As the light of dawn breaks over the grand peaks of the Dwarven Mountains the gates of Kal’Karaad lurch open like the maw of a terrible beast. Dwarves set about their daily duties, mining, smithing, training, and of course drinking. As the day progresses a congregation of dwarves gather in the center of the city, chating, boasting, yelling, and laughing with one and other. From the forge a single dwarf emerges, carrying with him an object wrapped in cloth. Heads turn towards him as he stops before them, standing on even grounds with all.

“Greetings, my fellow dwed. Many of you know me, perhaps as a friend, perhaps a past Grand King, or a Hero of the Brathmordakin, and perhaps even a rival. However….. I do not claim to be greater than any of you, for it is not my right to be. I am only myself, Dizzy Irongrinder. As you all know I have been nominated once again for the crown of this Grand kingdom. I come here to speak today, not as a candidate, not as a previous king, and not as anything but a dwed as all of you are.”

He pauses briefly, gazing across the faces of the gathered dwarves

“I come not in hopes of swaying minds in favour of myself, but rather to appeal to you, my kinsmen. Vote not for the one with the silver tongue and biggest promises, but for the one who will keep true in heart the value of each and every dwed, and who will preserve Yemekars balance.”

A slight smile creases his face as a glimmer of light shines from his eye

“We are a race who has seen many things. The rise and fall of both kings and monsters, gods and empires. We are a race who, throughout everything, endures. We are a proud and noble race, who must keep the ideal of peace and prosperity for all living things alive. We need not prisoners and slaves, we have no need. We need not conquest of kingdoms and mountains of riches, we have our own of each. For what end do we an empire? For what end do we need more death and bloodshed?”

He gazes out into the crowd, briefly locking eyes with many dwarves before speaking once more

“What we need… is courage. The courage to be compassionate. The courage to be understanding. We as dwarves must be committed to Yemekars balance… something not achieved with arms and armor, but with the idea that all things can live in harmony. We must be a light amongst the dark, the bulwark of Athera against those who wish harm upon others.”

He turns and points towards the throne room

“A king is only a king, if he serves the people. So I urge the people to abandon the notions of conquest and expansion, and instead take up that of a brighter land… for all of us.”

Looking through the crowd he spots each of the other candidates in turn, nodding to them

“I do not claim to be the one to lead our people to be this force of righteousness. No, that is for the Brathmordakin to decide. I wish not even for the crown, but only for my words now to be heard and understood. I have nothing but respect for each of the candidates, and can wish them nothing but good luck.”

Unraveling the cloth covered object in which he carries he grips it tightly, thrusting it towards the heavens. A glimmering shine reflects of the surface of an ornate warhammer, so fine as to be called flawless

“Amoruk Eron Ok Khazadmar.”

“Heart of the Dwarves”

“A symbol for our next Grand King. A symbol to signify the trust of our people. May Yemekar guide it to worthy hands”

Giving a slight bow he leaves the congregation of dwarves to discuss amongst themselves
