To all the subjects of Orenia, the peerage, the courtiers, the knights, and the holy men,

Word has reached me of the fall of King Guy.  As de Sola was bound to de Bar by blood through the King, I extend my sympathies and sorrows to the man that was one of my only friends.  At the present I stay in the distant court of Horen in Aeldin on dynastic business, the stuff of a special nature.  In my place I named Otho de Capua, who shall be henceforth regarded as my true son legitimized, as Regent of Istria and de Sola.  Further, my son by my erstwhile wife Lucienne de Noir, Vanderus, has made his return from his insubordination to my commands and sworn to see Istria refortified, and with Otho the two half-brothers shall occupy my say in the matters of state which are to come.

I firstly instructed my son Vanderus to offer de Sola's service to the new regent, the Prince Gereon, for the sake of our blood ties.  I am told, with shock, that Vanderus was sharply rejected by this new regent.

Thusly, if we de Sola are to be rejected in service by one man, then we shall find another.

The Duchy of Istria henceforth proclaims its electoral vote for John Frederick Horen, my cousin through my sister Clara de Sola, to be Imperator of Oren and Lord of Mankind til the end of time.  We will recognize no human monarch but such.  We will see to the completion of our fortress, and we will support the birth of the new Horenic era and we will fight by land and sea to see the Empire returned to its former extent.  To defend the electoral vote bestowed upon me by both Olivier the Good and Guy de Bar, I authorize the formation of an Army of Istria with its regiments to be identified by the old imperial moniker of Legions.  I command my son Vanderus to raise Legio XIII Istria and see to its immediate mobilization.

However, I wish to see the matter of the election carried out peacefully, as though we de Sola do not bend the knee to common men even masked with noble blood, we are not barbarian savages, and we will endeavor to ensure this transfer of power go as the law commands, for I am the law.

May my son Vanderus be considered the executor of my will in my absence.

Signed and confirmed,

Duke Titus de Sola
