tree dwarves living in mushrooms? and how would you make a larger house? no i dont think that should happen.while red giant mushrooms would make for easy housing, theres virtually no way to expand them, and you may as well be called mushroom dwarves.although that makes more sense than tree dwarf in some sense, since mushrooms grow in caves.idk,i like tree dwarves, but they kinda dont fit very well.maybe a change to mushroom dwarves if you really wanted to go that path

but i digress, for the tree dwarves this looks almost perfect, maybe you should add an attic so they can be higher up,and more comfortable? in any case very nice work +1

(edit:on mushrooms, you know what they would be good for? Slums. grab 15 red mushrooms and bonemeal and you could make cheap housing.maybe free housing. then we could help stop all the homelessness in LOtC.any race could do it too, create a seperate district, and just add bonemeal houses could be priced at maybe the price of the mushroom, bonemeal, and a bed combined? idk what that is,but hopefully its cheaper than the houses for sale now at like 7000 minas.to a newbie that seems unreachable.but say 400? theyd risk going out to kill mobs for that.)

thought since everyone else was making houses,id make a few myself.here was one i was working on that i liked. the theme was to try and mix wood and rock to try to make it a tree-ish house, but to make it as dwarven as possible

so without further ado,the Eastern Round Birch,as renovated by Tree Dwarves!

those hatches are supposed to make a type of awning for the door.and the hatches on the ground are actually covering some musrooms for decoration :)

up the stairs, room with a veiw!

yes that is a stairway that leads to a ladder.lol i didnt want full stairs cause it left a huge hole in the floor.i liked how that one branch hung in veiw from the balcony,it gives the feeling of being in a tree.

and finally, down the hatch, and a veiw of the basement!

the wood in the walls and ceiling is supposed to be roots, further showing the marriage of wood and rock here.(edit:you can just barely see the wall of forges in the corner there)

i went with a couple things in mind, firstly that elves use torches and only torches for lighting.dwarves would use both glowstone and torches right? (idk for sure but im assuming) so i used glowstone to make it seem more dwarf-y.there is rock intergrated with the tree to make it seem a little more dwarf-like as well.with stone brick,i found the cracked mossy version looked best,i added the vines to make it seem somewhat droopy,as if the occupant wasnt as light as an elf (dwarves are less light on there feet,no?) i tried to use iron bars more than glass panes for windows because it seems more forge-related,and thus more dwarfy.and naturally the basement is filled with forges as is,but the basement could also be used for a garden,or farming,or storage,or a living room/guest room or whatever else.(Edit:i couldnt post the picture because i had too many, but it was just a wall covered in forges, haha).i also used the white wood, because you rarely see it in the elven cities, and therefore looks less elven.

i know what your thinking: it looks fine above ground, but how does it fit in a cave!

well, fine actually, you just cut off the top and the leaves,Add more vines the the exterior, and add some wood "roots" to the ceiling of the cave as if the tree were growing through :D (height may need adjusting, basement may need adjusting/removing)

so let me know what you think :)

edit:i have a schematic,if anyone would like to see it first hand.how could i put a schematic up here? it wouldnt let me attach the file.

Never will we have free housing again, or at least in the foreseeable future, not worth the hassle of free regioning and protected items or no protected region and a free for all of users getting banned for stealing

I wasn't sayin' it should be free, I'm sure the tree dwarves would pay to have a home that suits them. If they can't pay, kick 'em to the caverns!

okay that makes sense, but at the very least, slums made from mushroom homes would be a considerable solution to the VAST homelessness problem.they could be made easily and sold cheaply.then players can get there items protected without paying 23,000 minas((hyperbole))

edit:and well said petyr

Lad if ye want a cheap home all ye 'ave to pay is 300 minas. We 'ave those fer dwarfs just entering the kingdom to help them out. With protection!

thats quite well and good for you dwarves, but we elves can nary find a dwelling for less that 7000 minas

Maybe the new slums (if we have them) could not be regioned/protected?

((this somewhat defeats the purpose.then there would be greifing and stealing))
