His mother died during childbirth and his father was often away mining. He had to fend for himself during this time and it made him very self reliant. When he was eighteen he moved out of his parents home and moved into a cave underground. He dug a huge mine, and after years of work he had created a mine big enough to support all of Kal'Urguan. When he was twenty-six he was doing his daily work in the mine when it suddenly all went dark. His torches had all burned out simultaneously. He saw a silloutte of a tall man, a flash of light, then nothing. He woke up two years later under a tree, broken, beaten and scarred. He travelled back to his mine, to find it destroyed and lava lining the walls.
