The Superiority of Ecclesiastical Peacemaking In Dedication to St. Adrian of Leuvarden, Patron of Statesmen, Lawyers and Politics As war is narrowly avoided time and time again, reflection ought to be given to the Holy Mother Church’s actions in preventing armed conflict, and indeed the promulgation of peace. Titularly, it is the official decrees and ambassadorial efforts of the Curia and High Pontiff that have carefully navigated the tense geopolitical nature of our time; but we mustn't forget it is the common preacher, even the laymen whose words of Unity, Peace, and Fraternity that inspired within the subjects of every realm, the necessary spirit and compassion to allow for peace talks to be had in the first place. This thesis will postulate that it is not only good; but also obligatory for every cleric, be they petty or grand of the Holy Mother Church, in general, to promote peace between the canonist realms. Furthermore, this thesis also argues that clergymen and the H.M.C have a unique capability to act as inter-nation ambassadors and peacemakers, superior to political appointees of national governments in most regards. SECTION I: INTRA-CANON COMMUNICATION Communication between Canonist nations is natural, common, and bolstered by their shared faith. This commonality causes a shared basis, and mutual understanding of Goodness, Evilness, and Truth from which disputes can be resolved. Though national ambassadors can indeed rely upon this fact in their negotiating capacities, Agents of GOD and the H.M.C can utilize this reality to a greater degree. To borrow from the account-keeping of merchants, we may consider the loyalties and associations of national and ecclesiastical ambassadors as follows. Let us briefly define the types of ambassadors I will discuss; A national canonist ambassador is an agent of a nation whose faith is canonism. An ecclesiastical ambassador is an Agent of the Holy Mother Church of the True Canon. The faith of a national canonist ambassador might be considered an asset in negotiating peace, and treaties betwixt canonist nations. However, their national loyalty might be considered a liability in regard to negotiations. This is because, while loyalty is not inherently a liability, loyalties create inherent biases against even fellow canonist humans. These biases assure a national or unilateral good is motivation discussion, rather than the common good desired by GOD. Thusly though the national canonist ambassador benefits from the shared faith and truths of the canon with other canonist nations, they are bound to their national loyalties which detract from the ultimate goal of humanity's continued peace, growth, and ideal unification under GODAN. Their one loyalty, loyalty to GODAN and humanity, is an asset like that of the national canonist ambassador, yet they possess no national loyalty liability to detract from their goals. They can negotiate in the shared interest of all parties, without having ulterior motives that service the singular goals of any involved nation. Their sole interest, their sole asset, is their total and undivided desire for the common good of GOD. Indeed, whereas the national canonist ambassador may have some appreciation for the common good of GOD; the Ecclesiastical ambassador has only care for the common good of the LORD. It is thusly the division of goals, as is the division of man, that ultimately leads to unjust, unholy, and unconscionable war. For there can be no common good when those who might be sent to achieve, care even in part for the individual good. SECTION II: CANONIST-TO-NONCANONIST NATIONS In situations where negotiations must occur between a canonist and a non-canonist nation, ecclesiastical ambassadors are still superior to national ambassadors. This is because they negotiate not with the singular might of a divided humanity, but the combined powers of the entire canondom against a foreign, strange state. This can be seen for instance through the recent formation of the Holy League; although indeed a military organization of righteous holiness, it is acting as an ecclesiastical negotiator through the righteous might of the entire canon. However, this may have been accomplished by mere national ambassadors, the united front presented BY the church as representatives of not merely humanity, or a singular principality. Still, the entire Canondom proved to be a more powerful position from which to negotiate from. Such a regency would simply not work under one of the canonist nations, who naturally had already or would be forced to take a position in the conflict. The neutrality of the Church, an entity with the shared interest of EVERY canon nation rather than a singular canon polity, ensured that the COMMON good was promoted rather than a national good. Though this has no bearing of political weight, I wish to express my heartfelt sympathies for the righteous of Aaun who suffered for the mistakes of their fear-mongering, heretical brethren who brought his HOLY WRATH down upon their kingdom. May their righteousness balance the scales of virtue back towards the light. SECTION IV: WHEN WAR IS INEVITABLE Considering the pre established concepts; particularly that an ecclesiastical ambassador shall always strive for the common good, whereas the national canonist ambassador will always strive in part for the national good; we must consider that negotiations undertaken will always result in the following scenarios: A. Both parties, having been shown the natural path of the common good, acquiesce to the avoidance of armed conflict and come to a Holy and Just resolution. B. One party is willing to meet terms, and thus is in the holy righteousness of god; however, the other party remains belligerent and pursues conflict. This, therefore, is admonishable and a clear picture has been drawn, where the agreeable party has remained virtuous and the aggressor hath not; thus this war may be considered HOLY; as is defense of the canondom on any occasion. C. Neither party sees the LIGHT of God's common good, and thus both parties must be admonished and the other canonist nations are thereby obligated to intervene and prevent the war from occurring, if necessary by military might. Regardless of the outcome, a clear definitive understanding of whose belligerence is unwarranted and whose actions are unjustifiable under GOD is achieved through Church intervention. This cannot be achieved simply by national canonist ambassadors. In summation; for matters of such grave importance as war, the church, owing to its inevitable superiority and perhaps supremacy in negotiation prowess and advantage, MUST intervene lest we sin slothfulness ourselves, and allow laze and apathy to spark UNHOLY war.
