“You’re what?!” A voice cried out, filled with a strange mixture of pain and disbelief. The voice belonged to that of young Charlotte von Schwanstein, who had just received news that caused her last ray of hope to fade away in an instant. “I’m sorry, but the abbot refused to host the Hospitalers,” The youthful Prince of Reinmar offered in reply. “You no longer have my support.” In a fit of rage, Charlotte stormed out of the room. It was Rodimar and his peers who had encouraged her to push forward and finish her work to bring about a new order, the Hospitalers, and now they too had turned their backs on her.

This was merely the final nail in the coffin, for the girl had been a harbinger of misfortune ever since her birth. At the young age of eight, she had been attacked no less than ten times, and not one of her attackers was ever apprehended for their crimes. Her arm had been severed and her eye gauged out with the sight of Alba’s great walls still in view, yet none who had witnessed her abduction had reached her in time. These attacks certainly did not end, for she continued to encounter such unsavory folk upon the roads until her death, and a darkstalker had even proclaimed boldly at the Alban gates to be searching for her. However, most painful of all, she was falsely accused of a crime most severe; the abduction and kidnapping of Admiral Hirano’s sister. She had petitioned the Tar and Tari to clear her name, or at least offer her a proper trial, but she was denied justice. Her friends grew cold and distant, and her peers publicly accosted her in the streets. It was only the Order she so desperately clung to that gave her the motivation to move forward, and now that too was falling apart before her very eyes.

With tears in her eyes, the youthful daughter of house von Schwanstein ran off, and Reinmar grew smaller and further with each frantic step. She could not bear it any longer, and with her entire future swept out from beneath her feet, she feared what more this cruel world had in store for her. Taking the dagger that her brother had presented to her as a gift, she thrust it into her own chest, and the world that had been so cruel to her slowly began to fade away.

Spoiler

I had some fun on this character, and I enjoyed meeting a lot of you during this run. However, the person who invited me to play a von Schwanstein quit over a month ago, the house has been targeted by various OOC plots, and just about every storyline that had been set up for Charlotte was put on pause indefinitely for one reason or another. With how exhausting it was to play her through all of the drama that had occurred, especially after I've played through similar situations for the past three years and been forced to play somewhat similar characters, I just didn't see a point in playing a character who I no longer enjoyed playing and likely wouldn't enjoy playing in the future. I'd like to thank Aurelian for agreeing to give me the character, Dora for calling me back onto the server after I had lost interest and couldn't figure out what to do next, and the rest of house von Schwanstein for the RP we've had together in these past two months.

The former Lady's Maid heard the news when she'd returned to Agrenost, watching the Vourkehardts convalescing with one another, as they usually did. "You were too young, Charlotte. You made mistakes, as surely we all do, for we are only human... but you didn't even get to see that day you longed for so much. I wonder if I had stayed as your Lady's Maid, if I had been there for you more... would anything have changed?"

Nora Mirabel Aldersberg cannot help but stare at the ground as she hears the news, unable to grasp what happened Many thoughts race through her mind. Dead?  "Lady Charlotte wouldn't just... No… No… all because of a misunderstanding? Was she not just going to prove that the supposed kidnapping really wasn't one?" She shakes her head, trying to understand any of this "Are the nobles of Petra really so foolish as to believe a noble would so easily kidnap someone so unimportant?" She sighs as she walks to the house where she last saw Lady Charlotte "She was someone with such a strong mind and such grand goals... I am sorry... my friend... I will keep you in my heart. Goodbye..." She looks around Petra one last time before making her way back to Alba.

A darkstalker sat in the Synod, cackling at other missives with ghouls and dreads, but when he came across the missive of Charlottes passing, nothing but silence existed his maw. He stood a moment, his abyssal eyes filled with dread as he went separated from his fellow dead. Other undead stared, confused and talking amongst themselves. He took that missive outside the Barrowlord’s Den. He would stare up into the sky, as for the first time in a while, the creature needed fresh air.

”I’m so sorry, Charlotte.”

Henry Aldersberg would read the missive a few times in disbelief as his eyes widened "She's dead?....No!" The young Alban Sergeant blinks a few times looking at the paper in hand as a few tears fell down from his face "She was a good friend, what a cruel world we live in." The Aldersberg lets out a long sigh dropping the missive on the floor not able to hold it any longer "I hope you find peace Charlotte, I will never forget the kindness you left in this world, Farewell." Henry ends his words bidding farewell to a great friend of his
