To Move Toward Resolution and Justice

Cherished mali’thill,

 

To ensure the continued prosperity and security of our Silver State, I have labored these past elven days to mediate the conflicts brought about by the recent trials and the killing of the late Maheral Azorella Elibar’acal. While more deliberation will be required to account for all the concerns of the people in these trying times, I feel it is necessary to make some of these recent decisions known, in the hopes that it will help to ease the spirits of those nervous in the present climate.

 

Firstly, following the resignation of the former Sohaer Sulraell Visaj, I intend to name the Okarir’tir Alaion Miravaris in his place. A neutral figure throughout the recent strife and with the respect of many in the city for his years of service to the Sillumiran, it is my hope that together he and I can establish a stable and functioning order as servants of the maehr’sae hiylun’ehya. Alaion and I shall carefully consider the composition of the heial’thilln that is to serve in the coming years, and intend to maintain a balance of interests in filling the recently vacated seats.

 

In resolution of the legal debate which played a part in opening this rift, the Maheral will retain the right to dismiss a Sohaer who is deemed too compromised or culturally inept to fulfill the duties of their office. This is a power only to be exercised with the utmost restraint in the case of a Sohaer demonstrating a flagrant disregard for the protection of Larihei’s legacy. It shall also be re-introduced into the legal code that the Maheral can be compelled to resign should a majority of the malauriran discover the sitting Maheral to be of unclean blood, to have committed an act of obvious impurity, or to be rendered mentally unfit by senility or injury.

 

Finally, a thorough investigation of recent events will be necessary to establish a sense of justice for all those involved. To that end, and recognizing the shortcomings of the existing legal system, the heial’malauriran, former holders of the title of Maheral, shall be asked to convene to hear the testimony of those witness to the assassination of Maheral Azorella and to the chaos which followed. Beforehand, all parties are asked to prepare a list of those whose culpability they wish to have considered before the malauriran. The goal of this investigation will be to establish as complete a narrative of events as possible under the given circumstances and to allow for those with serious allegations against them to face whatever justice the malauriran deem necessary to restore the peace. A new permanent trial system will be introduced at the conclusion of these investigations.

 

May we all seek a swift return to the pursuit of the maehr’sae hiylun’ehya.
