Snake Plissken 637 Share Posted May 6, 2012 VILLAGE CHARTER MC Name: Alzaan RP Name: Halboron Elendil Town Name: Fallen Ranger Base Why are you/your character starting this settlement? What role will it play? Long ago, in the far North of Aegis, lay the city of Ildon, home to the Adunian people. The lands of the Adunians were guarded by the Adunian Rangers, men of the forest handy with a longsword, shortsword, dagger, and bow. For centuries they lived in watchtowers and camps around the city, watching over it, making sure no harm came to its people, and serving every Adunian Lord with the utmost loyalty, from the days of Braen to the days of Rydel. When the Adunian race was at its highest (10000 citizens in the Adunian kingdom) Rydel had just begun his reign and was still learning how to rule properly. Rydel had decided that their race was growing too big for the rangers to guard alone, and started the Adunian Legion to replace them. Rydels steward, Icarian Delmar, turned against him and began to raise his own army, to seize the kingdom for himself. Icarian and his followers started on the outskirts of the Adunian lands, taking villages and settlements one by one. They burnt houses, raped women, pillaged crops, and took anyone who was alive as prisoner. The women were sent to camps run by Icarian's followers where they were treated like animals, while the men were tortured and brainwashed until they too followed Icarian. Rydel's older brother, Thorenir, led the attack on Icarian's forces with the newly formed Ildon Legion, as there were too many citizens to rely on the rangers alone. They Legion forced every able bodied man between the ages of 17 and 50 to join up and fight for ildon, but they were still slaughtered. Every time Thorenir lost a man as a captive to the enemy, Icarian gained a soldier. The war raged on for 6 years, until Thorenir was able to assassinate Icarian with 7 other trained men, including Halboron. When the war was over, the kingdom lay mostly in ruins. There were only 812 of us left, and all came together to rebuild Ildon town on a smaller scale to what it had been before. Rydel continued to rule over his Kingdom, although witnessing so many of his people die had deeply scarred him. He continued to rule his race from his castle above Ildon town, and slowly they began to regrow, but would never again reached the numbers they had then. With the population small again, Thorenir had no more need for the legion and so abandoned it after the war and went back to running the rangers. Ten years after the war was over, Rydel was at his worst and the Kingdom could see so. In the interests of the Kingdom, Thorenir started a peaceful uprising to take Ildon for Rydels only daughter, Irene, who he thought would rule their race the best. Rydel would not give up his throne, and hung many citizens for turning against him before banishing Irene and Thorenir from the Adunian kingdom. Rydels oldest son Halboron took over the rangers after Thorenir was banished. Towards the end of Lord Rydels reign, the undead invasion began. The necromancers and their hordes of minions worked their way through Aegis from North to South, resulting in Ildon being one of the first locations hit. The rangers fought valiantly to protect their city, but to no avail. Their leader, Halboron Elendil, son of Rydel, was knocked unconscious during the battle, and without his leadership to pull them through, the rangers were slaughtered. When Halboron awoke, the necromancers had left, but the city was burning and filled with undead minions. Halboron fought his way through the hordes of netherspawn to his house, where he found his young nephew Artorus, the last heir to their race. He managed to fight his way back out of the city with his nephew in his arms, and then run for many days and nights until he reached the Cloud Temple. There he left his nephew in the care of the monks, before setting off back to Ildon to salvage what he could from the ruins. Many years later, in the new land of Asulon, Halboron was reunited with his nephew, and together they began to build their race back up to its old standards. They gained a great deal of power within the nation of Renatus, with Artorus becoming a count, and in line to be the next Duke of Westfall. Halboron and Artorus used their county to build New Ildon, and with the new town, came need for protection, urging Halboron to restart the once powerful Adunia rangers. As the original rangers had fallen with Ildon, he named to new order, The Fallen Rangers. Almost two years passed living in Ildon, but Artorus had still neglected to build the rangers a base. In Halboron's eyes, Ildon no longer needed the Rangers, Artorus had his knights and his household guards to do their job. Halboron felt that the freedom that the Adunian's and the Rangers once had was being stolen by Renatus' ways, and Artorus' obsession with upholding them instead of the Adunian ones. For the sake of his men, Halboron began to organise for his guild to leave Ildon and become independent. One of Halboron's officer's accidentally revealed their plans to Artorus ahead of time, and the Rangers were forced to flee Ildon to the town of Glenwood after Halboron made a grand speech to his Rangers, as Artorus was furious about his uncles decision and decided to banish him, feeling that Halboron was stealing his citizens and breaking Renatian laws. Some of the Rangers refused to follow Halboron as they were too greatly tied to Ildon and Artorus. The Rangers now live as independent guild, basing themselves in the town of Glenwood until they find a suitable place for their new base. What type of political system is enforced in this settlement? Is this settlement under the reign of any other nation at this time? One of the main reasons for Halboron leaving Ildon was to give his men freedom. He specifically chose the position for their base for being part of no one nation, but having easy access to most of them with Renatus to the South, Salvus to the East, Karik to the West, and the Cloud Sanctuary to the North. The base is operated with the same hierarchy that the guild is, with everyone being lead by the Shadow (Guild master) and his Shades (officers) with the Specters (Elites), Ghosts (Normal rangers) and Spirits (Recruits) under them. What sort of behavior will residents exhibit? (Race relations, nation relations, etc.) Halboron has a hate for orcs as his brother Aron was killed by them, and so will not allow any of them into his guild or their base. Halboron also believes that dwarves lack abilities necessary to be a ranger, and will not allow them to join the guild, although he will let them into his base on business or to trade. Also, since the Rangers left Ildon the citizens there have become particularly hostile towards the Rangers for abandoning them. Where would you prefer the town’s region be? Including a screenshot of the land would be nice (of game or map). The base will be situated in a small desert that lies in contested territory between four other nations, giving easy access to each of the for the rangers. The desert sand will make it hard for any attackers to reach the walls without being shot by the rangers that stand upon the first, giving a tactical advantage to the Rangers. There is also a nearby river for the rangers to receive fresh water, and the town of Glenwood sits on a nearby hill for the rangers to go and trade. ((Co-ordinates are: x= -1278 z= 1172 y= 75)) Any other details (architecture, races, culture, etc): Around the base will stand a circular wall, made of stone and wood. Inside it will stand a watchtower and an entrance to the 'rat tunnels'. The rat tunnels will be a series of underground tunnels and rooms that the majority of the base will be situated in. ((The base is being funded by Seannie22's bedrock VIP package)) Players who have agreed to sign this charter (5 name minimum): Alzaan (Halboron Elendil) Seannie22 (Sean Deschain) Enthreri (Roland Deschain) Apenstaartje (Lendey Onelyson) Tyber (Joul Tensen) Amanlu TItolf_Ugin

Aryon 679 Share Posted May 6, 2012 I -1 this charter. Why not just go live in a nation, bring more RP to that nation?
Snake Plissken 637 Author Share Posted May 6, 2012 I -1 this charter. Why not just go live in a nation, bring more RP to that nation? We will be RPing in nations as we already do, but the story behind our group makes us want to be free and not live under the restrictions of a nation. That is why we position our base elsewhere.
Aryon 679 Share Posted May 6, 2012 I still believe you should just go live in a nation. Buy a guild house. Then you bring more RP to that nation, therefor; more fun.
Dukester 120 Share Posted May 6, 2012 I think your sort of 'Diving into the deep end' slightly by going directly for the town charter. You should go for Village first and then work towards town. Anyway good luck.

DeeKaah 1 Share Posted May 6, 2012 I hereby resign my signature! I remain with Ildon. Not because I was bribed but because I like it there. We should not split apart, we should try to find a solution! Halboron and Artorus need to talk!

Snake Plissken 637 Author Share Posted May 7, 2012 I have decided to take the advice of various people, and downgrade the charter to a village charter. We can upgrade later if we need, but 25x25 will be enough for now. Therefore we have reached 7 signatures out of the 5 that we need!
