I have a pest problem

I got this house set up ((unprotected)) in the verge and all is healthy and fine till i realize sugar canes in front missing and items in chests are lost. this has been happening a lot so I hid my most valuables somewhere safe after Iron and gold were taken. but still sugar cane continually disappears, the thiefs calling card I presume. Recently I planted single water melon seed to find that that patch it was supposed to grown on unmilled meaning the water melon was stolen. I put up a beware wolf sign hoping that will turn the criminal away but my wolf ran away recently so its merely a bluff now and I need someone to instigate this scoundrel.

I'm not the best artist so my picture of a scary wolf on the sign might not be recognizable at all. as you can see though the reeds are missing again but that was before I placed the sign so I have yet to see it in action
