Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name:JjerryY

How old are you?:16

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: GMT +1 , Holland

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:English is not my native language but because of the online games i play i've learned interacting with other people in English. I make mistakes but i can use it correctly.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: My name is Jerry. I live in Holland although i'm Chinese. In my spare time i like to play guitar, go out with friends and play games.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: 10-20 hours depends on school.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: I've never played a roleplaying server, although standard RPG games. I know that u have to act like you are really a living person in the game and interact with other people how it would be in that game.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:None, only played RPG's but thats different i guess.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: You dont know anything except for what you see and know through your character. Anything that you know outside the game should not be used in advantage of inside the game.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: When roleplaying you leave the other person no decision and making him/her unable to respond.

What do you expect this server will be like?:I expect it to be like a real world and u will be able to travel to locations and meeting new people, while also having a chance to meet bandits etc.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:My first server was The Wastelands, it was a hardcore survival server. Minecraft was updated and the server administrator had no time to update it. After that there were a few other servers but none of them were really fun except for Vitality. Vitality was a faction pvp server. I played on it with a couple of friends i got from The Wastelands but i got tired of getting raided and quit. The last server was y own server with a couple of friends. In the end that got boring too and i quit that server.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:Yes

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: I will abide the rules and laws, i know how annoying it is when people don't follow the rules because of my own server.

How did you hear about us?:When i was browsing for a texture pack. I came across one named LB Photorealish HD Texture Pack. It showed me a video named Moment of Impact. In the description it showed this server and i went looking around and it looked alot of fun.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?:No this is my first try.

In-Character:

Character Name: Caranthir

What Race are you?:Elf

What Sub-Race are you?: -

Biography:Caranthir is an 18 year old male elf with short blonde hair raised by his father in a small treetop village far away from the big cities. They were once a happy family, living by hunting and farming. He loved hunting and would practice shooting with bows, his father would tutor him. Caranthir especially had a good bond with his mother. Although his mother suddenly ran away from home when Caranthir was 7. Leaving only her necklace for Caranthir.

He is shy and doesn't talk much until he actually feels comfortable, one of the reasons is because the village is very far from actual civilisation so he wasn't able to meet alot people except inside the village. He had no education except for lessons he got from his father, usually about alchemy and hunting. When he was 16 he once wandered the woods and met a human, Karel. They became friends. Karel was an adventurer and told Caranthir all about his adventures, he would be heading to Alras and after that he would travel to all the other big cities. He told him about the beautiful landscapes and people he met. But also the dangers of bandits and evil forces. Caranthir hoped to adventure too, but couldn't leave his father alone.

He always imagined to leave the village en search his mother. His father became less happy when his mother left, resulting in several fights and giving Caranthir a scar on his arm. When Caranthir was 18 his father wanted to marry another woman. Caranthir wouldn't accept it and again had a fight with his father. This led into Caranthir running away from home. He would search for his mother and hoped to meet Karel on his way, he knew that his mother was named Órelindë and that she looked alot like him. He brought his bow and sword, stole some money from his father, took some food and left for his adventure.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?: He knows alot about alchemy and plants because he had been living in the forest. Also is he very skilled in hunting with a bow.

Other Information about your Character: He tries to avoid conflict and rather not get into trouble. He's a thinker and won't get into action until he has analyzed the situation.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?"That looks bad, what should i do" Caranthir thinks. "It doesn't seem very smart to directly speak to them, i would just get beaten up" He decides to ignore it and walk away, "I'm too weak to help him" he thinks.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Caranthir heard about these kind of merchants from Karel: "Usually scam" he hears Karel saying in his head. Caranthir replies: "Hello, nothing from your wares good sir, but do you know the direction to the local tavern?" He replies:"Well that's a pity. Just cross this street and head west, theres a nice little tavern called The Living Ale". Caranthir thanks him and walks away,

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:Carefully he looks around if anybody is outside. He hears his heart beating. Swiftly he puts the iron bars in his bag, but leaves the golden sword since it was too heavy. Eventually back on the road he is relieved he didn't get caught, but feels a littly bit guilty inside. This was the first time he actually stole something big from a stranger. In his head he hopes to get rid of it fast by selling it.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?:

Hello, please i beg of you. I have lost my way and i have only been eating plants for days. Do you have anything to spare?" The man replies: "Sure, if you would like you can eat with us, and maybe you can tell of your destination. We can show you the way." Caranthir replies: "Thank you, thank you so much.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?

Caranthir looks at all the people that have been assembled. He thinks "I wish i could dare to battle" When he sees the leader looking at him he quickly turns around and walks to a river to think back about his adventure so far, while enjoying the scenery.

I've been trying to get away from these 2 last paragraphs but it wont work.

I am very sorry, but your application has been moved to the denied section of the forums. There are numerous reasons for this, all of which I have included in my feedback below this message. In the mean time there is an abundant source of information, stories, guides and other helpful tips to get you on your way to being accepted; all you need to do is look around. I would suggest the lord of the craft wiki and application submissions section of the forums to start off your little quest to make the best application. Good luck!

The reasons that I have denied you are:

Your have used incorrect formatting of the application.

You need to re-copy the application format. Make sure you have copied the text from the white box and not anywhere else. Also make sure that you do not delete anything in [these square brackets] as they are vital to keep the colour, boldness and size of the text. If you are having trouble because your entire application turns out in funny colours, make sure that you are writing your answers on a line underneath the question, as this is a common error and can mess up the formatting of your application.

Your definition of Roleplaying is not what we are after.

Your current definition of Roleplaying displays to me that you do not fully understand what Roleplaying is all about. Please go back and so some research as to what Roleplaying is. I needn’t remind you that this is a Roleplaying server, if you do not know how to role-play or do not show evidence that you are keen to learn how to role-play I suggest you find a Minecraft server better suited to your needs.

You did not give valid examples of RP, or you did not describe how your examples are RP.

You need to describe to us how the games or locations you have talked about pertain to an RP environment.

RPGs or Role-Playing Games are not RP’s.

Games such as World of Warcraft, Skyrim, Rift or similar do not count as Roleplaying as there is no person to person interaction within a Roleplaying scenario (unless of course you were on a Roleplaying server in which you need to explain where and how you role-played to show your understanding of the term).

Your definition of metagaming is not what metagaming is.

It seems you have written a "rule" saying that metagaming is bad and how to not do it, rather than explaining to us what it is.

Your definition of powergaming lacks an example.

Examples display to us your understanding of the concept, please include one.

Your ambitions are underdeveloped.

You need to show some advanced thought processes. What would your character like to do in the near and distant futures? What is your character planning? You also need to justify your decisions. Why does your character want to do this? Things such as planning to kill all bandits, orcs, humans etc. are unacceptable ambitions as this would require a villainous activity.

Your answers to the favourite tool/best skill questions are underdeveloped.

You need to justify why you have chosen the choices you have. It is all well and good that your character can run really fast, or is light on their feet; but why?

Some or all of your answers to the Open Response questions need a lot of improvement.

Instead of describing what your character would do, you need to assume that your character is in the situation and acting as they would in that situation. You need to describe a scene of RP. This means that you cannot write “If this happens, then my character would do that.” As this shows that you are not Roleplaying, you are answering the question from what you think that your character might do. You need to show us that you know who your character is, you know what the situation is and you know how your character is going to react.

This also means that you need to write in full RP. For example:

Josh talks to the shopkeeper, buys a few apples, pays the shop keeper and leaves. X BAD

Josh walks up to the man standing behind the rough oaken market stand. The sounds of a busy market can be heard all around him. An annoying fly buzzes around his head, so he absent-mindedly begins to inefficiently swat it away. “Ah, greetings shopkeeper! I was just browsing your wares.” The shopkeeper nods at Josh and then turns towards another customer to attempt to assist them the way all market shopkeepers must. Suddenly Josh felt a slight tugging sensation on his belt. He was about to brush it off as nothing, perhaps just someone bumping into him until he realised his belt was slightly lighter. He noticed a man beginning to run off in the opposite direction of himself. He glanced down to see that his coin purse was missing. He put two and two together and then shouted at the top of his lungs. “STOP THEIF!”… √ GOOD!

We expect that you write in full RP and that you write a full paragraph or more for each question.

If you have any questions about my feedback, or would like to create some constructive criticism about the way I give feedback (I.E am I being TOO blunt, or am I coming across rude) then please send me a message! I take all questions, none are stupid! :) You are not allowed to apply again for a full 24 hours.
