As you enter the great city of Salvus, an obnoxious man greets you with a stale cookie and wild rumors about Dawn's being an armory for stale bread shields and cookie projectiles. However, as you phase out his crazy talk, a small book comes out of his pocket, unbeknowest to him. You flip through the pages until he shoots out and takes it back. You glimpse over multiple pages, reading for what it has in store.

Notes: Salt and “Pepper”. “Gravy”. “Cream Sauce”, and a fishshipment. ((3/21/12))

Recently, I have heard of a mystical spice called “pepper” from an elf, childish in nature, for the first time in all my 40 years of living on this earth. She also said of an sauce named “gravy”, apparently made from flour, pepper, and something I can’t remember. I would love to try and put this into my ever-expanding list of culinary works, and I am very excited to taste this. However, the ratios of the ingredients and what is pepper exactly hinder me from continuing my work on said “gravy” I shall seek for that elf again for the location of said “pepper” and for the exact recipe. Another adventure is upon me, and I must answer the call in the name of culinary genius.

However, I have a hunch that salt,in which I have named the feeling of salt on your tongue “salty” (You can’t really describe it. Just have to taste it for yourself. It’s like a powder form of ocean water. Really quite interesting) along with pepper can make a delicious combination.

Of course, I need to find this “pepper” before I can continue with my project. If just the smallest amount of salt can make a cut of meat delicious, I cannot imagine the taste of salt and pepper together, either heavenly or just nasty to taste in general. I shall write on this later once I have an sample.

(CREAM SAUCE)

Recently, after an brilliant stroke of genius, I realized that “milk sauce” sounded a bit too bland, just too…normal. Therefore I have decided to make Milk into Crème, just because it sounded much more appealing for future customers. Milk and a tiny bit of sugar can make a wonderfully rich flavor, but it feels like something is missing. As it is now, it seems more like an soup than a sauce, and quite frankly I wouldn’t want to eat a piece of meat in a bowl now yes? I need something…something to make it thick. The elf girl (mentioned above) recommended to add flour inside.

Of course, I was doubtful. Flour was usually used in bread, not sauces! However, I am willing to try it as soon as I get a good night’s sleep and some freshly milled flour. I am quite sure this will not work, but I have tried all manner of things and still haven’t gotten hold on how to quite thicken this into a sauce moreover a soup. It shall be quite interesting.

(FISH SHIPMENT)

Recently, Ihave seen a merchant selling fish at very affordable prices, a lifesaver topeople like me. I shall be meeting this man tomorrow, once again after a goodnight’s sleep. He said to meet in the Cloud Temple, so likewise I shall bring something to cool the fish. The question is what though….Hm. This will be quite the conundrum indeed. I pray to Aerial that the fisherman knows his stuff and tells me what kind of fish and truthfully answers the questions I give him. I have seen too much merchants who say it is “freshly caught”, and yet I see the fish with milky eyes, a telltale sign of rot. Hopefully this man will not fail me as other people did. It also surprises me that he would sell at that low a price. I hope they will be nice fat fish rather than minnows he caught in a stream.

There is one more line, but it’s scribbled out so that only blackness is seen.

Fernard Sicari sighs to himself as he closes the diary shut.

Progress. ((3/22/12))

This “pepper” apparently is locatedin the eastern forests. I have assigned Velwyn to go with the youth to theplace where pepper is. I shall go there later in order to get sketches and alsoto observe how to grow and culture it in order to have a steady supply.

(CREAM SAUCE AND GRAVY)

Well, I can’t touch these two untilI have an proper range to cook em in. Hopefully this lord called “Robin Drake”answers the letter on his inn’s counter. I really can’t find this man, as hedoesn’t really frequent Salvus often, despite his status of Lord. It seems likeI can’t wait anymore from anticipation of it. My very own place to call homeand cook meals for people. It will be a good day for me when I finally getthose keys.

(FISH SHIPMENT)

The fishthat the merchant gave me is surprisingly very good. Despite my limitiations asof now, we have decided that we will supply each other with good fish. With allthe fish that he has and his great skill with fishing will hopefully empower meto implement “of the day” materials. This will be explored later on after the establishmentis complete.

You know something? Dawn's really has the worst service. In fact, they have no service at all!

Fernard continues to talk about Dawn's and how deplorable the condition and the food is there. You just sit back and sift through all the information each day.

((Updating this hopefully daily if I have time. Please put a +1 in the bottom right of the post if you liked it! :D))

A figured clad in steel armor flips through the pamphlet, nodding grimly. He loosens his grip on the thin pages, the paper falling to his feet. In an instant he departs, hobbling towards the inn.
