C'nors Cavern Collapse (Lucy's POV)

Luciiael sat down at the table, awaiting the meals that they’d ordered. A full spread for all six of them. Iris, Mika, Aeris, Melisa, Liam and himself. His stomach growled as he listened to the chatter and consoling given from one to another. A friend had died today and he adopted a compassionate look for his other friends in turn. Then; just like that, the whole world was turned upside down. Or that’s what it felt as the very bowels of the earth churned and erupted before them. Monsters spilled out into the streets and adrenaline flooded his body. Aeris, Iris and himself all lunged into action. He had lost track of the others but he hoped they were remaining within the teahouse where it was safe for the time being.

Glaive flashing into grasp he leapt across the streets, Melisa’s magic at his rear prepared to counterattack or knock aside the enemies as a veritable cyclone erupted. Minotaurs, great hulking creatures with horns and the heads of bestial creatures charged forwards from scattered debris as eartheater worms as big as houses churned through the streets in a sight so ridiculous he was unsure if it was funny or terrifying. Small scaled creatures up to their waist poured out from the ground behind them and he heard Melisa’s magic topple several with ease, whilst Aeris lunged forwards and engaged a Minotaur head-on. He did the same, flickering forwards through one, slicing into its neck and then instantly engaging another to impale it upon his glaive. Mithril glinted in the light as he carved through space like a hot knife through butter.

Minotaurs, stout scaled creatures- manticores. As a lion-like creature swooped down from its perch towards Melisa he leapt across the street, heart pounding thrice its usual speed as he slammed his glaive into the creature. A torrent of wind exploded out from the mage and cemented the creature's fate as it was skewered, crashing into him. The fight blurred around him and what was only a few minutes most likely became hours in his mind. Aeris, Luciiael and Melisa worked systematically to carve away the monsters broaching the position of the Royarch's heir, Her Highness Iryne Ibarellan. As the earth trembled and caved in all around. Buildings shaking, rooftops collapsing in. Great leviathan-like worms churned up from below and tore through concrete as though it were paper.

Enormous furrows formed in the ground, churning through it and reducing the streets into mulch. Cutting off pockets of civilization from one another, stranding families and warriors alike on islands of stone with nothing but empty caverns below them.

A scream echoed out from the palace and the warriors of the city alongside Luciiael, Aeris and Melisa rushed forth towards it as they carved their way through more of the underdwelling creatures that spewed out, an enormous chitinous creature almost sixty feet in size wrenching itself free of a cavernous expanse that it had presumably spawned within. Supported by more creatures, it had no business ever aligning with those that flanked the warriors from the side. The allied forces charged, their only hope of saving the citizens would be to stop this thing in its tracks quickly before it could cause too much more damage. Weapons bounced off of it however, even spells seemed to soak into it and then ricocheted away.

The ancient weapon within Luciiael’s grasp hummed with energy, however, deific potential lingering behind its every swing. The mithril cleft through chitin like a knife to butter as he carved openings for others to plunge their weapons and spells. The creatures retreat, screeching and thrashing showing just how effective the combined strikes were. Spouts of acid blasted outwards towards the civilians and he felt a torrent of wind wash past his back, catching Ciradyl Akaln’riv blasted out of the way of the paralysing neurotoxin in the nick of time. Melisa’s quiet breaths resounded in his mind even if he couldn’t actually hear them, knowing that she was watching over him and the others from her position. Comfort filled him, knowing he could focus on the enormous creature instead of panicking about the safety of his comrades.

Slash after slash scored across the leviathan's monstrous carapace, his glaive carving thick scores through it and providing openings for the weapons of others to reach. His ears twitched at the cries around him and the sounds of others bravely climbing onto the creature's back to see its end. Towers fell, and buildings crumbled. A great stone pillar of civilisation toppled down, crushing both people and the monster alike as it met its end with blades and spell. Luciiael spluttered, coughing as he was dragged away from the debris at the last moment by Estinien Mah’nel and Melisa.

The city continued to collapse, even as more of the monsters were cut down and the aggressive creatures were dispatched in vast swathes. The terrain was not stable, the caverns below that had lay beneath the city for so long were collapsing in on themselves and now the people of Celia’nor had no choice but to evacuate. This much was certain. Quickly they gathered, Luciiael and the Divadri organised people together and carried the injured towards Staryew Valley’s abbey, a place within Mount Kaelins’ territory down the road from the city, both well fortified and filled with charity donations for the sick and wounded of other nations. Ironic perhaps that all the supplies would now be used to feed and treat its own people for days to come.

As dozens of people were tended to and rested, Luciiael, Aeris and Myraela Kalgan all headed back into the city, sifting through the rubble with no doubt countless other soldiers, looking for survivors and dead alike. A grim task, but every so often sparks of hope flitted through them, as they brought back those who had all but given up to be amongst their kindred. Even when it was just frightened huddling animals that needed saving.
