Bad_Skeelz's Application

I revised and expanded the personality and especially the biography sections, per Anore's request. My denial wasn't completely unexpected; I'd come to see that these sections were indeed lacking. Really though it was for the best, and I thank Anore for it as now I have a much firmer grasp of Fasolt's character. Hopefully I didn't take too many liberties with the lore in writing the new biography.

Out-Of-Character:

-Minecraft Account Name: Rad_Skeelz

-How old are you?: 23

-Time-Zone/Country of Residence: PST

-Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes

-Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: Recently graduated college as a BA in Literature. Long time computer and roleplay-gamer, looking for a new experience.

-How much time could you be on the server weekly?: At least 10 hours, possibly more.

-How long have you played minecraft?: About a year now.

-What do you know about roleplaying? How long have you been doing it? What kind?: I reckon I know a fair bit about Roleplaying. Got my real start back on Starcraft 1, where the maps often involved character play and city-building. My most extensive experience would be World of Warcraft where I played several years on the Shadow Council server as a Dwarf Paladin and Undead Warrior. The Dwarf was a religious zealot who wound up becoming a villain for a goodly portion of the server, or so I like to think. Spent a lot of his time street-preaching and getting mobs yelling either at him or along with him. The Undead was a relatively more low-key character, given to more personal interactions.

-What do you expect this server will be like?: I'm hoping for a good world-building and social experience, where construction is moderated by roleplaying guidelines and that slight tinge of danger that comes with PVP.

-What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I've poked around a bit on Evercraft and another build server, but nothing serious. This one caught my eye early however, and I'm intrigued by the world that has been created in it.

-Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules? What about the lore?: I have read the rules and the Lore. While I was able to find information on the Ancient mythology, more modern information seems hard to come by out of the server; hoping I can find out more inside.

-Name the 4 races on this server. Dwarf, Human, Orc, and Elf.

-How did you hear about us?: Scrolling through the Minecraft server list on the forums.

-Did you vote?: I did.

-What was your favourite Law?: No l33t speak. It's a small thing but I always like holding to a high literacy standard.

-What was your least favourite Law?: I'd have to say the no griefing the environment, though I'm probably over-interpreting it. Really just unsure how resource-acquisition is going to work. I'm all for replanting trees and not hollowing the entire world out, though.

-What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: Bad_Skeelz

In-Character:

-Character Name: Fasolt

-What is your Race?: Dwarf

-Lordofthecraft.net/forum forum account: Bad_skeelz

-Biography: Fasolt is a mature Dwarf who now seeks to strike out and carve a place of his own in the world. He's a competent miner and cave fighter, but has little experience above ground. His father, Hemdall, took Fasolt and his family with him when he ventured into the caverns beyond the fires of Kal’Urguan. There they spent many years etching out a hard living through mining and smelting, subsisting mostly on mushrooms and cave fish. Bread was a delicacy only available when Fasolt’s father returned from the trading posts “up cave,” porkchops were unheard of. It was these years in the dark where Fasolt learned how Dwarves lived and died. He fashioned his first breastplate at the age of twelve; at thirteen he defended a small tunnel for three hours from ravening cave ghouls seeking to break past and ravage his family’s shelter. There were a few other Dwarves leading similar lives, the Deep Miners they matter-of-factly called themselves, and while their paths seldom intersected Fasolt came to view them as extended family. But the Deep Miners had not dug so deep as they imagined, and it was quite a shock when one of them breached a hillside and found himself in the middle of an Orc war encampment. Surprised themselves, the Orcs instinctively attacked, killing the miner and penetrating the Dwarven tunnels. The other miners sought to bare their further passage with force of arms, but it soon became clear that only by sealing the tunnel could the rest be saved. Hemdall and several other Dwarves gave their lives to divert magma and water into the breach, entombing themselves and the Orcs before the mining settlement could be attacked.

It was a hollow victory. Hemdall’s sacrifice had blocked off many promising ore veins, forcing the Deep Miners to turn back whence they came. Many had already died in the early assault, leaving few left to continue their father’s work. It was then that Fasolt decided his days in the Deep had, at least temporarily, come to an end. His father’s death, heroic as it was, was only remembered by a scant few. Fasolt vowed that his works and deeds would not be so easily forgotten and struck out for the upper caves and, eventually, the surface. Stepping out into the sunlight for the first time, Fasolt was instantly struck down into a coma, the result of prolonged cava adaptation. Fortunately, some travelers found him and carried his body to the Cloud Temple of Aegis. There he was healed, and slowly learned how to walk under the sun. Still, the presence of other races disturbed him, and he has at last resolved to journey back to his ancestral homeland of Kal’Urguan and find his glory amongst his fellow Dwarves.

-Character Age: 40

-Character Appearance: Stout with the muscles of a seasoned miner.

-Character Personality: Fasolt is a stoic Dwarf with little taste for nonsense, at least when there’s a job to be done. A cautious and deliberative approach to problems was honed by years of mining in often dangerous conditions, where a rash strike with pick could ignite a cloud of noxious gas and excavate far larger a chamber than intended. Coming from a small community of Dwarves instilled both a sense of community and a deep distrust of outsiders, especially those of other races. Fasolt is both proud and intensely protective of his accomplishments and riches, which can conflict with his desire to lend aid to others.

-Your ambitions: Fasolt dreams of a Dwarf hall of his own where he can drink, eat, and let his amassed coins run through his fingers as filthy greenskins howl impotently outside (or perferably burn in a lava trap).

-Can your character read or write?: Yes

-Can your character mine?: Yes

-Are you a capable builder? Fancies himself one.

-Can you wield a sword?: Yes, though pick and axe are more to his favor.

-Enjoy Farming?: No. Too much sun.

-Does your character have any special skills?: Has an interest in pistons (provided those are legal in the world) but so far little practical knowledge.

Hope to customize it myself in the coming days, using this one as a template.
