Hereby, by powers of ideal, I do decree the formation of a new order.

Let no woman, man nor any who seek violence upon the freedom of thought and life see it as anything but everlasting. For even if all who know it perish. Even if all who bare the armor and titles are killed. Let it be. Without defeat. Without victory. Mercy upon the meak. Strength to the weak.

The Gilded shall be not above but instead ever below the powers that be. We are not a faith. We are not a kingdom. We are an idea. For all who wish to fulfill their lives in the service of bettering the realm with nowhere to turn may find home within

Oh so the Gilded decrees do follow,

I : If there is pain we must embrace it. For others to live freely from it let us instead be the ones to bare. Pain and death is our eternal enemy. Yet no enemy shall be below us, for there is nothing below but our feet upon the ground standing firm in front of ones who deserve our protection. Which is all innocence unbound.

II : There is no race, no gender, no affliction, no faith nor ideal that will be seen lesser to the Gilded. Let us give our mercy and our aid to any and all who seek it. Let no trully innocent life be treated poor. To that extent, all children born into this world we are sworn to protect. To our best of ability. All life created. Until they are judged unworthy by their actions and actions alone. Even then shall we never bare them hatred. For we are all, Gilded, below the realms we serve.

III : We must never bring ourselves to violence without due respect. No creature living upon this world must be treated as anything less than a blessing upon us. To take such blessing away must be remembered through penance. For every life taken a scar upon our very soul must be openly shown upon our own body. For we are undeserving of taking it.

IV : We must, under no circumstance, deliver service to either side of open conflict through violent means. Our service is reserved instead to the displaced. The injured. The harmed. We must be the shield not the sword when so many others in our world would see death wrung without due course.

V : All faith independent from outward bias must be respected and adhered to. The Gilded themselves may believe in whatever they wish as long as it does not defy the decrees by believing in it. We are not to participate in ‘holy wars’. For that would defy the sanctity of life we hold close. Let us not resort to violence when peace remains if at all possible.

And finally, as the final decree and the most important. . .

VI : The Gilded must always be prepared to die for the sake of protecting life. Let all of us, when we put the armor on, every time we wake understand that this day or night could be our last. Let us not have attachments enough to mortal coil to be afraid when that time comes. For though we as an order do not believe in any one thing. Nor have a greater power that stands behind us. We must endeavor to do what we can, when we can no matter the personal consequence.

DOCTRINE

Training:

All Gilded must be trained in the art of Defensive Combat, Heavy Armor and Medical Expertise through whatever means best suit them.

Defensive Combat will include and be limited to the art of heavy, blunt weapons. And shield. We do not seem to maim our foe, and we should by no means seek to bleed them.

Heavy Armor is to include the use of plating, chainmail undergarment and consistent weight training. For we must carry the weight of our burden.

Medical Expertise will be overseen by local practitioners and is not limited by anything except the avaliabillity of material and knowledge therewithin. For when beaten should a foe to the innocent be granted mercy and forgiveness. They must be taught of their wrongdoings. To the betterment of themselves.

Ranks:

All Gilded who wish to join the order must prepare themselves for two trials of great ordeal. And subsequent training for the purposes of use on their travels.

There are only three ranks within the Gilded and NONE shall be barred or held back from taking up the mantle of any rank nor learning from whoever has been trained previous. Upon misuse or the general degradation of the higher status a Gilded MUST step down to make way for others. And do so knowing they are not lesser than. For we are all below. We cannot fall lower.

Rank 1 : Cloaked (Must bare the tabbard)

Rank 2 : Candleborn (Must bare the armor)

(Max 3) - Rank 3 : Waxed Martyr (Must bare the weight of leadership in times of crisis)

Trials:

The first trial will consist of the Cloaked displaying outward altruism toward another. Specifically they must find and seek those who are in need of help. No matter the intensity of such. An elder man seeking help moving hay from wagon would not be seen as any lesser than saving a fellow Cloaked from the maws of death. For ego is not the sign of a true Gilded. Such a thing must be witnessed by a Candleborn. Who may help when it is needed but never speak openly on a solution to issue unless it puts life directly in harm’s way.

The second trial is one of resolve. To wear the armor of the Gilded is to understand that pain will be impossible to avoid. We will all hurt in our obedient protection to a physically or mentally weaker life. They must be prepared to bare it. The Cloaked must keep a burning candle within their hand until the candle has fully burned.

Only once both of these trials are complete may they be fitted for Gilded armor. And be sent to do our work upon the world alone.

Gilded are first and foremost honest folk. They may go about their lives as normal. They may join other orders. Be of any faith. And follow their own paths as long as they never stray from their original decrees. To protect the innocent of the world. At whatever cost it calls upon.

They may devoutly worship in some sense the act of burning candles. For it is a reminder of the resolve.

Penance or punishment for taking an innocent life or any life is taken very seriously. It is a serious affair. And may involve a series of different methods more often than not a simple branding upon their shoulder or neck by issued blade. If one were to forgo such a marking or scar they would forever be marred inside by their failure. Known to the order as a weakness unfit to carry the armor. And must be forgiven for it.

If ANY Gilded were to take their training. And in turn use it to harm an innocent purposely, without remorse. Let them be marked forever as below lesser. On par with the very definition of evil. To never bare the armor of our order. To be cast from the world by all true members. We cannot allow evil to fester within our walls. For we may forgive and grant mercy. Attempt to save evil that may visit us from outside. Inside- we cannot afford to forgive ourselves.

Our Goals:

°°

To protect. To provide safe haven to the hunted. The refugees. The pure of heart. Forgiveness to the fallen. Mercy to the lost.

And to those that may seek harm upon such innocent. May they become a mark upon our bodies.

Burn then melt away like candle to the flame.

Akako took a swig of their cigarette, puffing the smoke skywards reading the missive.
humming
"hah, how amusing for a guild to form around the idea of candles. perhaps ill donate a moment of my time for this endeavour."
speaking with a tinge intrigue they then walked off, taking a copy of the missive.

The one known as Candlekeeper raised an eyebrow at the missive.

It seemed his swag had been bitten.

The Frost Dwarf reads through the missive, intrigued. They decided to neatly fold the missive before placing it in their pockets for the moment, maybe they would soon join this new Guild after their grudges were settled.

A woman of the sands sees the missive. She can't read, but thinks the pictures are nice. Maybe, one day, she will stumble on the group - she takes a copy, putting it into one of her Bokolo's saddlebags
