Regarding Indulgences

A Statement of the Prefecture to the Priesthood

O, Priestly soul! If only you realised that you are the very floodgate of the waters of Gamesh. These waters that cleanse sin and stain in an instant, these waters that put us in the league of the holiest of Angels, yes, these same waters that make Saints out of ordinary men and women. They are yours to pour out in all their marvellous abundance. No one else’s. Yours. And yours alone. What an unfathomable duty and privilege; how crushing a weight!

Floodgate of Mercy, Saint Pius of Sutica

There is no aspect of the Priesthood that I cherish so much as performing the sacrament of confession. To act as a Legate of God I feel no higher privilege than to extend His mercy to broken and weary souls, and as I meditate on the counsel of the Angelic Doctor, Saint Pius of Sutica, my conviction grows more and more firm that no obstacle should be placed between the infinite Love of God and any soul with even the most feeble of true contrition.

Therefore I am greatly disturbed at the accusations levied by Father Lüdiger, who claims that some unnamed agents of the Church have placed pecuniary requirements on the sacrament of absolution, selling for monetary gain what God has given freely to all Mankind.

Concerning his condemnation of the sale of indulgences, Father Lüdiger does not err. This prefecture and the whole congregation of the True Faith condemns without exception those who would engage in the practices he has described.

However, we are not aware of any abuse of indulgences taking place, and indeed, we have no recollection of indulgences - even ones licitly arranged- being promulgated, granted, or even proposed.

Accordingly, Father Lüdiger is hereby ordered to submit immediately to the Prefecture for the Priesthood a full report of any such cases known to him, that the abuser may be promptly chastised and defrocked should they continue in their errors. This report must be submitted no more than one Saints Week from the publication of this document.

"And God help you if you forget this warning, O priest."

James Cardinal Malinor

Prefect for the Priesthood

Just now, MRCHENN said:

“Wrong priest; that wasn’t me.” Says Father Drusco

The Cardinal, duly embarrassed, corrects the publication.
