Al'darad Awakens

The Forests of Adrallan had been silent. Not a bird chirped nor a squirrel chattered as the war against the Undead raged in the North, and for a while, no danger befell Dril'indin, the oldest Pine Tree in existence. 

 

Then they came, a band of Wood Elves who sought only to grow an abode for themselves: the Spirit Tree of the Osage Clan. As they planted their sapling, and watched it grow tall and strong, the sunlight that Dril'indin desperately needed was blocked out.

 

In fear, the great Elder Tree reached out to the Druids, asking for their aid. After months of arguing and conflict, the Druids finally pooled their magic and nurtured the Osage Tree back into a sapling, freeing Dril'indin from the shadow it had lived under for so long.

 

 

But as it turned out, there were more dangers pressing against the Elder Tree's children. For dwarves, bandits, smugglers, they all wanted land and resources from Adrallan. Fortresses were built, trees felled and the land scarred; Dril'indin could stand it no longer.

 

Were one to venture to the southern pine forests, and explore the valley where Dril'indin resides, they would have noticed a very strange tree, sprouting beneath the canopies. It's form shaped like a figure, an almost tree-man of wood and pine needles, moss and branches.

 

Over time this figure grew, taller and taller, mightier and mightier, before a loud rumble emanated from within it's body. It's eyes, desaturated golden eyes, opened to view it's new home.

 

 

 

The Ent knew that it had a duty, a duty to defend all the pine forests of Athera, for it was the child of Dril'indin, and its brothers and sisters were suffering.

 

With a final bellow, every Pine, Fir and Spruce tree in the land seemed to rumble and sway in response, hearing the call of their new protector.

 

 

 

Al'Darad had awoken.
