Schantz 0 Share Posted February 20, 2012 Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: Hantz Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: No. How old are you?: 18. Time-Zone/Country of Residence: GMT +1, Denmark. Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: My English is decent. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I guess I'm just the average Joe tired of FPS-games and such searching more or less for intellectual challenges in games. I'm not a gamehopper, and I usually keep playing on servers/games for a long time. How much time could you be on the server weekly?:Here at the winter I got a lot time, so I guess more or less 4 hours everyday. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.: Roleplaying is basicly to assume a role, in this case you imagine a person and act like him. I've been roleplaying for 2 years at a SAMP server called LS-RP. Getting introduced to the roleplaying scene has definitely been one of the best things that happend to me (speaking of games). It takes your gaming/imagination to another level. I don't have anything against sitting braindead infront of the PS3 sunday morning with a hangover shooting down random people on the internet, but in the everydays I need my brain going, and when you are roleplaying there is no limits, you decide the quality and dedication. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. Metagaming basicly means using OOC information IC. Sitting infront of the computer you obviously got some information that your character wouldn't realisticly know, so metagaming is just using that information. An example would be seeing a screenshot on the forum showing where a house is and then go IG and rush to it. Powergaming is abusing the fact that you control/decide your characters actions/abilities. In reality people got flaws and all aren't perfect, so just because you got the power to decide everything doesn't mean you should do it. Powergamers takes the fun out of games (especially roleplaying), because it is not realistic that a person can do everything. An example of powergaming would be knowing 20 languages. Another example of powergaming is taking advantage of the roleplaying systems like lets say a person just knocked you out and is now stealing things from your house, he asks 'Is the chest locked' you say yes, he begins searching your house for keys, he asks do i find them here, here, here and everytime you respond with no. Normally it is placed on the table, but you decide to roleplay them being hidden in your shoes, just because he is searching for them and you don't want your chest things stolen. Also using /me's, like if you do a super long /me withdraws a knife stabbing Anakir several of times stuffing him into a bag, you are not giving the other roleplayer a chance to respond, and you are therefore powergaming. What do you expect this server will be like?: Serious roleplaying server, friendly people and proffesional staff. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I haven't really roleplayed on minecraft, only some small-time servers where i was for one day or so. I still roleplay on LS-RP. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes. How did you hear about us?: LS-RP Forum Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? My vote got through! 2,752 What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: Schantz In-Character: Character Name: Harald What is your Race?: Human Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Thirty years ago a boy named Harald was born in a small village on the county-side. The expectations were high, because of his father’s position in the village as a ‘mayor’. Anakir himself tried to live up to the expectations, but he couldn't take the pressure. He just wanted to be independent and free. He was tired of living in the shadows of his father, he was tired of being the shy boy who always was supposed to remain quite, and couldn't play with the other boys. Harald had an underachieving uncle, who was travelling around just for his own pleasure. Haralds parents always told him that he shouldn't end up like his uncle, but every time Haralds uncle returned to the village with exiting stories about his journeys then Harald couldn't stop dreaming about being like him. At the age of 17 Harald was ready to begin his journey and leave everything behind, but then his mom dies, and he is unfortunately forced to stay home and take care of her. The years went on and Harald was now a fully grown man, 6"1 feet tall, burly, the unusually black hair with grey stribes although he only was in the late twenties, yes he was really starting to look more and more like his father. Some people in the village even thought he was around 50, but that was most likely because he didn't take care of his apperance, lately he had just let his beard grow and grow, it was now big and filthy.. He was using all his time taking care of his mother. For every day that went on he kept thinking “Will I ever get the opportunity to experience anything”. Am I going to die in this unspectacular hole? Hell no. Harald knew that he couldn’t just leave his mother, because the other villagers and his relatives would hunt him down for dishonoring her by leaving her helpless. Harald impulsively kills his mom by suffocating her. It was the only way for Harald… To kill her and make it look like she died of natural causes. After the funeral Harald leaves the village, leaving everyone behind without even a single note. After travelling for many weeks he reaches a called Greenshire. Where will this take Harald the inexperienced human? Will he ever reach his goal of personal independence after being in the shadow of his father for his whole life? Will he become the next mayor, and thus leave a mark of his father in himself? Will his naive mind let people scam and bully him around? Your characters ambitions: My character wish to establish a new life in Greenshire, he impulsively and open-minded jumped into this without knowing what the result will be, so his ambitions is not clear. He will see where the world will take him. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? My character is curios, but because of his previously unspectacular life, he will just look, unless he clearly is able to help the elf. Considering he haven't been in a serious fight before, he will judge that he can't help. The experiences/challenges he is about to face might change him though. Example: My character is walking in the woods when he hears some noise coming from the cottage, he starts walking towards the cottage slowly observing the area for dangerous situasions. He sees the elf struggling with the bandits, he hides behind the tree, but after seeing that he might be able to help due to his size he grabs the heaviest and thickest stick laying on the ground taking a deep breath walking towards the cottage yelling 'Hey, what is going on here' clearly showing the stick and that he is ready to attack. Your character walks up to a shop in a quiet market. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? Without much money on my pocket I ask him what is cheap, and my character will most likely try to get some information out of him, since he wants to know what is going on around here. He is new on the market and naive, so the shop owner might be able to scam him. Example: Shopowner: What can I help you with, fella? Me: Well I'm looking for some cheap food. The shopowner starts showing and telling about his food. My character keeps the conversation going popping some commentaries in between to get to know what is going on around here. If the shopowner is friendly he will keep talking since he has plenty of time, and they might even become friends who knows? A screenshot of your skin: New application format (just in case): Open-Response-Questions Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: My character always had the economical support, and he is therefore not greedy. He could possibly try to look around for the owner to tell him that his properties is very easy to steal for people walking by. Else I'm afraid he will just keep walking away booring as he is in this situasion. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? My character is only used to being around harmless and friendly individuals, so when it comes to this point my character won't be very skeptical. They would easily be able to trick him into doing something stupid. Example: My character approaches the camp with a smile greeting them firmly. If they respond positively he will start socializing like he knows them very well. Since he got no destination, he might even join their camp and travel around with them if it all goes well. He don't want to be intrusive, so he won't ask for food right away. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: My character does not care about the reward, and although he is helpfull he is too afraid to support such a violent act. As previously mentioned fighting is very unfamiliar to him, but he is also having a hard time facing peer pressure, so people could talk him into it. In other words the outcome would depend on the persons around him.

Voak Thailen 28 Share Posted February 20, 2012 Denied You're very close. This is a good app, but it has a few minor flaws. -You mention that your mother died in the beginning of your bio. I think you mean got sick. -As interesting as it is, I can't accept your app when your character kills his mother. Your character can't display evil traits unless you get an accepted villain app later on with your time with the server. Again, I like the story, and I would suggest holding onto that until later on when you may apply for a villain app, but it's against server policy to accept a character like this, no matter how entertaining. -Your responses could use a bit more role playing. Create a scene with the other characters as well. You can't control other people on the server, but you should here. Give them actions instead of guessing at what they might do. Try looking at accepted apps to see what I mean. Post again in two hours. Remember that this next try is your last, so do your best to improve the areas I've mentioned.
