Snowy Fields: Forever Gone

 Share

Alek had been in Aliston for a day - he was becoming accustomed to the Lightning and the smell of scorched flesh coming from the near-by Snowy Fields. But this was different. A flash of light so bright his eyes still burned for hours after it had happened. He looked up. Strange. Even from the heart of Aliston, the huge black keep in the center of Snowy Fields, erected by its undead masters was no longer visible...

Even at noon it towered over everything in the area, visible for miles on end. But it had vanished - and the smell of sulphur was stronger then ever. He climbed onto the walls. He could no longer see Snowy Fields walls either. Had they finally crumbled...? Unlikely.

He pulled hard on the gate winch and made his way outside... He surveyed the landscape. No giant black keep. No walls. No houses. No shops. Just a huge smoking crater where the city once lie with new fissures opening up and spilling out lava every few seconds.

'The city... is gone...'

Alek fell to his knees as another man joined him. Snowy Fields was no more.

*Sighs* I remember when I was the Captain there, it was a beautiful place until the Undead corrupted it and turned it into there base. Hopefully we have taught the Undead that you don't mess with Oren as us Humans are the most resilient race in Aegis. Snowy Fields is gone because while we were attacking it earlier Iblees sucked Snowy Fields back into the Nether because the Undead were losing and he didn't want us to capture Snowy Fields. We should consider this as victory not as defeat.

Oh that place? I spent the night there, strangely no one was home, it was odd.(( OOC Wise I told everyone this would happen, that they let us take Snowy and are probably regrouping to attack Laurelin or Al Khazar, I was half right, lets hope the other half isn't right.))

Is this true? *slowly shakes his head in sadness*

Snowy Fields was the first place in Aegis I could call my home, and me and my friend, Zerragon, lay every brick and plank and stone with our own hands. It felt like it took a lifetime erecting those walls, and if it is gone, I feel like I've lost a part of my soul.

It may sound weird, but it was better when it were in ruins, even though Undead controlled it. At least some remnants of it were still there!

I will erect a shrine to Snowy Fields, and the heroes that helped defend it while it still was in the hands of the living. I have also chronicled it's history, in a series of books in three parts, which will be available in the library of our new settlement in the future. If I have permission to use the tale of Alek in the fourth and last book in The History of Snowy Fields, I will be grateful.

(( Boooo ! Snowy Fields should have been left in some good looking (protected) ruins

to leave its mark and history on Aegis, for new players to visit and read up on what happened, at least all our work at building it wouldnt feel like a complete waste of time that way.....))

(( Hmm, an anonymous contributor edited the wiki-entry of SF and wrote "It was removed from the Undead's grasp by the troops of Alastion on the 24th of August, 2011".

And now it has been "deleted" from the server? I don't understand this. What happened? ))

((It was completely removed then a rollback brought everything back and then the second time they only removed the tower and put a crater where it used to be))

Good to hear that the ruins is still there, even though my tower is gone. And who has control of the ruins now, Alstion?
