To kin, Talonnii and trusted lliran,

I have been your Elsaner for several years now. When I joined the council, I was only an oem’ii who had thrust herself into the woes and difficulties that came with the responsibility of the title after months of work attempting to establish friendships with other nations. Despite protests and concerns from my Elders to have someone so young vote themselves for the position, I’m glad I could not be so incompetent that anyone would seek to take the position from me, glad as I would have been at the time if someone better suited had done so.

Having seen two previous Elsaner leave so suddenly after their being voted in, and the world around us growing more tumultuous with war on the horizon, it felt that the time to put myself forward was best done then and there. I do ne regret my decision, only my lack of ability after the fact.

From the bottom of my heart, ahernan to everyone who agreed to elect me into the position, who trusted me to do what I thought was best for our people and our land. It’s ne an easy task especially during a continent-wide conflict. I’ve learned a lot in my time within the council, working to secure our safety where I could. Ultimately, I don’t believe I did the best I could in my position. The sacrifices and people we’ve lost just to ensure our continuation are a mark against my heart and soul I will never forget. But what I can gladly say as I leave the mantle behind is that I tried and gave it my all.

Now as an adult, I hang up the title officially of Elsaner of Iryalen, effective as of the posting of this letter. I will remain with my people, as my heart will always be with the Mali’ame.

Ay’Iryalen. Ay’ame. Ay’elame.

Always.
