-~-~ Server Application Help ~-~-

Hello Mister / Madame Server applicant! This thread, is dedicated to you.

I'm a member of the Application Team, and I have been for quite some time, so reading this will probably help you with your application.

One thing that the application team hate to see, is applications that have hadno effort put into them - it's just horrible. You should put as much time as you can possibly spend into making your applications - it shows and pays off.

Formatting is an important part in your application. As you should notice, our application form actually has colour codes to it - you should use them. However, you should only have the questions themselves as coloured, don't make it all in colour, as it practically kills our eyes.

There's a lot of guides around regarding applications, from the definitions of powergaming and metagaming to in-depth analysis' of the form. I was the author of the current application format (along with the help of a few other members of the application team), so I think it's safe to say - that reading the following thread will be a great help to you. It's a thread that I made that actually details every question in the application form, and why I put them there, and what we want from them.

Another extremely important part of your application is your definitions of powergaming and metagaming. So many people go and copy and paste answers, and expect us to not notice - I mean, we're "pro" at noticing copy and pastes. If you have an application that everything except the definitions is in lower case, and text talk, but the definitions of powergaming and metagaming are properly spelt, contain proper grammar and are neat then it's quite obviously stolen. We are also able to easily tell if you've gone and taken your definitions from wikipedia - as we know those definitions practically off by heart. You are allowed to go and google the definitions, but when you post your application, all we ask is that it's in your own words. You can read the definitions on Wikipedia, as long as when we get to reading your application, you've put it in your own words, without any copying and pasting.

When creating an application, it is important to have a good and believeable character. You ain't going to be accepted if you try and join as a seven thousand year old wizard, named Gandalf who is able to swing a sword like a god. Why? Well - this isn't Lord of the Rings, so Gandalf isn't a suitable name. You're character is powergaming if he has lived for seven thousand years. You can't join as a wizard, as all magic has to be learnt in-game, and a wizard who is that old will barely be able to walk - let alone swing a heavy iron sword.

Your character should be original. That means no "my parents were killed by orcs" or "my village was raided" - why can't your parents still be alive, and happy? Nobody ever seems to have their parents alive.

I'm going to point you towards a really helpful thing I wrote up a short while ago, which will help you make yourself an exciting, original and well thought through character,

just click here for it.

We really do enjoy seeing well thought through, and heavily worked on applications - so try and impress us, be creative, but most of all - try your hardest.

Finally - I'm one of those people that wants to help you. If you need help with your application, or don't understand why you were denied, then please do throw a PM or email my way - and I will happily help you. Alternatively, you can add me on Skype, or find me on TeamSpeak. Good luck!
