while now and I have seen some issues. The first and foremost is one that affects me the most, the farms. Two years ago at Duma, the potatoes being harvested were brought under scrutiny for their lack of use and poor quality. I intend to reform our farms so that we are producing foods that are of far greater value. Most notably, wheat. If voted Grand Maer, I intend to fix this even in these times of war and bring prosperity to the city through these avenues of entertainment. And, with the recent addition of Court Chamberlain, I intend to work alongside them in order to bring these plans to fruition. A minor issue on the table is the complaints recently of not having keys to places one should have keys. However, none of these issues are as controversial at this time as the Karenina Accord. This is my opinion on the matter. I support it, yet realistically I doubt enough supporters of the Accord can be elected to win a majority over the male hardliners in Duma. Besides, the Duma is only advisory to the King, who may simply take the position of the minority. Again, this minority would be such only by a small margin, if at all. Thus, I propose my own idea on how to make it fair, yet also agreeable for the conservatives in Duma. I call it Selective Inheritance. Under this, the titleholder or asset bearer, depending on the situation, will declare their heir apparent in their Will and leave it in such a document until their death, where the document shall be opened and read. In some instances, this would mean the heir apparent is privately known, but in most, it would still be public knowledge who is to inherit the titles before the title holder's death. Thus, the inheritance of titles and assets may go to anyone of relation, regardless of gender, if the will writer says so. If the titleholder wishes to keep it male primogeniture, then so be it. If not, they will be able to raise whomever to their position. In addition, this would eliminate issues of non relations. If a friend is listed in the Will, then they would inherit it rather than the State and continue on the previous owner’s legacy. Another thing to mention, is that this would only apply to future heirs. It is my opinion that current male heirs will stay the heirs no matter what is decided in Duma, whether it is my proposition or the Accord. This is to ensure stability during such transitionary times. However, if the title holder wishes to change now, then that shall be their decision to argue with their family. Selective Inheritance if Super Majority support for the Karenina Accord is not achieved. Stability for Established Heirs. Helping fix issues with property. Together We Prosper. Vote Starling for Grand Maer. Thank you for reading.
  9. Samuel Starling would be checking the bodies of the Ferrymen, sighing as he didn't see the corpse of Banjo. "I should have put a ******* dagger in his throat when I had the chance. But, I left the bastard for dead at stonetower... God works in mysterious ways, I suppose." He spat upon a corpse of the Ferrymen, his hands sore from swinging his warhammer so much from the top of a horse. "God... I need a drink of rum when I get back."
  10. Nothing Prepares The First Battle of Samuel Starling When Samuel Starling took to the arena or the jousts, he never felt so much adrenaline as he did standing in the siege camp outside Southbridge. Though he was skilled in tournament combat, a nagging voice on the side of his shoulder told him that the chaos of battle would be far less civilized. And it was right. As the trebuchets came to life and threw out their fireballs, Samuel and the levy horsemen assigned to him watched in wonder. That was until they saw similar fireballs hurled back at the camp. The men scattered and took cover behind whatever they could. Samuel, however, was frozen. The smell, the sounds, the grimness of the battlefield was something he had never experienced. He had no experience with raids, nor skirmishes... Nothing. And when he thought back to his Marshal's words in Savoy, the celebrations after the Basrid wedding... He knew that the Marshal was right. Nothing could prepare for such conflict. Samuel brought himself out of his stupor and glanced to the cavalry next to him. He raised his Warhammer high above his head as he yelled out, "Follow me, brothers! For our glory today shall be echoed forever!" And it was at that moment the cavalry began to ride out past the walls of the siege camp, to glance upon the damage of the trebuchets. They saw the massive holes left in the foundation, yet Samuel's eyes were glued to another prize. He gave out another yell, and his 1000 cavalrymen charged to meet the retreating 1000 Orennians. The first battle against the Orennians was a blood bath. At first contact, Samuel's cavalry utterly crippled the formation and formed a great wedge between the forces. Wounded and battered, the side closest to the Fort attempted to retreat back into it, while the other 500 were encircled and butchered by the lances and swords. Samuel himself killed tens of men, each blood-curdling THUNK of his Warhammer letting him know his aim was true. It was then that some Ferryman forces began to assist in the endeavor, picking off the wounded 500 as Samuel and his riders pursued. And, pressing them against the wall of the gate as they cried out to no one to let them in, Samuel and his men slaughtered the fellows. Samuel himself had only lost roughly 100 men in the attack, or so he believed from the quick guesstimate. And with the sight of his comrades swarming the crippled Fort, Samuel again saw another cowardly force of Orennians retreating into the hills nearby. Had it not been for the support of 2+ Ferryman divisions, the fight uphill would've been disastrous for Samuel and his men. But, the ever-lovely sound of arrows hitting steel and wood had terrorized the Orennians and their formation was barely coherent before the clash of horsemen overran them. But, these Orennians were dedicated spearmen, and as the cavalry charged and cut down hundreds, many of their own horses were left broken or dead. What occurred next was a battle alongside Ferryman infantry, as the Orennians desperately tried to fight and flee for their lives. Samuel himself was face to face with the leader of the Orennians, though he couldn't tell if the man was simply a Footman or a proper Knight. As a duel took place amidst the noise of the battlefield, Samuel's tournament prowess had prepared him for such a fight. His Warhammer swung true and clobbered the man's armor, causing his opponent difficulty breathing as his chest piece dented inwards. Samuel used the spike atop his Warhammer to finish the job, stabbing the man in his throat as he overextended from fatigue. And as many Orennians began to realize their leader had fallen, they surrendered and were taken captive by Samuel and the Ferrymen, dividing the prisoners equally. The rest of the battle was quite tame for Samuel and his men, their losses were minimal, and the only action they truly participated in for the rest of the siege was archery. Many Orennians fled to their hiding spots as they were hit by Samuel's men, and Samuel was surprised to see so few of them run for the hills and run for their lives. He didn't know whether to pity their stupidity or admire their stubbornness. Though. when the trebuchets finally broke into the inner depths of the castle, Samuel and his men were funneled in alongside other Coalition fighters to fight a pitched close-quarters battle. Luckily enough, by the time they had breached into the upper rooms, most of the other combatants had already slain many Orennians. Samuel did take some losses, but they weren't exactly grand. And then, the battle was finished. The siege was over, and as his men cheered Samuel went to the forest nearby to kneel and pray. He gave thanks and kissed the ground, giving praise to GOD that he was alive. But the battle had changed the man. No longer was he using dulled weapons, or yielding before death... He had now killed people. Ended lives, and commanded the deaths of others. He glanced to his fellows marching to the nearby Tavern, celebrating their glorious victory, and went off to join them. He didn't drink much that day though, and after some time decided to go elsewhere to clear his mind of the horrors he had seen. For Nothing Prepares a man for battle except battle itself.
  11. "Your Highness, Even though I may be busy with the duties of a BSK Oathedman, I wish to dedicate what little spare time I have to finding your daughter. I volunteer to join whichever group needs me most. Signed, Samuel Starling"
  12. Character Name: Samuel Starling Age: 21 Residence: Graiswald Road III Position (Alderman or Maer): Maer Introduction: Greetings my fellow Haeseni, my name is Samuel Starling. I am a newcomer to these lands and while I have not been here long, I have fallen in love with Haense and the city of Karosgrad. I seek to join the Duma because I wish to participate in the city's politics and work to solve any issues in a tactile manner. My experience so far has been in the Brotherhood of Saint Karl, which I have learned a great deal from in my short amount of time in. Problems you plan to solve through Duma: One thing that I have noticed in my time is the lack of martial events, more specifically, tournaments. I wish to see archery competitions, melees, and even jousts brought into the Kingdom to bolster our economy and bring entertainment to the realm. Another issue I have seen is the poor quality of some of our farmland, and due to such our crops production has not been as efficient. Promises: I promise to host tournaments and organize the usual events that my predecessors have done in the past. I also intend to improve our agriculture around the city and keep our farms well maintained. I also promise to host regular meetings with the cityfolk to judge their opinions, as with many minds thinking a lot of issues can be brought to the table. Closing remarks: Thus, I close with a call to action for my fellow city residents. If you wish to have your voice heard and entertainment to be spread across Karosgrad, then vote for me! Samuel Starling for Grand Maer!
