The family of Pasciak constitutes the youngest of the Vistulian clans, founded in the now, and not in the ancient past, by Gabriel Pasciak, after having been granted the privilege of doing so by the High Elder, Casimir Vilchyc. They are a dutiful family, always striving to create for themselves the history that others take for granted.

 

Distinct from most families, though, is their belief that stands paramount, first and foremost, before all others.

 

“Bound by merit, not blood” 

 

That is to say, the members of Clan Pasciak are not fathers and sons, nor mothers and daughters – they are orators, scribes, and artists, tested and found capable in their respective crafts. They are the skilled and loyal few chosen by the Clan Elder to be welcomed into the family, that they might turn their talents to the betterment of The Greater Clandom.

HISTORY

 

• S.A 87. Gabriel Lesnik begins writing texts for the Clandom of Vistulia, securing a position as scribe.

• S.A 89. The title of Tvorca is granted to Gabriel Lesnik in recognition of his having overseen plans to redesign the Clandom.

• S.A 93. For his continued efforts, the Tvorca is granted the right to his own renowned clan, forming the clan of Pasciak and shedding his birthname. Alfie Pasciak becomes the first clan member under him.

• S.A 94. With the shifting of Vistulia to a Greater Clandom, Clan Pasciak becomes the foremost clan of the Clandom of Pasnia, of which Gabriel Pasciak is the Clan Elder. The laws and trials of Clan Pasciak are put to paper and publicized.

• S.A 96. A terrible blight sweeps over Vistulia, rotting the city down to its very foundation and proliferating the city with monstrous creatures that slay Casimir Vilchyc -- then High Elder of Vistulia. With his death, Gabriel Pasciak becomes High Elder.

• S.A 98 As High Elder, Gabriel Pasciak instates his charge, Alfie Pasciak, as the Law Keeper of the Greater Clandom.

CULTURE & TRADITIONS

 

Those of the Pasciak Clan are just as culturally varied as the Freemen of Vistulia. There is no shared heritage among members, and what they do have in common stems from the great seriousness and devotion to their duties that is expected of those that take up their mantle.  This makes it easy to perceive them as being unnecessarily grave or humorless, but they are nothing if not cordial. One would do well to not confuse their ruminative natures for a lack of hospitality, for they hold themselves to the same standards of friendliness and courtesy that the Freemen do, albeit in a more reserved sort of way.

 

This reservation is more obvious when one compares them to their fellows of the Greater Clandom. While most Vistulians greet one another with the more intimate forearm shake, those of Pasciak would generally prefer – and be more comfortable giving – a more traditional handshake, considering it to be more proper. Similarly, most of them would abstain from the normally thick and wild facial hair of the other Freemen, preferring to keep it closer and more well-kept, if at all.

 

They carry themselves proudly, but without flagrant pretentiousness – confidently, but not with hot-headed arrogance. They are outspoken, well-spoken, and lend their aid to their fellows in whatever ways they can. It is not in their nature to be as powerful as the warriors of Clan Kos, nor as storied and adventurous as the Cingedoz – but they provide for the Clandom the carefully-articulated written word, the meticulous architectural blueprint, and the very voice that carries the news, the warnings, and the culture of The Greater Clandom of Vistulia far and wide.

 

To that end, they are served by the pigeons of Pasciak – A humble stock, primarily grey in coloration, though not selectively bred for their plumage, so some variance in patterning is not uncommon. The flock typically resides near the clanhall, absently cooing and awaiting payment (read: food) for their services. Their relationship with the family is more business then affection, thus, doting over the creatures is far from the norm. Missives are typically writ in a very fine size, so as to fit onto a small parchment roll that is affixed around the leg of the bird – but it is not unheard of for the occasional missive to be ferried by a harnessed pigeon with a greater capacity for transportation.

 

Their coat of arms (a hold-over from their Elder’s Pasnian heritage) features a two-toned grey field split by a black bend, emblazoned in the center by a black roundel, upon which perches light grey or silvered pigeon of Pasciak  – the family beast.

TRIALS

[!] The following information had been discreetly tacked to a number of noticeboards throughout Almaris. A grey pigeon was stamped in the corner.

 

Prospective members of Clan Pasciak are expected to have completed at least one trial in one of the following areas of expertise – in addition to already having obtained the status of Freeman by fulfilling the terms of the challenge defined by the reigning High Elder. One is permitted to select their specialty and thus which trial they should complete, but the specifics of the trial are left up to the discretion of the current Clan Elder, further tailoring the task to the aptitude of the applicant.

 

⥼Trial of Prose⥽

 

A test of one’s ability to articulate themselves, whether through text or oration. One must author (and provide) a suitably well-written text covering a subject of the Clan Elder’s choice, as befits his or her interests and strengths. Alternatively, if they desire, the entrant  may author a text from which to read from, proving the persuasiveness of their speaking manner.

 

⥼Trial of Engineering⥽

 

A test of one’s aptitude in regards to architecture and design. Those entrants seeking to lend their talents to the fortification of Vistulia must prove their engineering prowess by submitting for approval at least one architectural draft that illustrates and describes a structure of the Clan Elder’s choice.

A test of one’s artistic talents that do not fall under the confines of the other two trials. The Trial of Artistry is an open-ended challenge to the artisans of the realm – thus, its terms are flexible and must needs be discussed, in detail, with the Pasciak Clan Elder himself in order to be arranged.

We’re primarily a low-stress, low-free-time clan centered around concocting forums posts, authoring in-game books, and building stuff for our current city of residence, along with a slew of whatever other miscellaneous background administrative work is asked of us. Tonally, we’re not aiming for slice-of-life roleplay so much as we are being dutiful public servants that adhere to and respect the cultures of those around us.

 

Activity is EST-centric, and more accommodating of the work/study schedule for that timezone. :]
