First Ranger Halboron Elendil stands on the edge of the hill where the Adunian Ranger camp is located, looking out over the county of Ildon.

"Sir, I have a few questions Id like to ask", says a voice somewhere behind Halboron. He turns to see his Ranger Erindal standing by the camp fire. Halboron walks over to the fire and takes a seat in his makeshift log chair.

"Ask away, lad", Halboron replies, taking a cigar out of his coar pocket and lighting the end in the flames of the camp fire.

"I have a few questions about how the rangers are working now, sir, I have been ill informed as to our purpose, ranks, uniform, and such", says Erindal as Halboron sits smoking his cigar.

"Well lad" says Halboron, removing the cigar from his mouth and holding it between his midle and index fingers, "The Rangers, as you now know are official called the Adunian Rangers, will operate in much the same way we did back in Old Ildon, except now there are the Elendil bannermen to do part of our job. The Bannermen will only guard the settlements owned by the house they serve, whilst the Rangers will protect and guard the county and its people as a whole. We shall only have four ranks to begin with, even though the Old Adunian Rangers had five. At the top shall be the Ranger Captain, who is currently my grandson Torrhen, and the second in command shall be the First Ranger, who is currently me. Under us there are the Rangers and the Ranger Recruits, you being a Ranger, and the only one we have officially right now. As for your question on uniform, we shall not have one, once again taking after the Adunian Rangers of Old Ildon. Though, I shall not simply let you be running about in your night clothes, you must present the clothes you wish to use to either Torrhen or myself to judge whether or not they are acceptable."

"Understood, sir", says Erindal. Halboron snuffs out his cigar on the part of his glove covering the palm of his hand, places it back in his coat, and stands.

"Now lad, I have an errand for you to run", says Halboron, pulling a small stack of letters from his coat, tied together with spiders string. "I want you to go around the county and find all the rangers Artorus has appointed. They seem to be fairly disorganised, going by the names Westwatch Rangers, Ildon Rangers, and Elendil Rangers. Give them each one of these pieces of parchment and have them send it to me, they are all being transferred to the Adunian Rangers now."

Halboron continues to speak, "Once you are done, have the rest of these same forms sent all around Oren to find new ranger recruits to guard the county".

Erindal nods, "Sir, I have one more question. When I am looking for rangers to recruit, how do I define a ranger to them?". Halboron frowns and stares into the flames, thinking about the question.

"Well lad, there are many different definitions of a ranger these days, but I shall explain to you the one we are looking for. A ranger is a man proficient in wielding a bow or a crossbow aswell as atleast one of the follwing: throwing axes, throwing knives, daggers, shortswords, longswords and hatchets. They spend their time stealthily roaming the forests to help those in need". Halboron turns and walks back to his tent, "Ill be in my tent when you return, go forth and do your duty for now, Ranger". Halboron continues into his tent to await the rangers replies whilst Erindal goes forth to contact the old rangers and recruit the new.

As Halboron sits by the campfire at the Adunian Ranger camp, he spots his old, tattered, dark brown owl, Rymeul, flying towards him, a letter tied to each of his legs. The bird sets itself down on Halborons shoulder, and he carefully removes the letters from his birds legs and begins to read.

-Application-

Halboron finds parts of Eagles application badly written, but decides that he is recruiting soldiers, not scribes and shall accept him anyway. He sets Eagles application form down on the ground next to the log he is seated on, and begins to read the next application.

-Application-

Halboron wonders why Erindal has sent in an application, sure that Erindal already knew he was an accepted member. He decides that no reply is needed to his ranger, and shall speak to him next time they meet around the county. Just as Halboron is about to go into his tent to reply to the applications, he realizes a third letter in in Rymeul's beak. He removes the letter from his owl's beak, and begins to read.

Halboron stares at the application letter, a confused look on his face, "A twenty nine year old dwarf? Is that not the same equivalent to a ten year old human? Someone so young can not join a military force, how on earth did he get into the Alrasian military? No wonder their nation fell if they were being guarded by children. Also, who on earth is the Diago_Kun he speaks of? I have never heard of someone to go by such an odd name". Halboron decides to deny the dwarfs application, and retreats into his tent to write his reply.

Eagle,

I write to you to inform you that you have been accepted into the Adunian Rangers. Please send word to either myself (Owl_7) Erindal (Diago_Kun) or Count Artorus (Axlrose4078) when you find yourself ready to come to Ildon. I warn you not to be alarmed when you arrive. There was recently a mass murder in Ildon Town and most of the county's citizens are currently in hiding or dead. Do not fret though, as my men and a few others are investigating who conducted these murders and for what reason, at the same time as rounding up all the survivors we can find and brining them back to the county safely.

Halboron puts his letter to Eagle aside and begins writing his letter to Thrain.

Thrain,

After reading through your application I have decided to deny you from joining our order. From my knowledge, you are far too young for a dwarf to be in a military force, also I could not make sense of who this 'Diago_Kun' you mentioned is. You may re-apply once you come of age or explain that writing 29 was a mistake of sorts.

Once the ink sets in, Halboron heads back outside and ties the letters to Rymeuls legs before setting him forth to deliver them.

Halboron finishes reading the letter before running back to the Ranger Camp. On arrival, Halboron enters his tent, sits down at his desk, and begins to write his reply.

As far as I know, 39 is still reasonably young for a dwarf, but I have decided your application was good enough to accept you anyway. Understand that I am taking a great risk by letting you join the rangers, you are the first dwarf ever to set foot in our order and if I see that your young age, height, or anything else being a dwarf has given you effecting the way you operate amongst us, you'll be out before you know what happened. I'm sure Erindal will be happy to escort you to our camp when you are ready.

((Ok, I'm starting to really think you guys have no idea what to do here, so I'll make a quick example for you.))

As Jimmy walks along the road from the Wilven Sanctuary to Arethor, he sees a group of people standing to the side of the road and decides to investigate. He approaches the group to see a cloaked man yelling and shouting about applying for 'the Adunian Rangers'. Jimmy thinks back to how his father was a ranger and how he had promised to follow in his footsteps, before approaching the cloaked man and asking for an application form. The cloaked man nods to Jimmy in respect as he hands over an application form, and continues trying to convince others to sign up. Jimmy looks around for somewhere to sit and write, and finds a nice fallen tree to sit down on. He takes a seat, and begins to write

Jimmy finishes writing up his application, but looks up to find find the cloaked man is no where to be seen, and that the group has moved on. Not knowing what to do, Jimmy stands and prepares to continue his journey to Arethor. As Jimmy picks up his pack, he hears a voice from behind him, followed by the crunch of someone biting into an apple, "Leaving without handing in your application, eh boy?". Jimmy spins around to find the cloaked man seated on the other side of the log, having stealthily crept there whilst Jimmy was writing. Jimmy stares in awe at the ranger, wishing that he to was able to operate with such skill. The cloaked man snatched the form from Jimmy's hand before continuing on his way, "I'll deliver it to the First Ranger for you, ai hope to be working along side you soon, lad". By the time Jimmy turns to bid the ranger farewell, he is no where to be seen.

((That is replying in an IC context. Perhaps that particular reply was a bit extensive, but you get the basic idea. If you are actually given the form IG and do everything there, just describe that happening here. I do not want to see any more applications posted without any context.
