Rashala 1 Share Posted January 5, 2012 Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: RAshala Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: No, unfortunately I live on a fixed income and could not afford the tickets or transportation there How old are you?: 31 years old, come May I'll be 32. Time Zone/Country of Residence: USA, Eastern Coast. EST is my time zone, and that's UTC-05:00. Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I would hope so, it's my native language and I have been speaking it for all of my life. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I guess I'm just your regular average Joe. I have a great deal of free time, and willingness to work hard. I'm skilled in most basic and some advanced computer and network management, and have a degree in computer and network repair & maintenance. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Well, depending on my job, mother nature and my ISP, I should have quite a bit of time. Most likely we're looking at around 2-6 hours daily, as I tend to ease up and relax by playing games on a daily basis. What do you know about role-playing? Give a definition of what it means to you: I've played DnD quite a lot, so I'd really not even know what to start with here, too many good answers. Simply put, role-playing is entirely about creating a character and with care and time and not about trying to quote-on-quote "win the game" as they say. I try to act through my character and see the world as he/she would see it and think and act accordingly. In your own Words, describe what metagaming and powergaming are. Metagaming is in essence taking out of character information and applying it to in character situations. Such a case would be for example as follows: you overhear on TeamSpeak how someone was boasting that they robbed your home, yet you had no idea in character who had done it as nobody witnessed a thing. Then using this OOC information you would justify attacking or even breaking into that person's home to search for your stolen things even though you in character you would still be oblivious to who had taken them, and where to. Powergaming could be explained as excessively working towards victory at the cost of others. E.g someone would attack someone and not give them any time to respond, this is as powergaming because it pushes towards an easy victory whereas most people would prefer to have a fun battle even though they knew they would loose. A better example might be merely to explain the idea behind powergaming; to ignore all other things except your goal and work towards that goal without any consideration towards other players, server rules, etc. In essence, it's about breaking the (spirit of the) game for your own benefit. What do you expect this server will be like?: I have no idea. I have heard from many people and those whose word I value that it is a very intersting place. You seem to have a custom made or customized plugin for various skill levels somewhat like MCMMO, which I find to be a good thing and look forward to. My friend on the server has been explaining about it a little. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I've been working as an administrator on another roleplaying server and haven't quit it. However there are times I wish to be able to actually play the game as opposed to run it. I hope this will prove to be a chance for me to enjoy the game again as much as I used to. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, I have read all the rules and I solemnly think that I understand them, though if I am uncertain of something I will rather resort to finding out and asking about before acting and thus being ignorant. And all in all, I think I agree quite well with your server rules if not completely. How did you hear about us?: Through friends and various Minecraft forums. And I see your server is also #10 on in the ranking on Minestatus. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? I have but I am not sure which number it was. What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: Rashala In-Character: Character Name: Rashala What is your Race?: Human Biography: Rashala is roughly 25 years of age, and in love with the sea and the horizon. His family was a simple one, constisting of fishermen and farmers mostly. Such mundane thoughts and lifestyles seemed, in spite of his upbringing, unfitting to him. He often would do unwise and brazen things when ought not to, such as "borrowing" his uncles fishing skiff to take on a joyride to chase the horizon as he said. This streak of indipendence, which he found a fitting word to describe that streak in him, earned him the nickname "Rash" which has stuck with him since. When old enough, he set out on his own. A pack on his back and his face firmly turned to the distant horizon. He never returned home to the little fishing village of his birth and never for a moment has he felt even a tickle to do so. For him the freedom of the open road and, when he has managed to get aboard a ship, the sea are all he really feels a burning need and desire for. Though his brashness and rash attitude has often gotten him in trouble in a few port towns, he has never done naything a person would consider evil, often at time helping others out, though mostly by accident as their goals and his own at the time just merely happened to be on the same path. Your characters ambitions: To travel around, seek adventure, and ofcourse challenges. He knows exactly what and which way his path is, and with a compass in hand, and hopefully a ship one day beneath his feet, he will finally catch that ever elusive horizon. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? Being generally of a kindly nature, he would walk up and begin to talk to the bandits, asking them why it is that two such as they are harassing someone as clearly undeserving of their attention as the elf, and generally distract them allowing the elf time to flee or gain an upper hand without actually having to get overly involved in the messy state of combat himself. Your character walks up to a shop in the middle of Al'Khazar. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? Mostly he would lean on the counter and look intently at some bauble in hand, ask in a rather sidelong way if there were any rumors of any kind floating around, and to inquire about anything he might be in need of at that time, ranging from simply food to even something which could help him along his dream and goal; a ship of his own to finally capture his dreams. We do not allow plagiarism in the community. Next time you apply, use your own words instead of other's. You must wait 48 hours (two days) in order to re-apply to LoTC, good luck next time.
