((I know this could be posted in the history forum, but it feels more appropriate here, as it fits better to Human roleplay, and it is just... more fitting here.))

A Brief History of Aegis; Oren

From the very beginnings of times modern.

After the Aenguls and Daemons left the land of Aegis, to the depths of land and the heights of sky did they return for many years. And so begins this next story.

For years, the people of Aegis fought amongst themselves; the sons and daughters of Horen claiming more power than they could wield; the few born of Malinor growing self righteous; the descendants of Urguan delving into the earth for greed; the followers of Krug envying the living land of the others.

Kings rose, princes ascended, warlords came, all to fight the other and the next. They destroyed their lands, hurting all who inhabited them. Yet the wheat still grew, and the flowers still bloomed.

This infighting, terrible and evil, continued for nigh a thousand years, weakening each of the four races to the point of collapse, until a force came to the land once again.

The Undead.

Bearing a fetid odor and disfigured appearance, these monstrosities battled the people of Aegis for almost a hundred years after their appearance. Mainly raiding the people of Oren, they were the descended – the most horrible of all creatures.

As a disease, their tendrils spread throughout all of Aegis, planting agents in every high court and army. They sought nothing more than death, nothing more than to create more poor souls to resurrect as their pigmen slaves, as their skeleton rangers, as their zombie ranks.

Slowly, in the name of Iblees, they gained ground, terrorizing the North. Oren held for many years, even through countless sacks on the northern outposts and multiple on the City of the Mountain. A stronghold for this deplorable race rose. And thus began the fall.

First Snowyfields was lost. This was not without a fight, a grand fight indeed. This first battle of The Fall resulted in the death of fifty conscripted individuals, from Malinor to Al’Khazar, all fighting valiantly against the few Undead who appeared. Here, the power of the Iblees was shown. And the condemnation of Aeriel revealed.

Little happened since this event, until, in a devastating battle, Alstion was lost to the Undead. Hope fell from the people of Malinor, of Kal’Urguan, of Krugmar, and especially those of Oren. Nothing remained of Alstion, neither a brick nor a stone…

But Aeriel had not left the people of Aegis! Lest we forget, She returned in a mighty battle against Iblees, sending her blessing unto the armies of Aegis!

As the shadow of Iblees rose over the land, darkening the sky and raising the dead, a booming voice passed through the heads of all our people, telling them of the end. His fists came down, as he pulled himself from the portal at the Undead stronghold…

Every being of Aegis raced north to fight. Each who fell is a hero, each who survived a respected member of society. They fought, more valiantly than any could imagine, to destroy this shadow, and cast it back upon the Nether, to return this blight to the Undead themselves.

And more hope was made, as a new nation, Kal’Alras, rose into the forefront of affairs, helping all who needed shelter, providing a protection for those who needed it.

But this victory did not last.

A keep was built by the Ascended, followers of the Aenguls to protect against another stronghold from the Undead. Hope was sent through the hearts of all, as rebuilding was finally possible for the people of Oren.

And then Aeriel abandoned us, may She be condemned with Iblees. Ripping her influences on Aegis from the world, She left the people in contempt.

So began the rebuilding of a stronghold for the Undead, and the end of the races existence on Aegis. Al’Khazar was sacked. King Edmund the Betrayer was turned to the Undead, ripping the head from his Queen for a feast.

Hope again fell, as did the Northerners. Turmoil among the nations, which was kept back by the imminent threat, again erupted, as all again sought power in order to preserve themselves. Oren lost its King, and had many a fight over who would replace Edmund, until Enor the Great came.

Al’Khazar was rebuilt. The armies were paid. Weapons were made. Battles were won.

Then, as a wolf on a lynx’s tail, Iblees invaded Al’Khazar. The City of the Mountain was tainted by his touch, a poisonous gas filled the air. Enor Sheffield was kidnapped, taken to the Nether. Oren was destroyed, spare Winterfell and New Alstion, and all her citizens fled to Kal’Alras…

Now it is upon you to write the history. To fill the holes, to finish the tale.

Spin your yarn.

Opinions of the Authror

And to any "Ascended" reading this: May your lungs burn from the gases of the Nether as you follow your Aeriel to where She rightfully belongs - at the right hand of Iblees!

You say you are here to do good, when you only provide false hope. You hurt us in a way we could not hurt each other. Return to your realm, high above us, so you can look your noses down upon us without hurting your necks as much!

And to you, King Edmund the Betrayer, may you die a hundred times with the souls you took laughing at you. May you be tortured by the soul of Horen for betraying your people! And may your loyalists, those who I denounced, be executed at the stake! I predicted your fall. I knew you were evil, deep within. May you suffer. Eternally.

And to you, citizens of Oren, and of Aegis, thank you. You have saved us all from a horrible fate, or at least delayed this fate. You have made it possible for us to exist longer than a lying King or a "better" race could.

And to you King Enor the Great, may your heart shine brightly, to show us the way to where you abide in the Nether, where they have stolen your soul. You have fixed your father's wrongs, and returned us to the days of King Perea for a short while. May you be blessed, even in your pain.
