bungo 3965 Share Posted September 29, 2011 As long as you limit it to one person per home it should be alright haha Even with that, the Stems of the Mushrooms will still not hold all of that up.
Durzio 29 Author Share Posted September 29, 2011 Even with that, the Stems of the Mushrooms will still not hold all of that up. Keep in mind how light footed we elves are ((plus it is a giant mushroom. Whose to say they are the same as a regular mushroom? ))
Solan (Elite117) 82 Share Posted September 30, 2011 You all underestimate the structural integrity of a mushroom. Trust me as a druid, I have spend countless hours around mushrooms and I can tell you for a fact, that this design could indeed work.
Petyr 485 Share Posted September 30, 2011 Good point Apollan, but it might be safer and cheaper to build the same general design of trees. As well, we don't want anyone getting a case of "Fungi Down Under".
Solan (Elite117) 82 Share Posted September 30, 2011 I disagree with the cheaper part. All you need is a mushroom and bonemeal to make a giant mushroom where as a tree requires substantially more resources in the form of logs.

Also, Mushrooms are quite hard to repair.

((you do have a point with the repairing, ill give you that, but trees need to be partially cut down, floors and walls laid out,etc etc, with this, grow it,put 5 logs in the bottom and your done.lol))
mr.derp 2 Share Posted October 5, 2011 Actually the orcs build the slum houses in the walls, so yeah...
Yuln 265 Share Posted October 6, 2011 I realy Like the Idea of cheap houses, but realy... Mushrooms? I mean it would look funny but it is not realy a building style. I would prefer Little tree-houses for the elves and whatever they want for humans, dwarves and orcs.
Gobb'Mar 67 Share Posted October 8, 2011 Mushrooms may not be good for kingdoms such as oren, but the materials could be switched out, such as wool instead of the mushroom for oren, or stone instead of mushrooms for dwarves. Orcs... sand? Then again, orcs wouldn't be too into giving stuff away for cheap to some random newcomer. Us Orcs das give free slum house to all new bruddas who be join us from da cloud temple, why you think we not? Me not like stereotypes. ((I really like the idea, cheap, easy to make, easily destroyed if needs be. I don't see why you Elves could make these, they would be cheaper to make than treehouses, and it also gives a bit of variety to the brown and green city. I don't see any other race living in them though, other than Forest Dwarf. It wouldn't feel right for a Cave dwarf to be living in nature, when he smashes away at it's foundations for his own riches.))
