A Medic's Observations

Sariant Medic Edric Altraza sits before a chest in the kitchen of Stonehollow. He lets out a ragged sigh, seeming stumped by what is inside the chest. Whatever it may be inside the chest appears to be alive, every once in a while one could catch a 'clunk' come from the wooden sides of the chest, as if something had thrown itself at it. The Medic can remember just days ago when he obtained this strange piece for observation.

It was just around dinner time for the Sariants and Edric was making his way for the kitchen to check why it had not been served yet when he saw one of the Plebeians, Tilru'Vuln, trying to stomp on some sort of rat looking creature. "There is a rat in your kitchen, Titania!" He shouted with a tinge of amusement in his voice as the skittering creature went by him, the Plebeian proceeding to chase it through into the halls. Edric wondered if he should help but shrugged it off after a moment, if the Pleb could manage to dispatch a person then surely he can manage a rat.

The tables were finally being set, and though Tilru had not returned to them yet Edric highly doubted there was some sort of problem with a gray little rat. That was until the Plebeian cried out from down the hall. Now on alert Edric quickly moved from the dinning hall into the halls of the keep. He expected to see a scene of Plebeian stabbed by some sort of Elven assassin. But no, that was not it. What did he walk in to see? Some sort of insect looking to be made of stone hanging from Tilru's hand.

Some time later after many attempts to remove the beast... ranging from intuitive ideas thought up from 'outside the box' to primitive, barbaric techniques such as smashing the persistent parasite against a stone brick wall, the poor Plebeian fell down unconscious looking a lot lighter than he was suppose to. Surely it was not a good situation but at least his patient was not flailing about now and he could work. After just a few short minutes Edric managed to free the Pleb from the nightmarish fiend which seemed to have actually been leeching off his blood. He sent Tilru to rest while the he dumped the "Atheran Blood Ragon", as it's original victim would later come to call it, inside the chest that acts as its cage now.

Having now recalled the story and all of his observations he writes to the people of Athera on his findings. This is found posted around the Cloud Temple.

"Recently an unknown creature was found inside the walls of Stonehollow and quickly apprehended and contained. A handful of useful observations have been made and I would like to share them with you now."

  • Tough and Durable- It can take a pounding and still will not only remain attached to its victim but will be unscathed by the attack.
  • Heat and Cold Resistant- The parasite will continue feeding even if dipped in boiling water fit to cook your meals in or brought into an ice cold freezer.
  • Stone Fur- Its fur forms patterns and is colored to make it look as if it were made of stone, perhaps to camouflage itself?
  • Taps into the Victim's Body- The creature will suck the blood from the body through a small tube-like appendage which it presses into the subject.
  • The Weak Spot- Right under the pincer, which it uses to hold itself onto the victim, is a small indent in the skin that, when pressed and held, will force the creature to release its grip and withdraw from the body.

"I invite any whom may find interest in this beast and can prove to be competent enough to conduct research to come join me in Hanseti to observe it and perhaps find out more than the little that is already known about. Contact me and we can set up a time for you to make the trek over."

((If you want to do some roleplay with the 'Atheran Blood Ragon' you should post here and then we can talk with Chikaea about some time that a roleplay session can be set up. I don't do a lot of posts like this so please tell me what you thought of it too and maybe what I could improve, just please be nice... please D:

Oh and thanks for reading!))
