taylor22211 0 Share Posted March 22, 2012 out of character: Minecraft Account Name: My Minecraft Account name is Taylor22211. How old are you?: I am 16 years old. Time-Zone/Country of Residence: I live in Beaverton, Oregon (USA) (-8 GMT) Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes i have a good grip on the english language because i have been speaking it all my life. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I'm a pc gamer who goes to highschool and gets good grades. I play a lot of different games on pc and consoles and i am planning on creating a youtube gaming channel. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: On weekdays i could be on for 2-4 hours and on weekends i could be on for 2-8. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: To me, roleplaying is when you create a make believe character up in your head. This character will have a fully in depth description of their background and will act in a way based on their background and personality. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I've played a few roleplaying type games including the mass effect series. Other than that i have no roleplaying experience. In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-gaming is using information you gathered while out of character and using it to alter your in character decisions. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power-gaming is making a roleplaying character who is extremely rich, powerful, royal, etc. Power-gaming in an RP server ruins the fun for yourself and others because it isn't fun for people to have a completely unbeatable oponent that can do basically what ever he/she wants to do. What do you expect this server will be like?: From what i've seen and heard, this server will be extremely fun. I imagine that there will be no tolerance for speaking out of character and everything that people do will have a reason based on who their character is. This is great for an RP server to have because it ruins the experience if people are talking about real life or just stealing things from people even though their character is supposed to be a nice person who would never steal. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I've played on a few LAN servers with some real life friends. I've also played on 1 or 2 npc/mmo servers and i left because they weren't active anymore. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes i understand them and i agree. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? Yes. How did you hear about us?: I heard about this server from a real life friend. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Not yet but i expect that i will eventually after experiencing this server. In-Character: Character Name: Deurdak Girnor What Race are you?: Dwarf What Sub-Race are you? mountain Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Deurdak was born with his twin brother Mordak inside of a frosty mountain which lay on the southern edge of Asulon. The two brothers and their parents Falerl and Valitia, lived a simple life during the childrens youth. Falerl would mine in their clans mines all day while Valitia would care for the children and run their small family store. When Deurdak and Mordak grew older, they were invited to watch their father in the mines on certain journeys. Mordak was barely interested in mines. He would instead sneak off and watch the sword fighters. Deurdak, on the other hand, was intrigued by his fathers skill and determination. These four dwarves continued with this life for several years until the twins turned 12 years old. In their clan, a boys 12th birthday was the day he became a man. That day Deurdak would stand by his fathers side and be accepted into the clan. Over the years Mordak had become a large nuisance in their clan and did not care to be accepted. Deurdak did not understand his brothers feeling towards the clan but his excitement blinded him from it. That day, Deurdak mined for the first time now that he was a man. His father would begin to teach him everything he knew so that one day Deurdak could grow up to provide for his own family as Falerl did. Deurdak became more and more of a man each day he spent in the mines with his father. One dreadful day in their beutiful frosy mountain cave, their clan was attacked. The dwarves were swarmed by wave after wave of heartless orcs who would not stop until the mines were theirs. Deurdak and Falerl had not entered the mine yet that day so they quickly packed up their belongings and fled to the nearest defense post but they were stopped shortly after by several orcs. Falerl used his novice sword skills to defend Deurdak so he could escape. Deurdak refused to leave his father but Falerl promised they would meet again so Deurdak ran. As he neared one of the mines many exits he saw sunlight for the first time. Blinded by the beuty he forgot about the horrific situation that the orcs had brought to his clan. The sound of orc screams brought him back to reality and he finished his escape out into the gorgous snowy plains of Asulon. He swiveled around and ran back up the mountain a ways until he found a small cavern that he could hide in until he saw his father. Deurdak sat their for hours and hours just waiting ... hoping, that his father had made it out alive. Eventually he realized the harsh reality of his fathers demise as his whole world came crumbling down on top of him. When deurdak finally made it to the surface of the rubble, he was not the same man. Instead of a small innocent boy, Deurdak had become a burly and powerful man with thick, black hair and a cold heart. He wandered out into the great world of Asulon that he had been secluded from by the cold inner mountain walls. Deurdak could not bare the though of his clans extinction so he traveled as far as he could away from his disasterous birthplace. After traveling for miles and miles, he was exausted and could not take another step. He collapsed on the ground and entered a deep and dark sleep. When he awoke, he found himself lying in a barren wasteland not far from an abandoned mountain. He slouched towards a mine entrance in search of a new life, free from all his awful memories. Without any tools, companions, or emotion, Deurdak was left with nothing but his abundant knowledge of mines and his skills with the pickaxe. Over years of lonesomeness he became delusional. Many years later, at the age of 21, Deurdak escaped this mine as well. His heart had darkened and his soul would forever be scared by death. He was exausted, starving, and death was pulling at his ancles. A traveling mearchant spotted him in the distance and quickly brought him back to his town. He was patched up, fed, and put in bed. After a long sleep he was awoken by the many small and curious eyes of the village children. He hadn't seen a human face in more than five years and he imediately bolted from their camp. Alone and practicly heartless, Deurdak wandered Asulon with nothing but the tools on his back and his mastery in mining. He was also a very clever man with the wit of an old halfling but this was nowhere near what was necesary for his survival in the world. What is your Character's ambitions?: Deurdak plans to use his mining expertise to provide himself with necessities for survival. He will use his wit to outsmart anyone brave enough to cross his dark soul. Deurdak dreams of a simpler life someday where he can settle down in a log cabin and rest but for now, he will be followed by death every step of the way. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Deurdak Girnor would not dare to stray far from his clan without his trusty pickaxe to guide him through the mines. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Deurdak is a very skilled miner and can also outsmart almost anyone foolish enough to cross his path. open response questions: Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?: Deurdak, being an inexperienced fighter, would avoid the situation as best as possible. His dark heart has no reason to feel sympathy for this halfling. Although he cannot stand these warriors actions, he cannot do anything to help nor does he have reason to. Deurdak, thinking back to his brothers youth, would remember how experienced in battle Mordak was after watching so many sword fights. He would regret not spending more time with his twin and wish he was there now to help. If Deurdak did decide to help the halfling he would try to persuade the two warriors into letting the halfling go but it would most likely be too risky and could put him in a lot of danger if he couldn't persuade them. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?: Deurdak knows he can outwit this man. He approaches him and imediately the man can sense his dark past and is overcome by Deurdak's presence. This allows Deurdak to take the upper hand in the trade. He purchases many things for almost half the original price and even manages to sell some of his own goods to the merchant. Having encounters similar to these will eventually make Deurdak known to people in towns nearby and he does not want that kind of attention. Therefore he would only be able to do this type of this some of the time. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Deurdak, having no use for the sword would leave it. Because he's a very succesful miner he has an abundance of ore as well and does not need to bother with the iron bars. Needing rest and a place to sleep however, Deurdak may stay in this hut for a few nights. This will allow him to regain some strength he lost from his long days in the mines and hopefully cure some of his insanity. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?: Deurdak would silently join them while they accept his presence. He would watch the people and see how the interact with each other so in the future, if the situation ever showed itself, Deurdak would be prepared to have a conversation with somebody. Not long after ariving, he would leave without leaving the slightest trace of himself. Things like this will make Deurdak a very mysterious man who is seen but not heard. People will soon realize that he is a heartless man. Some will try to aid him with happiness but most will avoid him in fear of his past. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guards have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: He does not take kindly to bandits and thieves but does not have the strenght to do what he wishes he could to fight the verminous attackers. Deurdak would flee the situation and try not to let the idea linger in his head for long. The most he could do would be to supply equipment to the figthers in exchange for a piece of the reward. Deurdak wishes that someday he will be able to fight but knows that that day will never come for him.
James Undercroft 129 Share Posted March 22, 2012 I am very sorry, but your application has been moved to the denied section of the forums. There are numerous reasons for this, all of which I have included in my feedback below this message. In the mean time there is an abundant source of information, stories, guides and other helpful tips to get you on your way to being accepted; all you need to do is look around. I would suggest the lord of the craft wiki and application submissions section of the forums to start off your little quest to make the best application. Good luck! The reasons that I have denied you are: Your definition of power-gaming is incorrect. In lord of the craft we use an RP definition of power-gaming, rather than an RPG definition. While these may seem like the same thing, we can loosely judge that an RPG definition would fit in with games such as World of Warcraft or Skyrim, and the RP definition would fit in with games such as D&D or other person to person Roleplaying. Please do not confuse the definition we use to the definition that other Roleplaying groups may use, relating to creating a character which is too powerful, or doing an “overpowered” action; this is not the definition we use. To make sure you have the correct definition you can either have a look at the Lord of the Craft wiki, or by joining our Team Speak channel (send me a message if you need help getting started) and asking an experienced member. Your biography needs improvement. The standard of writing is acceptable, but the content is not. Let me just summarise your story for you: -Grew up in a secluded place, got taught how to use a pickaxe -Orcs raided, killed your family -You were a survivor (of either yourself or a sibling) -Became a dark mysterious person The only thing which your general storyline is missing is looking for vengance (which I am glad you did not use :P ) The majority of applications we review follows that basic storyline, and the majority of them are denied. Try to come up with a more original story. Your biography contains lore which contradicts that of Asulon; you portrayed Orcs in the most unrealistic of fashions, you did not use any lore or towns from Aegis or Asulon and your age doesn't suit. Do some research on what Orcs are like (here is a good link for you >here< ), what the Dwarves are like (just look on the wiki for that) and some locations for you to use in your application. You cannot be a "Dark Soul" without emotions as that in theory could give you a reason to murder without remorse or commit terrible acts. Those sorts of things you need a villain application for and that is something I cannot allow. In light of all these things you may do ANY of them if you can justify WHY you said what you said. For example if you said that the Orcs attacked your mine, do some research on bands of orcs who might have been in the area you selected and were plundering the dwarves for minerals. For this to be acceptable you must first do some research and find the orcs who would have been there. There are plenty of people on this server, all of which willing to lend someone a helping hand should they require. I suggest you go to our Team Speak channel and ask around for someone who is or knows about Orcs or Dwarves and just ask them questions. Heck, you might even end up being a son or daughter of one! All you need is a bit of courage to talk to people. We really are a friendly community. Your ambitions are underdeveloped. You need to show some advanced thought processes. What would your character like to do in the near and distant futures? What is your character planning? You also need to justify your decisions. Why does your character want to do this? Your answers to the favourite tool/best skill questions are underdeveloped. You need to justify why you have chosen the choices you have. It is all well and good that your character can run really fast, or is light on their feet: but why? Your answers to the Open Response questions need a lot of improvement. Instead of describing what your character would do, you need to assume that your character is in the situation and acting as they would in that situation. You need to describe a scene of RP. This means that you cannot write “If this happens, then my character would do that.” As this shows that you are not Roleplaying, you are answering the question from what you think that your character might do. You need to show us that you know who your character is, you know what the situation is and you know how your character is going to react. This also means that you need to write in full RP. For example: Josh talks to the shopkeeper, buys a few apples, pays the shop keeper and leaves. X BAD Josh walks up to the man standing behind the rough oaken market stand. The sounds of a busy market can be heard all around him. An annoying fly buzzes around his head, so he absent-mindedly begins to inefficiently swat it away. “Ah, greetings shopkeeper! I was just browsing your wares.” The shopkeeper nods at Josh and then turns towards another customer to attempt to assist them the way all market shopkeepers must. Suddenly Josh felt a slight tugging sensation on his belt. He was about to brush it off as nothing, perhaps just someone bumping into him until he realised his belt was slightly lighter. He noticed a man beginning to run off in the opposite direction of himself. He glanced down to see that his coin purse was missing. He put two and two together and then shouted at the top of his lungs. “STOP THEIF!”… √ GOOD![/quote We expect that you write in full RP and that you write a full paragraph or more for each question. If you have any questions about my feedback, or would like to create some constructive criticism about the way I give feedback (I.E am I being TOO blunt, or am I coming across rude) then please send me a message! I take all questions, none are stupid! :)
